Serpentine Dominion’s Adam Dutkiewicz launches guitar play-through for new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”

Serpentine Dominion‘s Adam Dutkiewicz launches guitar play-through for new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”

Imagine Killswitch Engage at their heaviest, with the immediately recognizable guitar playing of Adam Dutkiewicz, the precision drumming of former The Black Dahlia Murder member Shannon Lucas, and the legendary death metal growl of Cannibal Corpse‘s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher – the result is Serpentine Dominion. After 7 years in the making, this highly anticipated project will finally be releasing their self-titled debut on October 28th via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the album, fans can check out a guitar play-through by Adam Dutkiewicz for the new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”, now: youtube.com | vimeo.com

The first single, “The Vengeance in Me”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/serpentinedominion – where Serpentine Dominion can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–CD
–180g black vinyl
–olive-green marbled vinyl (limited to 300 copies!)
–dark red marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies!)
–dark khaki marble vinyl (USA – limited to 250 copies!)
–red/black marble vinyl (USA – limited to 250 copies!)
*an exclusive t-shirt bundle, plus digital options are also available!

The origins of Serpentine Dominioncan be traced back to 2009’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which boasted a line-up that includedKillswitch Engage, Cannibal Corpse, and The Black Dahlia Murder. During that fateful summer, Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz made a proposition to Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher: “George, I want to write you a record.” On the Mayhem Fest tour, Shannon Lucas, who performed with The Black Dahlia Murder through 2012, was tapped to record drums on the album. Between 2009 and 2016,Cannibal Corpse and Killswitch Engage released three albums each, so scheduling time to work on Serpentine Dominion was no easy feat – but when their rigorous schedules allowed, Serpentine Dominion began to come together, with Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach penning the lyrics, which touch on corruption within the government, religion, big business, and other timely issues. Ultimately, though, this debut is a pure passion project; it was written and recorded simply for why musicians get into music in the first place: fun.

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED’s Richard Christy Launches Drum Play-Through For New Track, “My Eyes”

Charred Walls Of The Damned – the brainchild of former Death/Iced Earthdrummer Richard Christy – will release their third full-length, Creatures Watching Over The Dead, on September 23rd via Metal Blade Records. Today, Richard Christy has launched a drum play-through for the new track, “My Eyes”, which can be viewed below:

unnamedFor another preview of Creatures Watching Over The Dead, the first single,”The Soulless”, can be heard now at: metalblade.com/cwotd – where the record is also available for pre-order in various formats.

With five years having elapsed since the quartet dropped Cold Winds On Timeless Days, it’s understandable that fans have been yearning for more, butCharred Walls Of The Damned has not exactly been sitting around, kicking their heels. Christy – who has previously played with Iced Earth, Death, Control Denied, Burning Inside and Leash Law – played drums on Monte Pittman‘s Inverted Grasp Of Balance, wrote music for New York State‘s “The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze” event, and co-wrote a heavy metal comedy Viking rock opera with guitarist Jason Suecof and Titmouse Animation, titled “Majestic Loincloth”. Suecof is of course one of the most in demand producers in contemporary metal. Then there’s legendary bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who made a name for himself in the ranks of Death, Testament, Vintersorg, Dragonlord and a myriad of other great metal bands; in recent years, he has laid down his inimitable style on records from Ephel Duath, Soen, Memorain and others. Which just leaves vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, who for a time fronted Judas Priest, before lending his formidable pipes toIced Earth and Yngwie Malmsteen‘s mighty compositions, touring relentlessly under his own name, and starting a new band (Project Rock).

When it was time to lay the songs down, Charred Walls Of The Damnedconvened at Suecof’s Audiohammer Studio, outside Orlando, FL. The nine resulting tracks are heavy, catchy, anthemic and downright killer music to wreck your neck to. See below for the official track-listing!

