Cheap Trick Show No Signs Of Slowing Down At Stage AE

For the past few days all I’ve been singing around the house, in the car, and in my head have been the words to “Surrender”.  Cheap Trick’s songs have always been infectious and that is why they have stood the test of time.  The fact that they have been jamming live well after they made Cheap Trick at Budokan one of the best live albums of all time is a feat unto itself and a testament to their musicianship and showmanship (CT has been around since 1975).

Here we are in 2013, and even though drummer Bun E. Carlos is no longer touring with them (replaced by guitarist Rick Nielsen’s son Daxx), they are still amazing in concert and put on one hell of a show.  I certainly did not know what to expect having never truly witnessed Cheap Trick live other than TV and YouTube clips.  I just could not pass up seeing one of my all time favorite guitar players and characters, Nielsen and one of the original cool lead singers of rock n roll, Robin Zander, with all due respect to bassist Tom Petersson who has his own ultra cool happening.  Cheap Trick plays every song you want them too, Rick changes guitars every song and brings out all the crazy funky ones you love to see and throws tons of picks to the fans, and Robin hits every note perfectly while Tom and Daxx hold it down on the rhythm end.  These guys have been rockin’ for pretty much forty years and show no signs of stopping…that’s amazing in this day and age of one hit wonder boys and flash in the pan auto tune fakes.  Long Live Cheap Trick.  (Set List Below)

Neil Nathan Inc. Releases Obama Claymation Video

“A beautiful call to arms for the common man, an all out tooth to the curb attack on the corruption, greed, and tyranny that surround us. Neil’s voice is just as majestic when he is angry as it is when he is in love.” – Trainwrecked Society

In honor of Obama’s Second Term, Neil Nathan Inc. releases the Jumpstart Music Video off their acclaimed Power 2 The People Concept LP, Sweep The Nation. And like any 21st Century profit minded corporation in Earth’s Global Village, they outsourced production to the tiniest of Asian Tigers, The Philippines.

In it, The Obama Twins, Hope and Change, drag race each other in an all out battle to see who will Win The Future. But obstacles abound in the form of Fearless President Putin, Iranian President Ahmadenijad & His Nuclear Bomb, Angela Merkel & The Euro-Mobile, as well as The Republican Elephant & their radical counterparts, The Tea Party. But do not fret, for help is on the way from Israeli President Netanyahu, Chinese Leader Xi Jinping & His Gang of Dragons, and ultimately America’s Man of Steel, Super Bill Clinton.

Neil Nathan explains “The tune was influenced by Cheap Trick, Guided By Voices, and Iggy Pop.” Download “Jumpstart” here:

Nathan’s new record marries his two loves, rock ‘n’ roll and history. He taught history for a decade in two of NYC’s most dangerous schools, Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in Manhattan and Theodore Roosevelt High School in The Bronx. While at MLK High School, he gave his students a final exam while a SWAT Team patrolled the halls with loaded rifles searching for the shooter in their midst. The next day, the Media Circus, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton descended on the school like flies, in a strange twist, Nathan taught in the classroom with the bullet dent in the door the following year. Nathan was also featured on the cover of American Teacher Magazine for directing an Annenberg funded arts education program that partnered MLK High School with New York City Opera, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Guggenheim Museum.

Neil Nathan Inc.’s Sweep The Nation, was recently featured in Magnet Magazine, The Vinyl District, and UK’s No Ripchord Magazine.
