Walk The Moon Press Restart Tour 2018

Walk The Moon. You may be reading this and thinking, “oh that’s the band that sings ‘Shut Up And Dance‘, right?” Well, yes, but they are so much more than that. Continue reading to hear all about how they brought the house down at Stage AE on Tuesday night and provided some temporary relief from the cold rainy weather.
On tour with them, Walk The Moon brought along Company of Thieves as their opener. Originally, they’re from Chicago, IL and have since relocated to Los Angeles. Personally, they remind me of a much poppier and mild Tonight Alive… mostly because every member in the band is male aside from the lead singer. Genevieve is the lead singer and she is amazing. She works the stage and has a very powerful voice and can take the attention of everyone in the room. I loved them. Their sound was fitting to the headliner’s genre as well and I felt they meshed well. I hate going to shows and the openers’ genre(s) don’t match or mesh well with who the headliner is. Company of Thieves was the perfect opener and their set was fantastic. Their performance was fun and upbeat and kept the audience’s attention throughout. Their Facebook is linked above and you can follow them on just about every form of social media (and I suggest you check out their music on Spotify as well if Indie/Pop is your thing).
Walk The Moon opened up their set with “Press Restart” from their newest album, ‘What If Nothing’. According to their Facebook page, they are considered Indie/Visual/Lyrical, which is very fitting after having seen them live. Their light show is amazing and rivals The 1975. May not beat it, but it’s up there. They play around with tons of different colors (no pun intended… you’ll understand in a few seconds) and have produced an all around fun production to go along with their crazy talent.
Later in the set, they slowed it down a bit for “Aquaman” and “Surrender” to which the crowd sang every word. “Different Colors” was soon after (see I told you). Before this, lead singer, Nicholas Petricca gave a little speech about equality and our society. Their light show included every different color on the spectrum, with a visual in the background with rainbow colors, the universal representation of equality.
If I could say anything that’s very consistent within their show, it would be to bring ear plugs because it’s very loud and also, don’t be afraid to dance. Have some fun because they make it hard not to. “Shut Up And Dance” really got the crowd moving. Everyone was singing along, dancing, and fist pumping. A few songs later, they got the crowd moving again with “One Foot”, and as I said before, if you’re at a Walk The Moon show, don’t be afraid to dance. Even if you suck at it. They make it so hard to just sit and watch. So, do yourself a favor and give in and dance your socks off.
They continued with “Next In Line” and “Headphones” before leaving the stage and awaiting the screaming crowd, aka their cue to come back and do the encore. Once the crowd was loud enough, they came back and made a point to note that this was the loudest crowd of the tour so far. That of course got the crowd to be even louder. The encore consisted of two hits from the 2014 release, ‘Talking Is Hard‘, “Up 2 U” and finally, “Anna Sun“.
I can honestly say this was one of the most fun shows I’ve been to in a while. Their show is definitely worth the ticket purchase. They have this way of temporarily relieving you of your anxieties for an hour and a half. Some of my favorite photos of the night are showcased below! You can also go check out their latest album, “What If Nothing” on Spotify here!

Anarbor Tour (@Smiling Moose Pittsburgh) 2017: Review and Photos!

words and pix: Abigail McNatt
The local music scene is highly underrated. There are so many different kinds of bands that fall in this scene and are so talented. If I could tell anyone in this city who loves music anything, it would be to attend small shows and listen to bands and artists that don’t have a lot of likes or followers or listens.
One of those bands whose shows I attend quite often (and shoot all the time) is Vertigo. They are a local pop/rock band who play a ton of local shows. They were first on stage at the Smiling Moose on this cold Saturday evening in Pittsburgh. They are a fun band to shoot because you can tell they love what they’re doing and they get the crowd involved as well. I saw a good amount of people in front of the stage bobbing their heads to the groovy music. Overall, their set was very fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend readers to check them out in the link above.
Next on stage was Baltimore pop/rock band, Skyward Story. The previously named band, 3PM, put on a super fun set. Girls went wild for them. Some came from far and wide just to see them play. They interacted well with their crowd and performed many originals but also did Ed Sheeran‘s “Castle on the Hill”. Overall their set was very fun and I enjoyed every second of it. If boy bands are your thing, go check them out!
Going along with the local band theme, next up was pop/punk band from Pittsburgh, Milly. They were pretty cool. Being in the smaller music scene, I was surprised I hadn’t heard of them before. I thought they were pretty good! The crowd was enjoyed it as well it seemed. So if you’re into the local music scene, go check them out in the link above!
The next band, who was also the band touring with Anarbor, was Sundressed. They describe themselves as “emotive punk”. They surprised me because I expected more a more pop/rock sound considering the bands that played prior to them. But they were pretty good. They seemed really into their performance and got the crowd pumped up. So if you’re into the more “emotive punk” type music, go look them up!
Last but not least, the band we were all waiting for… Anarbor. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re considered alternative rock and they’re amazing. They get super into it and the fans were all over the place. They were dancing, singing along, and just enjoying every second they were there. The band had great interaction and put on a wonderful, upbeat performance. So if you haven’t heard of them, go look them up. I provided links to each band above!
Overall, it was a great night and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Some of the photos are showcased below and the rest are featured here.

