Deconstruct In Search of New Front-Man!

The story runs deep with Deconstruct. An aggressive, in your face, heavy rock/modern metal band comprised of the brutal, grungy groove oriented guitar riffs of Joe Fraulob (ex-Danzig), the powerful, deep, head-spinning bass lines of Bobby Real (ex-Dedvolt), the bone crushing drums of Tom Frost (ex-Luxt) and vocalist MC Droze’s intense growling and often melodic vocals. Yeah, this band has got it going on … A solid timeline of success, expanded musicianship and continually evolving into a “Post Apocalyptic” Metal genre!

Deconstruct is currently seeking a new front-man to fill the void after original singer Droze moved to another state. MC Droze will be missed and his latest contribution to the soon to be released LP Ashen Empire is nothing short of incredible. “We wish him the best with all his endeavors,” says Fraulob. The full-length album has been recorded, engineered and produced by Joe Fraulob, and mixed by top renowned industry pro, Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios (TestamentMachine Head). Management has been secured under Frankie James (Culture Rock). Professional videos have also been produced by Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art (see video for “Machine” below) and award winning film-maker Josh Pierson and are ready to be released once the timing is right!

The Deconstruct foundation can be traced to guitarist Joe Fraulob’s 2001 courtship with Columbia Records, when his prior band, Side-Swipe, was targeted by the A&R team of John Weakland (Union Underground) and the legendary John Kalodner (Aerosmith). Once the label threw Side-Swipe into the mix of different producers and spent upwards of $30,000 on demos, the band knew they were on to something big. Ultimately, Columbia felt the demos that Fraulob produced at his own studio were the best, which gave Fraulob and the band the confidence to trust their instincts musically, and to fight for their own path. This gave way to the birth of Deconstruct with Fraulob writing for his new project to include an uncompromising vision for a new sound – dark and heavy yet melodic and dynamic – ready for the radio, but powerful enough to crush skulls in a live setting. Fraulob recorded the first Deconstruct demo at his own studio the Pus Cavern where Fraulob had spent the last decade developing his engineering chops recording Sacramento heavyweights such as The Deftones and began to send this demo out to industry pros. After hearing the demo, David Draiman and Dan Donegan of Disturbed personally chose Deconstruct as opener for their Music As A Weapon 2 tour where Deconstruct’s first show was opening for Disturbed, Chevelle, and Taproot in front of an audience of 5000. Immediately, the band’s prowess as a live act was recognized, and Bill Graham Presents placed the band on several amphitheater shows (Iron MaidenDio, and Motorhead at Sleep Train Amphitheater; and Def Leppard at Irvine Meadows). While building their reputation as one of the West Coast’s most hard hitting live acts, Deconstruct began making headway in the world of Rock Radio. The band’s debut EP “Sign Of Things To Come” received play nationwide, enabling Deconstruct to expand their touring base. The work paid off, resulting in more high profile shows with a diverse array of acts including NickelbackPuddle of MuddDrowning PoolDeath AngelHelmet, and Hed PE. The band’s second EP, a sampler of tracks from their forthcoming album, received radio play on over 100 stations. The single “Time Kills” was added to heavy rotation on commercial station WOBX (98X) in North Carolina. Deconstruct also became the only unsigned band to ever receive play on KRXQ in Sacramento’s “Smash or Trash” receiving a 100% listener “Smash” rating. Deconstruct was definitely on the rise and was then chosen by multi-platinum act Korn as main stage openers for the Korn, Chevelle, and Breaking Benjamin concert at Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA. After 2 successful U.S. tours promoting the first Deconstruct album The Human Condition, Fraulob joined the legendary multi-platinum act Danzig as touring lead guitarist for an incredible 2 year run after which Deconstruct took a hiatus. In 2017 Fraulob joined the legendary Bay Area Metal group Trauma and ended up producing and recording their 2019 album As The World Dies. Recording and touring with Trauma inspired Fraulob to reboot Deconstruct to record a new album then to follow up with more main-stage appearances. The crushing new album, Ashen Empire, features long-time Deconstruct members Fraulob, drummer Tom Frost, and vocalist MC Droze, with additional appearances by drummers Darren Minter (Heathen) and Kris Gustofson (Trauma), and bassist Greg Christian (Testament).

