CHRIS CORNELL RELEASES NEW SONG ‘THE PROMISE’ TODAY

CHRIS CORNELL RELEASES NEW SONG ‘THE PROMISE’ TODAY!

FEATURED IN FORTHCOMING FILM THE PROMISE STARRING CHRISTIAN BALE AND OSCAR ISAAC

PROCEEDS TO INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE

Chris Cornell releases a new original song entitled “The Promise” today. Chris wrote the song for the forthcoming feature film The Promise, starring Academy Award winning actor Christian Bale and Golden Globe winning actor Oscar Isaac. The Promise is directed by Terry George and will be released in theatres on April 21, 2017 by Open Road Films.

Chris has unveiled a lyric video for the song today which can be seen HERE and the song is now available at all streaming services and digital retailers:

iTuneshttp://smarturl.it/iTunesThePromise

Apple Music: http://smarturl.it/ThePromiseApple

Spotify: http://smarturl.it/ThePromiseSpotify

Chris will donate his proceeds from the song to the International Rescue Committee. The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster.

Chris’s involvement in The Promise stemmed from his close friendship with the film’s producer, Eric Esrailian. Having married into a Greek family, Chris had been exposed for years to stories about similar treatment suffered by the Greeks at the hands of the Turkish-ruled Ottoman Empire. “If it’s something you or your family members went through, it’s something you’re faced with confronting on a daily basis,” he said.

Immersed in these stories and after further research, he was inspired by the strength and perseverance of those who were affected by these tragic events. Chris aimed to help tell the story of the film, but also to connect it to the kind of brutality we still face today.

“The film and plot are your band mates and the song has to be true to the story and the characters in it,” he added. “’The Promise’ to me is mainly about paying homage to those we lost in the Armenian Genocide, but it’s also about shining a light on more recent atrocities. The same methods used in the Armenian genocide were used to carry out crimes against humanity in Bosnia, Darfur, Rwanda and right now in Syria on multiple fronts, contributing to a massive global refugee crisis. Unfortunately, the words ‘never again’ seem like just words when we recall these mass executions of the twentieth century, as well as renewed racism and prejudice around the world. Even in the US, the warning signs – isolating groups based on race and religion – are evident. We really need to tell these stories and keep telling them in as many different ways as we can. As humans, we have a tremendous capacity to trudge ahead in our lives and not look at the difficult and challenging moments… but I think it’s important. Educating ourselves on the past is the best way to understand the present and avoid future atrocities by understanding and intervening. We must educate and stand as one to combat this fear and violence, and as citizens of the world, work to protect each other’s human rights.”

Directed by Academy Award winning filmmaker Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, Reservation Road, The Shore), The Promise takes place in 1914. As the Great War looms, the mighty Ottoman Empire is crumbling. Constantinople, the once vibrant, multicultural capital on the shores of the Bosporus, is about to be consumed by chaos. Michael Boghosian (Oscar Isaac), arrives in the cosmopolitan hub as a medial student determined to bring modern medicine back to Siroun, his ancestral village in Southern Turkey where Turkish Muslims and Armenian Christians have lived side by side for centuries. Photojournalist Chris Myers (Christian Bale) has come here only partly to cover geo-politics. He is mesmerized by his love for Ana (Charlotte le Bon), an Armenian artist he has accompanied from Paris after the sudden death of her father. When Michael meets Ana, their shared Armenian heritage sparks an attraction that explodes into a romantic rivalry between the two men. As the Turks form an alliance with Germany and the Empire turns violently against its own ethnic minorities, their conflicting passions must be deferred while they join forces to survive even as events threaten to overwhelm them.