Allegaeon launches “All Hail Science” performance video online

On September 23rd, melodic death metal outfit Allegaeon will be releasing their fourth full-length, Proponent for Sentience, via Metal Blade Records. Today, the band has launched a performance video for the new album track, “All Hail Science”, which was shot at Black Sky Brewery in Denver, Colorado during the recording of Proponent for Sentience earlier this year. To watch the video, please visit: youtube.com or vimeo.com

Allegaeon‘s Greg Burgess (guitar) comments: “We had the great pleasure of being allowed to shoot ‘All Hail Science’ at Black Sky Brewery here in Denver. We have a great selection of metal bars here and Black Sky is by far my favorite. It has such a friendly atmosphere and the staff and owners are so supportive of our local scene. Basically Black Sky let us throw a free show/party for anyone who wanted to show up. It’s pretty apparent from the video, but we had a blast that day. Huge thanks to Black Sky for their hospitality, SSS Productions for running sound and lights, Vince Edwards from Metal Blade for filming us being dumb, and the fans who showed up to party!”

Whitechapel recently completed an extensive trek across the USA on the annual Warped Tour, touring in support of their sixth full-length, Mark of the Blade. Hailed as “an exciting milestone” (Alt Press), Mark of the Blade was produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse) and sees Whitechapel redefine who they are and what they are capable of with the resulting 11 tracks. Kicking off with “The Void” – which has a Slayer-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band’s three-guitar attack – the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on “Decennium” bring the record to a close, it’s impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. Alex Wade explains, “At this point in our career and as we grow older, we are taking a more open-minded approach to creating our music, allowing what we think sounds good to evolve naturally, rather than to just write what is expected of us.”

To purchase Mark of the Blade in various formats, please visit:metalblade.com/whitechapel – where the video for the latest single, “Elitist Ones”, can also be viewed.

BEHEMOTH posts final “The Satanist” prologue: part IV exclusively on MetalSucks.net

BEHEMOTH has posted a brand new behind the scenes video for “The Satanist.” This video is the fourth and final installment in a series of videos that offer a glimpse into the thought process behind the album that Albert Mudrian of Decibel Magazine heralds as “simply the best Behemoth record ever.” The video is streaming exclusively on metalsucks.net HERE.

Yesterday, BEHEMOTH posted a brand new track from “The Satanist.” The track is entitled “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer” and is accompanied by a lyric video that includes artwork and text from inside the digipak booklet. Ora pro nobis, which is latin for “pray for us”, features lyrics penned by Nergal, along with Krzysztof Azarewicz. Watch and listen now at metalblade.com/behemoth.

BEHEMOTH front man, Nergal, simply offers the following statement: “The Satanist is magic. It’s dangerous. It’s adventurous, and it’s organic.”

The Satanist” was produced by Behemoth, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand in Hertz Studio. “The Satanist” was mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Metallica, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound. The cover art for “The Satanist” was painted by renowned Russian painter and occultist, Denis Forkas (denisforkas.com). The paint used included some of Nergal’s own blood! Additional art and design was completed by Metastazis (Paradise Lost, etc.) and Zbigniew Bielak (Watain, Ghost).

Behemoth will be returning to North America this Spring as part of the Metal Alliance Tour 2014! This will be the band’s first North American tour in support of their new album, “The Satanist.” Joining Behemoth on this tour will be Metal Blade label mates, Goatwhore, along with additional support from 1349Inquisition, and Black Crown Initiate. The Metal Alliance tour will begin April 4th in Tempe, AZ and runs through May 3rd.

Holiday gifts for the rock n’ rollers in your life

We are not always the easiest animal to please some say, but really we are as simple to figure out as microwave popcorn.  The rock n’ rollers in your life consume all things that have anything to do with music and the lifestyle.  The hardest thing about us is that we usually go out and get what we want so fast you never have a chance to get it for us.  So, unless you are going to creep on our Amazon Wishlist and hope we don’t snap up some of those goodies before the Holidays hit, may Pittsburgh Music Magazine suggest some easy as one, two, three gifts that the music maniac in your life didn’t know that they wanted but will absolutely love:

