A CRIME CALLED Release Official Music Video for “On These Days”

Italian alternative rock quartet A CRIME CALLED has released the official music video for their new single, “On These Days.” With aggressive guitars and soaring vocals, the dark setting for the video matches the tapestry of dark themes woven throughout “On These Days.”

“Progress and technology have put us in a strange physical and mental condition, making life a sort of paradox; we can have it all and have nothing at the same time, feel alone despite all of the social activities. We are part of a mechanism that eats, assimilates and spits us out in a very short time. We don’t understand if we are the protagonists or spectators of our life… The video was shot in a couple of hours, with the idea to turning our rehearsal room into a sort of set depicting pandemic restrictions” – ANDREA VERDI

A CRIME CALLED Release Official Music Video for “Tidal Waves”

IMG 5134

Italian alternative rock quartet A CRIME CALLED has released the official music video for “Tidal Waves,” the second single off of their newly released album, A New Path.

““In a period of lock down and restrictions, we find ourselves making a virtue of necessity.Days, life and love is going up and down like a tide. ‘Tidal Waves’ fully respect the difficult period that unites us all together.” – ANDREA VERDI

“Tidal Waves” was Recorded and mixed by Dan Korneff (ParamorePierce The VeilPapa Roach) at Sonic Debris, mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, and produced by Andrea Fusini at Fusix Studios in Turin, Italy.

“High energy and invincible from the outset, self-proclaimed purveyors of ‘rock from a galaxy faraway’, A Crime Called… bring us nine tumultuous tunes. Big keys? Check. Banging drums? Yep. A lead singer not afraid to let his lungs rip and ballsy backing vocals? Absolutely! What’s not to like? Each song is an indefatigable injection of rock so polished it could be classed as a diamond. A New Path is ambitious. Its tracks are anthemic. And just one listen will power you up to face the world for another day.” – JO WRIGHT – Devolution Magazine

Interview: pop-punk emo band from Canada, Marianas Trench

Marianas Trench: the pop-punk emo band from Canada that has been around for the better part of this millennium.  The group has gone through its ups and downs, with the most recent of downs resulting in the high that lead to the creation of Astoria.  The band has been touring for about a year, and has gone through the 10 year anniversary of their album, Fix Me.  In a recent email interview, we had the chance to talk to Mariana’s Trench guitarist Matt Webb about Astoria, the 10 year anniversary of Fix Me, and what it is like to tour around the world with the other members of the band.

Webb remarks that it did not feel like 10 years since the release of Fix me.  He also notes that the band’s sound has very much evolved since then.  He says, “We have a lot of respect for artists that continue to reinvent themselves, it seems to be an integral part of a lengthy career in the music business.  For that reason you’ll notice that Astoria doesn’t sound much like Fix Me.”  (Webb, 2016) The band has taken on a very 80s sound, basing the latest album, loosely, on “Coming of Age Adventure Movies.”  One such movie being The Goonies which takes place in the town Astoria.  Matt talks about how he and the rest of the group keep the 80s vibe going on tour.  He says the band watches a different 80s movie on the bus every night.  He admits that they do find other ways of keeping it up as well, stating, “I find you can keep the 80s vibe going as long as you’re wearing tight pants, rocking a keytar, and exposing your man-chest whenever possible.” (Webb, 2016)

As mentioned, the band has been on tour for about a year, travelling to multiple countries outside of Canada.  This means keeping occupied with activities, that, according to Matt, usually involve food and disinfecting the tour bus.  The band also stays at some interesting places on tour.  They find everything from dead rats in showers to kind old ladies offering to do laundry.  He says this doesn’t usually affect their shows though.  “We’re gonna rock the f*&k out anywhere we go, but somedays we smell better than others.” (Webb, 2016)  The band truly believes that the travel is well worth it, as Matt mentions the incredibly rewarding feeling of packing a venue.  An incredibly rewarding feeling is generated from filling a venue with fans that know every single word to their songs.  Lastly, he left with some advice for young musician who look forward to one day celebrating 10 year anniversaries for well-known albums.  Matt says, “Concentrate on writing badass songs.  Then work as hard as you possibly can to get them in the hands of as many people as possible.  Whether it’s through endless touring, online hustling, hand-billing, yelling them from the top of a mountain, ain’t nobody gonna get big if no one hears your shit.” (Webb, 2016)

Marianas Trench headlined at Mr.  Small’s Theatre in July of this year.  This was the second time they have played at the venue in 2016.  They are currently touring in the United Kingdom.

