Vincent and Fanny of YARD OF BLONDES with “Murderess” Summer Sinclair at the ‘Monomoria’ music video shoot!

Los Angeles, CA-based indie rockers YARD OF BLONDES are pleased to exclusively reveal a new music video today with Antiquiet.com, this time for the track ‘Monomoria’. The video depicts more fatal imagery to go along with the ‘murder ballad’ theme of Murderology, the band’s new EP, which is out now via High Desert Lo-Fi Records and HK Corp. The video stars YARD OF BLONDES vocalist and guitarist Vincent Walter Jacob and vocalist/pianist/organist Fanny Hill as our ill-fated lovers, sought after by a jealous ex played by actress Summer Sinclair. The video was directed by JETTHO (www.jettho.com). Check out the “killer” new music video now at Antiquiet.com.

Jacob and Hill also starred as the couple in the voodoo/psycho murder-themed video for the title track ‘Murderology’, which was released two weeks ago with Alternative Press Magazine at Altpress.com. Watch it now via this linkYou can download the track ‘Murderology’ for FREE now at the band’s official Facebook page in exchange for a “like”.

YARD OF BLONDES boasts influences beyond folk music by incorporating stoner rock, pop-rock and indie bits in their music, as well. The band is already well known on the west coast, having performed at more than 100 shows with other great bands such as Hermane Düne and Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age), and they have been growing as a full live band on the stages of L.A. clubs such as The Bootleg Theater, El Cid, The Viper Room, TAIX, Skinny’s Lounge, Hemingway, the Whisky A Go-Go and more.

Burger Records is known for their benefit comps, and it’s something that makes the label so special. As they say on their website, “It feels good to do good!” Previously releasing The Kitty Comp to benefit an ailing cat and The Weiner Dog Comp to aide, well, you get the idea, the label is super proud to release a compilation benefiting hardcore punk legend Mike Atta, who is battling cancer. Mike Atta is the guitarist and a founding member of one of the first hardcore punk bands, The Middle Class. Legend has it that Keith Morris started Black Flag after seeing The Middle Class play one of their early shows. Atta currently owns a vintage shop in Fullerton called Out Of Vogue, right around the corner from Burger, and has become a close friend, so his health is something the Burger Records folks hold near and dear to their hearts. To help raise money for Atta’s mounting medical bills, Burger is helping to put on a benefit show THIS FRIDAY, JAN. 25TH, AT THE ECHOPLEX IN LOS ANGELES, and releasing a compilation the following day on their website. All the money from other Burger merch sold at the show will go to Mike Atta as well.

Included on the compilation is a PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SONG BY THE MIDDLE CLASS. The song “Body and Soul” was recorded during the 1981 sessions that gave us The Middle Class’s only full-length, Homeland. We’re happy to share it with you and hope you can spread the word about this amazing show and compilation, and help Mike get healthy!

FIDLAR Premieres “Cheap Beer” Video

Press Quotes

“Punk’s not dead! And Fidlar are here from Los Angeles to prove it with three-chord thrashes that summon the spirit of 77” – Guardian

“Rock needs a band like this from time to time. Someone to remind all those Coldplay’s of the world where music’s balls are.” – Nylon Guys

“FIDLAR channel elements of classic acts like the White Stripes and Pixies, while practically begging for a co-headlining tour with contemporaries like Bass Drum of Death and JEFF the Brotherhood” – SPIN

“The tune can be summed up in a handful of image descriptions; sandboarding, grim reaper, suicidal flip-up hat, skull mask, and shred.” – Filter Magazine

“We all have a major music crush on FIDLAR here at VICE” – VICE

“They remind me of Pixies a lot (an obvious link, given the singer’s Frank Black style screeeeeeam), but there’s also some really, really nice’n’fuzzy guitars in there that sound like they’ve been nicked from the blueprint Death In Vegas followed on ‘Aiesha’.” – NME

“FIDLAR has an agressive, straightforward, but melodic conception of punk.” – LA Times

“But one wouldn’t mistake the band for one of its slacker subjects, not when they play this fast. The tracks sizzle with the aggression and bargain-price fidelity of the SoCal punk tradition, though FIDLAR’s catchy hooks have more in common with Social Distortion and Wavves than Black Flag. ” – MTV Buzz

“Thanks for coming, man. Want some bum juice?”
“What the fuck is in this shit?”
“Tampico and Everclear. It’s pretty gross.”

When they started in 2009, seeing FIDLAR meant showing up to a house party and eventually having this exchange with one of them. Zac Carper, The bands guitarist and singer (well, one of ’em) would hand you a red cup , throw an arm around your neck and probably end up blurting out how fucked up he was. Their set list would read more like a grocery list of party supplies than a list of songs: “Cocaine. Cheap Beer. Chinese weed. Four Loko.”

