Middle Class Rut To Hit The Road This April With Chevelle + Headlining Tour in February, March

“Their sound is nothing short of colossal, and one that a mere two‐piece shouldn’t be able to create, combining the boisterous swagger and pomp of Jane’s Addiction and the feral fury of Rage Against the Machine.” – Kerrang!

We are proud to announce that the Sacramento, CA-based duo Middle Class Rut will be embarking on an exciting new tour this April where they will open for Chicago rock actChevelle.

Middle Class Rut has toured with Chevelle in the past, as well as with the likes of Muse, Social Distortion, Them Crooked Vultures, Alice In Chains, 30 Seconds To Mars andLinkin Park, among others. Before hitting the road with Chevelle in April, MCR will also perform a string of headlining dates with Dinosaur Pile Up and Brick and Mortar; see all dates below.

Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Zack Lopez and vocalist/drummer Sean Stockham, Middle Class Rut raised the bar with their latest release, June 2013’s Pick Up Your Head, which sees the duo opening up their sound. “We realized we’d exhausted everything we could do with drums, guitar, and vocals,” Lopez explains. “Once we decided to take an ‘anything goes’ approach, the songs poured out. We were freer with layering and didn’t worry if we couldn’t reproduce it live, as long as we captured the music with the highest energy possible.”

Nine Inch Nails Surprise with New Album Finished

Seems Trent Reznor has been up to quite a bit more than just tour plans as of late.  Yesterday via Tumblr he announced that NIN has completed work on a new LP:

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
In related NIN news, Trent also announced the return of  Robin Finck, “I am proud to announce that the tour lineup now includes the incredible Robin Finck. The addition of Robin to the mix of players I’ve assembled makes this band incredibly powerful and versatile. We are deep in the rehearsal process and it feels exciting and great to be back at this. Lots of information, surprises and sweat headed your way”.
Robin heads back into the fold after the strange departure of Eric Avery.  Recently Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro had a few things to say about Avery and his inability to stay committed to anything on his podcast Dark Matter
Keep you social media eyes peeled for what Trent and NIN are up to next.

WAYLON SPEED Releases New Album Valance

“Less is more.” That’s the mantra that Rev. Chitwood Hammaker, brothers Noah and Justin Crowther, and Kelly Ravin deployed as they converged from a honky-tonk in Burlington, Vermont, to create WAYLON SPEED.

Ever since WAYLON SPEED formed in April 2009, the four-piece brotherhood of family and past friends has toured nationally and collected fans like empties at a pig roast in support of their albums: the debut, Georgia Overdrive; their two-disc sophomore set, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades; The Boots EP and their latest effort, Valance.

The band will be headed out on the road in support of Valance this March. A complete list of dates can be found below.

The press has called WAYLON SPEED “gas on the fire of the current music scene” and “heavy, fiery country rock, for those who like their punk rock with some twang in it – but also appreciate high quality, intelligent songwriting.”

Ask WAYLON SPEED what it seeks from its stained-blue-collar, straight-up-from-the- underground rock, and the answer is simple: make people happy. The evidence is at their aim-to-please shows, where audience connection is a priority.

WAYLON SPEED has shared bills with: Jane’s Addiction, Clutch, Little Feat, Reba McEntire, Elvis Costello, Primus, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. They have been influenced by bands such as: Motorhead, Fugazi, The Mother Hips, The Drive-By Truckers, and Frank Zappa. Waylon Speed’s influences are not mainstream music.

About Perry Farrell:
Perry Farrell is one of the most influential and original musical figures in recent history. Dubbed as the “Godfather of Alternative Rock,” Farrell fronts Jane’s Addiction, which formed in 1985. Creating a new genre and musical movement, Farrell and Jane’s Addiction changed the music scene and paved the way for bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and STP. As well as being a groundbreaking musician, he is the creator and founder of Lollapalooza. Launched in 1991, Spin magazine listed Lollapalooza as the #1 tour that changed the world. The first of its kind, Lollapalooza quickly established itself as a lifestyle festival, pushing the envelope and exposing concert goers to a subculture of ‘alternative’ living and art, and provided a platform for numerous environmental and human-rights causes as well. As a constant creative force, Farrell continues to push his own artistic horizon as a music producer, electronic music performer and visual artist, as well as a rock icon.

About Dobel Tequila:
Maestro Dobel is a Single Estate, 100% Agave tequila. The crystal clear spirit comes packaged in a heavily embossed bottle inspired by vintage laboratory glassware used by the Maestro Tequileros (master distillers) in early part of the last century.

