54c03e4be8db7a4942872697_original-1making whimsical surf-pop may seem like a daunting task when you live states away from the nearest beach, but guitarist and vocalist jared corder was determined to make the music reminiscent of his california birthplace. the band was always intended to be a 3-piece: jared on guitar and vocals, andy herrin on drums, with female harmony vocals reminiscent of 1960s west coast beach pop.

while working on new sounds, it was suggested by producer, gregory lattimer [albert hammond jr, kink ador, the gills, the grayces] that corder’s wife, kristyn, sing in the band.

the trio once described by the nashville scene as (“dick dale’s snot-nosed grandkids”) tracked a single and two additional tracks with lattimer in a basement of their hometown of east nashville in late 2012. the band’s first single “12345678” was released in march 2013.

“history”, was released in september 2013, and “chemical reaction” was released feb 1, 2014, and preceded the band’s first full-length album, “bad latitude”, released in march 2014. another song from the album, “not the one” went into heavy rotation on nashville’s beloved lightning 100 (100.1FM).

*repeat repeat’s debut album “bad latitude” is available on on all major digital retailers (itunes, bandcamp, and repeatx2.storenvy.com/

“…far and away one of the finest pop and rock bands currently in nashville. so many bands think that they must be either cool or fun, and never the two shall meet… *repeat repeat says fuck that, mashes them together, and throws 60’s tie-die vibes all over it. and glitter. to paraphrase jason lee’s character in the eternally great movie almost famous, if you’re not getting off, *repeat repeat will find you and get you off!…” – shop sessions @ dcxv industries

Finland’s ENSIFERUM have spent the past 18 years honing the steel of their folk-infused battle metal auditory attack. Their albums are further bolstered by a live show that has become one of the most entertaining in all of metal. Bassist/backing vocalist Sami Hinkka comments: “We are really looking forward to our co-operation with such a great and legendary label as Metal Blade. The next full length album should be out in early 2015. We have already started working with the new songs and it’s obvious that the next album will be another step ahead for Ensiferum. And now that we have united forces with mighty Metal Blade nothing can stop us! The next album is going to be something that will rock the very foundations of folk metal genre.

We also would like to thank Spinefarm Records for all these 13 years, it’s been as blast but now it is time for us to move on and head bravely towards new challenges.

The future looks bright for Sword Bearers!”

ODDLAND releases guitar play-through video for “Lines Of Silver Blood”

334

Finland’s ODDLAND has just launched a guitar play-through for the track “Lines Of Silver Blood”. The band comments: “We decided to do the guitar play-through on this song because it probably has some of the most technical guitar parts of the album. We figured people might be interested to see how they´re played. The live guitar tracks were recorded on top of the album version, and Ville (our drummer) was in charge of shooting and editing the whole thing. Have a look, won’t you!”

This is the first play-through that the band has launched for their current albumTreachery Of Senses. The video of guitarists Sakari Ojanen & Jussi Poikonen playing along with “Lines Of Silver Blood” can be seen here:

NIHILISTINEN BARBAARISUUS sign to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions has signed Finnish/Philadelphia Black Metal trio Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus and will release their debut album on February 19th 2013. Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus have released a two song promo to introduce people to the band, below is a description:

Forged out of the icy wilderness of the north, this Philadelphia trio composes several tracks of cold subsonics and frigid atmospheres. Inspired by Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus’s founder Mika Mages Finnish heritage, the two tracks presented here showcase the bands ambient black metal techniques with the track Ylitten Jtyneen Pohjoisen (I) and a more delicate side with the track Ketamiini. Cold, grim and strangely uplifting a must have for fans of Gris, Paysage DHiver, Burzum, Velvet Cacoon, Trist, and Neige Et Noirceur. A frozen, ambient masterpiece…

Megadeth and Zombie Will Continue Co-Headlining Tour

Megadeth and Rob Zombie rocked Stage AE in Pittsburgh last week and will continue to do so throughout the U.S. and Europe. MPAPPHOTO was there to capture the pure energy of the show and has joined Pittsburgh Music Magazine as a collaborator.

Metal icons MEGADETH are delivering volcanic performances and earning rave reviews on their co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie, which marks the first time the two bands have toured together. The trek kicked off Friday, May 11 in Holmdel, NJ and will include two high-profile rock festival appearances including Rock On The Range and Rocklahoma, where the tour wraps on Saturday, May 26. A list of confirmed dates is below. For additional information on purchasing tickets, visit www.megadeth.com.

Prior to the show, the New York Times proclaimed that “the speed pioneers Megadeth have the decibels to fill the grandiose PNC” and the New York Daily News said, “At last year’s faceoff with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, the band led by Dave Mustaine offered a set that did both their sub-genre and legacy proud (5/10/12).”

In a review of the first show, Tris McCall of the Newark, NJ Star-Ledger said, “While most of the band’s peers have either slowed down, broken up or switched to a more profitable style, Megadeth presses on, hard and fast as ever. Mustaine is a study in perseverance–and professionalism, too: He recently had to re-learn how to play guitar after suffering nerve damage in his arm. That trauma has left no mark on him–his solos, sometimes taken in harmony with sideman Chris Broderick, are as dextrous, and rapid-fire, as ever (5/13/12).” Theexaminer.com added, “The musicians ripped and shredded their way through riffs and solos with machine-like precision, yet somehow projecting an earnest passion through the notes that speaks to the raw emotion of Mustaine’s songwriting (5/13/12).”

After their tour with ROB ZOMBIE wraps at Rocklahoma, MEGADETH–singer/guitarist DAVE MUSTAINE, bassist DAVID ELLEFSON, drummer SHAWN DROVER and guitarist CHRIS BRODERICK–will head to Europe for shows in Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Czech Republic, England, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France, Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, then in September will head to South America for concerts in Chile, Argentina and Mexico.

A newly released video for the group’s next single “Whose Life (Is It Anyway?)” can be seen now.. The video is a heavy metal tour de force, depicting youth angst turned violent, resulting in an apocalyptic finale.

The current tour comes on the heels of MEGADETH’s critically acclaimed return of the traveling festival GIGANTOUR, created and curated by frontman DAVE MUSTAINE. Rave reviews poured in for the festival, which also featured MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and LACUNA COIL. “The return of Gigantour, a nicely curated package tour of heavy metal bands, is just one more step in a great run underway by Megadeth,” wrote the Boston Globe. “It was a smart and well-paced show, one that illuminated metal’s various angles (1/31/12).”

2011 marked the release of MEGADETH’s 13th album, the appropriately titled Th1rt3en. Released November 1 on Roadrunner Records, the album debuted at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #1 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart. The album also landed on international charts including Top 10 placements in Argentina, Finland, Korea and Japan. MEGADETH also received their tenth Grammy nomination for this project, earning a “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” nomination for their single “Public Enemy #1.” The “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance” category was, eerily, category #13.
