The long awaited Born of Osiris album has finally hit the shelves. Ever since the band released their first single for this anticipated album, it became a highly anticipated album. M∆chine gave us only a little bit of what was to come. Mainly because it was the opening track on the album so who knows what we could expect after that. As soon as M∆chine ended it jumps straight into Divergency which ended becoming the second single on this album. BOO has become very fond of the synth machine being involved with their music and they love having very close knit riffs combined with the double bass matching it exactly. M∆chine and Divergency are great examples of that. A song that caught my attention was called ∆eon III because it had what sounded like it had an India/Egyptian music style influence behind it with the synth machine. Adding in the heavy guitar riffs and double bass was an odd mix at first but it flowed very well because it went into a more technical upbeat song. On this entire album, I fell in love with two songs that I have listened to countless times already; they are Exhil∆r∆te and Illusionist. Exhil∆r∆te actually incorporated some clean vocals to give you a different feel for the album but it also reminds you of their past album The Discovery a lot. Then we have the song Illusionist which is just filled with insanity. When the song kicks in, the double bass just takes off and doesn’t stop. Then all of a sudden you start hearing the guitarists pulling out some pretty fast sweeps and scales. Out of the entire album, Illusionist was probably the best put together. Don’t get me wrong, the entire album is amazing, but this song just happens to be on a whole other level then the rest. Vocals, bass, guitar, and drums were just all around great on this record. A proud accomplishment for BOO. This would be an album that you could listen to from start to finish. If you’re into deathcore music, then check this album out as soon as possible.
Born of Osiris took some time to chat with COO/Editor in Chief Alan at The Rockstar Mayhem Festival 2013 in Pittsburgh on July 12, 2013. Watch the video to hear BOO talk about Mayhem festival, traveling in a Bandwagon, their new album and single Machine, early influences, and Lee’s work with kids who have mental disabilities…

*BEYOND DISHONOR is looking for management, label and booking agent interest. To inquire, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.*
Trenton, New Jersey metalcore mainstays BEYOND DISHONOR have released a music video for their first single, entitled ‘Heisenberg’, today via their official YouTube channel. Watch here –http://youtu.be/BLRfAGgK23Y. Any fan of the hit television drama ‘Breaking Bad’ will immediately recognize that ‘Heisenberg’ is a tribute to the popular show— complete with yellow meth lab suits, greasy cigar-smoking drug kingpins, shady factory laboratories galore and more. ‘Heisenberg’ is cut from the band’s upcoming EP Generations, set to drop in June 2013.
“It’s an obvious homage to one of our favorite pieces of entertainment, but it is wrapped around a stronger metaphor – just as Walt perfects the formula against his better judgement, so too are we forced to find and perfect the formula for notice and respect in this tumultuous industry and genre,” states lead vocalist Reese Dunlap. “That theme is referenced throughout the song, and goes one step further in the video, where we are, in a sense, a victim of this formulaic control. It is only when we have ‘perfected the formula’ that we can finally escape mediocrity.”
Breaking free of the norm is exactly what BEYOND DISHONOR plans to do with their new EP Generations, which boasts production credits from acclaimed producer Andreas Magnusson, known for his work with The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom, This or The Apocalypse and more. The five-piece combines eclectic styles and ranging influences to create music that is devastatingly heavy and aggressive enough for the most hardcore of fans, yet rhythmic and groovy enough to be accessible to those on the fringe. In a recent write-up, Heavyblogisheavy.com said, “The music lands on the good side of the contemporary metalcore/deathcore spectrum, for fans of early Born of Osiris (sans keyboards) or Within the Ruins.”
Drawing inspiration from pop culture, primarily in the form of movies, television and gaming, is one of countless ways BEYOND DISHONOR has garnered fans in the local and national metal scene since they formed in late 2006. Their 2011 full-length, Travesty, is a well-received concept album drawing from band favorites Se7en, Ghostbusters and Full Metal Jacket. In similar fashion, Generations features pop culture references evident in song titles like ‘ED209 vs. The Staircase’ (RoboCop) and ‘What Clayton Bigsby Doesn’t Know’ (Chappelle’s Show).