Ronnie James Dio‘s sinister howl and wicked songcraft bewitched hard rock fans in the Seventies and Eighties during his memorable stints with Elf, Rainbow and Black Sabbath.Dio‘s successful solo career led to 10 studio albums and sales of more than 10 million records around the world.
After two albums with Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio left in 1982 and formed Dio with fellow Sabbath band mate Vinny Appice on drums. TRAGODIA: Epic Italian Act Completing Third Album For Kolony Records Release

Italian metal label Kolony Records will bring their country’s own TRAGODIA to their heavily-expanding roster, as the band prepares to release its third full-length release worldwide in the coming months.

Based out of Italy’s Northern Italian commune of Brescia, TRAGODIA has released two full-length albums to date, beginning with their debut The Promethean Legacy, released in 2007, followed by 2012’s more expansive Theomachy. With a charging, versatile and at times progressive approach to melodic metal, a blend of vocal styles, blazing solos and straightforward sections of crushing, classic but modernized thrash-inspired songwriting fuel the band’s works.

With the fresh steam behind their engines still hot after last year’s Theomachy album, the band began creating their next opus, in the meantime having caught the attention of Kolony Records, who signed TRAGODIA for the release of their nearly-completed third studio full-length. The quintet has been hard at work constructing the layered new release over recent weeks, which is guaranteed to boast the most epic tunes of the band’s creation to date. Commented guitarist Francesco Lupi: “We are very happy to enter Kolony Records’ excellent roster and to be part of this very fast growing label. Kolony Records is becoming well known for always striving to reach a balance between sheer musical quality and winning marketing strategies. We are also confident to have a killer album under our belt!”

Confirmed info on the new TRAGODIA album will be available soon, but in the meantime the band has posted a detailed studio report of the album’s progress at local Piacenza-based Elfo Studio with producer Daniele Mandelli (Forgotten Tomb) where the band is this week completing the new album; check it out at HERE. Stay tuned for brand new updates in the coming days.

ZOLLE Reaps Debut LP; Peruse The Duo’s Harvest At Altsounds

Blazing out of the backwoods of Lodi, Italy, the ZOLLE duo this week harvest their belligerently unhinged self-titled, debut full-length of rural rampage!

The fully instrumental chaos ZOLLE drunkenly stumbles triumphantly through rages with lively off-kilter riff marches and schizokiller percussive thunder, distressed builds and healthy disharmony. Recorded with a nearly fully live performance by Michelangelo Roberti at Mizkey Studio (Morkobot) and mastered by Giovanni Versari (Zu, Morkobot, OvO, One Dimensional Man), utilizing a massive copper drum kit and an old digital 1950s amp coalescing into a mammoth, organic sound. The album also bears gifts of synth from Urlo (Ufomammut, Supernatural Cat) and Roberto Rizzo (Quasiviri, Runi). Zolle is out now on Supernatural Cat — the underground label run by Malleus Rock Art Lab, the artist collective featuring two members of the psychedelic doom trio Ufomammut. Order the hand-screened 180-gram LP with included CD limited Malleus edition of Zolledirect from the label here.

To celebrate the bountiful harvest, today ZOLLE shares their wares with all who care everywhere through Altsounds; STREAM IT HERE.

ZOLLE also recently released a massive video for their opus “Forko” from the album, an undertaking of monstrous proportions with a near major motion picture production budget. Check out the “Forko” epic HERE.

The ZOLLE clan will venture across the their homeland performing throughout the Spring and Summer seasons, with several shows confirmed between May and August, followed by a European tour with Ufomammut in September and October, the full routing to be announced shortly.