Which brings us to the present, 2021 sees Deconstruct with the strongest, hardest hitting, most talented line-up yet. With Fraulob at the helm with his brutal guitar mastery, the thundering super bassist Bobby Real and one of the best drummers in NorCal, Tom Frost, on board, Deconstruct is firing on all cylinders. All three bring their extensive experience to the table to create a sound that is current but unique, extremely heavy yet mesmerizingly melodic and memorable. There’s no doubt success will once again be risen out of the ashes!! A pro studio and practice room has been built, a new album recorded and mastered, extensive press ready to go out and Deconstruct is tour ready!

However, with the loss of their singer MC Droze, this greatness can’t continue until that void is replaced, so Deconstruct is now placing a call to action to all professional “qualified & stage seasoned” vocalists to front this dynamically structured band. Qualified applicants respond at the email below to arrange an audition.

WORLDWIDE PANIC Release Official Music Video for “Party”

 Party Cover Art

LA Based Heavy Metal Band WORLDWIDE PANIC has released the Diego Gonzales directed official music video for their newest single, “Party.”

“In my perspective it was a challenge to us as a band as well as in respect to finding a director. There are no shortages of videographers and directors in Los Angeles County. I know a lot of great ones that are total visionaries and could have easily shot this video and it would have just been another day at the office for them and I didn’t want that. I wanted to find someone who had the same passion for the song that we had. The moment I spoke to and met with Diego and showed him the song and saw his reaction we immediately started storyboarding with each other. It was not an easy task to complete in any regard. We wanted something extremely specific that was based on true life events that occurred in my life. Finding the actors, booking a sound stage, finding a crew, getting props, and be lengthy processes to deal with. A week to the date, Worldwide Panic, myself and Diego spent four hours at a professional soundstage filming the band performance and that weekend we had casted the actors who take this dream and turn it into a nightmare. The scenes portrayed in this video most actually happened to me. It is still difficult for me to watch this and not feel empathy for the actor on screen. I could not believe that those things happened to me in real life and now I am where I am living a happy fulfilling life. I think the rawness captured in this video encapsulates many life lessons I had to learn the hard way. Even with the dark subject matter of the song and video I like that it is done in a fun way and makes something that was very painful entertaining and fun and teaches people to avoid the many pitfalls that exist in society. It is with great pleasure I present, Party!” – Lane Steele (Bass / Vocals)

Player 2

“On this track we had the pleasure of having my good friend Aaron Nordstrom help produce the vocals. He had this to say, “I’ve known Lane Steele for many years since we were in school together. I’ve seen him evolve and work very hard for awhile and find his voice as a musician. I had the pleasure of working on the song “Party” and enjoyed it very much. It was a smooth workflow and resulted in a great song. Take a listen and be sure to catch them on the road with Flaw this fall.”
– Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome)

Return of the Dreads Tour: Dreadfully Entertaining (Korn, Rob Zombie, and In This Moment)

Somehow metal has a way of surviving like a cockroach.  Not your dirty hotel cockroach, though, more like something “Kafkaesque”.  Korn has never really gone away since they hit in the 90’s, Rob Zombie has stayed in the limelight from White Zombie since blowing up mainstream in 92, and In This Moment (since 2005) takes some of those influences and puts them to good use.  What that all added together makes is the sum of Return of the Dreads Tour that was a downright full on blast of great metal music with a lot of showmanship from each band.

To call In This Moment an opener is a bit of a slight, let’s just say they have not built the audience that the co-headliners have…yet.  Maria Brink has always been a beautiful temptress who blurs the lines of what many would believe a “metal singer” sounds like.  She takes that amazing voice, throws in props, wardrobe changes, grand theatrics, and of course the music to truly put together a brand.  Her guitar players, Chris Howorth and Randy Weitzel play off of one another with fluidity and flash.  What was nice about having a more open stage at First Niagara Pavilion was that the audience could see and interact with the band members more.  When ITM plays smaller venues, it is often hard to see the band and what they are doing behind the masks and makeup.  Although Brink is a show unto herself, the addition of the dancers and even the blank expression of Lord Hannibal provide that little extra that provides a memorable experience. (setlist here)

