IAN ABEL BAND Releases Official Lyric Video for New Single, “Cerberus”!

Nashville, TN Based IAN ABEL BAND has released an official lyric video for their new single, “Cerberus.” Originally premiered on Blues Rock Review, “Cerberus” was filmed at the Troubadour by Mitch Parks.

“This song holds a special place in my heart,” says Ian. “While tracking guitars at Splendor 2 in Los Angeles, one of the legendary producers there lent us a vintage Gibson SG to use for the leads and rhythm. I could tell when I played it that there was magic in the feel of it and the sound it was producing.

Come to find out, that guitar was personally given to him by none other than Eric Clapton.

That took me back to when we tracked the drums at United Studio B (which has been home to juggernauts like Radiohead & Green Day). Before K-Swizzo one take’d Cerberus, we were drinking Bourbon on the square that Nancy Sinatra stood and sang ‘these boots were made for walking.’

This song is a haunting look at the darker side of a relationship’s end. The vibrations that once rattled that room and the ghosts of instruments past, I believe, can still be heard in this recording.” – IAN ABEL

Originally from Louisville Kentucky singer, songwriter, and lead guitar player Ian Abel connected with New York drummer Kenny Schwartz and high school friend Westray Tackett in Los Angeles in early 2017. Together ,with the help of their friend and master audio engineer, Jon Graber, they began tracking an 11 song album in 2018 at United Recording.

The first song released from that recording session, titled “Shoes”, was licensed in May of 2019 to All Elite Wresting for a promotional video for the historic fight between Cody and Dustin Rhodes at the company’s inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing.

Since then, Ian Abel Band added bassist Karthik Suresh, played the world famous Troubadour, relocated to Nashville, and worked again with Cody and AEW in November 2020 for Cody Rhodes vs Darby Allin at the pay-per-view, Full Gear.. Big guitars, big drums and even bigger hooks. That’s what the Ian Abel Band is all about.

January 30, 2017 — FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY have debuted a brand new music video for their newest track “Heads Will Hang” today exclusively via Alternative Press. Directed by Max Moore,(CODE ORANGE, OF MICE AND MEN) this is the first music video the band has released from their upcoming new release. Founding guitarist / producer Will Putney comments, “The concept behind the song/video was to set a scenario in America where a normal happy family was placed in a similar extreme situation, in the hope that it creates a certain feeling of empathy for what less fortunate nations are experiencing right now. And to shed some light on just how close we are to the same tragedies hitting our homes.”

“People in the United States always seems to form these really strong opinions about war, refugees, and other crisis situations in third world nations without really having the perspective of what’s actually happening there,” says Putney. “Everyone’s guilty of it to some extent; a lot of us live very privileged lives in comparison to other pockets of the world, where the basic comforts like clean water, power, shelter, and safety are not guaranteed.”

Fit For An Autopsy will release The Great Collapse on March 17, 2017 via Entertainment One (eOne) / Good Fight Music in North America and SPV overseas. Artist Adam Burke was tapped to create the visually stunning cover art seen below.

The Great Collapse will be the the band’s fourth full length record, continuing the momentum gained from a solid 200+ days of worldwide touring backing the buzz-worthy release of Absolute Hope Absolute Hell in late 2015, as well The Depression Sessions, a split release with The Acacia Strain and Thy Art Is Murder in 2016. Putney adds, “It’s going to be the strongest record in our catalog. The overall mood and atmosphere of this album feels fully realized and emotionally stirring.”

The crushing music of Fit For An Autopsy is for any fan of extreme metal, as it’s devoid of preachy politics or grandstanding soapboxing, but its sound and fury is absolutely unflinching in purpose. The band expertly blends excessive-force fueled death metal with atmospheric groove and impassioned personal diatribes, reflecting back the dark state of current events. Their fourth album, The Great Collapse, doesn’t waste time with fantasy bullshit or cliché gore horror. Fit For An Autopsy are metal guys, to be certain, but they grew up in the hardcore scene. They embrace the responsibility to put as much devoted purpose into their lyrics and message as they do into their dense, heady, songs, forging a magnificently powerful new post-deathcore.

“When I write a song, I’m trying to feel emotionally connected to it. I really don’t like saying things that don’t matter over music that I want to matter,” says Putney, guitarist, principal songwriter and cofounder. “We’ve always addressed serious topics going back to our first album. We aren’t a politically charged band up on a podium yelling at people – anybody can relate to the aggression, anger, frustration, and sadness often communicated in our music. But we absolutely raise important questions in the lyrics. Those themes are there to discover.”

Putney’s fellow guitarist/cofounder, Patrick Sheridan, strongly agrees. He emphasizes that while the music of Fit For An Autopsy may evolve it will always be aggressive and will always have purpose. “We think it’s important to carry that torch. Somebody’s got to say something about the shit that’s going on. If you’re not using your music, which is a great platform, for something meaningful that you care about on some level, then you’re kind of wasting it.”

The six-men of the New Jersey based group – which includes vocalist Joe Badolato, bassist Peter Spinazola, third guitarist Tim Howley, and drummer Josean Orta – put maximum intentionality into everything they do. They are constantly challenging themselves as musicians, adding to the band’s overall creative arsenal, connecting with audiences around the world, and supporting one another in the band as individual people.