After a few years of being a band Zac still plugs in his pedals attached to a skate deck (“Pedal board”, get it?) and says “Hi We’re FIDLAR: F-I-D-L-A-R. It means ‘Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk”. Seeing a FIDLAR set consists of drinking and dancing with people that are twice as drunk as you are while the band rips through songs about what they know best: The girl doesn’t call, my ex is a whore, I lost my phone, my car is a piece of shit, my friends are pieces of shit, I do too many drugs, I’m really awkward, I love Del Taco.

FIDLAR is Zac Carper, Elvis Kuehn, Brandon Schwartzel, and Max Kuehn. Elvis and Zac met at Kingsize Soundlabs in LA and recorded a ton of demos with the band before playing a live show. Their first show was on a FMLY bike ride at a skatepark in Culver City. Three years later the band has played with Black Lips, OFF!, Japanther and toured with The Hives. They’ve released two EP’s and just got back from touring Europe.

Listening to them, you can tell that the band did their homework on punk rock and seem dead set on inflicting lessons on anyone willing to listen. Any given song will give you a Germs influenced guitar solo, the catchy “Ooo’s” and “Ah’s” of The Misfits , and lyrics in the same family as Black Flag’s “Six Pack” and “TV Party” . On the same token they can just as easily be compared to any of the bands they cover (Blink 182, FEAR, CCR, Warron Zevon), yet it all comes across entirely their own: Surfier, Faster, more fuzzed out, more personal and a lot more drunk.

FIDLAR’s first LP is coming out via Mom + Pop and Wichita recordings. Recorded at their home studio, The album is set to be 14 tracks long and out in early 2013. FIDLAR are your dumbass friends that find a beer, scrape the shit off their shoes, and tell you how the hardest thing about waking up late and trying not to fuck up your life is having to do it with no job, no money and everyone bumming your cigarettes.

INTRONAUT Enters Studio to Begin Working on New Album

INTRONAUT, the notorious post-metal prog act hailing from Los Angeles, has entered the studio to begin working on their fourth full length album. Drums will be recorded by producer John Haddad [Exhumed, Phobia] at Trench Studios, while Derek Donley [Bereft] will be handling recording duties for all other elements. Andrew Schneider [Unsane, Cave In] will be mixing the album and David D’Andrea will be working with the band again on artwork and layout.

Vocalist and guitarist Sacha Dunable comments: “After a year of intense, full-time writing mode, we are elated to begin recording our fourth full length this week. It’s a little early to have perspective on how it compares to our past records, but it should be a banger. Expect a wildly technical, emotionally charged, organic sounding record.”

INTRONAUT recently posted a video of a rehearsal, where they’re practicing a new song. The footage can be seen here:

The new album is tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2013 release. INTRONAUT’s last studio album, Valley Of Smoke, was met with vast critical acclaim and the band toured extensively in support of the album. In addition to landing a slot as direct support for TOOL, INTRONAUT toured with Animals As Leads, Cynic, The Ocean, Helmet and more.

Rock Photographer JEREMY SAFFER Teams Up with SoundCheck Hollywood for “Capturing Music: A Music Photography Seminar” — June 23-24 at the SoundCheck Store

After a successful month of spearheading photo shoots with Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Miss May I, Dragonforce, Overkill, Watain, Behemoth, Baroness, and The Agonist, completing two back-to-back magazine cover shoots (Outburn and Hails and Horns), all the while having one cover already on shelves (Hails and Horns), Jeremy will be heading out to L.A. for his first west coast music photography seminar in conjunction with SoundCheck Hollywood.

The two-day seminar and workshop will focus on portrait work with musicians and will cover the entire process—from setting up the photo shoot, scouting locations, posing, different types of lighting and lighting equipment for different situations, shooting endorsements, promotional images, CD layouts, and magazine layouts, to walking attendees through the process of what to do post-shoot, invoicing, getting repeat business, and even how to price yourself. Many other business aspects of being a professional photographer within the music industry will be discussed.

The first day will be the official seminar day, where all of the above is taught in the morning, as well as a lightroom and photoshop post processing tutorial. In the afternoon of day one, attendees will complete mock-photo shoots experimenting with different types of lighting equipment, lighting set-ups, poses, etc. Jeremy has also expanded the music photography business section even more, and will also include private portfolio critique for attendees that specifically request it.

On the second day of the seminar, attendees will experience a hands-on photo shoot of special guest bands done first by Jeremy (as a real-life example), and next by themselves! Attendees will take over and complete a real photo shoot with the band in various locations.

Hopeful attendees must act now; there are only 10 tickets available to this seminar!

On June 23rd at 6pm, SoundCheck Hollywood will re-open to the public. Jeremy will be on-site signing copies of his book Bring The Noise, as well as limited edition prints and some prints exclusive to the seminar weekend.

For more information and tickets, please visit http://www.jeremysaffer.com/soundcheckseminar.