Korn and Rob Zombie have been flip flopping each night as the final performing band.  In Pittsburgh, Rob Zombie followed ITM and put on his usual jaw-dropping performance.  Zombie also employs theatrics on a grander scale with giant aliens, a dancing satan, oversized boom boxes, and tossed to the crowd massive balloons and “E.T.’s” that may or may not be anatomically correct.  Watching Rob Zombie move is a lesson in frenetic motion, he is a blur of dance, bounce, and twirl.  That guttural tone in his voice is as strong as ever, and his band mates are beyond tight.  John 5 put on his usual guitar pyrotechnics and is able to show off just a fraction of what he can do within the confines of Zombie’s genre, he may be one of the most versatile guitar players in music today.  Piggy D and Ginger Fish (bass and drums respectively) held down the beat that is an essential aspect of Zombie’s music, even when throwing in a cover such as Tone Loc‘s “Wild Thing”.  All in all, it was an amazing set with all the hits you would want to hear including some White Zombie material (“More Human Than Human” and “Thunderkiss ’65“). (setlist here)

Korn has been coming to Pittsburgh from the very beginning, playing small venues such as the defunct Metropol.  Korn have never been known to ‘phone it in’ and their performance last week was no exception.  Opening with “Right Now” from Take a Look in the Mirror, the band launched into full out dreads flying mode and set the tone from there.  Even though Korn’s brand of nu-metal may not be at the top of the charts anymore, the band is just as fresh sounding and aggressive as ever.  Pittsburgh’s very own Ray Luzier on drums has become a backbone member of the band and even though Head has been back for a few years now, he plays like someone fighting for starting position.  Korn had a little less of the theatrics to offer, but made up for it with a very tight set that included new material that definitely reminds one of their earlier work.  Davis’ voice is an instrument to itself and playing off of Munky, Fieldy, and the aforementioned Luzier and Head shows why the genre they championed is still alive and well.

WELCOME TO ROCKVILLE Performance Set For April 27

LACUNA COIL are giving fans a first taste of their upcoming new studio album ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ in the form of the album track “Nothing Stands In Our Way,” which the band released today via the Century Media Records Soundcloud page:

https://soundcloud.com/centurymedia/lacuna-coil-nothing-stands/s-ecjkO

“Through everyday battles, against all odds, we stand united and don’t look back. We go on against crashing economies, heartbreaks and lifelong obstacles. We learn from our mistakes and nothing can stop us. We fear nothing and we are determined as musicians and as human beings,” say LACUNA COIL about “Nothing Stands In Our Way.”

‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ is set for releases April 1, 2014 in North America (March 31 in Europe, Australia, New Zealand) on Century Media Records. The album is the band’s seventh studio effort, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to ‘Dark Adrenaline’, which was released in January 2012 and saw the band tour with acts including Megadeth, Motorhead, Volbeat, Sevendust and Paradise Lost after debuting at No. 15 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.

LACUNA COIL return to the road to introduce North America to ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ as part of the REVOLVER HOTTEST CHICKS IN HARD ROCK TOUR, which launches February 20 and features LACUNA COIL sharing a stage with SICK PUPPIES, Century Media Records labelmates EYES SET TO KILL, and CILVER. ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ Track Listing:

  1. Nothing Stands In Our Way
  2. Zombies
  3. Hostage To The Light
  4. Victims
  5. Die & Rise
  6. I Forgive (But I Won’t Forget Your Name)
  7. Cybersleep
  8. Infection
  9. I Burn In You
  10. In The End I Feel Alive
  11. On Cold Day
LACUNA COIL have this to say about ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’:

“What conflict could run so deep that it takes you to the deepest corners of your inner world? Today we are surrounded by a lot of lies, aliases, and people acting like they are wearing an invisible crown – but you better have thick skin if you want to wear this crown! ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ is a cinematic album that could be the soundtrack of our days – it is a dark vision of a near future when survival is second nature, and failure is not something to be avoided, but rather cultivated with lessons learned along the way.

We set the bar pretty high with ‘Dark Adrenaline’ and it hasn’t been easy bringing our sound to the next level, but we have lived, learned and grown through a year full of personal issues and changes. We learned to be strong and get stronger, and we felt an inner vibe in this band that we haven’t felt before. We locked ourselves in an age-old studio in Milan, Italy, where history was strong and the past met with our future, vintage gear and the influence of classic Italian horror movies and bands like Goblin meeting the fresh and rough sounds of the modern world with unique and invigorating results. ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ is Lacuna Coil introducing a new order, and letting nothing stand in our way…”

LACUNA COIL were joined in their native Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner [P.O.D., Sevendust, Evanescence, Papa Roach] and engineer Kyle Hoffmann [P.O.D., Bush, Zebrahead]. ‘BROKEN CROWN HALO’ was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include Rammstein, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Deftones and Sheryl Crow.