Mark Lanegan Band Announce “Still Life With Roses” Remix EP Out September 29th on Heavenly Recordings

Mark Lanegan Band Announce Still Life With Roses Remix EP, Out September 29th Via Heavenly Recordings
On US Tour in August
US Tour Dates
Following career-best reviews for his tenth album Gargoyle, and a sold–out UK tour in late June, MARK LANEGAN BAND today announce the release of Still Life With Roses, a 6 track EP of remixes from the LP by various producers whose work he admires. The EP, released 29th September via Heavenly Recordings, will be available as 12” vinyl and download and comprises a brilliant array of remixes by the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Adrian Sherwood and Pye Corner Audio. The Adrian Sherwood remix of Nocturne is available an instant grat and streaming HERE, the track listing is further down the announcement:

Press acclaim for Gargoyle:

“Mark Lanegan makes blues for our time, chopping up sonic tropes, stretching them over handcarved laments, wrenching them from his throat and bleeding badly all over them.” -PASTE

“It features, as always, Lanegan’s smoky, whiskey-soaked baritone singing voice (if you’re unfamiliar, imagining a more soulful Leonard Cohen puts you in the ballpark), and it continues his ongoing explorations of synth music” -Dangerous Minds

“[It] is stunning not only for the music’s scintillating sheen, but also for Lanegan’s excellent performance. His gruff baritone has always been reminiscent of Leonard Cohen, but here he recalls the late great’s iridescent lyrics with a moribund romanticism.” – Stereogum

“The one constant has been Lanegan’s moody, melancholic soul-shaker of a voice.” –The A.V. Club

“Gargoyle is as confident and assured as anything Lanegan has released. It stands up alongside his best work and pushes his method in a few new directions, without trying to break from the paradigm” -Pop Matters

“Gargoyle has an early 80s UK electronic rock feel, with Lanegan’s rough vocal rasp sawing through musical timbres reminiscent of what was being played out at Manchester’s Factory.” – The WIRE

Still Life With Roses tracklist:
1. Nocturne (Adrian Sherwood remix)
2. Blue Blue Sea (Not Waving Remix)
3. Old Swan (Pye Corner Audio remix)
4. Beehive (Andrew Weatherall remix)
5. Beehive (Andrew Weatherall dub)

6. Death’s Head Tattoo (Falling Percussion Dub)

Liam Gallagher Shares Video For New Track “Chinatown”

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/GWDu-9zHG6Y

Debut Solo Album As You Were

Released Globally October 6 on Warner Bros. Records

Last week Liam Gallagher debuted another new track from his highly anticipated solo album, As You Were. Gallagher continues to build anticipation for theOctober 6 release of his debut solo album by sharing the brand new video for the track “Chinatown.” The video was directed by Charlie Lightening for Lightening Films (Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, Kasabian) and was filmed at several locations in London one of which of course was London’s Chinatown area. Click here to view and share the video.
In contrast to album’s first single “Wall Of Glass,” “Chinatown” is an atmospheric, psychedelic slow burner in which he utilizes a softer side of his inimitable vocal prowess. The two tracks hint at what to expect from As You Were, with Gallagher adding a forward-looking expression of his passion for a wide range of influences from the 60s and 70s.

“Chinatown” was produced and written by Andrew Wyatt, the frontman of the band Miike Snow, whose previous credits include collaborations with the likes of Florence + The Machine. In addition to his work on “Chinatown”, Wyatt also co-wrote four other tracks on As You Were the shape of “Wall Of Glass”, “Paper Crown”, “Come Back To Me” and “Doesn’t Have To Be That Way”.

