MARTYR DEFILED releases new video for “Demons In The Mist”

UK metallers MARTYR DEFILED have released a video for the new single, “Demons In The Mist”, taken from the forthcoming album No Hope No Morality, due out April 28th in Europe and April 29th in North America (digital only) via Siege Of Amida/Century Media Records. “Demons In The Mist” can be viewed here:

Following international touring with the likes of ALL SHALL PERISH, THY ART IS MURDER, DESPISED ICON and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, MARTYR DEFILED is primed for total domination with their darkest, heaviest release yet. Mixed and mastered by Andreas Magnusson (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DESPISED ICON), No Hope No Morality channels a more groove-laden template to the band’s sound. Lincoln’s heaviest have produced a sonic recreation of a beautiful nightmare: city-leveling riffs meet bone-crushing breakdowns, embodied through powerful songs that are sure to devastate in the live arena.

“…they certainly come up trumps in terms of sheer balls-to-the-wall heaviness. Galloping riffs, blast beat drumming, guttural vocals and monumentally bludegeoning breakdowns…blending to create a sound that suggests the band are well up to the challenge of taking on any more-hyped peers from across the atlantic.” — BIG CHEESE MAGAZINE

“…murderously contagious riffs and venomous lyrics pack an exhilarating punch, marking the quintet out for future acclaim.” — METAL HAMMER MAGAZINE

“Armed with their brute sonic artillery, it’s certainly safe to say that ‘In Shadows’ is a beast made up of pulsating, neck-snapping, wonderment.” — TERRORIZER MAGAZINE

“We felt like ‘Warpath’ showed all the different elements this album has to offer,” says vocalist Ryan Kirby. “When the song was originally written we had no intentions of it being a ‘single’ but once we played with the structure and added vocals it instantly became one of our favorites. Plus, we used a clip of the song in the first studio update we put out and got a very good response!”

Recorded with esteemed producer Andreas Magnusson (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER), Creation/Destruction is at once the fulfillment of a longtime dream for FIT FOR A KING, and just the first step in what is sure to sure to be an incredible journey for a band with massive potential.

Following several years of relentless DIY touring and a well-received, independently released album (2011’s Descendents), FIT FOR A KING are reaping the benefits of their hard work. The hotly tipped metalcore band has been elbowing its way onto the national scene as a full-time touring outfit, cultivating fans at an alarming clip with a crushingly heavy, artful take on the genre that gives subtle tips of the hat to bands as diverse as THE ACACIA STRAIN, CIRCA SURVIVE and LINKIN PARK.

Black Dahlia Murder: A Pittsburgh Pictorial

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Black Dahlia Murder derived their name from the 1947 unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, and in Pittsburgh the absolutely killed. With influences ranging from Carcass, At the Gates, Darkane, Dissection, Darkthrone, Morbid Angel, The Haunted, In Flames, Dimension Zero, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Pantera and Megadeth- the band has an interesting mix of very hardcore genres.

Mainly sticking to the genres of melodic death metal, metalcore, and deathcore, when asked to describe what kind of music the band plays, Strnad commented: “I’ve always said that we’re melodic death metal. We are mostly influenced by Swedish bands and Carcass. The heavy end of our sound is the American style creeping in, with some Floridian influences like Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation and that kind of stuff. We’ve been labeled more often because of our look than our sound, which is dumb, and speaks volumes about what kind of geniuses are out there!”. In an interview with Uranium Magazine, Strnad also stated, “Some bands that get labeled as metalcore are actually good, like Between the Buried and Me or The Red Chord. Metal is what I grew up with, and then I learned about punk and hardcore. But a lot of our ethics, the way we carry ourselves, is more punk…I like that hardcore has a sense of community without the competition you see in metal.”

The only disappointment for many of the Pittsburgh fans was the “early” start of BDM. Most shows at Stage AE start about an hour after doors open, but BDM went on pretty early (6:30) causing many to miss part or all of their set.

Black Dahlia Murder Drummer Confirms Leaving Band

He confirms that he is no longer going to be drumming for The Black Dahlia Murder, and that he even had a hand in picking Alan Cassidy, who is not the band’s new drummer, but rather just a temporary replacement.
He will be focusing his effort on other projects, including finally tracking drums in January on that highly anticipated collaboration with Adam D. from Killswitch Engage and George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, that we are really excited about. He also has a grind project in the works.
Finally, he said he’s planning on opening a tattoo shop outside of Richmond, VA with his wife.

Metal phenoms FIT FOR A KING sign with Solid State Records

Solid State Records is pleased to announce the addition of surging Texas metal buzz band FIT FOR A KING to its growing roster of trendsetting acts.

The band’s passionate music, coupled with an explosive live show, has made FIT FOR A KING a sensation in the independent music scene, as evidenced by the 600,000+ fans who viewed their debut video on YouTube.

To tide over that army of devotees until their Solid State debut is ready for release, FIT FOR A KING are unveiling a new video today for fan favorite track “Descendants.” Shot primarily in an Oklahoma City venue while the band was on tour with ICE NINE KILLS, the video captures FIT FOR A KING in all of their raging, kinetic glory.

“‘Descendants’ is a good introduction to FFAK because it’s energetic and in your face. It is one of our heaviest songs but it has a lot of groove,” explains guitarist Justin Hamra. “We shot most of the video during the show, and then worked until about 2 am getting single shots, and then had a 12 hour drive the following day to make it to the next show in Tennessee.” All in a day’s work for one of the underground metal scene’s most buzzing bands.

After a few years of relentless DIY touring and one well-received, independently released album,
FIT FOR A KING are finally reaping the benefits of their hard work. In September, the band will
head into the studio with esteemed producer Andreas Magnusson (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) to record its debut album, due out in early 2013 on Solid State Records. It is at once the fulfillment of a longtime dream for FIT FOR A KING, and just the first step in what is sure to sure to be an incredible journey for a band with massive potential.

“Words cannot even express how excited we are to join the Solid State family,” Hamra says. “We grew up listening to Solid State bands and we always talked about being on the label and how amazing it would be. And for it to actually happen is one the best feelings we’ve had as a band.”

“For us to be signed to this label is a massive step for this band,” he adds. “We’ve been waiting and holding off on labels for so long until we felt we had the right one. Our mission is just to work hard and put out music that we are proud of and that people want to listen to. We know we are all sent by God to do what we are doing in this band and we want to do our best to make every effort to be the best we can be.”