Update (2PM ET): The member of Brian ‘Head’ Welch’s family has been rescued by a SWAT team and is unharmed. The suspect in question who took the boy hostage is dead. [via Fox 31 Denver]

A two-day hostage crisis in Arvada, Colo., has caused panic in the neighborhood as a 13-year-old boy is being held captive by an armed suspect. The situation has been ongoing since Feb. 3 at 5:30 PM local time, and now it has been revealed that the teen being held hostage is a family member of Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch.

According to Fox 31 Denver, the suspect reportedly picked a random home and kicked the door down. Some family members inside the home were able to escape once the suspect entered, but the 13-year-old was unable to flea and taken hostage. Fox also reported that the alleged suspect is considered armed and dangerous and has a previous criminal record. Traffic has been blocked off for several blocks around the home.

“We have been in contact with the suspect,” Arvada Police spokesperson Jill McGranahan said. “We’re working very hard to end this situation peacefully.”

At around 12:45 PM ET today, Brian ‘Head’ Welch tweeted the story, revealing that the 13-year-old hostage is his cousin’s son:

Once again, as stated in the update above, the 13-year-old boy is safe while the suspect has been killed.

Korn Begins Reunion Tour 2013 with Brian “Head” Welch in Belle Vernon, PA

So, I’m talking to my buddy Jesus.  No, not that Jesus.  If I talked to that one I’d probably be bilking you for donations and pretending to heal people.  Anyways, he’s on his way to the Korn show in Rostraver.  Freakin’ Rostraver.  Belle Vernon, PA.  Like well out of Pittsburgh.  Why would Korn open their tour and first state side appearance with Brian “Head” Welch back fully with the band at a two thousand seat hockey arena in the middle of east “kubutt”?

Maybe it was the idea to have a nice warm up for the tour, the fact that drummer Ray Luzier’s grew up a stones throw from the place and much of his family was in attendance, or Korn just did not have a clue where Drusky Entertainment was able to book them?  It doesn’t matter, it actually turned out to be pretty spectacular for the fans.

The excitement was pretty palpable for fans and bands alike.  The audience was lined up fairly early in the day, made up of a lot of more rural folk who were pretty pumped for the big event.  But what was even more interesting was to go behind the venue to the buses and see Brian “Head” Welch’s band Love and Death and their nerves piling up. Head himself rolling around in dirt, literally, soiling up his brand spankin’ new white outfit and prepping it for the tour as a film crew captured much of the happenings.  Jonathan Davis cooly going about some last minute sound check vocals.  David Draiman of Device (and Distrurbed?) just returning from his workout at the local gym (that he walked to) and enjoying some nutritious refreshment via Sheetz.  These guys don’t act like rock stars.  They don’t talk like stars.  And most importantly they don’t treat anyone like the stereotypical rock star.

Before the show began I also ran into Josie from KornRow.com.  She is super awesome and it was a pleasure to finally meet her and the people behind KornRow.  Anyways, she shared some pix of her spending the day with some of the members of Korn who invited her, and other fans, hanging out at one of Ray’s family member’s farms  (in the area) complete with camels and a leopard and all kinds of cool exotic animals.  How many bands take their fans on intimate stuff like that? That was all before the show even began.  But the show was what everyone was there for.  Especially because Brian, fondly known as “Head”, was finally fully back with the band and even recording.

This was the first performance with Head in the States and it was going to be a momentous occasion.  They could not have opened with a better song.  It’s the song many of us discovered Korn with and became instant fans.  (I remember seeing the video at 3AM on MTV one early morning after returning from Casey’s Draft House.  It was the next day that CD became mine and my friends soundtrack.  We saw the band at a small college in Ohio, caught them at Metropole, Lollapolooza, hung out with Fieldy and Head backstage at the Vans Warped Tour, and many more times in the beginning of their career.)  All of it started with “Blind” and it remains my favorite song from the band.  Return to present day and the hits just kept on coming (see the set list provided by KornRow.com).  It was a special moment to hear them play “Chi”, especially when my bud Jesus gave Head a Chi sticker he made in honor of Chi Cheng from The Deftones (who was a very good friend of Korn) and he immediately put it on his guitar (see pictures below).  Besides those mentioned, some highpoints would be “Falling Away From Me”, “Coming Undone”, “Another Brick In The Wall” and “Freak On A Leash”.