3TEETH @ Rex Theater on July 15th

LA based industrial band 3TEETH, who recently released their 2nd full-length album,<shutdown.exe>, via OMF Records. This record is phenomenal and will undoubtedly go down as one of the year’s best industrial metal releases. The band is currently riding a wave of momentum following last year’s tour with TOOL, which sparked a media firestorm of buzz. Now they’re returning to cement their place as the most buzzed about band of 2017 with <shutdown.exe>.
<shutdown.exe> was produced by 3TEETH, mixed by Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle) and mastered by Howie Wienberg (Deftones, Nirvana, Pantera, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden).
The band will be performing in Pittsburgh at Rex Theater on July 15th.
Formed in 2013, 3TEETH is an L.A.-based transgressive artistic collaborative consisting of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums) and Chase Brawner (guitars). Inspired by the early ‘90s industrial scene and acts like Ministry and NIN, the four-piece boasts a unique amalgam of aggressive sounds and compelling visual art that, combined with their cynical humor and provocative propaganda, ultimately asks fans to join their assault on consensus-based reality.

The group released its self-titled debut album in 2014 and was promptly hailed as a welcome return to the old school industrial sound of the ‘90s that eschewed EBM’s techno beats in favor of grinding grooves, atmospheric keyboards, crunchy guitars and heavily distorted vocals.

Meanwhile, the band developed an intense live show that unleashed the cathartic chaos contained in their studio recordings. On 3TEETH’s stage, the band’s brutal sonics get paired with a dense array of images brought together by the mesmerizing performance of frontman Mincolla. The group saw its creative efforts pay off in a major way when metal giants TOOL handpicked 3TEETH to support them on their 2016 world arena tour with Primus.

Preparation for the band’s next album began in earnest shortly after the tour with new material being written and recorded. Two singles from the album, “Degrade” and “Atrophy,” were released, the latter of which was accompanied by a concept video, and both songs demonstrated that 3TEETH had hit a new creative peak. Sean Beavan, producer and mixer who has worked on albums by NIN, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Slayer and more, was brought in to take the band’s recordings to the next level. The final album was then mastered by Howie Weinberg (Pantera, TOOL, Rammstein) resulting in by far the heaviest sounds the band has ever conjured.

“… Unlikely Candidates bring poppy adult alternative that you’ll love if you’re a fan of bands like Imagine Dragons or Grouplove.” – NBC San Diego

“…the Unlikely Candidates was the biggest surprise at last year’s City of Trees shindig at Bonney Field, peddling some ultra sharp, melodically blistering alt-pop rock with just the right amount of roughness around the edges.” – The Sacramento Bee

“…soaring, sing-along-ready earworms with sky-high ambitions. It’s indie rock made for stadium-sized crowds… moving from the Mumford-esque acoustic anthem ‘Just Breathe’ to the electro-pop of ‘Ringer.’” – Aspen Times

“…this new direction finds the band successfully becoming everything Panic! at the Disco tries so hard to be.” – Central Track

“’Ringer’ could be the most fun alternative rock song of the year…The Unlikely Candidates should be household names right now, the band’s always been that good. With their new EP, they get to prove it. Here’s hoping that in 2017 they earn the rep they deserve.” – Alternative Addiction 4.5/5 Star Review

About LAMB OF GOD:
Richmond, VA natives LAMB OF GOD are one of heavy music’s most successful and uncompromising bands.  When the band’s first major release, New American Gospel, was released in 2000 it was immediately touted as a classic within the genre. AllMusic stated it best, “The essential signatures of post-Pantera metal are in abundance on Lamb of God’s inaugural album. New American Gospel provides a mighty oak upon which gritty American metal’s faith is maintained, effectively bridging the ’90s’ insistence upon drill-sergeant technicality and the old school’s determined focus on riff construction.”
Some predicted a sophomore slump – that no band could top a debut album so strong.  They were proven wrong, with the release of 2004’s Ashes of the Wake, an album that not only exploded stateside (certified Gold by RIAA) but also saw the spread of LAMB OF GOD to all corners of the world.  The band’s first DVD, Killadelphia, followed shortly after and was certified Platinum.  Then, with Sacrament (Album, 2006, #8 debut on the US Billboard Hot 200), LAMB OF GOD were honored with a Grammy nomination for the track “Redneck”, which would be the first of five Grammy nominations for the band to date. Next came Walk With Me In Hell (DVD, 2008) and then the band’s fourth album Wrath in 2009, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart, and then Resolution, which debuted at #3. Shortly after the release of Resolution, vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested in Prague, and spent 30 days in jail on a charge for which he was later acquitted (and lead to Blythe’s bestselling memoir, Dark Days, as well as the film As The Palaces Burn).  After regrouping, LAMB OF GOD lost no ground with their latest full-length album, VII: Sturm Und Drang, the album was #3 in the US, #1 in Canada, #2 in Australia, #3 in Finland, #7 in UK, #12 in Germany and #13 in Japan, and #13 in Netherlands. “Overlord“, the first single from VII: Sturm Und Drang, achieved a new milestone for the band when it reached the Top Thirty of US Active Rock Radio Chart (Mediabase).  Most recently, late last year LAMB OF GOD paid tribute to late, longtime fan and friend Wayne Ford with the release of The Duke EP, which raised funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The EP release coincided with a charity campaign offering personal items such as Blythe’s Ashes Of The Wake Gold plaque, signed signature model guitars, handwritten lyrics and more.
Since inception and through it all, LAMB OF GOD‘s consistent and unwavering commitment to their music – and their fans – has kept them a critical and fan favorite worldwide, selling millions of albums and tickets around the world.
LAMB OF GOD is Randy Blythe (vocals), Mark Morton (guitar), Willie Adler (guitar), John Campbell (bass), and Chris Adler (drums).

