New York based Metapop band kurt.riley+praxis has released the official music video for their darkly synth pop infused new single, “Free.” The fourth track from their upcoming, science fiction themed opus, Chrome Empire, “Free” was preceded by the releases “FTR SHK,” “Say You Love Me,” and “Evergreen.” Using the story of an android that has gained self-awareness, the Chrome Empire album addresses topics such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality by way of a sci-fi narrative and hook-laden songwriting.

Player

“’Free’ is my attempt to encapsulate what it feels like to be born on the morning after Fukuyama’s ‘end of history’ – in the afterglow of the Cold War, born during the consumerist apex of the Nineties in the West…watching the towers fall on television…receiving a bleak inheritance of climate change, irrevocable student loan debt, social inequality, and increasing totalitarianism. Feeling trapped amidst the end of empire, within circumstances one feels helpless to control or improve. Even that last inch – the toaster, TV, and steel-belted radials of Howard Beale’s – even that isn’t left to us, as a mid-century, middle-class existence simply becomes too expensive for all but the upper echelons of society. And so many of us are too exhausted to be mad as hell anymore. We’re just heartbroken.” – kurt.riley+praxis

Which YES is the real YES?

The manager, Brian Lane, of YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman would like to issue the following statement:

“It would help prevent confusion among the fan base if the other YES band would identify their key members as we have. If you just want to see the original YES this summer, YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, RicWakeman is the band for you.”
He wants to make it clear, under no uncertain terms, that Jon Anderson is the co-founder and the original creative soul of of the band YES and is not a member in the band that is touring under the name YES for the YESTIVAL SUMMER 2017 TOUR. Jon is touring with YES featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman and those dates can be found here: http://www.yesfeaturingarw.com/

SO, BOTTOM LINE TO PMM IS THAT THE SHOW PLAYING IN GREENSBURG AUG 16, IS REALLY NOT THE YES WE GREW UP WITH AND LOVE.  NO ONE CAN REPLACE JON’S VOICE…NO ONE.  PLUS, WAKEMAN ON KEYS?  PURE KILLER.  AND TREVOR RABIN?  FORGET ABOUT IT…THESE GUYS ARE LEGENDS.  BUT, HEY YOU MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND.