Korn is back in top form.  For those of you who saw the Stage AE in Pittsburgh show last year, which was very good as well, there is nothing comparable to the interplay between Munky and Head that has returned.  That chemistry was missing and is now back in full force.  The between song guitar banter was mesmerizing.  But as far as reunions go don’t hold your breath for former drummer David Silveria to come back (more on Korn’s end than his), but rather look forward to the release of the new record that promises to be a return to the old formula.

“Essential.” REVOLVER (4/4 stars review!)

“An indispensable oral history of an often misunderstood musical genre.”

KIRKUS REVIEWS (a starred review!)

“I’m not saying this just because I’m in the book, but . . . if you love metal, great stories, and music history told by the people who made it, then Louder than Hell is a must-read.”

—ALICE COOPER

“…the authors’ inclusiveness give this examination a weight that is just as heavy as the music.”

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

“This is the best oral history I’ve read since Please Kill MeLouder than Hell is the first book that really delivers the brutal truth from the mouths of the artists and key players themselves!

I couldn’t put it down.” —MATT PINFIELD

Compiled from over 400 interviews conducted by respected music journalists Jon Wiederhorn and Katherine Turman, LOUDER THAN HELL: The Definitive Oral History of Metal (It Books; May 14, 2013; Hardcover; $32.50) is a chronological history of heavy metal, told through the words of the men and women who created it, played it, re-invented it, and continue to rock it.

Revolver senior editor Wiederhorn and Nights with Alice Cooper producer Turman dug deep into their extensive list of contacts to uncover never-before-heard stories, eye-opening admissions and the truth behind metal’s most explosive legends. Candid and confessional commentary comes straight from icons of the genre, including: Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson, Eddie Van Halen, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Lita Ford, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Axl Rose, Slash, Corey Taylor, Dave Mustaine, Chuck Schuldiner, Lemmy Kilmister, King Diamond, Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Slayer’s Kerry King, Phil Anselmo, Rob Zombie and more. With an introduction by Scott Ian of Anthrax and an afterword by Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and with two 16-page photo inserts, with some never-before seen candid shots by celebrated rock photographers Stephanie Cabral and Robert Matheu, this is the book metal fans have been waiting for.

The many musicians interviewed by these veteran journalists offer their take on their influences, touring, the music business, and songwriting, as well as their often-traumatic upbringings, battles with substance abuse, and bizarre sexual exploits. Industry insiders (including managers, record label executives, family members, friends, scenesters, groupies, journalists, and porn stars) provide additional insight.
From the creation of Black Sabbath in the late 1960s, to Judas Priest’s development of the leather-and-studs look, to Metallica introducing the world to thrash, to the inception of Ozzfest, to Faith No More accidentally creating the first hybrid of rap and metal, to the provocative exploits of the Sunset Strip scene, to the death and destruction surrounding Norwegian black metal, LOUDER THAN HELL gets to the meat of the metal matter:

  • Rob Halford of Judas Priest reveals how he kicked cocaine and alcohol in 1986 after tragically witnessing his boyfriend’s suicide and sought solace in spirituality, which has helped the Metal God stay clean to this day.
  • Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose talks about the early days of Guns N’ Roses, the making of the 36-million-copy-selling debut Appetite for Destruction, and how Robert Willams’ graphic cover art was censored.
  • Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi explains how he lost parts of his fingers while working a day job in a factory – and created homemade prosthetics so he could play guitar, which changed the tonality of the instrument and the sound of heavy metal forever.
  • Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson shares how he dug through his own vomit in search of the balloon of heroin he’d swallowed to avoid being arrested by the police, and then used that heroin to celebrate his victory over not getting busted.
  • Members of Metallica and Anthrax detail the horrifying events of 1986 when Metallica’s tour bus crashed and tipped over, crushing bassist Cliff Burton beneath it while the rest of the members escaped relatively unscathed.
  • Alice Cooper reveals how it was really wheelchair-bound members of his AUDIENCE who tore the live chicken apart during his fateful concert in Toronto, while Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne give first-person accounts of Ozzy biting the head off a dove while wasted during a high-level record company meeting, and decapitating a bat onstage during his Diary of a Madman tour.
  • Hellhammer, drummer of Norway’s pioneering black metal band Mayhem, talks about ex-vocalist Dead committing suicide and how guitarist Euronymous used a chunk of Dead’s brain to make a Mexican stew.
  • Biohazard guitarist Billy Graziadei details how gang bangers stabbed a member of the group’s posse with a hunting knife while shouting, “Payback, Motherfucker!” and how the band vowed to retaliate. Vocalist Evan Seinfeld also recounts his graphic sexual liaisons while on tour, and how they led to his career in porn.
  • Slipknot bassist Paul Gray (who died of an overdose at age 38 during the writing of LOUDER THAN HELL) discusses the evolution of the lineup; physical fights between band members, and his own struggles with addiction.

