SPURGE Release True to Life, Covid Informed Official Music Video for “57”

Atlanta, GA based, Alternative Rock band SPURGE has released the official music video for “57,” off of their newest EP, Crown. Produced and directed by Daniel Medina, “57” was inspired by the internationally experienced isolation during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and features stylized imagery of the individual band members’ lives as they continue through an uncertain “new normal.”

“’57’ is a song about whether or not we have any control over our fate. Inspired by COVID keeping the band stuck in their homes for about a year, it comes from a feeling of slowly losing our grips and becoming somewhat numb. For about 6 months prior to writing the song, our bassist (Jen Hodges) kept seeing the number 57 everywhere. Initially, freaked out by the repetition, she thought it was an omen of bad things to come; ultimately, she decided to write a song about it in order to work out her apparent superstitions and flip her mind into viewing it as a good omen.” – SPURGE

2. Neumatic Weiner Tube

The band’s most recent EP, Crown, was mixed by Dom Gryzbon and includes solos by Phil VastaNick LandtCharles Von Kanel and Greg Hendler. An album release party is being organized for a Fall 2021 date in Atlanta, GA.

Spurge started in Nashville 2013 when Jen (bass) started writing instrumental music for her own amusement. She felt she had found her voice sonically during the creation of “The Untitled EP” and decided to play a few local live shows. She recruited the drummer in her previous band, a local metal guitarist and a jazz college student. They were received warmly in the scene. In 2015 Jen got a promotion and moved to Atlanta. She had to rebuild the band. She kept the same formula. Gospel drummer, metal guitarist, and jazz guitarist, This current iteration has played with Thank You Scientist, and Tony McAlpine. When COVID hit, the group recorded their latest, Crown. They are planning a secret show this fall in Atlanta to celebrate the release of Crown. They are also releasing a video for the EP’s first single, “57,” this fall. The current line up is Jen on bass (Berklee grad, gigging musician.) Charles on guitar (gigging musician, gear head and tech wizard.) Marlon on drums (musical family, marching band, gospel, R&B.) Ben on lead guitar (gigging musician, shreddy Krueger.)

“High energy and invincible from the outset, self-proclaimed purveyors of ‘rock from a galaxy faraway’, A Crime Called… bring us nine tumultuous tunes. Big keys? Check. Banging drums? Yep. A lead singer not afraid to let his lungs rip and ballsy backing vocals? Absolutely! What’s not to like? Each song is an indefatigable injection of rock so polished it could be classed as a diamond. A New Path is ambitious. Its tracks are anthemic. And just one listen will power you up to face the world for another day.” – JO WRIGHT – Devolution Magazine

Italy based, alternative rock quartet A CRIME CALLED has released the official music video for “Drown,” off of their newly released album, A New Path.

“’Drown’ is the result of an intercontinental travel; tthe video is shot in a former asylum, and the images give a feeling of abandonment and claustrophobia, which works against the meaning of the song. The concept is to resist, to try not to drown, maybe finding someone who is a salvation and a hope for you.” – A CRIME CALLED

“Life is an ocean current of situations, people, sensations. Navigation, solitary as it may be, has its difficult moments which lead us to give up and desist. The destination is often only a necessary excuse to keep on traveling, to not die inside. Living is the only means we were bestowed to avoid being drowned by the current”. – Andrea Verdi (front-man)

HADEES MARKET Commemorates Historic Heartbreak of 2020 Holiday Season with “(Christmas) Through the Glass”

HadeesMarket Christmas 1500x1500
Rosedale, WA based Alternative Rock band HADEES MARKET has released their tragically inspired single, “(Christmas) Through the Glass.” Paired with a haunting visualizer that reflects the current austerity of many American families’ Christmas experience of isolation this year, both visually and lyrically memorializing the agonizing desolation of many reflecting on the traditional significance of the Holiday season, digital sales of “(Christmas) Through the Glass” benefitting COVID Relief Efforts.

“A mother brings a care package across town to her adult daughter who is (with her fiance and two dogs) at home on quarantine. Standing outside, the mom can see the tears streaming down her baby’s cheeks. Inside, the daughter looks out and sees tears on her mama’s face as well. This is Christmas Through the Glass.

You may be separated from someone you love this Christmas, and that separation may be taking a toll on you both. You may be missing each other for months. And here come the holidays, when what you long for most is to be together with family and friends. Whether the glass you face is in a window, or a door, or on a computer or a phone, the warm hug you wish for is…. alas, still a ways away.

