Eternal Frequency is a five piece, female fronted hard rock band based out of Central Pennsylvania. Blending influences of Metalcore, Hard rock, and Active Rock, Eternal Frequency brings a new energy that is also dominated by vocalist, songwriter, and frontwoman Emelle. August Burns Red Gives Altar Bar One Last Performance

As most Pittsburgh natives have heard, one of the best venues in the area was closing down at the end of July, but there was going to be a final farewell that would definitely fit Altar Bar’s ten years of service by having a weeks’ worth of shows to make up for the sudden demise of the beloved venue.  Sadly, due to building issues, they could not properly give that goodbye at Altar Bar, but instead the Rex Theater; another venue through Drusky Entertainment.  Luckily, the shows went on in celebrating Altar Bar’s years of service with a fantastic lineup of shows including a Pittsburgh favorite in the metal community, August Burns Red.

It was not too long ago that ABR stopped by Pittsburgh with the legendary Between the Buried and Me on a co-headlining tour.  Now they are back for not just one, but two nights of head banging, moshing, and singalongs at the Rex Theater on South Side.  It was a different change of pace to see them like this, mainly because they pulled out some older songs to play for this two night show for a total of thirty songs in which only five were repeated.

From start to finish, the show was really nonstop for ABR along with the crowd.  Between a spectacular performance and this being the last few shows ever to be played at Altar Bar (even though it was not), there was no way that this could not be a great couple of nights for everyone.  All of this would sooner or later have to come to an end… but it was nice to have a band that loved Altar Bar so much that they were more than willing to play two nights for one of their favorite venues.  With that being said, and with a heavy heart, we say farewell to Altar Bar along with a huge thank you to them and August Burns Red for one of the greatest ways to say goodbye you could ever wish for.

The single marks the latest in a line of reinterpreted holiday classics from the band, all of which were collected in last year’s release of August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album.

Billboard Top 10 metalcore act August Burns Red has announced dates for an upcoming national fall headline tour which kicks off November 1 in Philadelphia, PA and runs through December 15 in Lancaster,PA. Lending support will be Blessthefall, Defeater and Beartooth.

AUGUST BURNS RED announce plans for annual hometown Christmas show

Continuing a tradition that has spanned 8 years, AUGUST BURNS RED are excited to announce their plans for their annual hometown Christmas show – December 15th, 2013 in Lancaster, PA.

Following a string of sell-outs in their hometown market, this year sees ABR move into the spacious Lancaster County Convention Center for a massive show that caps off the band’s six week North American tour and combines it with a date on the headlining run of fellow heavyweights EVERY TIME I DIE.

Supporting the two acts are DEFEATER, LETLIVE, CODE ORANGE KIDS, ONE YEAR LATER and THE ROAD TO MILESTONE.

“In addition to holiday releases such as singles and last year’s Sleddin’ Hill, we’ve long had a tradition of ending the year with our annual Christmas show in Lancaster, PA,” explains guitarist JB Brubaker. “This year we are doing it a bit earlier than usual, and we’re joining forces with the EVERY TIME I DIE tour to make this the biggest line up we’ve ever had and taking the show to the Lancaster County Convention Center in downtown Lancaster. It will be the last date of our US headline tour, and a festive way to wrap up the tour.”