ZOLLE Italian Live Itinerary:

5/17/2013 Club dell’Olmo – Santa Fiora, Grosseto w/ Autoblastindog

5/18/2013 Dal Verme – Roma w/ Lili Refrain

5/31/2013 Meltin Pop – Arona, Novara w/ Evolution ov Violence
6/26/2013 SoloMacello Fest – Segrate, Milano w/ Red Fang, Karma to Burn

6/29/2013 Sidro Club – Savignano sul Rubicone, Forlì-Cesena
7/20/2013 Rock Valley Festival – S. Maria della Versa, Pavia w/ Zeus, Toner Low, Town Portal, Kubark
8/23/2013 Casa della Grancetta – Senigallia, Ancona

“No vocalist needed for this aural assault…what you do get is instant head banging riffs driven by big drums and guitar rhythms that can’t decide if they’re mathy or sludgy, psychedelic, or doomy.” – Invisible Oranges

“Goddamn, this rocks. Yeah, this is off-kilter for sure but in a damn good way. The buzzsaw riffs are incredibly interesting and total headbangers. And other than the epic last track, everything is under three minutes long, so Zolle rips shit up and moves on. Killer. 9/10” – Popdose

“It’s the subtle nature of arrangement that is the key to its success. It slowly insinuates itself in you and before you realize it your pulse is pounding and you start looking over your shoulder for some leather masked crazy in soft but deliberate pursuit. 8/10” – This Is Not A Scene

“At the center of their sound is the guitar of Marcello Lan who clearly had visions of volcanoes, herds of rhinos, and everything else that makes the Earth shake and rumble when penning these riffs.  Hovering around him the whole time is the drumming of Stefano, who circles around those riffs like a celestial body waiting so patiently to crash and explode into something, anything, that comes into his orbit.” – Metal Insider

Metal icons MEGADETH are delivering volcanic performances and earning rave reviews on their co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie, which marks the first time the two bands have toured together. The trek kicked off Friday, May 11 in Holmdel, NJ and will include two high-profile rock festival appearances including Rock On The Range and Rocklahoma, where the tour wraps on Saturday, May 26. A list of confirmed dates is below. For additional information on purchasing tickets, visit www.megadeth.com.

Prior to the show, the New York Times proclaimed that “the speed pioneers Megadeth have the decibels to fill the grandiose PNC” and the New York Daily News said, “At last year’s faceoff with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, the band led by Dave Mustaine offered a set that did both their sub-genre and legacy proud (5/10/12).”

In a review of the first show, Tris McCall of the Newark, NJ Star-Ledger said, “While most of the band’s peers have either slowed down, broken up or switched to a more profitable style, Megadeth presses on, hard and fast as ever. Mustaine is a study in perseverance–and professionalism, too: He recently had to re-learn how to play guitar after suffering nerve damage in his arm. That trauma has left no mark on him–his solos, sometimes taken in harmony with sideman Chris Broderick, are as dextrous, and rapid-fire, as ever (5/13/12).” Theexaminer.com added, “The musicians ripped and shredded their way through riffs and solos with machine-like precision, yet somehow projecting an earnest passion through the notes that speaks to the raw emotion of Mustaine’s songwriting (5/13/12).”

After their tour with ROB ZOMBIE wraps at Rocklahoma, MEGADETH–singer/guitarist DAVE MUSTAINE, bassist DAVID ELLEFSON, drummer SHAWN DROVER and guitarist CHRIS BRODERICK–will head to Europe for shows in Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Czech Republic, England, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France, Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, then in September will head to South America for concerts in Chile, Argentina and Mexico.

A newly released video for the group’s next single “Whose Life (Is It Anyway?)” can be seen now.. The video is a heavy metal tour de force, depicting youth angst turned violent, resulting in an apocalyptic finale.

The current tour comes on the heels of MEGADETH’s critically acclaimed return of the traveling festival GIGANTOUR, created and curated by frontman DAVE MUSTAINE. Rave reviews poured in for the festival, which also featured MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and LACUNA COIL. “The return of Gigantour, a nicely curated package tour of heavy metal bands, is just one more step in a great run underway by Megadeth,” wrote the Boston Globe. “It was a smart and well-paced show, one that illuminated metal’s various angles (1/31/12).”

2011 marked the release of MEGADETH’s 13th album, the appropriately titled Th1rt3en. Released November 1 on Roadrunner Records, the album debuted at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #1 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart. The album also landed on international charts including Top 10 placements in Argentina, Finland, Korea and Japan. MEGADETH also received their tenth Grammy nomination for this project, earning a “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” nomination for their single “Public Enemy #1.” The “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” category was, eerily, category #13.