LOUDER THAN HELL explores the transformation of metal culture, with stories and anecdotes straight from the mouths of the most infamous and successful bands. Filled with hundreds of revealing interviews representing every type and era of heavy metal—from metal progenitors such as Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, and the MC5 to current day innovators including Slipknot, Mastodon, and Lamb of God—LOUDER THAN HELL is the ultimate look behind the curtain at one of our most dynamic, controversial and enduring musical genres.

Advance Praise for LOUDER THAN HELL:

Louder Than Hell comes straight from the twisted minds of rock icons and flows seamlessly through various eras of heavy metal. You hear from the guys that were there on the stage, in the pit, puking in the gutter. It brought back memories, and I even learned a few things I never knew. I really dig this book.”  —Riki Rachtman, DJ, VJ

“Books on the history of even something as cool as metal can be a bit antiseptic and boring—not this one. It’s the story straight from the horse’s mouth. Even better is when the horses have experimented with drugs and black out occasionally. . .” —Brendon Small, creator of Dethklok and Metalocalypse

“Who likes rock n roll here?? Well if you do, this is the book for you! Every rock has been overturned, every band has been analyzed, quoted, and lionized and every page offers a new fact or figure that you probably didn’t know. This is the definitive chronicle of all that is heavy metal and I’ve read them all!”  —Chris Jericho, Fozzy

“Katherine Turman and Jon Wiederhorn know metal. Louder than Hell is an amazing gathering of different breeds of heavy metal rockers telling the tales metal fans want to hear.”

—Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine

“This is the book every metal fan should own. A fascinating high-octane chronicle of metal mayhem that takes readers on a wild ride, from metal’s earliest days to the head-banging present. I’m not saying this just because I’m in the book, but . . . if you love metal, great stories, and music history told by the people who made it, then Louder than Hell is a must-read.”

—Alice Cooper

Louder than Hell is a love letter to the misunderstood genre of heavy metal music, written by trusted companions who had a front row seat on the devil’s rollercoaster. The definitive chronological testimony by the people who were there, including some who are no longer with us.” —Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray and co-host Extra

“An amazingly comprehensive book on all eras and genres of hard rock and heavy metal. The stories and attention to detail make it an instant must for anyone who ever was or is a fan.”

—Eddie Trunk, DJ and host of “That Metal Show” on VH1 Classic

PIG DESTROYER Re-Signs to Relapse Records

Fresh on the heels of the release of their critically acclaimed fifth album Book Burner, The undisputed kings of grind PIG DESTROYER have re-signed with their long time record label home Relapse Records.

The band commented on the re-signing with Relapse:

“Super excited to be a part of the extraordinary Relapse Records again! A song comes to mind in the melody of the “Team America” jingle. “Relapse, FUCK YEAH! Once again, signing a muthafuckin contract!”
– Adam Jarvis

“Relapse has been a great home for both ANb and PIG DESTROYER since the very early days. We’re not an easy band to deal with but Relapse has been patient, enthusiastic, and accommodating to our headache-inducing schedules, our strict adherence to not touring or behaving like a normal band, and just generally being pains-in-the-asses. We wouldn’t trade that for anything.”
– Scott Hull

“I don’t always sign contracts with record labels, but when I do, I choose Relapse.”
-jR Hayes

Book Burner which was released October 22nd features 19 tracks with a return to the band’s raw, misanthropic sound. Book Burner is available on multiple formats including CD, Deluxe 2xCD, LP, Deluxe 2xLP, Cassette and Digital. All of the editions are available for order via Relapse Records and iTunes.

The deluxe editions each contain a bonus disc of punk covers and a short story, titled The Atheist, penned by frontman JR Hayes. The Atheist is a post-apocalyptic tale about a decaying world taken over by the violence of religion that showcases the renowned lyricists’ unsurpassed style for the first time as prose. The deluxe 2xLP also contains an etched b-side featuring artwork by Wormrot frontman Arif Rot.