Fit For An Autopsy is set to take part in the CARRY THE FLAME TOUR featuring AFTER THE BURIAL, EMMURE and FIT FOR A KING this spring.

Green Day is an American punk rock band composed of vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. Formed in 1986, Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The band’s early releases were with the independent record label Lookout! Records. In 1994, its major label debut Dookie (released through Reprise Records) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the United States. Green Day was widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States.  Green Day’s follow up albums Insomniac (1995) and Nimrod (1997) each sold over two million albums and were certified Double Platinum, and Warning (2000) was certified Platinum.  2004 brought the band’s rock opera American Idiot which reignited the band’s popularity with a younger generation and sold over six million copies in the United States.  Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. The group has won five Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the Year for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, Best Rock Album for the second time for 21st Century Breakdown and Best Musical Show Album for American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording. In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway.  On April 18, 2015, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the 2015 class in what was their first year of eligibility for induction. On October 16, 2015, Green Day released the documentary Heart Like A Hand Grenade, an unprecedented behind the scenes look at the writing and recording of their legendary album American Idiot.

Easter Day is GREEN DAY in Pittsburgh: A Letter to Billie Joe (The PMM review)

A letter to Billie Joe:

Maybe it was the sight of a drunken, dirty Easter bunny throwing candy to the capacity crowd at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Easter Sunday night.  Maybe it was the super soaker hoses, and the toilet paper rollers, and the t-shirt launchers.  Or maybe it was the jaded cynical critic within me that had seen it all too many times.  Don’t get me wrong, I like Green Day.  I like you Billie Joe and am very sorry that you have gone through the trials and tribulations you have.  But the dichotomy and downright hypocrisy of a “drunken” Easter bunny with empty bottles in an Easter basket is not the message that a guy straight from rehab needs to promote.  I could care less about most bands and what they comment upon, be it sex, drugs, politics, whatever.  What I’m saying is, “Armstrong we’ve got a problem”.  It’s a mixed message.  You’ve become a damn cliché.   And I freakin’ hate that for you.

Your band and yourself were tight.  I enjoyed some great songs like, “Oh Love”, “Holiday”, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” (all in a row by the way- nice work!), “Christie Road”…well you know what you played.  The “Disappearing Boy” with the quick flashes of covers from The Beatles, Ozzy, and Skynrd that bled into the sing-a-long of Guns n’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine” into AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” that turned into your old hit “Brain Stew” was brilliance.  But you’ve been at this for a long time and I expect nothing less.  It’s not my first time at The Green Day Rodeo.  Something is missing Billie Joe and I hope that it is not something within yourself.

I really liked when you brought up your fan for the second song, “Know Your Enemy” after your opener “99 Revolutions”.  He was awesome and the on the lips kiss and how you rolled with it was great.   I loved when you did the same thing here in Pittsburgh during the American Idiot tour with a guitar player and gave him the guitar afterward.   It’s part of why I can’t help but like you.  I, like many in the audience, hitting the middle age skids, discovered you guys sometime around ‘Dookie’ or just before.  We’ve been with you ever since.  Even when you were thinking that you were going to be destined to doing greatest hits tours to the summer sheds.  That is until ‘American Idiot’.  The game changer.  You have been on a roller coaster ride ever since.  I am happy for you and sad for you all at once.  For as you know there is a price to that success that you have achieved and as the leader of the pack, you pay the dearest.  Your battles with the bottle are quite understandable.

So, that’s why I have to ask you to go back to taking a break.  Yes, there were moments of the old Green Day last night.  And there were glimpses of you having fun.  But, there was a lot more “phoning it in” moments witnessed, rock god clichés, gimmicks, worn out tricks, and the lack of the old punk ethics.  You’re not a hypocrite bro.  I know you’re not; or maybe I just hope you are not.  Let Green Day get off this media rocket ship ride and quit listening to the managers and record company execs who will bleed you until you are dust.  Play some clubs.  Do some festivals.  Do less.  Less can be more (hard to tell someone who just put out three records, huh?).  No offense, but I hope I don’t see you for some time.  And when and if I do, I hope that you have dropped the act and gone back to what Green Day did best at one time.  That was to be true to themselves.

THE RELAPSE SYMPHONY may have originated from Washington DC but their style, image, sound and attitude are straight from the Sunset Strip in its debaucherousfilled heyday. THE RELAPSE SYMPHONY combine the bombastic, emotive theatrics of My Chemical Romance, the unstoppably melodic but jagged punk hooks of Green Day and the forceful, confident and party-going atmosphere of Skid Row in a way that’s fresh and original. They’ve taken these components and structured a sound that sounds as vital today as “Youth Gone Wild” back in the day. It’s the sound of the greatest bands of yesterday colliding with the anxiousness of today. THE RELAPSE SYMPHONY is combustible and ready to ignite across the globe.

Green Day’s 2ND New Album Streaming on GuitarWorld.com

From Guitar World.com

Green Day have just premiered their second new album of 2012 online. Stream ¡Dos! in-full below.