Christmas Through the Glass is a sad song. My hope is that it reminds us what we have, what we share, and where we agree. I hope it brings you and your family and friends (and all of us) a little bit closer together.” – GREG WILLIAMSON

HadeesMarket Band 1500x1000

Hadees Market is a musical manifestation of me, Greg Williamson. I’ve been exceedingly fortunate to make recorded music here in the US Pacific Northwest with my brother and a few best friends since 1980. I was in a couple different DIY/indie-punk/alternative bands through the ‘80s, and in a regularly gigging post-punk band in the first half of the ‘90s as a drummer. About 1995 I started taking songwriting more seriously, and now I mostly write on guitar.

In 2003, I put out my first six-song EP as Hadees Market, and asked my musician friends to join me on different tracks. Only seventeen years later, in 2020, I’m putting out my latest EP, entitled “To the Island, From the Lake.” The new EP is me with the full band sound; I also perform as a singer-songwriter with just me and a guitar.

The name of the band comes from the name of my grandparents’ grocery store in Olympia, WA in Mud Bay in the 1940’s. My grandmother was “Hazel” and my grandfather “Ira Dee,” so they called the place Hadees Market.
People used to come in and ask my grandpa if he was Mr. Hadees. He always said “yes.”

The Holy Veins Promo 3

The Holy Veins is a musical movement for a generation that wants to feel something new.

Equal parts Muse and Charlie Puth, between Daft Punk and Queen, The Holy Veins joins the ranks of Maroon 5’s electric-charged early releases and Harry Styles’ vulnerable retro charm, creating exciting emotional music that embraces a new breed of rock.

Houston-native Cason Day formed The Holy Veins officially in March 2020, an amalgamation of simmering songs and lyrics steeped in years of collaborating with other local New York musicians and bands. As he began to build a stylistic library through his work on stage and in the studio, the songs became a collection of something bigger, and Lost My Mind began to take shape.

The Holy Veins defies the limits of genre and uses raw emotion to create a new sound influenced by the best music of the last 40 years. Their debut EP Lost My Mind is a journey with addiction, religion, and love or lust, explored through a lens of alternative rock, pop, and electronic funk, to create something new for a generation coming-of-age that won’t settle for less.

EMMA GARELL Releases New Single, “I Wanna See Blood”!

 I Wanna See Blood Cover

Richmond, VA based rock artist EMMA GARELL has released her newest single, “I Wanna See Blood.” Produced by Todd Wright of Halfking Studio in Northern, VA, “I Wanna See Blood” is available to download / stream via The Label Group / INgrooves.

Player

“I Wanna See Blood is a song about love gone wrong, your basic break up song that ends in a bloody mess. Sometimes love lost just leaves you angry…not sad…not lonely…just bloody angry. Break up songs come in a variety of styles, but this is my anger and my response to a broken heart, I hope people can relate. My two previous songs (Destination Anaheim and unreleased Mojo Man ) were more about the rock world in general. It wasn’t until I started working with Todd Wright that I found a way to express my inner feelings through my music. ‘I Wanna See Blood’ is the first of the songs that we wrote together that delve into my heart and soul. ” – Emma Garell

“I Wanna See Blood is a dancey jam, alternative-rock track about heartbreak and revenge. For fans of Billie Eilish and Mohawks.” – Dylan Lawson (guitarist for Emma Garell)

Emma Garell grew up using her singing voice to speak for her. She lulls the listener into a sense of whispered magic, then out of nowhere, she belts with the power of the greats. Friends have called her Princess of Darkness and Roberta Plant…the truth lies somewhere in between as she takes these influences and finds her own sound. Having a wide range of vocal gifts, you won’t be surprised to hear a wide array of musical styling, all within the power of a haunting voice.

If Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs was a bar fly in a gritty bar, singing on a Saturday night, you might come close to Emma Garell. One could see her paying homage to the song “Black Velvet” in leather and then fist-pumping the crowd to her Black Sabbath roots. The woman has a smooth growl with a punk’tude and

With the release of her debut single early 2019, “Destination Anaheim,” Emma Garell is stepping into the rock spotlight with the strength and confidence of her role models and a freshly honed vocal style. WAKE UP HATE Releases Official Music Video for “Deep Sleep”