Jacob Luhrs Founder/Head of HeartSupport  Email: jake@heartsupport.com I was raised in a non-Christian family, and this is my story of how God found me. My parents divorced when I was at a very young age. My father moved to Virginia where his parents lived, and my mother, sister and I staying in South Carolina. We moved from our beautiful home in Greenville, SC to the government aid housing in the same area. We lived there for a year and a half, then settled in Columbia, SC where I grew up most of my life. Transitioning from government aid housing into a location with great schooling and a different lifestyle all around was difficult for me. Because I didn’t have many friends and was struggling to find a place, I held onto my sister for dear life to have someone to connect with. Both of my parents at this time remarried and I lived with my mother, sister, and now my step father. Having step parents is a very difficult thing to understand and deal with at such a young age. Now however I understand much more and love both of them dearly. Moving from the “ghetto” to a neighborhood in Columbia caused me to grew through the ghetto lifestyle and into the punk rock scene. By going to shows at the age of 16 I had my first encounter with what I believe to be my first true “desire.” To be in a band, and play music, to express my pain, angst, and love through music alone. I started my first band with some friends called “Smash Adams.” Practicing in my mothers house above the garage and playing small shows around town, VFW halls, and at our high school. I then moved onto a band called “Last To Know”, playing with them brought more experience, but the band that really set me in my ways and pursuit was “She Walks In Beauty.” At this time I was about 18 or 19 years old. It was your typical metalcore band yet reaching heights in our local scene and playing shows outside of my state made me believe it was just the beginning, or so I thought. I would work two jobs during the summers so that I could afford merch to sell at my sell at our shows. My Popa gave me a check to record our first demo. I was truly seeing my dream come true. I was making a name for myself and doing what I always wanted. Unfortunately, I also dove head first into drinking, partying, lustful acts and experimenting with certain drugs. I ended up moving out of my mothers house and into a house with 4 dogs and 3 roommates. My room was the size of a closet! I went to a technical college but dropped out using the excuse that “it took up too much of my time.” I sold my Nissan Maxima for a cargo van so I could actually have a “touring” vehicle for out of state shows. I decided later on to take two classes at the technical college, one being Introduction into Audio Engineering and the other in Music Business. During that time, my band fell apart at the seams. Some of my guys wouldn’t even show up for practice; one quit and the other one would always show up drunk. I saw my dreams and passions falling apart, thus making me extremely depressed. I started going to the practice sheds on a nightly basis, watching other bands practice while I drowned my sorrows in any bottle of alcohol I could get my hands on. At this time I was living with my friends and working for a handyman, waking up between 4-5 a.m. to work until 5 p.m. four days a week. I’d come home to more drinking and partying. I hit a dead end in my life. I was sleeping around with girls and dipping my hands in drugs occasionally. I also had a close family member who struggled with heroin at the time, and that alone was a huge trial and brought me much pain. I have personally never dealt with heroin or cocaine, but seeing it first hand and how it was affecting my family member was a huge issue in my life. By the age of 19, I was struggling with so many things. Not being loved by my family, lost in drugs, alcohol and girls. I had no where to go and no one to reach out to. I started to feel worthless and hollow. I began to think of committing suicide. I thought of leaving all of this crap behind. At the time, I figured where ever I was going to go had to be better than the place I was in! I remember sitting in my seat in class with my head down crying in despair, and asking God WHY! Then the day came that completely changed my life. I was working on a house with my boss one morning and decided to go outside for a cigarette. I talked to the Lord and told him “God, if you are real, if your son Jesus Christ is truly real, then show me! I don’t want my life, and if you want it you can have it, but if not then I’m going to kill myself…” I instantly felt an enormous flow of love in my soul. I couldn’t stop smiling! I was still in the same place, with the same struggles, working at LOVED! I was no longer ALONE! I felt someone cared! That someone was God! I then took on a whole new life that God had given me. He was there to help me, to show me the way, to bring understanding to this mess I had called life. I was the happiest man on earth that day. I truly didn’t have to kill myself or live like this any longer. God was there to show me the way out and to live a filled life! That night I started to pray to him and think of ways I could work on who I was and where I was. I started reading the bible and looking at myself in a whole new light. A few months later I got the opportunity to be a member of an amazing metal band called August Burns Red, which I have been a member of for more than 4 and 1/2 years! I tour the world and consistently build my life with Christ as my cornerstone. Recently God has put on my heart to reach out to other people and to tell them of God’s love for us! It is an honor for me to do so, thus I decided to start YourLife Ministries. I appreciate your time and reading my testimony. Trenton, New Jersey metalcore mainstays BEYOND DISHONOR have released a music video for their first single, entitled ‘Heisenberg’, today via their official YouTube channel. Any fan of the hit television drama ‘Breaking Bad’ will immediately recognize that ‘Heisenberg’ is a tribute to the popular show— complete with yellow meth lab suits, greasy cigar-smoking drug kingpins, shady factory laboratories galore and more. ‘Heisenberg’ is cut from the band’s upcoming EP Generations, set to drop in June 2013.

 

“It’s an obvious homage to one of our favorite pieces of entertainment, but it is wrapped around a stronger metaphor – just as Walt perfects the formula against his better judgement, so too are we forced to find and perfect the formula for notice and respect in this tumultuous industry and genre,” states lead vocalist Reese Dunlap. “That theme is referenced throughout the song, and goes one step further in the video, where we are, in a sense, a victim of this formulaic control. It is only when we have ‘perfected the formula’ that we can finally escape mediocrity.”

 

Breaking free of the norm is exactly what BEYOND DISHONOR plans to do with their new EP Generations, which boasts production credits from acclaimed producer Andreas Magnusson, known for his work with The Black Dahlia MurderImpending DoomThis or The Apocalypse and more. In the state of New Jersey and even nationally, BEYOND DISHONOR asserts one of the strongest DIY success stories in a very challenging genre. The band churns out a staggering 70+ self-funded shows a year— without any label, booking agency, or management assistance. BEYOND DISHONOR is pushing 5,000+ fans on their official Facebook page and 10,000+ on Twitter— essentially commanding the attention of East coast metal fans with each and every post. This past February, BEYOND DISHONOR won the Trenton, NJ date of the Sumerian Records “Headband for the Highway” competition, which was a touring “battle of the bands”-style performance competition in which bands from each market were chosen to perform on a large summer festival date. As the winner, the band was selected to perform on a local date of the All Stars Tour (this year featuring Every Time I DieChelsea GrinVeil of Maya and more). Specifics regarding this performance are set to be announced soon.

