10,000 Maniacs to perform at Mr. Small’s Theatre on Sat, July 22nd

2017 MARKS 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF IN MY TRIBE

10,000 MANIACS, one of pop music’s most enduring and influential bands, will perform at Mr. Small’s Theatre, 400 Lincoln Ave, Millvale, on Saturday, July 22nd at 8:00 p.m.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. This event is open to patrons of all ages.  Tickets are $30.00.  For more information call 412-821-4447 or visit www.mrsmalls.com.

Founded in the fall of 1981 in Jamestown, NY, 10,000 Maniacs has won the hearts and ears of music fans around the world selling over 10 million records. Together with artists like R.E.M. and The Replacements, they helped define “college rock” and the first wave of “alternative rock” bands with their pop-conscious, literate and lush aesthetic.

2017 marks the the 30 year anniversary of the release of their critically acclaimed, break-out album, In My Tribe, whichRolling Stone Magazine included in their “100 Best Albums Of The Eighties.”  The band will perform most of the songs from this recording at this show.

In June of 2016, the band released Playing Favorites on Omnivore Recordings. This stellar live recording was the follow up to the band’s highly acclaimed 2015 release Twice Told Tales, a full-length collection of traditional British Isles folk songs. Bill Kopp of Musoscribe.com said this about Playing Favorites noting “That quality is a testament to just how much of the group’s overall sound was truly a function of the group. And if you like any of their music – from any era – even a little bit, you’ll surely enjoy this flawlessly-recorded, meticulously-played live set recorded in September 2014 in front of a hometown crowd inJamestown NY. Auxiliary players fill in the fiddly bits to present a very likable set of Just Like the Record music. A cover of Roxy Music‘s ‘More Than This’ feels right at home with the group’s original material. There’s never been a proper career-spanning best-of compilation of 10,000 Maniacs music, but Playing Favorites fills that space well enough. ”

10,000 Maniacs include: Mary Ramsey, lead Vocals, viola; Steven Gustafson, bass guitar; Dennis Drew, keyboard, vocals;Jeff Erickson, guitar, vocals; John Lombardo, guitar, vocals; and Jerome Augustyniak, drums.

Lo-fi Pop duo Zigtebra roars into Pittsburgh July 4th

Zigtebra play Howler’s on July 4th with Reign Check, Dumplings, and Sorry I’m Dead

Zigtebra is Zebra (Emily Rose) and Tiger (Joseph).  They are half-siblings who met in Chicago at the end of 2010 while performing in the Pure Magical Love dance troupe.  Immediately drawn to one another, they found themselves on an investigative journey of lineage culminating in the discovery of shared blood.  “Zigtebra” was born as a lifetime adventure to collaborate.  Armed with a cassette of collected songs (“The Pink Line”), they set off across America on a summer road trip/tour.  When they returned to Chicago they locked themselves up at Observatory Studios and recorded new material for their first studio album “The Brave.”

Big Plans for 2017: Releasing a new song and music video EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH.

Bonus Points: Sign up for the “Secret Club” email list for a free download + secret messages every full moon!

“Zigtebra’s The Brave is the bold marriage of linear, catchy, pure pop minimalism and new-fangled oddity/intrigue. Clean without being slick, bubbly without being trite, and full of thoughtful musings, all laid out within the bands own gaga, dragon-fruitish and ticklish aesthetic. Oh, and it’s full of love — If you don’t know what love is, you might get a clue from this album.”

Check out the Live video from their show opening for OH WONDER. It was a new song, and since then they’ve released a more dancey music video of the new version.

Riff Propelled Power Trio FUZZ EVIL Release Debut Full Length

fuzzevilmastercover_smThis Fall will see the release of the debut studio full-length from Arizona’sFUZZ EVIL. Formed in Sierra Vista in 2014, FUZZ EVIL is a riff propelled power trio founded by brothers Wayne and Joseph Rudell, also of heavy desert stoners Powered Wig Machine. With two singles currently to their name – last year’s Born Of Iron and 2014’s 7” split with fellow Arizonans, Chiefs – this September sees the official release of their self-titled debut on Washington-based label Battleground Records.

Joined by newest member and fellow Powered Wig Machinist Daniel Graves on drums, FUZZ EVIL serves up a thunderous blast of rock and roll reverie indebted to the likes of MC5, The Stooges, Black Sabbath and Clutch. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Primrose Studio by Brian Gold, from the opening crunch of “Good Medicine,” which features Unida/House Of Broken Promises’ Arthur Seay, to the progressively harbingered “Black Dread,” Fuzz Evil flows like the diaries of a cosmic nomad. Swirling and psychedelically enhanced with storylines spun from the mind’s eye of vocalist Wayne Rudell and his obsession with comic books, science fiction and cult cinema. The psychedelic cover artwork was handled by Rudell’s co-owned GhostTown Graphic Art.

Fuzz Evil embarks on US West Coast Tour this October in support of the new album, which will be released on CD, LP, and digital formatsSeptember 30th.

Slipknot Announce Knotfest’

Hot off of Revolver Magazine’s Press: “Slipknot have officially announced the first installment of their very own music festival, Knotfest. The festival will take place over two days, the first being August 17 in Iowa and the second being August 18 in Somerset, on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

“It’s all about having fun and bringing something to the world of rock & roll, bringing it to the standard it used to be,” Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan recently told Rolling Stone. “It’s time for us to really engulf this idea known as Knotfest where we’re in control, we make a day devoted to our mindset, our ideas, the people that we want to play with, the people that we think our fans want to be around.”

Joining the band for the inaugural edition of Knotfest will be a stellar lineup including: Lamb of God, Deftones, Dethklok, Serj Tankian, Cannibal Corpse and more.

According to Rolling Stone, the festival will also include “big-top tents, pillars of fire, amusement park rides, burlesque performers, firebreathers, stilt walkers, drum circles made of junkyard cars and graffiti walls,” and a Slipknot museum to top it all off.”
