Volbeat Seals The Deal and Boogies with Killswitch Engage in Pittsburgh

The States have been fortunate as of late, having Danish “metalbilly” band Volbeat tour here with some stalwart bands.  Last time around it was Anthrax and Crobot and the current tour is with Killswitch Engage and Black Wizard.  Volbeat’s current line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Rob Caggiano, drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen and they have a rep for bringing the goods.  Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie was released worldwide on June 3 and their sixth record is one of their strongest starting off with singles, “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” and “For Evigt” (Forever) or the English version”The Bliss”.  Pittsburgh’s show at Stage AE was exceptional and there was a great blend of old and new material to entertain fans (see set below). Poulsen was a commanding presence and the acquisition of Anthrax’s Caggiano is certainly the coup of the band’s history.  The new record picks up where  Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies left off and their performance of the new tunes was spot on.

Metalcore act Killswitch Engage returned to Pittsburgh as well after a few years of absence again with lead singer Jesse Leach in tow.  No offense to Howard Jones (in between singer of KSE), but Leach’s return to the fold has made them more entertaining than ever.  Due to the intense heat, the stage antics of Adam Jonathan Dutkiewicz were a bit more subdued than usual, but the intensity was amped to replace the jumping around.  KSE is firing on all cylinders right now and seems to be even more back in the groove than ever before, making them a band to truly watch rise in popularity (if that’s possible).

Vancouver’s Black Wizard opened and brought their brand of doom-stoner metal to the masses.  These guys are definitely onto something as they have a great sound, look, and cool throwback chops.  You can check them out here http://www.blackwizard.org/.

NO BRAGGING RIGHTS DEBUTS NEW MUSIC VIDEO

Southern California’s NO BRAGGING RIGHTS have debuted a brand new video for their single “Repeater” today.

Directed by veteran director Josh Knoff (As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria), NBR offers their support for our country’s men and women enlisted in the armed forces and the struggles they deal with upon returning home. Lead singer Mike Perez offers his thoughts:

“I’m happy but not just because it’s my favorite track off the album, but because of the message behind it. Also, I’m glad we went the soldier route. I don’t think people understand the emotional strain some of them have to deal with when returning back to normal life.”

“Cycles finds No Bragging Rights at arguably their best work without cutting away the things that would attract you to them in the first place.” – absolutepunk.net

“Mike Perez’s ability to leap from gravelly yell to a soaring harmony is far beyond that of his peers.” – Exclaim.ca

“If you thought No Bragging Rights struck gold with “Illuminator,” just wait until you hear “Cycles.” – Outburn Magazine

“Be sure to check out Cycles, one of the most heart-filled releases of 2012.” – megustareviews.com

GLAMOUR OF THE KILL ISSUE STUDIO UPDATE

GLAMOUR OF THE KILL has issued a studio update surrounding their new record due out next year.

GLAMOUR OF THE KILL is currently tucked away in Rochester, Michigan with producer Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack) working on their follow up to “The Summing” which came out last year.

“The Summoning” release in the US was followed by a successful run on the INKED MUSIC TOUR featuring ALESANA. With such momentum, the band is set to release some of their most ferocious material to date. Such accolades include:

“Glamour Of The Kill are one of the UK’s brightest young hopes.” – Kerrang!

“The UK has a new crossover phenomenon in the making.” – Metal Hammer

“Glamour Of The Kill have been thrown in at the deep end and seem to be loving the water!” – Big Cheese

GLAMOUR OF THE KILL now have their sights set on the world beyond their native England, with the strength of their homeland fanbase securely supporting them. British invasions from the Beatles to Oasis to Maiden have come in waves and GOTK are ready to seize their opportunity.

“We started a band because this is what we love to do,” adds frontman Richmond. “You get to do what you love and have thousands of other people enjoy it with you. I couldn’t ask for anything more. As long as we love what we are doing, we are going to take it as far as we can.”

The Paramedic Debut Album “Smoke & Mirrors” Out Now

The Paramedic are excited to release their Bullet Tooth debut “Smoke & Mirrors” TODAY! The metalcore album is lighting the internet on fire with polarizing talk from fans and is currently sitting at #8 on the iTunes Metal Chart. Intensity, emotion and raw power are three ways to describe Dayton, OH’s The Paramedic. But to pigeon hole the band with just three words would simply be an injustice to this group. Formed in late 2010 by friends Jake Nolan (Guitar), Travis Adkins (Bass), Tony Hovater (Drums), Sean Salasny (Guitar) and Mike Luciano (Lead Vocals); The Paramedic is poised to spearhead the next generation of dynamic metalcore bands, thanks in part to Luciano’s diverse R&B background. The band delivers a unique mix blending the insanity of Asking Alexandria, the electro-sensibilities of Attack Attack, and the soulfulness of Jonny Craig.

