Yes it’s almost 4 months away, yes there is lots of stuff still to come, but we figured we would tease you with some of the great music we have lined up for the 12th spectacular edition of POP Montreal. So mentally prepare yourselves, do your research, start feeling up, so you can get down and live all your dreams with us from September 25th to 29th in La Belle Ville!

Some of the highlights include none other than Grammy Award-winning, Beyoncé song writing, love king supreme, The-Dream, performing in Montreal for the first time. If you’re looking for legends, we have them in spades, starting with Ms. Misty Blue herself, the legendary R&B/blues queen, Dorothy Moore. Or how about dancehall king Yellowman who will battle Josey Wales, recreating their classic 1984 album Yellowman versus Josey Wales, for the first time in Montreal. Finally, two original members of Parliament, Fred Wesley and Bernie Worrell, will be on stage together for a one-time-only special show.

While we’re on the topic of special shows, we’re super excited to announce that master interviewer Jian Ghomeshi will set up shop during the fest to record a special night of his talk and music mash-up at Théâtre l’Olympia. Jian is “​stoked to b​ring Q to ​beautiful Montreal in the middle of P​OP​. This will be fun!”

We’ll also have local geniuses, including Colin Stetson, Tim Hecker, Majical Cloudz, plus the amazing Quebecois disco ruler Pierre Perpall, who you may know from the Chromeo DJ Kicks compilation. There’s lots of amazing underground discoveries like Norway’s Jenny Hval, Team Rockit from Sweden, Toronto’s DIANA, the incredible SSION from down south and Lebanon’s Mashrou’ Leila.  The list below is a taste, we’ll have another one later this summer so enjoy, breathe and get ready for the party!

Created in 2011 by MusicFile Productions, a Georgia based LLC; Savannah Stopover is a three-day music festival that takes place the weekend prior to SXSW in Savannah’s famed historic district. Biscuits and gravy for breakfast is not out of the question! Festivalgoers get to immerse themselves in the shamelessly social mayhem of the South’s most beautiful, vibrant and creative small city.

Savannah Stopover Special Events

Opening Night: Savannah is home to SCAD- the Savannah College of Art and Design- one of the nation’s most prestigious art schools. SCAD students, along with countless other area students and artists, create band posters for each Stopover band. The artwork will be showcased at an opening night art party and concert featuring The Last Bison on March 7th.

of Montreal Concert In The Park: Savannah Stopover, in Partnership with Visit Savannah, is hosting a free concert in the city’s historic Forsyth Park, featuring Athens, GA legends of Montreal on Friday night, March 8th.

Soul Clap and Dance Off: The festival goes retro on Saturday night March 9th with Jonathan Toubin’s legendary New York Night Train Soul Clap & Dance Off, spinning rare 60’s soul on 45-RPM vinyl.

Savannah Stopover Fun
Savannah’s open container laws make it one of only a few places in the U.S. where merriment takes to the streets. This year’s festival will include the now infamous late night DJ after parties in the Artist Lounge, afternoon stages with beer, bar-b-cue and sliders and many more special events to be announced. In Savannah, you’re never more than a short walk or Pedicab ride away from your next musical adventure.