1.  Off the beaten path box sets:

I love quirky box sets that not only have cool tunes, but some extras thrown in that a consumer would not expect.  Jack White’s Third Man Record’s is offering The Paramount Records Wonder Cabinet Available at thirdmanstore.com.  ‘The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1932,’ “an epic, two-volume omnibus of art, words and music housed in a limited-edition, hand-sculpted cabinet-of-wonder” features 800 newly-remastered digital tracks, representing 172 artists, 200+ fully-restored original 1920s ads and images, 6x 180g vinyl LPs pressed on burled chestnut colored vinyl w/ hand-engraved, blind-embossed gold-leaf labels, housed in a laser-etched white birch LP folio, 250 page deluxe large-format clothbound hardcover art book , 360 page encyclopedia-style softcover field guide containing artist portraits and full Paramount discography, a handcrafted quarter-sawn oak cabinet with lush sage velvet upholstery and custom-forged metal hardware, and a first-of-its-kind music and image player app, allowing user mgmt of all tracks and ads, housed on custom-designed USB drive.  Cool stuff, but It’s a bit pricey at $400.  If you have a metalhead in the fam, like yours truly, head on over to The Metal Blade Store and check out the amazing prices they have on box sets up to 60% of As I Lay Dying, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, and much more.

2.  Alcohol…need I say more

Now unless your rocker has had to swear off (no shame in that my friends), a sure fire way to many a bleeding rebels heart is through his or her throat.  You could go the boring route and buy the case of beer you know they like or the bottle of liquor they always drink or you could go high class.  Recently, one of my best friend turned me onto Tequila.  I’m not talking about ‘To-Kill-Ya’ that we all have had some ‘nights best left forgotten’ drinking.  These are high quality tequilas that taste and go down like nothing you have ever had before.  Let me recommend the best-o-the best: Dobel Tequila is a blend of Reposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo tequilas which have been gently filtered and give the tequila an incredible Diamond Clarity and crispness that is unlike anything that has crossed my palate.  It’s the purity combined with the complexity derived from the aged tequilas makes Reserva del Maestro Dobel a completely unique experience.  I would have never believed it had it not been for my buddie’s Tequila Bar in his establishment and a unique taste test experience.  This is a small batch tequila that is hand crafted, aged in oak casks, and then get this…hand labeled and numbered.  We wrote the company and they were kind enough to offer our readers a FREE recipe book at this link.  Trust me on this one it’s a sure fire winner…and make sure they crack it open with you!

3. Something from “their band”

We all have our favorite bands.  Some of us have one and some of us have so many we can’t count.  The thing is whomever you are into, these days there a plethora of off the wall memorabilia and collector items that can be found relatively easily all depending on how much you want to search.  Luckily the internet is truly your friend here.  First, check the band’s website because they often have the cool stuff right under your nose.  Also, check Amazon because they have some pretty cool stuff as well.  But pages like Etsy, EBay, Rockabilia, and Rock N Roll Action Figures to name a few have some hidden gems within them that are sure to please.

Regardless, Happy Holiday, be safe, and I hope my wife is reading this (hints, hints!!!)

TRIAL DATE SET SET FOR AS I LAY DYING’S TIM LAMBESIS

by Chad Childers November 13, 2013 5:24 PM on Loudwire.com

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis made a brief appearance in a Vista, Calif., courtroom Wednesday (Nov. 13) where he learned that a tentative trial date has been set for March 2014 on charges that he plotted to have his estranged wife murdered.

According to Lambgoat, the singer reportedly entered the courtroom for approximately a minute where he reaffirmed his earlier “not guilty” plea to the felony solicitation of murder charge. While there, a Jan. 15 date was set for a readiness conference where the defense and prosecutor will see if they are able to resolve the case before it goes to trial.

Should the two sides not meet an agreement (essentially a plea bargain), the trial will proceed as scheduled. A tentative March 11 date was mentioned as a possibility for the start of the trial, though nothing is set in stone as of yet.

Lambesis was taken into custody on May 7 after allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer to murder his estranged wife. Approximately three weeks later, Lambesis was freed from jail on $2 million bail (of which he actually had to pay $160,000) and he was ordered to house arrest ever since.

The singer’s legal team has argued that steroids had an effect on the singer’s judgment and that there may have been some impropriety on the behalf of the police in the arrest.