In support of Book Burner, PIG DESTROYER will be making special appearances at various festivals including Decibel Magazine’s 100th Issue Anniversary Show and Maryland Deathfest 2013.

Dead Sara Release New Tour Video Full of Fan Submitted Photos

Dead Sara has released a new tour video featuring personal fan submitted photos alongside live footage of the band for the song “We Are What You Say” (Fan Edition), from their self-titled debut album. The video, directed by Jared Sagal of Rockerazzi Films, also includes never-before-seen live concert and behind-the-scenes footage of the band, all taken from recent tours with Chevelle, The Used, The Vans Warped Tour, and the Sunset Strip Music Festival. The video is now premiering exclusively online at Alternative Press: http://www.altpress.com/aptv/video/video_premiere_dead_sara_we_are_what_we_say. Dead Sara is currently on the road with The Offspring and Neon Trees in the U.S., before heading overseas to Europe this fall for a U.K. tour with Twin Atlantic and the Vans Warped Tour show in London. Additional tour dates will be announced.

Revolver says “the buzz around LA-based hard-rock outfit Dead Sara is reaching fever pitch” and indeed it is. The group has been earning accolades from radio and critics alike, while winning over fans coast-to-coast. Rolling Stone recalled the band “blending blues, hard rock and punk into a whirling energy,” with The Village Voice going on to illustrate them as a “sort of twisted-blues hard rock that feels like the product of people really enjoying playing the shit out of their instruments,” adding “If there’s any justice, especially in this year when the word ‘rock’ signifies a genre that is in flux enough so as to be anyone’s game, Dead Sara will stake their claim as a new kind of standard-bearer.”

Dead Sara’s 11-track self-titled debut, produced by Noah Shain (Atreyu, As Tall As Lions, Sonny Moore/Skrillex), is driven by the dynamic duo of two talented young women, singer Emily Armstrong and guitarist Siouxsie Medley. The band is rounded out by bassist Chris Null and drummer Sean Friday, creating an electrifying four-piece rock band whose supercharged music is propelled by Medley’s exhilarating, monster guitar riffs and Armstrong’s powerful, wailing vocals. Praised for their blazing impassioned rock and catchy guitar melodies, Dead Sara embody everything you want from a young, hungry, unpredictable and enigmatic rock band.

KORN PITTSBURGH 6/19/2012

Korn’s return to Pittsburgh to promote The Path of Totality (featuring Skrillex) took a cue from the experienced: ‘new stuff is fine, but what we really want are the hits’. Although their opening acts of J DEVIL (Korn frontman Davis as his alter ego) and EDM artist SLUGGO stayed with their very new and profitable direction of dub step sounds, Korn knows where their bread and butter will always lay. Their set opened with a video (that was really just to set the mood) and then straight into barn-burners such as ‘Divine’, ‘Predictable’, and ‘Good God’. The crowd was intensely fired up and raucous from the get-go. The mosh pit breathed with its own fire and lifeblood to the security’s dismay. This is the kind of stuff a Pittsburgh crowd lives for and stays loyal to their favorite bands to see.
Newcomer to the group Ray Lazier is a West Newton boy and it was great to see him soaking up his hometown crowd with his family and friends. But, the rest of the Korn boys are no stranger to Pittsburgh and it’s ilk. Having spent time with Fieldy and former member Head during their Lollapalooza in ’97 (and a next week following visit to their former friends in Limp Bizkit at the Warped Tour), it is quickly acquiesced that their fans are most important. Jonathan Davis was spot on in his vocal range and produced an Energizer Bunny like performance. Sound was top notch as evidenced by the ‘second half’ of the set which ventured into the newest material. Pulling off the dub step sound, yet retaining metal funk mastery, Korn proved why they took the gamble to tweak their sound and collaborate with Skrillex. When the hit ‘Get Up’ came up in the set the audience’s heads where mimicking their heroes head throws, others moshed, and quite a few danced the night away.
The third act of the show went back to basics and churned out ‘Here to Stay’, ‘Freak on a Leash’, ‘Falling Away From Me’, and what may have been the shows highlight, their cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ from their 2004 greatest hits collection. The live version puts the studio track to shame and was stunning in sound and musicianship. Korn’s encore ‘Shoots and Ladders’, ‘Got the Life’ and of course the song that took them from Bakersfield, CA and put them on the path to fame: ‘Blind’.
It will be interesting what direction Korn takes next, but wherever their next venture leads, it is sure to be worth it to catch it live and in person. For a band that has been in the industry for as long as they have to continue to take risks, survive personnel losses and personal issues, and continue to keep their fans in mind and heart it is impressive they do not ‘mail it in’ but fight with artistic integrity to stay Kings of the Hill.