In the state of New Jersey and even nationally, BEYOND DISHONOR asserts one of the strongest DIY success stories in a very challenging genre. The band churns out a staggering 70+ self-funded shows a year— without any label, booking agency, or management assistance. BEYOND DISHONOR is pushing 5,000+ fans on their official Facebook page and 10,000+ on Twitter— essentially commanding the attention of East coast metal fans with each and every post. Much of their success stems from the overwhelming support and praise provided by the many nationally-recognized artists they have supported, including Unearth, Chimaira, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, All Shall Perish, Winds of Plague, Born of Osiris, Suffocation, Emmure, and numerous others.
This past February, BEYOND DISHONOR won the Trenton, NJ date of the Sumerian Records “Headband for the Highway” competition, which was a touring “battle of the bands”-style performance competition in which bands from each market were chosen to perform on a large summer festival date. As the winner, the band was selected to perform on a local date of the All Stars Tour (this year featuring Every Time I Die, Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya and more). Specifics regarding this performance are set to be announced soon.
BEYOND DISHONOR will head out on a 13-date east coast trek beginning April 12th. Several dates include performances with internationally-recognized artists such as Miss May I, Whitechapel, Texas in July and more, plus a stop at the annual Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, PA. BANDHAPPY, the first LIVE online and in-person music education service, is creating a sponsorship with the Vans Warped Tour this summer. As a sponsor, BANDHAPPY will offer a unique service for fans and bands alike on each date of the tour. BANDHAPPY is providing an official “BANDHAPPY Lesson Tent” where fans/attendees will be able to take lessons from their favorite bands/musicians on the Vans Warped Tour. Since launch, BANDHAPPY has serviced thousands of students in over 100 countries learning daily on the site by either live video chat or in-person while artists are on tour.
At the Vans Warped Tour, BANDHAPPY lessons can include anything from instrument and vocal lessons, to lessons about songwriting, marketing, image, management, gear walk-throughs, or anything else relating to the music industry. Take a trip over to www.bandhappy.com/warpedtour and check out all of the new details, as well as to vote for which artists you would like lessons from (and on what instrument) in each city.
All BANDHAPPY lessons will take place in the official BANDHAPPY Lesson Tent and can be pre-purchased at the link above, or via cash or credit card on day-of-show. Initially, BANDHAPPY will be offering pre-sale lessons for fans via http://www.bandhappy.com/warpedtour from members of Bayside, Born of Osiris, The Streetlight Manifesto, After the Burial, Vanna, iwrestledabearonce, Impending Doom, Chelsea Grin, and many more!
BANDHAPPY representatives will be on-site outside the festival speaking with fans waiting in line and taking orders for lessons. During lessons, students will be provided with practice instruments by SJC Drums, Ernie Ball, Orange Amps, Evans Drumheads, Planet Waves, Pro-Mark Drum sticks, Mapex hardware and pedals. Also taking place in the BANDHAPPY Lesson Tent will be master class meet and greets, contests, recording of lesson footage, and more. Additionally, official Vans Warped Tour ‘Pit Reporter’ Amy Willard will be taking weekly lessons at the tent and will issue updates.
Not only a great tool for fans attending the festival, this is a great opportunity for bands to become teachers on the tour as well. Lessons can be taught in a band’s down time every day, and while this is definitely a way for them to make additional money, it’s so much more than that. Both BANDHAPPY and Vans Warped Tour will be heavily promoting BANDHAPPY and its teachers. There will be a vast amount of articles, interviews, blogs, posts, etc. about this service, and the bands who take part in it.
Bands can use BANDHAPPY to book and provide online lessons to their students with the built in video chat setup, or book private, in person lessons at home or on tour. BANDHAPPY makes this effortless and it takes the hassle out of lessons. Bands can set their own rates and schedules with the assistance of BANDHAPPY, and everything is self-contained including scheduling, payment, etc., so your info stays private and your schedule stays organized. It has never been easier to establish a dedicated network of students worldwide.