REVIEW: Swedish Metal act In Solitude release the darkness on their new album “Sister”

On In Solitude’s latest release on Metal Blade Records, “Sister”, the Swedish retro-metal act has created an eclectic group of songs that stay focused in a style and sound while still coloring outside of the lines.  As the Goth-Rock and Post-Punk-esqe opening track “He Comes” winds on, you get a sense of the way the rest of the album will sound and progress. There is a dark, barren atmosphere of despair present in this opening number that seems to be setting the tone for the rest of the album. While this first track certainly does set the tone, it isn’t until the relentless “Death Knows Where” punches you in the face that you realize that In Solitude will not only take you into the dismal depths of darkness, but that they’re going to beat your ass once you get there.

Upon recording the album, the band was quoted saying: “It’s time to release our third album, and things have never felt this clear and pervasive before. This is a feeling that has permeated our whole lives during the latest year of writing and recording this album, as well as digesting and dealing with its consequences. And it has been wonderful, overwhelming and utterly devastating.” Wonderful, overwhelming and utterly devastating seem to ring fairly true for the sound of this new album as well. There is a wonderfully crafted musical precision that is counter balanced with atmospherically dark grittiness, resulting in something engaging and unpredictable.

As the album progresses, In Solitude bring you further into their heavy metal world with moods that range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straight-forward, ear worm riffs not unlike their Swedish peers, Ghost. Not to mention the vocal quality and delivery of singer Pelle Åhman. At times almost demonically chanting in reverb while at others driving and pervasive, Ahman possesses a certain tone of filth and desperation not too far removed from Birthday Party era Nick Cave. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.

“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain).

IN SOLITUDE signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records in 2010. This is also the year that Henrik Palm, vocalist and guitarist for the heavy punkers Sonic Ritual, passed the trials by fire and thus a new fury rose within the horde. The cultivation of a new sound nears perfection; one that bears the dynamic powers of youth and the embittered wisdom of the ages.

In November 2010, the horde entered Nicke Anderson’s (HELLACOPTERS) brand new studio Gutterview Recorders in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Fred Estby (DISMEMBER, DEATH BREATH) to record the band’s sophomore record, which was released in the Spring of 2011. The World. The Flesh. The Devil was released to worldwide praise from press and fans alike and landed at the #4 spot on Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 Extreme Albums of 2011. Additional accolades were heaped onto the album from Terrorizer Magazine, who called the album”finely crafted, occult-oriented, melodic heavy metal of the highest order”, as well as Guitar World Magazine who claim that “On their sophomore album, Sweden’s retro-minded metallers In Solitude summon the dark essence of Mercyful Fate and the two-guitar attack of Iron Maiden. Guitarists Niklas Lindstrom and Henrik Palm’s heavy riffing and tasty harmonies propel this head-banging disc.” Two years of touring in support of The World. The Flesh. The Devil has earned the band a global fan base. Fans have seen the band on tour on a myriad of European festivals, in the UK with Amon Amarth, as well as in North America as a part of the Decibel Magazine Tour, as well as on tour with metal legends, Down. 2013 and beyond will see continued growth of one of metal’s best newcomers.

Niklas Lindström – Electric Guitar
Henrik Palm – Electric Guitar
Gottfrid Åhman – Electric Bass Guitar
Uno Bruniusson – Drums

THE OCEAN: Excerpt From The Pelagial DVD Now Playing At Revolver

Revolver Magazine is pleased to reveal an excerpt from THE OCEAN‘s Pelagial DVD. The dramatic DVD, which is being screened as live video projections during the band’s current Pelagialworld tour, is a conceptual movie by Craig Murray, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Converge, and others. This movie, which offers up a year’s worth of meticulous shooting, cutting and editing, visualizes the journey into the depths and completes the holistic music and visual art project that defines the Pelagial concept. The film is inundated with spectacular oceanic footage, parts of which THE OCEAN‘s own Robin Staps, an avid scuba diver, filmed himself in Australia. In addition, Pelagialfeatures a female protagonist (who ironically goes by the name of “Arielle” in real life). The girl is seen enduring various stages of fear, lust, terror, pain and joy, as she sinks towards the inscrutable depths of the Hadopelagic zone at the end of the album, and metaphorically, deeper and deeper into the depths of her own psyche.