CONAN Announce Spring North American Tour/Pittsburgh 5/20 @SmilingMoose

CONAN are as heavy as interplanetary thunder amplified through the roaring black hole anus of Azathoth. Remember that sentence, for it is writ large in virgin blood on the walls of the forgotten temple of Bol-Krastor, deep in the steaming forests of forgotten Lemuria. Conan, a monumentally brutal three piece (in the grand tradition of all the hallowed three pieces through time) hold a sinew-tight line and an iron-grip command over the uber-synchronised powerchord changes and tempo-shifts of the anti-holy trio of bass, drums and guitar. Two weary yet defiant men have the task of vocalizing wretched thoughts over the turgid weight of CONAN‘s metalized bombast. They bear it well, for the task is immense.
unnamed-2Now they bring this immense task back to North America this May on tour with North.  In addition to the headline run, CONAN will also take part in this year’s Maryland Death Fest and 71 Grind Fest in Colorado Springs, CO.  A complete list of dates can be found below.
CONAN frontman Jon Davis commented on their return North America:
“We are excited to get back to the USA and Canada to play at Maryland Death Fest, 71 Grind and also the other awesome shows we have lined up. We are also looking forward to sharing the road with our friends in North.”

More on CONAN:
Way back, in 2006, CONAN formed as a two-piece near the old port of Liverpool, and cut a now mythological demo (‘Battle In The Swamp’). The years dragged by, and fellow warriors came and went (we raise our tankards to their memory). Now they have crystallized into a final configuration – founding member Jon Davis still raging on guitar and vocals, but ably assisted by fellow acolytes of the absurd Chris Fielding on bass and vocals and the dexterous Rich Lewis on drums. Collectively their plans are clear: they seek nothing less than the crushing of a billion skulls.
They have committed their filthy, ocean-sized sound to wax (and the slightly less cool compact disc) several times thus far – with more fetid brooding output always on the reddening horizon. First came the hulking mass of a debut album (in 2010) that was ‘Horseback Battle Hammer’ (Throne, Aurora Borealis), followed by the now much sought after split with like-minded Northern Irish sludge-lords Slomatics (Head of Crom, Burning World) in 2011. In December 2011 CONAN returned to the remote wilderness of Foel Studio, Wales, and into the capable hands of producer Chris Fielding (now their bassmaster) for the next album which was to released on Burning World Records in Spring 2012 – the mighty eardrum-warping ‘Monnos’.
A triumphant recording of their live destruction of the 2012 Roadburn festival was released in 2013 as ‘Mount Wrath’. This was followed by a fearsome 12″ split with Chicago doomfuckers Bongripper in 2013 (Holy Roar Records) and a new devil-deal with Napalm Records, resulting in the evil turgidity of third album proper ‘Blood Eagle’ in 2014. Many tours across the blasted wastelands of Europe and the old lands across the Oceans have resulted in a tight slaying unit that pauses for no weakling and decimates all who will not nod to their titan-riffing. Their latest album ‘Revengeance’ was released in early 2016 – A fourth album of such implausible weight that Azathoth itself threatens to implode in a cosmic super-shower of black death-shit.
Hear the roar of battle. Smell the stench of split blood. A thousand heads piled high like a grim mound of suffering – a blasphemy to nature. Hail CONAN!

