New Delhi based Indian Metal Band BLOODYWOOD has released the official music video for their newest single, “Yaad.” Shot in between the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas and urban India, the music video celebrates the universal human experience of love and loss through a moving story between a man and his companion dog.

“’Yaad’ (Hindi for ‘remember’ or ‘in memory’) is about the power of accepting the loss of a loved one and moving on. The lyrics celebrate the permanent impact they have on us, reiterating the belief that we carry them in our best memories, no matter how far apart we may be, says Karan Katiyar, Bloodywood’s Founder/guitarist, “I lost my dog 10 years ago and I still feel the loss to this day. I wanted the video to show the bond between a man and his dog to highlight its message.”

In spirit of the message within the song and video, Bloodywood funded the purchase of an animal ambulance for a local non-profit animal shelter called The Posh Foundation, who had to recently scrap their existing ambulance due to overuse and break-downs and were in dire need of a new one.

The new ambulance, which will help save the lives of over 27,000 homeless animals in the National Capital Region of India over the next 5 years, was purchased by the band using the profits made on their very successful 2019 debut tour of Europe named Raj Against the Machine Tour and through their crowdfunding page on Patreon.

Bloodywood were scheduled to make their US debut at the Sonic Temple Festival which has been cancelled due to the CoronaVirus. Karan adds, “We had the US tour planned and we have dates in Europe in August, We are very sad we didn’t get to play for our American fans, and hope our August European festival dates don’t get cancelled. No matter what happens in 2020 we will be back in 2021”

The European Festival Dates:
07/08 @ Bloodstock Festival – Derby, UK
08/09 @ Alcatraz Festival (Swamp Stage) – Kortrijk, BE
08/14 @ Reload Festival – Sulingen, DE
08/15 @ Summer Breeze Open Air – Dinkelsbühl, DE

Bloodywood is a metal band from India known for pioneering a sound that seamlessly fuses Indian folk instruments with metal to devastating effect. Expect to hear the percussive power of the mighty Dhol, the melancholic flute, the single stringed Tumbi and several other uncommon, yet distinctly characteristic sounds from India. A combination of thunderous Hindi/Punjabi choruses and meaningful yet unforgiving rap verses along with the ethnic instrumentation makes Bloodywood a truly unique experience.

INDIAN: Chicago Blackened Doom Bringers Unleash Scathing New Video For “Rhetoric Of No”

Today Metal Injection, in cooperation with blackened doom bringers, INDIAN, premiere a brand new visual atrocity in the form of “Rhetoric Of No.”

The menacing six-plus-minute demonstration of deviance comes courtesy of INDIAN‘s newly-releasedFrom All Purity full-length. A corrosive audio collage where tar-black doom unites with expansive waves of noise to create a near smothering sensation of revulsion, suffering, and imminent degeneration, the six-track From All Purity, which debuted at #24 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, is the true sound of the earth dying.

Recorded at Electrical Audio and Soma Studios in Chicago with engineer/co-producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Yob, Samothrace), From All Purity has reaped the love of fans and media globally. In an 8.2/10 score, Pitchfork calls the record, “commanding and well-crafted,” adding that “this is the strongest they’ve ever sounded,” Hit The Floor names it, “the most vicious and scathing pieces of bleak recorded hatred you will hear all year,” Metal Insider points out that, “it’s almost as if INDIAN aren’t playing their instruments so much as abusing them and we are allowed to witness this display of musical debauchery like some sickening peep show,” while MetalSucks commends the record’s “gnarled brilliance” furthering that, “it’s just so fucking ugly and unpleasant that, unless you’re in the mood to go looking for diamonds in the vomit-encrusted rough, it can sound like an endless, sickly death march….INDIAN know that doom’s slowness can be used to stretch out one’s concept of time to submerge whoever’s listening into something truly vicious.” Lambgoat agrees, “With their fifth full-length, INDIANbuilds upon a key fact that should define their music: beauty through dissonance… It’s noisy, unpleasant, and vicious in its sludge/doom attack; all qualities that make From All Purity a strong release.” Adds Metal Injection, “Far from a mere Eyehategod or Neurosis clone, INDIAN are a well-rounded quintet capable of appealing to fans of groups as disparate as Batillus, Pelican or High On Fire.”