Comments Robin Staps: “The album concept follows two separate but related strains: One is the obvious journey from the surface towards the depths of the sea, crossing the five Pelagial depth zones. The second one is loosely based on Andrey Tarkowsky’s movie Stalker, which is also a journey through zones, but an inward journey, form the surface into the depths of the human psyche, towards the origins of our wishes and desires. This is the central theme that the lyrics of the album are orbiting around. The Pelagial movie takes up themes from and makes reference to both of these conceptual strains, and fuzes them together, in an abstract, artistic way.”

The Pelagial DVD comes with a 5:1 Dolby surround mix of the instrumental album and is currently only available along with the special limited edition acrylic box set versions of the album, which were released through the band’s own Pelagic Records, on both CD and 4×10″ vinyl formats, in April. These special acrylic boxes contained the CD digipak or the two vinyl gatefolds respectively; which were “buried” underneath five thick, silk-screen printed acrylic layers colored in different hues of transparent blue, again reflecting the individual pelagic depth zones. The vinyl box sets sold out within nine days in February 2013, by direct preorder only. A second edition, including a repress of the vinyl on three-color split wax, will be made available for preorder shortly, and released in December through Pelagic Records. The CD box sets are still available through http://www.pelagic-records.com/cds

Check out the stunning excerpt from the DVD in the form of “Bathyalpelagic III: Disequillibrated,” now playing courtesy of Revolver at THIS LOCATION.

THE OCEAN‘s wildly successful Pelagial full-length was released earlier this year via Metal Blade. Their most profound work to date, Pelagial is a 53-minute exploratory composition written, recorded, mixed and intended to-be-performed-live as one single piece of music. Centered around all five pelagic depth zones, Pelagial purposefully submerges its listeners into an aquatic journey that is at once tranquil and terrifying. Crowned “ambitious and textured” by Terrorizer and “brilliantly written, expertly executed and filled with the kind of songwriting most bands can only dream of,” by CravePelagialentered the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #10 upon its first week of release and continues to reap critical accolades from fans and critics globally. The OCEAN is currently in the last stages of a three-month world tour promoting Pelagial, which included North America, Taiwan, China, and currently Russia.

Stay tuned for further THE OCEAN missives in the weeks to follow.

NOCTUM Reveal Album Artwork and Track Listing for New Full-Length Album Final Sacrifice

Swedish rockers NOCTUM have confirmed an October 29th release date for their Metal Blade Records debut Final Sacrifice.  Today the artwork and track listing have been revealed. The cover art was painted by Timo Ketola (Sunn o))), Arktau Eos) and fits perfectly with the album’s raw, natural sound.

In the town of Uppsala, Sweden in the year 2009 a band called Séance was formed.  Moving at breakneck speed the band formed in September, recorded a two-song demo after adding guitarist Per Wikström to the lineup in October, and by November had changed their name toNOCTUM. Within those three months, the band signed an LP deal with High-Roller Records, and a CD deal with Stormspell Records.

NOCTUM’s debut album, The Séance, was released in September 2010 via High-Roller and in December by Stormspell. The band finally embarked on their first European tour in July of 2011, and followed that up with a new EP, The Fiddler.

By August of 2011, NOCTUM created enough buzz in the underground to gain the attention of Metal Blade Records, which led to a new worldwide record deal.

With a new record deal in place with a global label, NOCTUM spent the majority of 2012 refining their sound and writing new songs. Their search for original and interesting material led them to a heavier and darker sound. The progression came very naturally for the band and differs from the typical 70’s vibe. The new material successfully evokes a heaviness and emotion one might not expect from a “retro” sounding band.

Noctum toured Europe again in 2012, and then welcomed the addition of drummer Fredrik Jansson after Gustaf’s departure. Jansson, who spent time in Witchcraft, Count Raven, and Abramis Brama, was added to the lineup in time to record Final Sacrifice in April 2013.

