IAN ABEL BAND Releases Official Lyric Video for New Single, “Cerberus”!

Nashville, TN Based IAN ABEL BAND has released an official lyric video for their new single, “Cerberus.” Originally premiered on Blues Rock Review, “Cerberus” was filmed at the Troubadour by Mitch Parks.

“This song holds a special place in my heart,” says Ian. “While tracking guitars at Splendor 2 in Los Angeles, one of the legendary producers there lent us a vintage Gibson SG to use for the leads and rhythm. I could tell when I played it that there was magic in the feel of it and the sound it was producing.

Come to find out, that guitar was personally given to him by none other than Eric Clapton.

That took me back to when we tracked the drums at United Studio B (which has been home to juggernauts like Radiohead & Green Day). Before K-Swizzo one take’d Cerberus, we were drinking Bourbon on the square that Nancy Sinatra stood and sang ‘these boots were made for walking.’

This song is a haunting look at the darker side of a relationship’s end. The vibrations that once rattled that room and the ghosts of instruments past, I believe, can still be heard in this recording.” – IAN ABEL

Originally from Louisville Kentucky singer, songwriter, and lead guitar player Ian Abel connected with New York drummer Kenny Schwartz and high school friend Westray Tackett in Los Angeles in early 2017. Together ,with the help of their friend and master audio engineer, Jon Graber, they began tracking an 11 song album in 2018 at United Recording.

The first song released from that recording session, titled “Shoes”, was licensed in May of 2019 to All Elite Wresting for a promotional video for the historic fight between Cody and Dustin Rhodes at the company’s inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing.

Since then, Ian Abel Band added bassist Karthik Suresh, played the world famous Troubadour, relocated to Nashville, and worked again with Cody and AEW in November 2020 for Cody Rhodes vs Darby Allin at the pay-per-view, Full Gear.. Big guitars, big drums and even bigger hooks. That’s what the Ian Abel Band is all about.

JOURNEY Founder NEAL SCHON Launches New Augmented Reality App, “StraxAR™”

07 16 17 SCHON JOURNEY KABIK-128

Neal Schon, Founder and legendary lead guitarist for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band JOURNEY, has announced, with Strax Technologies Inc., the launch of a new augmented reality application, “StraxAR™”, that will combine entertainment, exclusive “sneak peek” distribution of new music and events, and present rewarding retail opportunities. Augmented Reality brings the digital world together with the physical world by “augmenting” digital content or a digital experience onto a physical object or image. In the case of “StraxAR™”, millions of Schon’s album covers, posters, and other imagery are being combined to form a network that will be able to showcase his legendary music, performances, and new material for fans around the world. “StraxAR™” also will enable Schon to change content at will, effectively “broadcasting” it across millions of target images continuously. For launch, Schon will be adding to the image library every “STOP” sign in America – the signs being one of the image targets.

“Last week we launched our commerce site, NealSchonMusic.com, and promised more to come – today we are fulfilling our promise by delivering an exciting app that gives the fans a whole new way to get closer to what we are doing,” said Schon, “the platform will allow us to very quickly release material worldwide and share it in this unique way, combining it with all kinds of rewarding experiences for our fans.”

“Neal has incredible insight into how people think and feel and a creative mind that never stops” said Eric Singleton, CTO of Strax Technologies, “during the development process it was invaluable to have his feedback as we brought the whole concept together to deliver an experience fans will want to have again and again.”

“The opportunity to film Neal Schon and Journey Through Time in the studio has been incredible, requiring a new production approach for AR, capturing the authenticity of the moment”, said Lee West, creative officer for Strax.

To use the application, one simply launches it on their device (iPhone or Android) and points it at the “target” image. In seconds the experience begins. There is an “Image Targets” button in the app that references which images are active (at the moment every major album cover that Neal Schon has played on, and any STOP sign in the country too).

“This approach to augmented reality delivers a powerful expression of music and entertainment in the real world the user is immersed in,” said Alan Mariotti, technologist and cybersecurity advisor for Strax Technologies, “its simplicity and ability to deliver multiple experiences quickly jumps over earlier boundaries.”

GARY CLARK JR. TO RELEASE LIVE NORTH AMERICA 2016 ON MARCH 17TH

Gary Clark Jr. will release a new live album on March 17th via Warner Bros. Records. Live North America 2016, his second live album, is available for pre-order beginning today via all digital retail stores. All pre-orders will include an instant download of a stunning live version of “The Healing.” Live North America 2016 will be available on CD, vinyl, and digitally.

photo-credit-joey-martinez-extralarge_1486147271605The album includes all new and unreleased live recordings from Gary Clark Jr’s 2016 tour in support of his internationally acclaimed 2015 album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.  It features several songs from that album, including “The Healing,” “Grinder,” “Our Love,” “Cold-Blooded,” and “Shake,” featuring Leon Bridges and his saxophonist Jeff Dazey. The set is characterized by raw soul and funk, classic solo and blues performances, and several lengthy, tour de force guitar jams. It includes two previously unreleased covers, Jimmy Reed’s“Honest I Do” and Elmore James“My Baby’s Gone” as well as “You Saved Me” and “When My Train Pulls In” — fan favorites from Clark’s Warner Bros. Records critically praised debut Blak and Blu.