Orlando, FL based Alternative Rock Band WAKE UP HATE has released the official music video for the title track off of their debut EP, Deep Sleep.
“We started Wake Up Hate set on creating something unique and fresh for hard rock fans to listen to. We aim to push the boundaries of rock to new limits and break the monotony of rock bands trying to do what’s already been done before. 2019 will be flooded with new music. We’re just getting started.” – Jake Adkins (Vocals)

player 2

“If you like modern metal rocks with a radio-friendly sound, Wake Up Hate is for you. I hear a lot of similarities to the almighty Linkin Park. Mind you, their not ripping off the aforementioned masters of angsty metal, but they manage to challenge a lot of the same emotions and feelings throughout this EP. There’s a little bit of pop edge here and there to drop everything down a bit, only to build it back up to a frenzy with a heavy rock beat. Lyrically, Wake Up Hate seems to be more mature than many of the bands out there now and musically they’re very tight and synced on this outing. They have a very mature sound for a debut release. The band holds a lot of promise for the future with great tracks like ‘The Cycle”,’ ‘Deep Sleep.’ and ‘Love Me Like A Hurricane.’ Rock radio should take notice of these guys. Don’t be surprised if you hear these songs on your local rock station. Wake Up Hate is primed for the majors.” – XS Rock

Despite their name, ICON FOR HIRE aren’t indebted to anyone but their fans. Since forming in 2007, the duo—singer Ariel Bloomer and guitarist Shawn Jump—have amassed a legion of followers who have connected with not only the band’s genre-bending sound, but also their honesty. That soul-baring spirit and realism is at the heart of everything Icon For Hire do, and it’s front and center on their latest Billboard-charting release, YOU CAN’T KILL US

Produced by Mike Green (Gwen Stefani, All Time Low) and funded by fans through Kickstarter on a campaign that raised $127, 200—making it one of the year’s highest-raising music campaigns—the self-released album marks a brand-new chapter for the band.

Blending hard rock, hip-hop, electronica and pop into an anthemic swirl of both melody and muscle, You Can’t Kill Us isn’t only a modern sounding record—it’s awash in lyrical themes that tap into the times as well. Addiction, depression and self-worth are all topics Ariel addresses and these themes reverberate loudly in today’s tumultuous, judgment-first culture.

After all, having survived the record label system and reemerged stronger than ever, Icon For Hire are living proof that you can take control of your life—and that’s perhaps the greatest success anyone can hope to accomplish.

Canadian Alternative Rock Band AUTOPILOT has released the official music video for their single, “Undisguised.” Directed by Kevin Van Witt, “Undisguised” is off of the band’s latest album, Afterglow.

“We don’t need these walls between us!” lyrics in “Undisguised” from Autopilot, a song that bridges the feelings of the times with modern rock vibes. It’s a song that questions why do we put up walls when love is what we really want.

Over the last few years, Canadian alternative rock band Autopilot has become a staple in the Saskatoon indie music scene. Known for their thoughtful lyrics, powerful hooks, dynamic stage show, and obsessive hard work, they somehow seem to effortlessly walk the line between passionate art and massive appeal. Over the course of 3 full-length records, and one EP, they’ve become road warriors, touring relentlessly across Canada and the US. They’ve been praised for their tireless work ethic by publications like Canadian Musician Magazine, who called them “quite possibly one of the hardest working bands in the country.”

Autopilot’s highly anticipated new record Afterglow, their most impressive and accessible record to date, produced by legendary Saskatchewan producer, S.J. Kardash, and backed by their most ambitious marketing campaign yet, finds the band reaching for bigger sounds, bigger ideas, and much bigger audiences. The release of their new single “Undisguised” following the success of preceding singles “Living Dead” and “Weightless”, is proof positive of this growing momentum.

Marlon Harder, the driving creative force behind Autopilot, has a knack for finding beauty in simple moments, and hope in the challenges life tends to bring. Inspired by the early writing of Modest Mouse, he seemed to know very quickly what he wanted to do in life. After the release and College radio buzz of their first record Now It’s Time You Know What We’re Losing For, unexpected illness struck, effectively putting the band on the back burner for the foreseeable future. But he never quit writing. Health improved, lineups changed, and in 2013 they teamed up with S.J. Kardash for the release of Diamond Rough, a sophomore full-length forged in the fires of struggle, faith, and growing maturity. The record widely expanded their media exposure across North America; in print, online, commercial rock radio, CBC, podcasts, and through licensing placement on major US television networks.

Their 2015 release, Desert Dreams, reunited the band with Kardash, and represented a significant leap forward in both the ever expanding sound, and rapidly growing fan base the band had built strongly upon with 2013’s Diamond Rough. Along with debuting on Earshot’s Top 50 chart, Desert Dreams received heavy rotation on The Verge, Sirius XM’s Iceberg Radio, and garnered the attention of New York’s prestigious CMJ; while securing the band showcases at Toronto’s CMW and Indie Week festivals, AYE Fest in Cincinnati, Fairfield Revival Festival in Minnesota, and opening doors to tour extensively in the United States.