INDIAN: From All Purity Now Playing At Pitchfork; Kuma’s Corner To Unveil Band Burger This Sunday

In celebration of its impending release next Tuesday, today the gatekeepers at Pitchfork are streaming From All Purity, the forthcoming new full-length from Chicago blackened doom misanthropes, INDIAN, from beginning to bitter end.

Recorded at Electrical Audio and Soma Studios in Chicago with engineer/co-producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Nachtmystium, Yob, Samothrace), the six-track From All Purity is the sound of the earth dying; a corrosive audio collage where tar-black doom unites with sprawling waves of noise to create a near suffocating sensation of hate, suffering, and imminent decay. The true antithesis of easy listening, From All Purity‘s earnest severity has reaped critical hails from media both stateside and abroad. Hit The Floor crowns the offering, “the most vicious and scathing pieces of bleak recorded hatred you will hear all year,” while The Sleeping Shaman names it, “the most desolate records I’ve ever heard… I’m both fascinated and terrified to see where INDIAN can possibly descend to from here.” Elsewhere, MetalSucks commends the record’s “gnarled brilliance” furthering that, “it’s just so fucking ugly and unpleasant that, unless you’re in the mood to go looking for diamonds in the vomit-encrusted rough, it can sound like an endless, sickly death march…. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing: INDIAN know that doom’s slowness can be used to stretch out one’s concept of time to submerge whoever’s listening into something truly vicious. From All Purity does that masterfully.” While Metal Insider rationalizes, “It’s almost as if INDIAN aren’t playing their instruments so much as abusing them and we are allowed to witness this display of musical debauchery like some sickening peep show.”

INDIAN: New Track From Blackened Doom Day-Ruiners Now Playing At Invisible Oranges

Just in time to derail all your New Year’s resolutions, today, Invisible Oranges brings you “Directional” from Chicagoan blackened doom merchants, INDIAN. The tune comes courtesy of the unit’s forthcoming From All Purity long player scheduled for release later this month via Relapse Records.

Recorded at Electrical Audio and Soma Studios in Chicago with engineer/co-producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Nachtmystium, Yob, Samothrace), the six-track From All Purity is a taunting exercise in auditory hate and despair; a physically and psychologically jarring collision of tar-black doom, sprawling waves of noise and scathing outbursts of pain. Said Heavy Planet in an early review of the record, “This is a band wringing their dirty hands and tossing bricks, but they’re hardly aimless. These six tracks hit the spite-nail straight on the head, driven directly into your senses. I didn’t think anyone could improve upon [2011’s] Guiltless. Somehow, these dudes have even less remorse than they did years three years ago.” From All Purity is the true antithesis of easy listening.

Third hymn, “Directional,” is currently streaming at Invisible Oranges who fittingly crowns the tune, “a militaristic, doom-impending march,” furthering that “walls of thick noise-haze create a bleak, hopeless atmosphere overlaid with harsh distorted screams.”

Get miserable with “Directional” at THIS LOCATION. Happy 2014.

Additionally, you can still check out “Rhetoric Of No” HERE.

Forged in 2003, INDIAN‘s debut EP, God Slave, was a self-released mission statement, welcoming the band into the world like young, kicking, screaming giants. Their first three full-lengths – The Unquiet SkySlights And Abuse, and The Sycophant, respectively – were all issued through Portland, Oregon-based metal imprint Seventh Rule Recordings. Unapologetically harsh and chest-cavingly heavy, each of these releases found the band gaining momentum and attracting followers, as well as performing shows with scene heavyweights such as Wolves in the Throne Room, Locrian, and Agalloch. By 2010,INDIAN had joined the Relapse family and spawned Guiltless. Released in 2011 to outstanding reviews, the Chicagoist described the album as, “a musical journey into the mouth of teeth-rattling metal madness,” while Metal Hammer simply called it, “pretty much an essential album.” Fans were also impressed, gathering to soak up the band’s feverish rays of doom on tour across the country.INDIAN performed shows with High on Fire, Batillus, and Yob, translating their recorded sounds into a murky, devilish live spectacle.