Final Sacrifice is a fictional horror story where each song communicates a portion of the overall narrative. The “final sacrifice” is like a red thread that ties the songs together and is the concept behind the art. Final Sacrifice is an analog piece of art in both audio and visual aspects.

The track “Liberty in Death” can be previewed HERE.

AMON AMARTH Graces The Cover Of Decibel Magazine

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour Currently Underway

In conjunction with their slot on this year’s edition of the Rockster Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Swedish melodic death metal legion, AMON AMARTH, grace the cover of the August 2013 issue of Decibel Magazine!

Conducted by J. Bennett in Stockholm, Sweden, the intimate feature follows the band through their early days and escalating success, tour life, and the creation of their most compelling record to date: Deceiver of the Gods. A must-read for any AMON AMARTHdisciple.

The issue is on sale NOW. Purchase your copy HERE.

The recently unleashed Deceiver of the Gods was released in North America via Metal Blade Records on June 25, recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Killswitch Engage, Megadeth, Opeth) and broke the band’s previous sales records around the world! The band is now in their second week on the Billboard Top 200 in the U.S. (week one: #19 and week 2: #59) and third week on the Top 100 Charts in Germany (week one: #3, week two: #13, and week three:  #23).

Literally invading U.S. shores, AMON AMARTH‘s main stage slot on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest, currently underway, the band’s mammoth stage production, including a Viking Longboat and the amassing armies in the war between Odin and Loki, has lit up the internet with excitement for the band’s set. Said Metalassault.com, “the stunning stage production was what really made this AMON AMARTH show stand out from their own past shows, and indeed from all other bands that played this festival.” Agreed Mxdwn.com “Perhaps the day’s best set came next at the main stage. Swedish Viking rockers AMON AMARTH delivered the best tenets of Scandinavian death metal. Fronting a massive mural of their new album Deceiver of the Gods… the band also proudly displayed a full-scale Viking battle barge as the centerpiece of their set design. Their drummer Fredrik Andersson was perched atop semi-hidden by the ship’s bow. The group’s equally large lead singer Johan Hegg bounded from one side of the stage to the other bellowing in his demonic howl. The title track from their new album and ‘Death in Fire’ were both great, but it was ‘Twilight of the Thunder God’ that packed the most punch and fury.”

AMON AMARTH is currently putting the finishing touches on the official video for colossal track “Father Of The Wolf.” The video will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Until then, check out the trailer now playing at the band’s microsite: http://deceiver.amonamarth.com.

“Deceiver of the Gods goes from rampaging to brooding to anthemic over a well-conceived trajectory…. This is an album that begs to be consumed in its entirety at every listen, just to get the full experience.” – Decibel

“No one delivers big, punch-in-the-face motifs better than AMON AMARTH, and the Swedish melodic-death-metal titans have excelled themselves on their ninth studio album… Not only does Johan Hegg deliver his fiercest growls ever, but he also duets mesmerizingly with operatic ex-Candlemass frontman Messiah Marcolin on ‘Hel.'” – Revolver

“…so good that it might prove to be one of their best albums since the days of The Crusher and Once Sent From The Golden Hall.” – The New Noise

“…easily one of the strongest and most diverse records the Swedes have ever made… gloriously extravagant…” – Metal Hammer

“…it’s the energy AMON AMARTH convey more than anything else that makes Deceiver of the Gods so emphatic — especially the interplay and layering of different rhythmic patterns, like adrenaline pumping through the system, so that no matter how heavy things get, they’re never weighed down.” – Exclaim!

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Releases “Into The Everblack” Performance Demo Video

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER are currently leveling stages as part of this year’s Van’s Warped Tour. At the Ventura, California stop of the trek, Brian Eschbach, Ryan Knight, Max Lavelle, and Alan Cassidy, recorded their parts for “Into the Everblack” from the band’s new album, Everblack. The performance is streaming now at metalblade.com/bdm. Additionally, videos for each individual performance have been posted at youtube.com/blackdahliamurdertv.