Living the dream is a philosophy that Mike Luciano and the guys thrive to live out on a daily basis and will have nothing stand in their way. Against his parents’ wishes, Luciano dropped out of college to pursue his dream of making it in the world of music. This intense internal struggle has made Luciano’s lyrics a personal one-of-a-kind statement that range from raising awareness towards rape to standing up for what you believe in. Judging by the nearly 300,000 views of their cover of Lil’ Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot” on YouTube and their 50,000 fans on Facebook, all of the hard work and life altering decisions have been worth it.

In early 2012, the bands’ dream finally came together when New Jersey based record label, Bullet Tooth, signed The Paramedic to a deal. Joining other acts such as Affiance, Serianna, Death Ray Vision and more, the band is sure to reach new audiences that they only ever dreamed about. “It’s been our dream to not only be signed to a label, but also to a label that we know and trust and with Bullet Tooth, we know we are getting just that” said vocalist Mike Luciano.

The band is preparing for bigger tour dates (to be announced soon!) and Luciano goes on to say “We could have never done this without the help of a reputable label and now that we have the backing of an amazing label, we plan on making nothing but the best for our fans. We cannot wait to see what the future holds”.

Motionless In White’s new single “If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It”

Motionless In White’s new single “If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It” (feat. Brandan Schieppati) is now available for digital download on iTunes.

The Pennsylvanian metal outfit deliver a brand new lyric video for the single, which the band premiered earlier today. Just in time for halloween, the video offers a combination of clips from horror movies, spliced with live footage from Motionless In White’s sold out London, UK show last month. “If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It” is featured on their highly-anticipated new album Infamous, set to release November 13th.
Get more information about the album at:
MotionlessInWhite.net/Infamous

“If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It” was written about my disgust for people in the world who have developed this sense of entitlement that they think gives them the right to dictate standards others need to live by. I’m more specifically talking about the beauty standard, ” Lead singer, Chris Motionless explains. “I asked my hero Brandan Schiepatti from Bleeding Through to scream along with me on this song. He and his lyrics have always been what I’ve looked to for guidance and influence when I felt lost, so I am hoping to do the same for others out there. This song means more to me than anyone can understand. I’m coming for you mother fuckers.” Read more about “If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It”

Gaining a reputation for constantly challenging the concept of “playing it safe”, Motionless In White are unafraid to make music as intense as it is intricate. Having built upward from the success of their debut album Creatures, which has sold over 50,000 copies, the band’s ability to interweave powerful lyrics and strong musicianship with striking imagery has captivated both fans and media around the globe.

To follow-up their sold out UK headline tour, the band are gearing up for their first North American headliner this November / December, and will return overseas on a UK run with Asking Alexandria in early 2013.

Rockstar Mayhem Festival Teaser…A Cleveland Pictorial! Coming to Pittsburgh 7/28!

Get ready for “The Hardest Tour On Earth” and to be blown away. The amount of talent at this year’s Mayhem is unprecedented. The ear crushing and body bruising of hearing Motorhead, Slayer, and Slipknot back to back to back is so intense that it will leave your metal soul not only elated but drained from the sheer experience of it all. Pittsburgh Music Magazine had a chance to speak with many of the performers; Mayhem has great access for all fans including many signings from the likes of Kerry King and Slipknot. Check out the merchandise booths too. Metal Blade Records has some great stuff along with a free sampler CD, Sumerian Records as well. Also some great deals at many of the bands booths on autographed items (We thought the new Anthrax CD signed by the entire band for $10 a steal!). We have some interviews, that will be posted shortly, with Whitechapel, The Devil Wears Prada, and As I Lay Dying. Get ready to rock out with your black and gold out Saturday Pittsburgh! So, to whet your appetites we have included some pix from the Cleveland show to get your metal hearts pumped

Dirtfedd, As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Anthrax, I The Breather, Jagermeister Girls, Crowd Shots, Whitechapel, Motorhead, Slayer, and Slipknot