The Devil Wears Prada Joins Anthrax, Killswitch Engage Tour/ Pittsburgh Date April 9

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA TO JOIN ANTHRAX AND KILLSWITCH ENGAGE
ON SPRING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
L-R:  Kyle Sipress, Andy Trick, Mike Hranica, Jeremy Depoyster
LOS ANGELES, CA – (Thursday, January 5, 2017) — The Devil Wears Prada will hit the road early in the New Year with a slot on what will be one of the heaviest tours of 2017 – a 27-date North American tour as special support to co-headliners Anthrax and Killswitch Engage.  The trek, presented by SiriusXM, kicks off at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on March 29 and will zig-zag the continent, culminating in Boston on May 7.  Tickets are on sale now; log onto http://www.tdwpband.com/tour for purchasing info.
This tour won’t be the first time that TDWP – Mike Hranica (vocals), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar, vocals), Andy Trick (bass), and Kyle Sipress (lead guitar) – have crossed paths with either band.  Prada toured the U.S. with KsE in 2010, and played with Anthrax on the 2012 Mayhem tour.  Additionally, Adam D., KsE’s lead guitarist, produced two of Prada’s albums – Dead Throne (2011) and 8:18 (2013).
“This tour will be a real treat,” said Prada’s Hranica.  “We have an awesome relationship with Adam, he’s one of the craziest, most fun dudes we know, and when it comes to thrash and metal, you don’t get much bigger names than Anthrax and Killswitch.”
The Devil Wears Prada will be putting together a special set for this tour.  “I love the idea of going to a show and seeing bands whose music is in the same ballpark, but still different from each others’,” Hranica added.  “We have our own personal style on the side of metal, so we’ll do some of our dark, heavy, noisey songs, but probably stay away from interludes inbetween.  We’ll have our own footprint on stage each night.”
These dates will be in support of Prada’s new and sixth full-lenth album, the 11-track, critically-acclaimed Transit Blues (Rise Records).  Produced by Dan Korneff (Pierce The Veil, Motionless in White), Transit Blues examines themes of transition, separation and the toll that constant touring can have on one’s personal life.  Click here to check out the album’s first music video for the song “To The Key Of Evergreen,” inspired by Hranica’s all-time favorite love story, Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita.”

Serengeti premieres new video via Tiny Mix Tapes + LP RELEASE DATE CHANGE

Serengeti and Sicker Man share video for “Boy” from Doctor My Own Patience LP

Watch/Share via Tiny Mix Tapes or YouTube
Due to manufacturing delays, LP release date has been pushed to December 16, 2016.
Preorder via Graveface Records HERE.

Serengeti first began in 2003 when Chicago’s David Cohn offered to add his voice to the world of hip hop. Since then, Serengeti has been bringing his Chicago heritage and distinctive take on hip hop to the musical world, where he has been extremely prolific, generating 15+ albums since his origin.

Perhaps most notable of those records is that of Dennehy, on which Cohn drives home his Chicago heritage into his rhymes via a fictional character, Kenny, that he raps as, even rapping in a Chicagoan accent and references the prominent sports teams and regional favorites of the Midwest. But rapping as a character or a personae is nothing out of the ordinary for Cohn, and his vast catalogue shows him changing and progressing his sound constantly. These changes are often accompanied by various collaborations and side projects. Serengeti has collaborated with the likes of PolyphonicHi-Fidel, and Odd Nosdam on his own studio albums. In 2014, he also teamed up with Sufjan Stevens and Son Lux to become a member of the project Sisyphus.

Serengeti & Sicker Man – “Doctor My Own Patience”
“a song that sees Sicker Man building a soft, sullen piano line atop which Serengeti raps about being ‘too anxious’ and looking for a release from it all.” – A.V. Club

Fast forward to 2013, Cohn met up with Tobias Vethake, aka Sicker Man, in Bonn, Germany, and they collaborated to create Saal. Though they had collaborated before, this album showed a departure for Cohn from his tight knit verse and featured him singing along to the orchestral pop music that Vethake added to the mix.

2016 sees Cohn and Vethake teaming up again, but this time in Berlin, where they recorded their album Doctor My Own Patience, due out December 16 on Graveface Records.