Back when music was only available on a vinyl album, the pure excitement captured on a live album was considered the ultimate document coveted by hardcore music fans. Clark continues this tradition by bringing the live album to a younger generation of music fans. Live North America 2016 was recorded absolutely live, with no overdubs. What you hear is how it went down.

Clark’s incendiary performances were also beautifully captured on Gary Clark Jr. Live, which was released in September 2014 and met with tremendous critical and commercial acclaim. Both live albums chronicle Clark’s evolution on stage as his songs expand and find new life beyond the studio recordings. Much like the great blues, jazz, and soul legends of past, these recordings are lightening in a bottle — historical moments in time for an artist who is ever-morphing and one of the truly great improvisers of his generation and our time.

The release of Live North America 2016 coincides with Clark’s appearances as a special guest at Eric Clapton’s upcoming 50th anniversary shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 19th and 20th and at The Forum in Los Angeles on March 25th.

A Legend is Reborn: D’ANGELICO GUITARS to Launch ‘Reborn’ Campaign

New 2013 Line Preserves John D’Angelico’s Legacy While Exploring New Horizons

Named #1 Product of NAMM 2013 in Guitar World Magazine

dangelico

D’Angelico, one of the most highly respected names in guitars, has kicked off a major development regarding its top-selling line. Earlier this year, D’Angelico reissued a collection of entrancing, iconic, and classic guitar models that preserves John D’Angelico’s legacy. However, the line also explores new horizons such as basses, pedals (by Pigtronix), and soon, amps. The reissue campaign, suitably christened “Reborn”, is being heralded as one of the biggest line launches amongst the major guitar industry.

“We’ve spent the last year working tirelessly to bring these classic guitars back to life, while improving and expanding are product line to include more styles of guitars and basses. D’Angelico is a legacy of excellence and that reflects in every model and product we offer” says Brenden Cohen, CEO of D’Angelico Guitars. “Now music lovers, guitar players and guitar collectors everywhere have the chance to experience owning a product held to the D’Angelico standard of excellence for a surprisingly accessible price.”

The line includes a full range of handcrafted reissues of D’Angelico archtops, semi-hollows and solid bodies. All feature the spruce top, maple back, and stair-step pickguard and tailpiece that are quintessential D’Angelico design.

The “Reborn” line made their exciting debut at the industry-leading NAMM Show (Jan. 24 – Jan. 27, 2013), unveiling three new D’Angelico Standard Excel model reissues, including two single-cut guitars in Natural and Sunburst and a double-cut guitar in Cherry, White, Natural and Sunburst. Retail prices range from $1149 to $1419. A USA Masterbuilt 1942 Excel Reissue, the first in a series of limited edition USA Masterbuilt reissues being built for D’Angelico by acclaimed boutique luthier Gene Baker of Premier Builders Guild (PBG) in Arroyo Grande, California, was also introduced at this year’s NAMM convention. Baker’s reissues are based on extensive research that began with actual MRIs of the original 1942 Excel. The retail price has not yet been set. The result of this unveiling: the title of “#1 Product of NAMM 2013” in Guitar World magazine.

Current artists that have been seen with a D’Angelico guitar in-hand include Bernie Williams, Joe Perry, Eric Clapton, Gary Clark Jr., Rick Nielsen, Hanan Rubinstein,(Alicia Keys’ guitarist), and many more.

Concurrent with renewed artist interest in classic archtop guitars, John D’Angelico and D’Angelico Guitars were featured in Guitar Heroes: Legendary Craftsmen from Italy to New York, a major 2011 exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

About D’Angelico Guitars:

D’Angelico was founded in 1932 by archtop luthier John D’Angelico, the spiritual descendent of a line of legendary Italian stringed instrument master builders that dates all the way back to Antonio Stradivari. From his workshop on New York’s Lower East Side, D’Angelico painstakingly created exquisite guitars that were embraced by leading artists (Chet Atkins, Johnny Mercer, many more). They are considered among the finest guitars ever made by human hands – the stringed equivalents of limited edition Ferrari automobiles.

The D’Angelico story is one of the more inspiring in lutherie: With John D’Angelico’s death in 1964 the D’Angelico brand faded from view. Through the following decades the brand had various owners, some with great intentions but none with the necessary financial resources and business acumen to put in place the management, manufacturing, sales, distribution and marketing infrastructure required to successfully relaunch a major guitar brand.

Enter John Ferolito, Sr., a highly successful entrepreneur (co-founder of the multi-billion dollar Arizona Iced Tea Company and additional successful businesses). An avid guitar collector, Ferolito purchased the D’Angelico brand and recruited an expert management team led by CEO Cohen, President of Sales Steve Pisani and Chairman John Ferolito, Jr. He supported the effort with a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing, warehousing and distribution infrastructure.

During the initial months of operation, the D’Angelico team worked under the radar, perfecting a line of authentic reissues that delivers D’Angelico quality and tone for an accessible price. The new models were enthusiastically received, and through 2012 D’Angelico has re-emerged as one of the fastest-growing brands in the category.
