“Let It Out has always been our most popular song, I think because it best represents the things that make us a unique band: complex arrangements, cool violin parts, high energy and honest lyrics. We wanted a video that would showcase the song while giving people who don’t know us an idea of what we’re like live, so we went with a simple performance video, using lighting tricks in post to emphasize the lyrical message and structure of the song. We were fortunate enough to work with some immensely talented people in the studio and behind the camera, and they really helped us bring this project to life.” – Hunt For Hunter

Hunt for Hunter is a 4-piece symphonic rock band based in New York City. “Symphonic rock” may sound like an ambitious genre to claim, but this is a band that was explicitly formed with the intention of creating music without limits or boundaries. Originally conceived in 2014 as an acoustic folk duo by Ian Hunt (drums) and Michael Hunter (vocals/electric violin/keys), Hunt for Hunter found some initial success playing in small bars, cafés and colleges around the Northeast. They occasionally experimented with hiring additional players to play Hunter’s heavier, less folksy material, but lacking a clear sense of direction the band eventually came to a crossroads in the winter of 2018.

The choice was simple, to take the easy, safer path and continue on as a folk duo, or go for broke and attempt the impossible: form a successful, original rock ‘n roll band in NYC. They chose the latter, and as luck would have it, Chris Kelly (bass) and Patrick Brennan (guitar) were ready and waiting to sign on. All four members had actually played with each other before through their day jobs as professional freelance musicians. Equipped with a considerable level of proficiency and unified by their desire to play exciting, original music they began writing and rehearsing in earnest.

Drawing inspiration from diverse influences like Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and more modern bands like Manchester Orchestra, The Dear Hunter and Nothing But Thieves, the quartet set upon their mission to create an ambitious yet accessible sound. The result is a band that successfully combines the raw emotion and energy of rock ‘n roll with the intricate orchestrations and virtuosity of classical music. Now poised to share their music with the world, Hunt for Hunter is proud to carry the label “symphonic rock.”

3TEETH @ Rex Theater on July 15th

LA based industrial band 3TEETH, who recently released their 2nd full-length album,<shutdown.exe>, via OMF Records. This record is phenomenal and will undoubtedly go down as one of the year’s best industrial metal releases. The band is currently riding a wave of momentum following last year’s tour with TOOL, which sparked a media firestorm of buzz. Now they’re returning to cement their place as the most buzzed about band of 2017 with <shutdown.exe>.
<shutdown.exe> was produced by 3TEETH, mixed by Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle) and mastered by Howie Wienberg (Deftones, Nirvana, Pantera, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden).
The band will be performing in Pittsburgh at Rex Theater on July 15th.
Formed in 2013, 3TEETH is an L.A.-based transgressive artistic collaborative consisting of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums) and Chase Brawner (guitars). Inspired by the early ‘90s industrial scene and acts like Ministry and NIN, the four-piece boasts a unique amalgam of aggressive sounds and compelling visual art that, combined with their cynical humor and provocative propaganda, ultimately asks fans to join their assault on consensus-based reality.

The group released its self-titled debut album in 2014 and was promptly hailed as a welcome return to the old school industrial sound of the ‘90s that eschewed EBM’s techno beats in favor of grinding grooves, atmospheric keyboards, crunchy guitars and heavily distorted vocals.

Meanwhile, the band developed an intense live show that unleashed the cathartic chaos contained in their studio recordings. On 3TEETH’s stage, the band’s brutal sonics get paired with a dense array of images brought together by the mesmerizing performance of frontman Mincolla. The group saw its creative efforts pay off in a major way when metal giants TOOL handpicked 3TEETH to support them on their 2016 world arena tour with Primus.

Preparation for the band’s next album began in earnest shortly after the tour with new material being written and recorded. Two singles from the album, “Degrade” and “Atrophy,” were released, the latter of which was accompanied by a concept video, and both songs demonstrated that 3TEETH had hit a new creative peak. Sean Beavan, producer and mixer who has worked on albums by NIN, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Slayer and more, was brought in to take the band’s recordings to the next level. The final album was then mastered by Howie Weinberg (Pantera, TOOL, Rammstein) resulting in by far the heaviest sounds the band has ever conjured.

Slipknot’s Joey Jordison Announces New Project Scar The Martyr

By Phil Freeman: Roadrunner Records

Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has unveiled details of his new project, Scar The Martyr. Recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Des Moines, IA, Scar The Martyr‘s debut album was produced by Rhys Fulber, whose production and mixing credits includeFear FactoryRob ZombieMindless Self IndulgenceFront Line Assembly and more. The as-yet-untitled album is slated to arrive later this fall.

Joey Jordison in the studio

Recognized globally as one of the best drummers in rock, Jordison is both a primary songwriter and the drummer for the Grammy Award-winning Slipknot. The Scar The Martyr recording sessions saw him behind the drum kit, while also playing bass on all songs, and rhythm guitar on all but two. The album was written by Joey and lead vocalist Henry Derek, and joining them in the studio were keyboardist Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), as well as guitarists Jed Simon(Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour) who collectively handled all lead guitars on the album.
Scar The Martyr sees Jordison treading in new sonic territory and expanding upon his already remarkable abilities as songwriter and performer. A searing rock record that draws elements from post-punk and industrial music to create an immersive and modern attack, the album creates a menacing and enveloping palette of surging synthesizers layered under heavy guitars and Jordison’s trademark precision drumming.
“With this project, I focused my efforts on writing for the better of the song,” says Jordison. “I wasn’t worried about flash or persona…It’s all about writing a good solid song. I’m writing music that people can grasp and hold on to…something that resonates. If you don’t have that, then you have nothing.”

Nine Inch Nails Surprise with New Album Finished

nin

Seems Trent Reznor has been up to quite a bit more than just tour plans as of late.  Yesterday via Tumblr he announced that NIN has completed work on a new LP:

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
In related NIN news, Trent also announced the return of  Robin Finck, “I am proud to announce that the tour lineup now includes the incredible Robin Finck. The addition of Robin to the mix of players I’ve assembled makes this band incredibly powerful and versatile. We are deep in the rehearsal process and it feels exciting and great to be back at this. Lots of information, surprises and sweat headed your way”.
945818_10151639889596221_1330649748_n
Robin heads back into the fold after the strange departure of Eric Avery.  Recently Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro had a few things to say about Avery and his inability to stay committed to anything on his podcast Dark Matter
Keep you social media eyes peeled for what Trent and NIN are up to next.