 

BEYOND DISHONOR will head out on a 13-date east coast trek beginning April 12th. Several dates include performances with internationally-recognized artists such as Miss May I, Whitechapel, Texas in July and more, plus a stop at the annual Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, PA. AUGUST BURNS RED heading to studio to record fifth album

ollowing two monstrous years that saw AUGUST BURNS RED release multiple albums – 2011’s Leveler and 2012’s holiday album, Sleddin’ Hill – headline tours of North and South America, Europe, Japan, Australia and more, the Manheim, PA-based quintet is back at it. Beginning next week the band will hit the studio to start recording their fifth full-length album (holiday releases notwithstanding), due out later this year.

“2012 turned out to be quite intense for us from a touring standpoint,” says guitarist JB Brubaker. “We did more traveling than we had ever previously done in our career and after three straight months on the road to end the year I think we were all ready to come home and shift into writing/recording mode. Now that the writing is complete we are all itching to get started with the actual tracking.”

Eschewing the trend towards big-name producers, ABR has opted to keep in the family for the forthcoming effort, reteaming with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio – the same hometown studio where the band recorded last year’s fan-favorite holiday album, Sleddin’ Hill. The forthcoming album promises to be AUGUST BURNS RED’s most adventurous and exciting work to date – no small feat for a band that has constantly reinvigorated the genre over the course of its career.

“This new record will push the boundaries of our genre more than we ever have before,” Brubaker continues excitedly. “We set out to write a record where every song stands out from the last. There is a lot of ground covered here and a ton of meat to this album. It’s full of odd metered rhythms and breakdowns, unexpected twists and turns, and some of our most technical riffing to date. Each of us have parts that make our heads spin and we have had to practice like crazy to get some of this stuff together. I know we always say this, but this will be our most ambitious album yet.”

MY HEART TO FEAR Release Lyric Video for “Dear Mr. White”

Pennsylvania metalers MY HEART TO FEAR are set to release their Solid State Records debut, Lost Between Brilliance and Insanity, December 4th. Through a partnership with Hot Topic, physical copies of the release will be exclusively found in any of the chain’s more than 600 stores, while the digital release will hit all traditional digital outlets.

Building anticipation for the EP, the band has released a lyric video for “Dear Mr. White,” a track that represents the band’s approach on Lost Between… – technical riffs, swaggering vocals and sky-high choruses, elements that helped MY HEART TO FEAR build its fervent fanbase over several self-released efforts.

Unique in their home country of Japan, CROSSFAITH combine metalcore, hardcore, samples and electronica to create groundbreaking music that transcends genres. “Writing metal versions of Christmas songs has always been a challenge for me because the songs are driven by simple vocal melodies with the only variety in the lyrics. We decided to take the songs and go the instrumental route – the main melodies are there, but this record has a lot more to it then that,” he adds. “The songs have sections of music that flow in and out of the classic melodies we’ve all come to recognize. There is a lot of substance in these songs- more than you’d find in your typical cover.”

On whether Sleddin’ Hill is destined to become a novelty album or a key part of the band’s discography, Brubaker has the final word: “To some, the concept of a metal Christmas album may come off as silly and a waste of time, but I think this record has plenty of original ABR substance to interest even the biggest Scrooges out there.”

AUGUST BURNS RED Fall Headlining Tour: Pittsburgh 9/10 and 11

After spending much of the past several months headlining tours of Europe, Japan and Australia – with stops in New Zealand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore along the way – globe-trotting metal titans AUGUST BURNS RED are excited to announce their return to their native continent with a Fall North American headlining tour. The tour marks the band’s first dates in the States since kicking off the year with a successful US headliner which packed in record crowds for the band, resulting in sold-out venues in nearly every market.

Fresh off a run of European festival and headlining dates, the band will launch their five-week, 30-city North American tour on August 31st with support from THE COLOR MORALE, labelmates THE OVERSEER and a yet-to-be-named special guest, before heading back to Europe where they’ll hit 12 countries in four weeks (ABR hit Pittsburgh’s Altar Bar 9/10 and 9/11).

Riot Fest and Carnival Chicago in September Promises Big Acts

After a landmark year in 2011, the eighth annual RIOT FEST–the music festival which celebrates rock, indie, punk and underground artists from every era–is expanding for the first-time ever into an outdoor music event and carnival in 2012. The RIOT FEST & CARNIVAL will feature a wide mix of artists ranging from Gaslight Anthem, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Built To Spill, AWOLNATION, Gogol Bordello, Frank Turner, Coheed and Cambria, Less Than Jake and many more.