Autopilot has always been a dedicated touring band. In support of Diamond Rough, Desert Dreams, and the 2017 release of the single “Hurricane” / “Crooked Lines“, the band spent countless months on the road touring across Canada and the United States. These tours have included stops at Jersey Shore Festival, Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and a mainstage performance at Mesa Music Festival in Arizona supporting hard rock legends P.O.D. October 2018 marked the release of Afterglow, which chartered in the top 200 on the NACC North American College Charts as well as specialty radio in the US.

The future is truly wide open for Autopilot. Everything they’ve learned is on the table for 2019 while they continue to promote the release of Afterglow. They are casting their net wider, and going all in. Never content to sit still or play it safe, they’ve crafted a remarkable live show, and plan on spending as much time over the next year as possible, getting the new songs in front of as many new fans as they possibly can.

Carry The Crown are bringing their energy driven version of modern alt rock to the forefront of the music scene across the UK. Known for their thrilling stage performances, they bring their catchy and anthemic sounds and mix them with a stage show that the crowds love.

With an exciting commercial image, the boys both look and sound the part as a major band for the future. This, mixed with exposure from the BBC Introducing platform, has led to the band being featured by Huw Stephens on his Radio 1 show.

After the success of their first EP they are back with a matured sound that perfectly brings together the melodic vocals of bands like You Me At Six and smashes them together with the bouncy guitar work of Don Broco.

The band are driven beyond belief and have achieved more in their first year than even they could have expected. After meeting in Lincoln one night and talking about their love of live music the idea for Carry The Crown was born. Since that date the fan base and support has exploded and fans are crying out for more of what CTC are creating.

BORN CROOKED Release New Single, “Sugar”

Sugar

Nashville, TN based Alternative Rock Band BORN CROOKED has released their new single, “Sugar,” off of their upcoming EP, Come On With It.

Player

“Raw, true emotions always make a song that people can relate to. ‘Sugar’ came from Hunter finding someone who showed him what love really is and how he kept craving it. ‘Sugar’ was written while we were out on the road touring and supporting incredible artists like Kansas, Daughtry, The Record Puddle of Mud, Saving Able, to name a few. Company. Brian Craddock and Josh Paul of CO:OP Song Production helped us to bring this song to life. It is easily one of our favorite songs we have written. It just grabs you right out of the gate! ‘Sugar’ is the first single off our new EP ‘Come On With It’ recorded at The Cat Room Recording Studio and Rivergate Studios in our home town of Nashville, TN.” – BORN CROOKED

Sometimes it takes just two to rock the world.
Need proof? Listen to Born Crooked — and crank it up.

You’ve just received a potent, sonic 1-2 punch from brother-sister band, Born Crooked. The Duo pushes the boundaries of an Alternative rock sound, while keeping it personal and soulful in their writing and live show.

“Hunter’s vocals are confident, electrifying and soulful, just like his guitar playing. He cranks out fuzzy, bluesy riffs with the best of them. ARE is a thunderous beauty that lays down the boom whenever she sits at a kit.” As described by The Odyssey Magazine, captures a hint of the intensity and energy these siblings pour out into their music.

Much of this intensity stems from their love for their brother Christian, who passed away in 2013 after a lifelong battle with scoliosis, epilepsy and other painful physical disabilities. “When we’re in the green room or on the side of the stage, getting ready to walk on, we always think of him,” Hunter says. “What we do is as much for him as it is for us.”

Hunter and ARE witnessed Christian recovering from spinal surgery… “He couldn’t have any pain medication, due to allergies, and he was in immense discomfort to say the least. Christians favorite band was Led Zeppelin. Our mother started playing a DVD of Led Zeppelin Live for him. ARE and I watched as his tears dried and he was comforted by the music… it took away his pain. This moment lit a fire in us and showed us the impact music can have.”

Born Crooked’s sound is infused with a passion that’s impossible to ignore. The brother-sister Duo is not afraid to push boundaries, break the rules and incorporate new elements into their music. That passion can be heard in their latest project with Brian Craddock and Josh Paul of CO:OP Song Production. Whether it be the appetite of desire on “Sugar”, stadium chants on “May the Best Man Win”, or the torture of love on “Going Crazy” the music of Born Crooked cannot be denied.

Add to this their sibling synchronicity, their ability to feed on and amplify each other’s intensity. They’ve felt this connection from the moment they played their first local gigs through appearances abroad on several US and European tours, Born Crooked is about their bond with each other and, always, with Christian.

