WORLDWIDE PANIC Release Official Music Video for “Party”

 Party Cover Art

LA Based Heavy Metal Band WORLDWIDE PANIC has released the Diego Gonzales directed official music video for their newest single, “Party.”

“In my perspective it was a challenge to us as a band as well as in respect to finding a director. There are no shortages of videographers and directors in Los Angeles County. I know a lot of great ones that are total visionaries and could have easily shot this video and it would have just been another day at the office for them and I didn’t want that. I wanted to find someone who had the same passion for the song that we had. The moment I spoke to and met with Diego and showed him the song and saw his reaction we immediately started storyboarding with each other. It was not an easy task to complete in any regard. We wanted something extremely specific that was based on true life events that occurred in my life. Finding the actors, booking a sound stage, finding a crew, getting props, and be lengthy processes to deal with. A week to the date, Worldwide Panic, myself and Diego spent four hours at a professional soundstage filming the band performance and that weekend we had casted the actors who take this dream and turn it into a nightmare. The scenes portrayed in this video most actually happened to me. It is still difficult for me to watch this and not feel empathy for the actor on screen. I could not believe that those things happened to me in real life and now I am where I am living a happy fulfilling life. I think the rawness captured in this video encapsulates many life lessons I had to learn the hard way. Even with the dark subject matter of the song and video I like that it is done in a fun way and makes something that was very painful entertaining and fun and teaches people to avoid the many pitfalls that exist in society. It is with great pleasure I present, Party!” – Lane Steele (Bass / Vocals)

“On this track we had the pleasure of having my good friend Aaron Nordstrom help produce the vocals. He had this to say, “I’ve known Lane Steele for many years since we were in school together. I’ve seen him evolve and work very hard for awhile and find his voice as a musician. I had the pleasure of working on the song “Party” and enjoyed it very much. It was a smooth workflow and resulted in a great song. Take a listen and be sure to catch them on the road with Flaw this fall.”
– Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome)

Bleeding Rainbow Announces Tour With Cave Singers

Philadelphia based rock quartet Bleeding Rainbow just released their third LP “Yeah Right” on Kanine Records. Bleeding Rainbow says their sounds was directly influenced by bands from their teenage-hood such as Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Yo La Tengo to name a few. Mixing hints of Greg Sage’s anthemic, anxiety-ridden punk riffs, with equal parts drone and noise swells reminiscent of Kevin Shields at his most inventive, with an overlaying of boy-girl harmonies, Bleeding Rainbow channels the Mamas and the Papas as if backed by early Smashing Pumpkins.

Previously Bleeding Rainbow has released a 7 inch singles series including “Pink Ruff”, “Drift Away” and “Waking Dream” – also available digitally with exclusive b sides. Fans of the band now include Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl.

Bad Cop Reissue ‘I Can’t Slow Down’ EP

This band is called Bad Cop, from Nashville, Tennessee, and at the center of it are the things that make all great rock bands the way they are: tight musicianship, remarkable songwriting, and above all, the ability to pull together a performance that makes you believe whatever frontman Adam Moult tells you. The songs on Bad Cop’s forthcoming EP play as instantly memorable, catchy pop melodies – because, after all, they are, whether creaking across the wooden barroom floor or barreling full-speed towards the reckless abandon of hardcore punk. But moreover, there is a spirit, wild-eyed and desperate, pulling you in no matter what their approach may be.

First drawing inspiration from iconic groups like The Doors, The MC5, Joy Division, and Nirvana, Moult set out onto the punk scene in Nashville in 2002, playing with bands at Guido’s Pizza when he was just 12 years old. Three years afterwards, he was sent away against his will to Hidden Lake Institution, an “alternative to prison” boarding school in the Georgia mountains, a facility that’s since been sued out of existence due to allegations of abuse. Through two years of such dark, nightmarish conditions, this young man kept his time growing up around music as the means to keep him going in there, writing his first songs while incarcerated, and starting a new band the moment he was able to return home.

That band was Bad Cop, and following a string of demos and the full-length Harvest The Beast, released on NYC’s ROIR Records in 2010, Moult found himself dismantling the lineup that had been circling around the band since its earliest days. Longtime collaborator Alex Harkness returned, and the two began to expand their approach beyond the shadowy regions of their earliest work, with a renewed interest in garage and glam rock. “We’re kind of the dark horse band in Nashville,” claims Moult, diverging from other sects of the local scene to build their own following on their own terms.

And the path they’ve ended up taking has opened up Bad Cop to new possibilities and solid friends, like Cage the Elephant, who handpicked Bad Cop to support them on their 2012 tour, and whose guitarist Brad Schultz wound up liking the band enough to produce their latest EP, which is due for release in late 2012. Tracks like “Light On” linger with a hangdog leer that only intensifies its allure as it rolls onward, while burners like “Kick It Out” know better than to try to subvert their high-octane punk roots and fuckin’ floor it. Moult attributes the change in direction from earlier efforts to the cumulative effects of being a music obsessive. “You hear music that’s new to you, you start to make connections. It’s showed me that we can write songs that help return rock ‘n’ roll to what it used to be.”

Following the release of a split 7” with fellow Nashville band Turbo Fruits, Bad Cop will be finishing up work on their new EP, currently being recorded at Battletapes in Nashville. They plan to tour on these releases in the last months of 2012, around the time the Mayans predict the world will end. But Adam and Bad Cop would rather you not think of it that way. “We play so that the people in the crowd will have the chance to step out of their lives for 30-45 minutes and help them to feel free.”

Queens of the Stone Age and Dave Grohl Reunite?

This picture on QOTSA’s Facebook sure piqued a lot of interest. With Josh Homme confirming that drummer Joey Castillo out, seems Dave might be taking advantage of Foo Fighters extended hiatus. Remember Grohl played on the band’s 2002 album, Songs for the Deaf (and did limited touring until Joey took over). Of course there is that other “small” band with Led Zep great JP Jones and Homme in Them Crooked Vultures. It would not surprise anyone that Dave is back behind the kit, never being one to sit still. Look for QOTSA’s new CD to be out by June before the Download Festival.