¡Dos! is slated for a November 13 release, with its follow-up, ¡Tre! recently being moved up to a December 11 release following the band’s decision to postpone their upcoming tour dates through February.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” said drummer Tré Cool. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

“Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” added Mike Dirnt, referencing frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s ongoing stint in rehab following an onstage meltdown in September.

Is Billy Joe’s Rehab Real? Green Day Cancel and Postpone Dates

In the wake of Billie Joe’s send off to rehab (for substance abuse or commercial rock abuse?) it looks like all 2012 dates are off and 2013 are postponed. Green Day appears to have woken up in a media nightmare and they can’t wake up. One must ask if Billy Joe is really having that big of a substance abuse problem or this is a spin in order to placate the corporate rock gods who control Green Day’s livelihood? Far be it from this writer to second guess anyone’s abuse problems or make them seem trivial…that is not my intention. The big elephant in the room that no one seems to be discussing is how all this went down when Billy Joe did the most true punk thing he has ever done, which is tell off I Heart Radio. Is this how GD gets back in with the bigs by sucking up and spinning a tale around Billie’s rant as though it were ‘the drugs’ talking and not all the corporate bullshit that bands at that level have to put up with to stay at that level? I won’t scream sell out because Green Day did that eons ago, and who can blame them really. Most of us would give anything to be in a successful rock band, and faced with famine or famous, just be honest with yourself. I wish the best for Billie Joe and Green Day including a speedy recovery if it is actually true. But if it is not, in the long run, as usual, it’s the fans who are getting screwed. Just think about it…

Pittsburgh Punks August Ruins Make ‘Headlines’

August Ruins was forged right in PMM’s hometown of Pittsburgh coming up from the “underground armed with motivation, a message, and a melody”. AR was founded in May of 2009 forming randomly through craigslist ads, and ever since has found success with an explosive sound, combining the speed and melody of California punk with the technicality of modern metal. (On first listen one of our reviewers, Melisa, said they sound like Green Day meets A Day to Remember). August Ruins has been described as fist in the air punk rock, with blistering guitar solos and pounding double bass, combined with catchy choruses, melodic back up vocals, and “an all around passion that illuminates from each member of the band”. With elements of hardcore, metal, and melodic punk music August Ruins is sure to find many fans.

Their latest EP “Headlines” includes some crusty gems like “You Decide” and “Gone Forgotten” with posh punk melodies reminiscent of NOFX, Anti-Flag, New Found Glory and a hint of old-old My Chemical Romance. As August Ruins builds their reputation locally and nationally they will certainly gain an audience among old school and new school punks. But, they certainly have enough elements of hardcore and metalcore to also win those prone to that genre(s) as well. This is an exciting up and coming band that has a ton of potential to break out of Steel Town and hit everytown. Keep them on your radar to make more headlines very soon.

Santa Cruz punk rockers Stellar Corpses are premiering an all-new Halloween edition video for their debut single “Vampire Kiss,” today at AOL’s Noisecreep! Recently filmed in Hollywood at a raucous house party, by director Jared Sagal (Rockerrazzi Films), check out the band performing the track singer Dusty Sheehan tells Noisecreep “is a tribute to the greatest vampire movie of all time, The Lost Boys, filmed in our hometown of Santa Cruz.” The band also recorded two webisodes full of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews to accompany the video.

Stellar Corpses’ new studio album Dead Stars Drive-In was produced by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Joe McGrath (AFI, Morrissey, Green Day, Blink-182, Alkaline Trio). Blending a musical amalgamation of punk, rockabilly, hard rock and melodic rock, thrown in for good measure, Dead Stars Drive-In defies musical expectations. In support of the release, Stellar Corpses have recently been on tour supporting Tiger Army, punk rock legends TSOL, Nekromantix, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and classic horror punk rockers The Misfits. The band recently added a new slate of Southern California live shows, with additional tour dates to be announced.

With musical influences ranging from Elvis, Black Flag, Social Distortion, Stray Cats, and Bad Religion, to Black Sabbath, The Misfits, Danzig, Rancid, Sepultura and Megadeth, it’s no wonder Stellar Corpses chose to work with producer McGrath pouring everything they had into a stellar first album. Dead Stars Drive-In features special guest turns from Hunter Burgan and Jade Puget from the revolutionary goth punk band AFI, and Michale Graves of The Misfits.
Dead Stars Drive-In covers all sorts of subjects beginning with the title track, an ode to the dark side of Hollywood and how some of its brightest stars eventually burned out. “But to this day, their lights shine as bright as ever, and we will go on loving them always,” Sheehan explains.

Stellar Corpses, which literally means “dead stars” in astronomy (Grave’s idea from studying astronomy in college), have become a fixture in the Santa Cruz hard rock music scene over the years. They are by no means an overnight success story. The band met in high school and have been around, playing clubs, building their fan base one-by-one with their dynamic and interactive live shows.

Stellar Corpses is Dusty Sheehan on vocals and lead guitar, Dan Lamothe on upright bass and backing vocals, Emilio Menze on guitar and backing vocals, with Kyle Moore on drums.