“The eternal paradox of Chicago rapper Serengeti is that his success is more akin to that of a show like Breaking Bad, and totally anomalous in music.” – SPIN

“If the voices on Serengeti’s songs often sound like they don’t belong to a rapper, that’s the idea.” – NPR

“spoken word poet and folk singer chronicling deep emotional despair.” – Pitchfork

“Genre-blurring”
– Stereogum

Doctor My Own Patience deserves your attention for a few plays, at least.”

Rolling Stone

“…if ever there was a moment that signaled Gojira’s status as leaders in the continuing evolution of the genre, it’s now.”

SPIN

“The Duplantiers had to make this album for themselves. We are the fortunate witnesses.”

Consequence of Sound

Magma pulls off the all-too-rare trifecta of being heavy, complex, and catchy, while most of today’s best metal bands are happy to pull off only two of those three things (if that).”

In The Whale @ClubCafe 10/11

In The Whale, are performing at Club Cafe on Tuesday October 11th as part of their North American tour with Electric Six. The two-piece rock band from Denver, CO recently released their new single “American Eyes”, the first track off their upcoming EP Quicksand, coming out October 21st.

screen-shot-2015-05-27-at-9-41-58-am-3In the Whale’s music resonates with anyone thirsting for the time when bands simply rocked. That nostalgia, and the Denver, CO based duo’s need for a vehicle to figure out a way to navigate a world that’s quick to judge and write-off a book by its cover is the foundation for their alternative-punk-blues sound that is showcased on the band’s new EP, Quicksand.

Celebrating their five year anniversary in 2016, the band has grown significantly from thanks to a relentless tour schedule and a live show that’s likened to a sonic boom.  Artists and festival promoters have caught notice with the band playing Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and over 400 shows with the likes of Jane’s Addiction, the Toadies, Electric 6 and many more.

Instead of boasting themselves, Nate Valdez (guitar/vocals) and Eric Riley (drums/vocals) said, “the Chicago Tribune described us best, ‘Stripped down to a simple essence, the band’s hard-edged fare scampers, thrusts and giddily thrashes…Dirty, fun and caked in garage grime, the songs are unconcerned with trends.’  Ok, we have a show to play.”

Cort Guitars Releases AB850F Acoustic Bass Model

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA—In the spirit of back-to-school season, Cort Guitars invites you to meet the new acoustic bass in class: the AB850F. The AB850F features the same high-quality craftsmanship as its classmates with the latest Fishman electronics resulting in a big natural acoustic sound with plenty of volume to anchor the low-end in any musical setting.

unnamed (4)A signature feature of Cort acoustic basses is the full-size, jumbo body that measures 110-135mm. This depth produces a huge, full-bodied sound with plenty of bass and volume. Available in natural or black finish, the AB850F body features a dovetail neck joint and Venetian cutaway for easy high-fret access. Advanced scalloped x-bracing provides exceptional sturdiness beneath the surface.

The AB850F’s wood construction is best-in-class and best-in-sound. Spruce is an overwhelmingly popular choice for the acoustic top because of its ability to provide an excellent balance between strength and flexibility. The AB850F’s spruce top has a versatile sonic character that makes it ideal for a variety of musical genres and playing styles. Equally as popular on acoustic models are the AB850F’s mahogany back and sides that are bright, yet natural with a strong and warm midrange.

This quality acoustic bass has a 43mm nut width at the neck and a standard 34’’ scale length that complements the jumbo-size body for an expansive sound with enhanced string vibration. The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay leads down to an esthetic multiple rosette that complements the rosewood bridge.

The AB850F is equipped with the Fishman ISYS + EQ. Featuring a 2-band equalizer, LED tuner and phase control along with Sonicore pickup, these high-quality electronics deliver the signature Fishman sound as well as excellent amplification.

Competitively priced at $449.99 MSRP, the AB850F provides big sound at big value and comes standard with a gig bag. For more information, and to find a Cort dealer, visit the manufacturer’s website by clicking here.

ABOUT GREEN DAY
Green Day is an American punk rock band composed of vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. Formed in 1986, Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The band’s early releases were with the independent record label Lookout! Records. In 1994, its major label debut Dookie (released through Reprise Records) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the United States. Green Day was widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States.  Green Day’s follow up albums Insomniac (1995) and Nimrod (1997) each sold over two million albums and were certified Double Platinum, and Warning (2000) was certified Platinum.  2004 brought the band’s rock opera American Idiot which reignited the band’s popularity with a younger generation and sold over six million copies in the United States.  Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. The group has won five Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the Year for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, Best Rock Album for the second time for 21st Century Breakdown and Best Musical Show Album for American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording. In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway.  On April 18, 2015, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the 2015 class in what was their first year of eligibility for induction. On October 16, 2015, Green Day released the documentary Heart Like A Hand Grenade, an unprecedented behind the scenes look at the writing and recording of their legendary album American Idiot.