Jane’s Addiction Leaves Pittsburgh With Lifetime Memories

“I don’t want to leave. I like it here.” Thus spoke frontman of pre-grunge craze masters Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrell. With an array of ambient lighting and a somewhat theatrical backdrop, the band delighted the Pittsburgh crowd with hits, hidden gems, and new favorites peppered with flavorful stage banter from Farrell, precision blistering fretwork from Navarro, and the ever constant tribal backbeat of Perkins. The original trio (plus bassist Chaney filling in for original member Avery) that shocked us out of our musical doldrums in the late eighties was more than ready to entertain and mystify the diehard fans, the curious, and the newfound fanatics with a “club-like” show that allowed everyone to feel up close and personal.
The eclectic Pittsburgh crowd brought together lovers of metal, classic rock, dance, funk, and a myriad of other genres to revel in the spectacle Janes’ has been producing for 27 odd years. Despite a few sound issues with vocals sometimes a bit low and one incident with Navarro’s speaker, the set was virtually flawless. With classics such as “Mountain Song”, “Been Caught Stealin'”, “Jane Says”, and “Three Days” any fan would be satisfied. Throw in throwbacks like “Whores”, “Summertime Rolls”, “Ocean Size”, and “Stop!” and you have your cake and eat it too. The icing could very well be performances of “Up the Beach”, “Chip Away” (with show openers Big Black Delta), and “Just Because” to top off one hell of an experience for all involved.
The band members truly seemed to be enjoying themselves, reveling in the opportunity to actually interact with the fans up close. Perry brought up The Steelers and The Pirates, seeming to be very aware that the town was finally doing well in baseball, and even donning a crowd thrown Pirate cap for awhile. He even remembered that old time Pirate Doc Ellis threw a no-hitter on LSD once and told the crowd how great of a video on YouTube Doc’s explanation is and threw in to his cohort Navarro, “Hey we played some great shows on LSD!”. Farrell truly was the ring master of the evening, dancing and gyrating his way through the tunes and keeping everyone on their feet. Of course, guitarist Dave Navarro was mesmerizing, not only for his guitar work and showmanship, but for his physical beauty as well. And in the pocket as always was one of the most truly underrated drummers of rock, Stephen Perkins, who is really mind-blowingly talented. Without Perkins, Janes’ could never really pull off their signature sound. Of course bassist Chris Chaney makes a great rhythmic pair for Perkins and hold his own as well.
The night’s highlights were certainly the acoustic jam of “Jane Says” with the entire crowd singing along, the spiritual journey that is “Three Days”, and the in your face power of “Whores” and “Ain’t No Right”. Farrell strayed a bit from the normal vocalization of “Been Caught Stealin'” which may have bummed some fans, and some of the onstage theatrics during one of the songs, that included repeated beatings of baby dolls, may have left some of the less artfully motivated a bit confused- but all in all the show was simply amazing. As a whole this was the type of show you start with, “I saw Janes’ Addiction play club style once at Stage AE” and maybe the little whipper snappers you tell the tale to will be enthralled that someone they once thought was uncool was way more hip than all of them combined. Long live Jane’s Addiction.

JANE’S ADDICTION North American “Theatre of the Escapists” Tour

Photo: Eliot Lee Hazel

JANE’S ADDICTION turn up the heat for the third leg of their North American “Theatre of the Escapists” tour. Joining them on their new summer dates–which go on sale this week—will be various support acts on select shows including Mutemath, Band of Skulls and Die Antword.
The immersive theatrical experience of the “Theatre of the Escapists” carnival–described by the Dallas Morning News as “a sanctuary for freaks and fetishes” (5/11/12)–is captured in this short film now posted at ArtistDirect. (http://www.artistdirect.com/entertainment-news/article/jane-s-addiction-debut-theatre-of-the-escapists-video-on-artisdirect-com/10071806), with stellar sets that highlight material from their acclaimed album THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST (Capitol Records) plus classic songs that have not been played in more than twenty years, such as “Classic Girl” and “I Would for You.”
Citi® cardmembers will have access to presale tickets for these shows starting Wednesday, May 16 at 10 AM through 10 PM on Thursday, May 17 (or until the show sells out) through Citi’s Private Pass® Program. For complete presale details, visit http://www.citiprivatepass.com/. JANE’S ADDICTION’s presale at http://www.janesaddiction.com/ will also occur on the same dates and purchasers will have the option of bundling their ticket with an unsigned special edition tour lithograph and a 20% discount at the JANE’S ADDICTION online store (excluding media and bundles). Regular on sales are set for Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19.
Frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass, just embarked on the second leg of the tour last week in the Southwest and continue to garner critical acclaim. “Once considered a high priest of rock decadence, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell may well be the best preserved of the post-punk, grunge and alternative rock survivors,” wrote Hector Saldaña, SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS (5/7/12) of their show at the Lila Cockrell Theatre. “The wiry frame and wide-eyed, diabolical onstage persona propels this act as much as guitarist Dave Navarro’s high-on-the-neck dive bombs, Chris Chaney’s rattling bass or Stephen Perkins relentless onslaught on the drums. Farrell created bedlam with his dance moves and slinky, sexual presence on ‘Just Because’ and the classic ‘Been Caught Stealing.’”