ROCK ICONS JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN AND RICK WAKEMAN ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THEY WILL OFFICIALLY BE KNOWN AS ‘YES FEATURING JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN, RICK WAKEMAN’, WHICH IS THE NAME THEY WILL BE TOURING UNDER IN NORTH AMERICA DURING THE LATTER HALF OF 2017.
“IT’S VERY SIMPLE,’ EXPLAINS BAND FOUNDER AND VOCALIST JON ANDERSON. “THE FANS WANT IT, WE WANT IT AND IT’S OUR RIGHT TO USE THE NAME. YES MUSIC IS IN OUR DNA!”
THE DEFINITIVE LINE-UP OF THE GREATEST PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND EVER – JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN, RICK WAKEMAN – TOGETHER AGAIN LIVE!
THE REVIEWS ARE IN FROM THEIR RECENT WORLDWIDE TOUR…
“EVERY SONG SOUNDS LIKE A CELEBRATION. EVERY SONG IS UPLIFTING.”  – CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE
“THERE WERE MULTIPLE ‘PINCH ME’ MOMENTS THROUGHOUT THE SHOW.” – DAILY EXPRESS
“YES, THESE GUYS STILL HAVE IT: JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN AND RICK WAKEMAN FAITHFULLY DELIVERED THE SPIRIT AND THE ESSENCE OF THE MUSIC OF THE BAND FROM WHICH THEY DERIVED…AND THEY DID SO IN GRAND STYLE.” – CREATIVE LOAFING TAMPA BAY
“JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN & RICK WAKEMAN AFFIRM YES’ MUSICAL LEGACY” – ST. LOUIS POST DISPATCH
“THERE WERE MANY STANDING OVATIONS ON THE EVENING, NOT SURPRISING WITH THE COMMENDABLE PERFORMANCE PUT ON BY THESE FIVE MUSICIANS.” – ROCK SHOW CRITIQUE
“TRULY WAS A MOMENTOUS CONCERT. GREAT SONG SELECTION, TIGHT PERFORMANCES FROM EVERYONE, AND A LITTLE FUN AT THE END…IF THEY’RE COMING TO A TOWN NEAR YOU, DO NOT MISS IT.” – PROGARCHY
“CAN ANDERSON, RABIN AND WAKEMAN STILL DAZZLE? YES, INDEED!” – THE (SALT LAKE CITY) HERALD EXTRA
“SOMETIMES COMEBACKS FROM BELOVED MUSICIANS CAN BE DISAPPOINTING; NOT SO THIS TIME.”– GOLDMINE MAGAZINE
SINCE REUNITING FOR A U.S. TOUR IN 2016, YES FEATURING JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN, RICK WAKEMAN HAVE PERFORMED SOLD-OUT SHOWS IN ISRAEL, THE UK, BELGIUM AND HOLLAND, AND HAVE A JAPANESE TOUR SCHEDULED FOR APRIL. DUE TO PUBLIC DEMAND, THEY RETURN TO TOUR THE U.S. AGAIN FROM AUGUST 26TH THROUGH OCTOBER 11TH. IN ADDITION TO THE TOUR DATES, THE TRIO WILL BE RECORDING NEW MATERIAL THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER FOR A PROJECTED ALBUM RELEASE OF EARLY 2018. ALSO UPCOMING IS A DVD THAT WAS FILMED AT THE FINAL UK SHOW OF THEIR RECENT EUROPEAN TOUR (AT MANCHESTER APOLLO, ON MARCH 25TH), FOR RELEASE LATER THIS YEAR. AND TO THE DELIGHT OF LONGTIME YES FANS, ALL THREE WERE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL FAME ON APRIL 7TH.
THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PROG ROCK GROUP OF ALL TIME, YES, WAS CO-FOUNDED BY JON ANDERSON AND THE LATE CHRIS SQUIRE IN 1968 AND WENT ON TO SELL MILLIONS OF UNITS WITH RELEASES SUCH AS FRAGILE, CLOSE TO THE EDGE, TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS, GOING FOR THE ONE AND 90125, AS WELL AS EMBARKING ON SEVERAL RECORD-BREAKING WORLD TOURS.
WHILST RICK IS PREDOMINANTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE ’70S “PROG ERA” OF THE BAND (WHICH SAW YES BECOME A WORLDWIDE STADIUM HEADLINER) AND TREVOR ASSOCIATED WITH THE ’80S “POP ERA” OF THE BAND (WHICH FURTHERED THE BAND’S POPULARITY – INCLUDING THE BAND’S BIGGEST CHART SUCCESS), JON IS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN BOTH FACTIONS (AS HE WAS A MEMBER OF BOTH ERAS). THE TOURING BAND LINE-UP IS COMPLETED BY TWO EXTRAORDINARY MUSICIANS – LEE POMEROY ON BASS AND LOUIS MOLINO III ON DRUMS – WHO HELP TO ENSURE THAT YES’ IMMACULATE ARTISTIC LEGACY REMAINS INTACT.
THE WORLDWIDE TOUR WITH YES FEATURING JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN, RICK WAKEMAN IS BEING PRODUCED BY RENOWNED CONCERT PROMOTER LARRY MAGID, WHO IS CONSIDERED AN ARCHITECT AND LEADER OF THE MODERN CONCERT BUSINESS. Twelve Foot Ninja at Mr. Smalls

An electrifying Friday night in Millvale at Mr. Smalls Theater with one of the freshest, biggest acts to come out of Australia, Twelve Foot Ninja.  With their unique style and incredible stage presence, they were hitting the stage with everything they had.  This being the fourth official time that they were visiting the states, they have definitely shown that they now have quite the following since their debut album came out a few years back.

Right before seeing them play for the first time, I admit that I have never heard any of their music and had no clue what “fusion metal” would even sound like.  Just half way through their first song, I will also admit that I became a fan listening to some of the most unique musicians that have hit the stage to date.  From the excellent guitar work to the killer drum beats back to the smooth vocals that combined together leave you in shock and awe… this is one band that is fairly difficult to describe who they sound like without overloading anyone’s brain; meaning there are about dozen bands that if combined together could do what Twelve Foot Ninja do on a daily basis.  No wonder why these guys have been recognized so much in the past couple of years and are now about to be the direct support for the legendary Disturbed.

Even though Twelve Foot Ninja was not the headliner for the night, it seems as if they could have been since majority of the crowd was screaming their name to start the show.  Once again, they have quite the following now.  Now that I personally know what all the hype is about surrounding this band, it all makes sense, they are the next big thing, and they are worth the listen.  I feel as if most would be surprised by what they hear, in a good way that is.  Plus, seeing them live was quite the experience and I do hope that the albums they have released do just as much justice as their performances do.

Festival founder/curator, Josh Fischel, himself a seasoned touring musician, and 20 year resident of Long Beach says, “Our city is a vibrant, evolving place that’s ripe with community, commerce and culture. Within our city limits, we hold the second largest port in the United States, and proudly claim a dynamic food, music and arts scene. We are leaders in the crusade for equality and environmental rights, residing on the cusp of where Los Angeles and Orange County connect. This is now. Being the world class city we are, we have been long overdue a festival that mirrors the passion and diversity that we experience from our neighbors everyday. It’s time to show off Long Beach and draw the rest of the world in. It’s time for others to experience what us locals have always known. It’s time to allow our residents, once a year, the chance to see Downtown in a different light. MUSIC. TASTES. GOOD.