Grouplove first came together in 2009 and were quickly hailed for their standout live performances, both as headliners and at such international festivals as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading + Leeds Festivals, and Glastonbury.  A year after releasing a self-titled EP in 2010, the band returned with their debut full length “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG” featuring a trio of breakout singles – “Colours,” “Itchin’ On A Photograph,” and the RIAA-certified platinum hit “Tongue Tied” which spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Alternative radio chart. The quintet’s second full length album – 2013’s “SPREADING RUMOURS” – was met with a raft of acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times, NYLON, and National Public Radio who called it “ludicrously easy to love.”  As with all of Grouplove’s recorded material, the collection was produced by the band’s own Ryan Rabin, and was highlighted by singles “Ways To Go” and “Shark Attack.”  In 2014, Grouplove contributed the original song “Let Me In” to  “The Fault in Our Stars – Music From the Motion Picture,” the musical companion to the blockbuster film based on The New York Times bestseller. That same year, the band was tapped to create the theme song to the Netflix Original Series “BoJack Horseman.” Last year, vocalist/keyboardist Hannah Hooper collaborated with Volcom for a Lady Grouplove capsule collection of clothing inspired by her personal style and artwork.
Grouplove is: Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Hannah Hooper (vocals, keys), Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums), and Daniel Gleason (bass).

“As manager of GWAR and America’s benevolent deep state dictator Sleazy P. Martini. I want to encourage as many Americans as possible to shun the false left-right dichotomy that is politics and make their voices heard by coming out to see GWAR defend their belts on tour this year. And while your vote will have no effect on the Presidential election this year you can take pleasure in watching Trump and Clinton fight to the death. THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Announce US Tour Dates

From DEP Facebook:

The end is near party peoplllllllllllle. But not yet… not yet. So we had all of the fun getting up close and personal with some of you in the tiny saunas… I mean venues… that we played over the last couple of weeks. There was no better way we could’ve chosen to start the beginning of the end than by getting back in the van and getting down to the slimy nitty gritty with some of y’all in some of our favorite cities. Thanks to everyone who came out and screamed and sweat and bled with us and checked their fucks at the door. So invigorating to play such feral explosive small shows after being dormant for a while. Sad to know they will be our last shows in venues that small and intimate but very meaningful to say the least. Full body chills/goosebumps every night to see you all go into a frenzy and scream along to the end of Limerent Death so soon after we released it. So, because we’re kinda hooked on this whole intimate show thing now, we’re doing another in the UK this week at Old Blue Last. This place holds 150 people….tickets go on sale today at 3pm. Temple Of The Dog Premieres Previously Unreleased Track “Black Cat” Via Rolling Stone

SPECIAL 25TH ANNIVERSARY REISSUE COLLECTION TO BE RELEASED BY UME ON SEPTEMBER 30TH
Temple of the Dog – the Seattle supergroup featuring Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam’sJeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready, and drummer Matt Cameron (who plays drums with both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) – has reunited and will tour for the first time ever since forming in 1990. Read Cornell’s interview with Rolling Stone and listen to the band’s previously unreleased track “Black Cat” HERE.
On September 30th UMe will release a special Temple of the Dog 25th anniversary reissue collection of their landmark album, newly mixed by Brendan O’Brien. The collection will be available in four configurations, including a four disc Super Deluxe, a double LP, a two CD Deluxe, and a single CD. Physical pre-orders are available today along with a detailed list of the contents of each configurationHERE.
Temple of the Dog came together from the ashes of Mother Love Bone following the death from a drug overdose of its frontman Andrew Wood, Cornell’s close friend and roommate. Cornell wrote future TOTD songs “Say Hello 2 Heaven” and “Reach Down” to help process his grief, “but the songs didn’t have any destination,” he says. “I was compelled to write them and there they were – written in a vacuum as a tribute to Andy. My thought was that maybe I could record these songs with the remaining members of Mother Love Bone and that maybe we could release them as a tribute.”
Mother Love Bone’s Gossard and Ament began playing with McCready, and they brought in Soundgarden’s Cameron to drum on demos. Because this was a collaboration, and a tribute, there was no commercial expectation for the Temple of the Dog album. It would be, Gossard would later observe, “the easiest and most beautiful record that we’ve ever been involved with.” Adds Cornell: “Temple was about making an album simply for the joy of doing it. We weren’t concerned what anyone outside of our group of friends would think of it. It was the first and maybe only stress-free album that we all made.”
Gossard, Ament, and McCready were also simultaneously forming a new band, which more than six months later would be known as Pearl Jam. A singer from San Diego named Eddie Vedder, who was vying to lead the project, came into the studio to sing background vocals on three of the Temple songs. When Cornell thought another song, “Hunger Strike,” needed a duet, Vedder was enlisted. “Hunger Strike” became a hit single, peaking at No. 4 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
Temple of the Dog performed live only a handful of times, most notably in Seattle, in November and December of 1990. Those shows have become some of the most legendary Seattle concerts of all-time. Their 2016 shows mark the first time the band has ever toured. (Cornell joined Pearl Jam in 2014 at the Bridge School show and for two nights at PJ20 in Alpine Valley, WI, and the Temple line-up played “Reach Down” and “Call Me a Dog” at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in January 2015.)
“This is something no one has ever seen,” Cornell says of the official reunion. “We wanted to stop and recognize that we did this and pay homage.”
Temple of the Dog’s upcoming tour dates are as follows:
11/04  Philadelphia, PA      Tower Theater
11/07  New York, NY           Madison Square Garden
11/11  San Francisco, CA  Bill Graham Civic Center