SUPERJOINT Premieres New Track At Revolver Magazine

unnamed-5SUPERJOINT was resurrected in 2015 after the original band broke up a decade earlier. At the behest of the late Corey Mitchell, co-founder of The Housecore Horror Film Festival, SUPERJOINT founders Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Pantera, Scour, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Arson Anthem et al), Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod), and Kevin Bond (Christ Inversion, Artimus Pyledriver et al) joined forces with longtime comrades, drummer José “Blue” Gonzalez (Warbeast, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals) and bassist Stephen Taylor (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Woven Hand, 16 Horse Power). A new era of the band was born.
Mitchell’s idea worked brilliantly, as the band members found true joy in playing together again. After just two tours, new material followed culminating in the scathing sounds of Caught Up In The Gears Of Application. Set for release on November 11th, 2016 via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records,Caught Up In The Gears Of Application was captured at Nodferatu’s Lair and marks the band’s first new output since 2003’s critically-lauded Lethal Dose Of American Hatred. Produced by Anselmo and Stephen Berrigan (Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Eyehategod, Haarp, Classhole etc.) and mastered by Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Pig Destroyer) at Visceral Sounds, Caught Up In The Gears Of Application remains true to SUPERJOINT‘s original strategy: to spew forth an acrimonious crossover of hardcore punk, metal, and unrelenting, hostile, New Orleans-style angst.
“The minute we started writing, I knew this record would be brutal,” reflects Bower, “Sticking to our true hardcore roots and signature SUPERJOINT sound, we accomplished a record that needed to happen in today’s underground. It’s pissed off! After being on hiatus for eleven-plus years, the chance at a new SUPERJOINT record wasn’t something we took lightly. With newcomers Steven and Joey, we were psyched and eager to get in the Lair and start writing and after two tours with the new lineup, we were able to hit the writing hard! Didn’t take long to accomplish, and we stood and smirked at the playback of what would be the new SUPERJOINT record. With songs like ‘Receiving No Answer To The Knock’ and ‘Sociopathic Herd Delusion’ we had everything to smirk about! This record brings our viscous style of hardcore back to life. Pissed off with everything to prove, SUPERJOINT is back!”
Adds Anselmo of the offering, “The overall theme means many things, or no things, but there is an underlying message regardless, about how modern technology — computers and all that comes with them, mainly — has affected our lives. As a musician, it has affected my life both negatively (music being stolen) and positively (being in touch with fellow musicians around the world and staying visible). But when looking at the broader spectrum, computer-land has given everyday people a platform in which to bellow like carnival barkers about anything and everything, humdrum or political, whether qualified or not, some with good intentions, some with disingenuous intentions, and some with ideas that lay somewhere in the middle, creating a mishmash of results.”
As a precursor to the release of Caught Up In The Gears Of Application, today Revolver Magazine offers up the confrontational “Sociopathic Herd Delusion,” for communal ingestion. Issues Anselmo simply, “‘Sociopathic Herd Delusion’ is an absolute SUPERJOINT hook-a-rama done in one-thousand-percent SUPERJOINT form! It’s a state of cerebral address, and thicker than a hundred-year-old deck of collectable boxing cards.”

Why?, produced by Nashville-based David Spencer, showcases the soulful singing and songwriting of an 18-year old whose independent approach has captured the attention of critics and industry tastemakers as well as connecting with millions of fans around the world.
The album is a powerful thirteen-track collection of songs, brimming with standouts like the finger-clicked soul-pop of “Lovesick” (“A fun song about getting in trouble with your girl”) and “Focus,” which reflects on the stress of a love in our current culture of distraction. Whitesides’ songs are, by and large, heartfelt and relatable. Sometimes they’re lighthearted, but even when they’re upbeat, there’s often another level to the lyrics as the listener dives deeper into the music.  “Love Slow” was inspired by the struggle of being 18 and in a relationship, and on “Bury Our Love” when he sings, “I was old before I was young” the line rings particularly true, echoing his musical talents and accomplishments.
Why? is the follow-up to Whitesides two chart-topping EPs A Piece of Me and Faces On Film (both which stood for days at #1 on iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart in 2015). A Piece of Me produced the unintentional hit “Not My Type At All.” The track became the No. 1 most requested on Radio Disney and received heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s “Coffee House” alongside such heavyweights as Coldplay, Paul Simon, and Ray LaMontagne. Additionally, Jacob enters his debut album campaign as the only artist to be chosen as MTV’s “Artist to Watch,” Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing,” Pandora’s “Artist to Watch,” and Spotify’s “Artist to Watch” for 2016, all concurrently.
Later this month, Jacob will embark on a fall tour supporting Ben Rector. A list of dates can be found below. Tickets and on-sale information can be found at www.jacobwhitesides.com.