Audio Hammer producer Mark Lewis comments specifically on Knight’s leads on “Everblack” stating, “Ryan Knight’s leads on ‘Everblack’ are nothing short of phenomenal. I grew up listening to the best in the era of shred, and I can honestly say these solos rank up there with the best, and beyond. They are not just technical solos in the athletic, ‘look how fast I can play’ sense; there is truly amazing harmonic content going in these leads. Any educated player will realize that the chord changes he is playing over are far more complex than anything you typically find in metal. Mix all that with absolutely world class tone and vibrato, and you really have an amazing piece of work. It does not get better than this.”

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s new music video for “Goat of Departure” was also recently made available, and be seen on youtube HERE. The video, directed by Ben Mayer, was filmed in the band’s hometown of Detroit last month. In typical TBDMfashion, it is over-the-top and even features the return of a classic TBDM character, and a real, live goat.

AMON AMARTH: Second Of Three-Part Mini Documentary Posted

In anticipation of the release of their ninth studio offering, Deceiver of the Gods, Swedish death metal tyrants AMON AMARTH today unleash the second of their special three-part mini documentary. Fittingly titled Forging Mjölnir, the crisp black and white film was directed by Luke Daley (http://makezure.com) and offers up intimate interviews with the band.

Watch the latest fifteen-minute segment where the AMON AMARTH collective recall their earliest metal memories as well as the band’s primitive beginnings via their microsite at http://deceiver.amonamarth.com.

Having blasted onto the Swedish melodic death metal scene with 1998’s Once Sent from the Golden Hall, every AMON AMARTH album has arrived bursting at the seams with power, melody and immersive storytelling centered around the richness of Norse mythology. Deceiver of the Gods captures the quintet at the peak of their powers.

From the moment the title track explodes in a haze of thrash-flavored aggression to the final mournful passages of epic closer “Warriors Of The North” there is not a wasted moment, the band bombarding the listener with ten tracks of compulsive and electrifying metallic fury. Whether they’re attempting to remove your face and separate your vertebrae with the deranged attack of “Blood Eagle” or carrying you on the back of the mammoth grooves driving “We Shall Destroy” and “Father Of The Wolf” they hit with decimating force, all the while unleashing ruthlessly captivating melodies. With the aforementioned thrash elements creeping in, as well as the old school metal and doom accents lending added depth and scale to standout track “Hel,” guitarist Olavi Mikkonen admits this time out the band were not afraid to wear their influences on their collective sleeve. “We decided fairly early that we should go all-in on the songwriting for this album. If we had ideas or riffs that were perhaps a little too thrash oriented or traditional-metal sounding for AMON – or that were maybe too AMON or perhaps similar to what we had done in the past – we would still keep them as long as we really liked them. A few years back we would pass on those ideas and riffs, while now we feel it was right to just go with it. I think the result is that the songs are wider, they have stronger melodies, they are better composed with lots of dynamics in them, and there are no fillers or blanks on there. Everything is as good as it can possibly be, and reflects just how driven we were to make this a great record.”

Deceiver of the Gods was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage) and comes adorned with another outstanding Tom Thiel-created cover portraying a mythical battle between the Norse Gods Loki and Thor. As an added bonus, Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass) makes an appearance as guest vocalist on eighth track, “Hel.”

For special Deceiver of the Gods preorder packages as well as a stream of the title track, go to this location: http://www.metalblade.com/amonamarth.Additionally, you can still check out “Shape Shifter” now streaming via Stereogum HERE.

Deceiver of the Gods will be released in North America via Metal Blade Records June 25th, in Europe June 21st/24th and Japan on June 26th.

Following a run of European festival dates next month, AMON AMARTH will be opening the main stage of this year’s edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest set to commence June 29 in San Bernardino. See confirmed dates below.

SIX FEET UNDER: VIP Bundles For The Hell In July Tour Available Now

photo01

SIX FEET UNDER are currently preparing for their next round of tour dates in support of Unborn. As previously announced,Decrepit Birth and Cannabis Corpse will be joining them on this tour. Additionally, up-and-coming act Dealey Plaza will open the show. The tour begins July 10th in Houston  and VIP bundles are currently available via http://shop.soundcheckhollywood.com/collections/Hell-In-July-Tour . Bundles include a ticket to the show, SIX FEET UNDER shirt, a limited “Hell In July” poster, and a back stage pre-show hang with founding vocalist, Chris Barnes.