BRIGHTON -- New Record by THE SHONDES -- 9.16.16
The Shondes – Brighton album trailer
When The Shondes released The Garden (Exotic Fever 2013), frontwoman Louisa Solomon said it was “an album about growing up,” and she had no idea how right she was.Rolling Stone’s 4-star review dubbed it “Riot-grrrl furor, arena bombast and klezmer stomp,” while The Washington Post said: “Every time I’ve seen The Shondes, a hurricane has touched down. Violinist Elijah Oberman rocks his instrument like the world is ending. Louisa Solomon sings like her soul is leaping out of her mouth. Every time I wondered when the band would break big.” With this game-changing wave of critical praise, followed by a national tour with punk legends Against Me!, the scrappy, heart-on-their-sleeves New Yorkers were truly coming into their own, and they set right to work on their follow-up, Brighton (Exotic Fever 2016).

On this record we find the band delivering their signature power hooks, charming group harmonies, and clap-along breakdowns with a new ease and sophistication. It feels lighter, more confident, less forced; where they once fought for hope, willed anthems into being, they now sound effortlessly alive. This is in no small part due to the founding pair (best friends Oberman and Solomon) alighting on the right lineup. Drummer Alex Smith and guitarist Courtney Robbins were both recruited in 2015, with Robbins relocating from Tucson. There is an unmissable and even magical cohesion among the four, as though with this level of musicianship, a burden has lifted and the music can finally bloom into the satisfying, spirited pop-rock it always wanted to be. They have been described as “Bruce Springsteen-meets-Bikini Kill,” and on Brighton they add serious pop appeal to the formula that will have you punching your fist in the air despite yourself.

With Smith’s cracking snare rousing any listener to full attention, her rock-solid drumming anchors the absolute powerhouse that is Robbins’s guitar. Un-ironically revelling in a wailing solo on one track and creating a tapestry of delicate, twinkling overlays on the next, it dramatically amplifies each song’s emotional pay-off. Springsteen biographer Peter Ames Carlin said Solomon has “better-stand-back vocals…one of the biggest voices in pop,” and she has been compared to the likes of Chrissie Hynde and Corin Tucker, but on Brighton the band provides a foundation for both her signature belt and a gentler head voice rarely utilized on past records. Oberman’s alternatingly keening and raucous violin is its perfect complement, shining in solos and skillful counterpoint. The overall effect is a more dynamic version of a beloved rock band; losing none of their anthemic power, they have crafted eminently joyful, emotionally complex rock songs.

In 2015 Solomon married poet Miller Oberman (yes, much to fans’ delight, he is violinist Elijah’s brother), and many of these songs are in some sense “love songs,” though the most consistent theme of the record is transformation, steering it away from the pitfalls of pop cliché, and toward something much more interesting. The Shondes have always prided themselves on their ability to get a cynic singing along, and they’ve never been in finer form than on this collection in which love, neglect, survival, despair, and hope are inescapably bound. Brighton is a record about turning toward possibility and building beautiful things out of wreckage, and it offers a much-needed soundtrack for the broken and broken-hearted among us who are trying to do just that.
