“If Queens of the Stone Age called themselves “robot rock,” then Vocoder-saturated bandroids Sun and Sail Club are rebooting the ’80s-era Transformers cartoon — bright, colorful, heavy as anything. More than meets the eye, this crew — former Kyuss/Obsessed bassist Scott Thomas Reeder and current Fu Manchu members Bob Balch and Scott Reeder — shoots the sludge-bubblegum stoner pop of contemporary bands into the center of Bambaataa’s Planet Rock.” – SPIN

RESOLUTION15 and GuitarWorld.com Unveil Exclusive 7-String Metal Violin Tutorial Video

Brooklyn, NY’s RESOLUTION15 and GuitarWorld.com have teamed up to reveal a brand new, exclusive tutorial video. However, this isn’t just your average, run-of-the-mill tutorial video. This time, RESOLUTION15 violinist Earl Maneein (who has performed with the likes of Jay-ZFlorence and the Machine and more) shows us how RESOLUTION15 performs their unique brand of metal on a 7-string electric violin. Fans who have witnessed the band live understand the disbelief one experiences whilst watching; how does that violin make that heavy guitar sound? Well, now you can find out first hand. View the tutorial for the track ‘Mr. Dark’ at this link now!

RESOLUTION15 is well known in the local scene for being a unique and welcomed twist on heavy metal– praise primarily based on their usage of violins in the place of guitars in their blistering thrash, punk and hardcore-influenced music. After a successful Kickstarter campaign designed to raise funds for its recording, the band released their new album Svaha on January 15, 2013. Recording took place at Spin Studios and Nova Studios with Ryan Kelly and Stacy O’Dell as producers.

In 2007, RESOLUTION15 released a self-titled debut and quickly became a fixture in the New York metal scene, performing at countless shows and drawing fans and local press in with their unique sound. The band’s last EP, Satyagraha, was released in April 2010 with Corey Unger (guitarist of the seminal New England metalcore band Blood Has Been Shed) as producer.
See what the press is saying about RESOLUTION15!

“…[the violins] bring a constant barrage of heavy riffs that would give most guitar-driven bands a run for their money in the brutal department, and when combined with a touch of technicality from the rest of the band, RESOLUTION15 bring something truly riveting to the table. They’re the kind of band that instantly turns the heads of the old, jaded metalheads hanging back at the bar… what… is…. this?… wow!” – MetalSucks.net

“…violins have been attached to folk metal and other oblong versions of what you might consider to be metal, but what was being belted out onstage was nowhere near folk, chamber music or anything along those lines. This [RESOLUTION15] is thrash. This is loud. This is a kick in the fucking face.” –  Metal Edge

“…there are very few bands that offer the musicality, the intensity, and the vibe that RESOLUTION 15 from New York City is offering currently.” – HornsUpRocks.com

“…a unique and equally dynamic band that is sure to raise your brow.” – MetalInjection.net

RESOLUTION15 consists of Earl Maneein on 7 string electric violin, Kenny Grohowski on drums, Mike Bendykowski on bass, and Nick Serr on vocals.

This is killer…you have to see Portnoy wailing on a classic VH tune.  PMM can’t wait to cover them when they come to Altar Bar Pittsburgh March 14…

ADRENALINE MOB guitarist Mike Orlando states, “Recording ‘Romeo Delight’ was an absolute blast for me. I grew up listening to EVH, and from the moment I heard ‘Eruption,’ I was hooked for life! Tracking the guitars was such a blast, as I plugged in my white-and-black Charvel, my trusty ol’ MXR Phase 90 and went right into my cranked-up Marshall JCM800, entering that EVH zone and giving my all to pay tribute to one of the greatest rock guitarists ever! We had a great time with Mike Portnoy’s idea to insert a medley of kick-ass VH parts in the mid-section while going into a great treat before we head back to the final chorus!”

Coverta is an eight-track EP featuring cover versions of some of the band’s favorite songs. Long-time fans of Mike Portnoy are aware of the multiple cover CDs he has released with Dream Theater and with Neal Morse. Coverta is the first CD of covers recorded by ADRENALINE MOB.

THERION New Album Les Fleus du Mal Streaming on GuitarWorld.com

THERION are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary and will release their new album Les Fleurs du Mal tomorrow in North America via End of the Light Records. Today GuitarWorld.com the online home of Guitar World Magazine is hosting an exclusive stream on Les Fleurs du Mal in its entirety HERE. The album can also be streamed courtesy of AOL Music HERE.

There are still many details that are unknown about this mystical art project, and so far only the album title Les Fleurs du Mal can be officially announced. The album title refers to Charles Baudelaire’s (French author and poet 1821 – 1867) famous poem collection “Flowers of Evil” (Les Fleurs du Mal in French) that caused such an upset of emotions in France that the author was brought to court and got fined for “insulting the public” with six of the poems, that remained forbidden in France until 1949 when the ban was finally lifted. The spirit of the project is a tribute to Baudelaire, and is imbued into both music and artwork. The album was recorded at Adulruna studio, located in a separate building next to Johnsson’s decadent “Villa Adulruna” where the band lived together while recording.

Les Fleurs du Mal is available to order on Amazon.

Green Day’s 2ND New Album Streaming on GuitarWorld.com

From Guitar World.com

Green Day have just premiered their second new album of 2012 online. Stream ¡Dos! in-full below.

¡Dos! is slated for a November 13 release, with its follow-up, ¡Tre! recently being moved up to a December 11 release following the band’s decision to postpone their upcoming tour dates through February.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” said drummer Tré Cool. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” added Mike Dirnt, referencing frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s ongoing stint in rehab following an onstage meltdown in September.

SUNFLOWER DEAD: Revolver Magazine Exclusively Unveils New Music Video for “Make Me Drown” Today

SUNFLOWER DEAD and Revolver Magazine are pleased to unveil the band’s brand new music video for the track ‘Make Me Drown’ today! The video is directed by Danny “Ham Cam” Hamilton. The track is cut from the band’s brand new self-titled album, which was named Revolver Magazine’s “Album of the Week” last week in a reader poll that pinned them against the likes of The Darkness, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more.

Additionally, GuitarWorld.com recently posted a one-on-one guitar solo tutorial for ‘Make Me Drown’ featuring SUNFLOWER DEAD guitarist Jaboo. Watch the full-length music video at the provided locations above and learn the solo.
The band’s debut album is out now on Bloody Bat Records and available via iTunes, Amazon and directly through the bands website. You can also follow the band on Facebook at this location for the latest news regarding the band’s upcoming music and touring plans.
SUNFLOWER DEAD released their new self-titled album last Tuesday, August 21st with Bloody Bat Records. The album was recorded at Temple Studios (owned by Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory and B Real of Cyrpress Hill) with Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory). Co-produced and mixed by Jeremy Blair (Guns N’ Roses, DevilDriver) at Temple and House of Blues Studios, and mastered by Robert Hadley (Korn) at The Mastering Lab, the album has a tight, punchy sound with crushing low end and ultra wide sonics.