Comments Barnes: “Hello, all you sick fucks! Summer tours in the U.S. are always a blast, and this one is set up for sheer devastation with opening bands Decrepit Birth, Cannabis Corpse and Dealey Plaza! I would just like to take this time to say and send a personal message to those in Denver as well as Seattle: You may want to stock up and/or possibly grow twice as much cannabis as you have been, because once SFU and Cannabis Corpse roll into those towns, the sheer magnitude of smoking may – 1. Drain the cannabis supply of those two said cities or 2. Possibly cause low cloud formations. Fog lights should be used on all vehicles to and from the concert.

“On a side note, I’m super excited to have the opening band Dealey Plaza join us. They are a really killer new band and put a on a ferocious live show. Drumming for Dealey Plaza is my nephew, Ryley Dipaola.  He beats the shit out of the drums, and it makes me really proud to have my nephew on the road with me! I’m more proud than I can say about that, so I hope everyone will come out to the shows and support all these great musicians and great bands that are on tour with us this summer for Hell In July! And we will see everyone else real soon! Lots more tour dates to be announced in the coming months, so stay sick and twisted!”

Mixed and mastered by Zeuss at Planet Z, SIX FEET UNDER’s latest album, Unborn, was released on March 19th via Metal Blade Records, and features tracks written in collaboration with Ben Savage (Whitechapel) and Jari Laine (Torture Killer).

As we near closer to the release of Mind Control, the band has released another track from the album.  Today Invisible Oranges and Brooklyn Vegan are hosting an exclusive premiere of the song “Evil Love”.  In addition Invisible Oranges has an exclusive interview with Uncle Acid.  Check out the interview and song premiere on Invisible Oranges HERE and the song premiere on Brooklyn Vegan HERE.

NPR is streaming the track “Valley of the Dolls” HERE.

Mind Control is a concept album with a theme that makes the acts and intentions of the likes of Charles Manson and Jim Jones seem like petty crimes. What makes Mind Control scarier than most albums is that it doesn’t seem as sinister on the surface as it really is deep down, within the core of its black acid-drenched world of pain and torture.

Imagine the original Alice Cooper band jamming in a cell with early Black Sabbath and the Stooges, whilst sitting on murder charges and you may get a glimpse into their fuzzed up world of exploding tube amps and cymbal smashing mayhem. However, this enticing act of musical manipulation is merely the icing upon a very sick cake.

Recorded at the legendary Chapel Studios over an autumnal full moon using the finest western electrical technology, engineer Jim Spencer (Bert Jansch, Robert Wyatt) has captured perfectly the bands live sound of saturated fuzz, mind-bending riffs and 60’s vocal harmonies.

Finland’s ENSIFERUM have spent the past 18 years honing the steel of their folk-infused battle metal auditory attack. Their albums are further bolstered by a live show that has become one of the most entertaining in all of metal. Proof of ENSIFERUM’s status as one of the most vital bands in modern metal was made apparent through their headlining slot on this year’s Paganfest USA tour. To further spread the band’s music to a worldwide audience, ENSIFERUM has forged a deal with Metal Blade Records! The band inked the deal with Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel during the Paganfest USA tour, and all parties are enthusiastic about new music and new possibilities.

Bassist/backing vocalist Sami Hinkka comments: “We are really looking forward to our co-operation with such a great and legendary label as Metal Blade. The next full length album should be out in early 2015. We have already started working with the new songs and it’s obvious that the next album will be another step ahead for Ensiferum. And now that we have united forces with mighty Metal Blade nothing can stop us! The next album is going to be something that will rock the very foundations of folk metal genre.

We also would like to thank Spinefarm Records for all these 13 years, it’s been as blast but now it is time for us to move on and head bravely towards new challenges.

The future looks bright for Sword Bearers!”