SUNFLOWER DEAD – Featuring Ex Members of DROID and Touring Members of BUCKETHEAD, IN THIS MOMENT and More

Jamie Teissere, guitarist of defunct metal band Droid, has announced the launch of his new project, SUNFLOWER DEAD. After multiple U.S. tours with bands such as Korn, Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch and Hell Yeah supporting Droid’s debut on Munky from Korn’s Emotional Syphon Recordings, the guitarist was by no means ready to quit the music game after Droid’s sudden demise.

Wasting no time, he assembled a new outfit consisting of Michael (vocals, piano, accordion), Jaboo (guitar) formerly of Two Hit Creeper, Luis Gascon (bass) touring member of Buckethead, and Jimmy Schultz (drums) touring drummer of In This Moment with a goal of creating an undeniable unit that would not just move but more importantly, entertain people.

The group dubbed themselves SUNFLOWER DEAD and went into Temple Studios (owned by Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory and B Real of Cyrpress Hill) with Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory) to produce their 11- track self-titled debut record, set to release on August 21, 2012 with Bloody Bat Records LLC. Co-produced and mixed by Jeremy Blair (Guns N’ Roses, DevilDriver) at Temple and House of Blues Studios, and mastered by Robert Hadley (Korn) at The Mastering Lab, the album has a tight, punchy sound with crushing low end and ultra wide sonics.

This record is an intense, in your face, emotionally charged roller coaster of dark, aggressive, and spell-bindingly dynamic heaviness with no shortage of anthemic sing along vocals.

“SUNFLOWER DEAD are a refreshing sound with a great vocal range, not like your average current metal/rock band,” commented producer Christian Olde Wolbers. “This is just the debut, but SUNFLOWER DEAD have tremendous potential to break in a bigger market and they have proved it with this strong debut.”

“This album is fucking dope,” added co-producer Jeremy Blair. “This band came in with the record they wanted to make and it was a pleasure to help them accomplish their goal without any outside negative influences. The songs, the playing, and hooks are sick. I believe this record will be huge.”

The band recently released an EPK teaser that can be viewed at this location. The EPK serves as a first look into SUNFLOWER DEAD’s sound, look and story that is described as a cross between Reservoir Dogs, 30 Days of Night, The Crow and The Warriors.

SUNFLOWER DEAD plans to release a new music video for the single ‘Make Me Drown’ in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates coming soon on the new self-titled album and music video.

Korn Returns to Pittsburgh Stage AE

KORN have just announced a string of June tour dates that will take the ground-breaking, multi-platinum band through the Northeast, Midwest and Canada. Openers on the tour include frontman JONATHAN DAVIS DJing as his alter ego J Devil, as well as dubstep talent Sluggo. Ticket information and special VIP packages can found at korn.com.
This touring news comes on the heels of KORN’s brand new video for “Way Too Far.” The comically surreal video, directed by Joshua Allen and produced by Sebastien Paquet, debuted at Noisey.com this week. Preceding the debut, several bizarre photos of the band from the video surfaced on their Facebook page—one featuring bassist Fieldy getting a face tattoo and another showing frontman Davis holding a rifle and then bloodied on the ground.

KORN released their new album THE PATH OF TOTALITY this past December, where it debuted in the Top Ten on Billboard and earned media accolades including a Sunday profile in the New York Times. The album has also been a fixture on Billboard’s Dance Electronic Albums chart and has sold over 500,000 digital singles from the album—a staggering amount for a rock band. The album also features the new single “Way Too Far” as well as “Get Up!” and “Narcissistic Cannibal,” the later two of which were Top Ten hits at Active Rock Radio.
KORN made waves this recently when founding member Brian “Head” Welch joined his former bandmates onstage for the first time in nine years in front of 30,000 amazed fans at this year’s Carolina Rebellion Festival.

Meanwhile, KORN last month took home the REVOLVER Golden God Award for “Album of the Year,” presented by Marshall Amplification, for THE PATH OF TOTALITY (Roadrunner).