Born Crooked always take the stage as a two piece, a family. The duo also invite out friends to sit in on Bass and Keys during their set, allowing Hunter & ARE to flex other musical muscles to make for an impactful night of music.

They continue to honor him through charity performances at rehabilitation centers, hospitals and, Hunter notes, “anyplace where people can’t get out and hear music. We take it to them because we saw the healing effect that music had on Christian. We want to connect with everyone we can.”
And that includes their ever-widening fan base. “It’s very important for us to give audiences something positive that they’ll remember forever, something that they can look back and say, ‘That was a great night.’”

Countless great nights await all who experience Born Crooked. Their day begins now.

Echo 2 Locate Release Official Music Video for “High”

E2L Promo Photo JPEG

Alternative Rock Band ECHO 2 LOCATE has released the official music video for their single, “High.”

Player

“Although I usually leave lyrics unexplained in an effort to keep them open to interpretation, I do provide a songs foundational meaning in order to properly visualize it through video. When it comes to our new single ‘HIGH,’ I wanted us to write something that was addictive to listen to and to create a visualization to represent what it’s like for some people, like myself, to experience manic tendencies. The song talks about how addictive and stimulating the feeling of mania can be. It also speaks about the constant battle in one’s mind that wants to engage in manic tendencies while the other side of you understands what typically comes after those manic tendencies dissipate. ( ‘Is it really so bad the manic mind that I’ve had , if it ever goes bad’) The stimulating lights throughout the video represent how fast thought processes can become when one is manic. Sometimes one can completely ignore the consequences of their own reality when being manic to the point that they may not even realize a situation they are in or the type of self destructive people they are around. (‘I don’t care about my memories, I just wanna feel so high’) This is why all of the extras are masked in the video and they can be seen almost like they are cheering me on throughout this manic episode. The importance of everybody laying down at the end is actually crucial to the representation of ‘High’ as it represents the exhaustion after mania and how mania can never last forever.(‘I don’t need the ground beneath my feet, cause I just wanna feel so high’) However, just because that’s the meaning we gave the song and the video, doesn’t mean that’s what it will be for you. That’s why we kept it simple. Our job is to create music for our fans to connect to in their own way and to make them feel or think in way that they haven’t before.” – Echo 2 Locate

Anarbor Tour (@Smiling Moose Pittsburgh) 2017: Review and Photos!

words and pix: Abigail McNatt
The local music scene is highly underrated. There are so many different kinds of bands that fall in this scene and are so talented. If I could tell anyone in this city who loves music anything, it would be to attend small shows and listen to bands and artists that don’t have a lot of likes or followers or listens.
One of those bands whose shows I attend quite often (and shoot all the time) is Vertigo. They are a local pop/rock band who play a ton of local shows. They were first on stage at the Smiling Moose on this cold Saturday evening in Pittsburgh. They are a fun band to shoot because you can tell they love what they’re doing and they get the crowd involved as well. I saw a good amount of people in front of the stage bobbing their heads to the groovy music. Overall, their set was very fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend readers to check them out in the link above.
Next on stage was Baltimore pop/rock band, Skyward Story. The previously named band, 3PM, put on a super fun set. Girls went wild for them. Some came from far and wide just to see them play. They interacted well with their crowd and performed many originals but also did Ed Sheeran‘s “Castle on the Hill”. Overall their set was very fun and I enjoyed every second of it. If boy bands are your thing, go check them out!
Going along with the local band theme, next up was pop/punk band from Pittsburgh, Milly. They were pretty cool. Being in the smaller music scene, I was surprised I hadn’t heard of them before. I thought they were pretty good! The crowd was enjoyed it as well it seemed. So if you’re into the local music scene, go check them out in the link above!
The next band, who was also the band touring with Anarbor, was Sundressed. They describe themselves as “emotive punk”. They surprised me because I expected more a more pop/rock sound considering the bands that played prior to them. But they were pretty good. They seemed really into their performance and got the crowd pumped up. So if you’re into the more “emotive punk” type music, go look them up!
Last but not least, the band we were all waiting for… Anarbor. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re considered alternative rock and they’re amazing. They get super into it and the fans were all over the place. They were dancing, singing along, and just enjoying every second they were there. The band had great interaction and put on a wonderful, upbeat performance. So if you haven’t heard of them, go look them up. I provided links to each band above!
Overall, it was a great night and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Some of the photos are showcased below and the rest are featured here.

RADKEY Announce Fall Headlining Tour (12/7@Brillobox Pittsburgh) – New Album “Delicious Rock Noise” Out November 11th

With less than a month until the release of their new album, Delicious Rock Noise, RADKEY have announced a US headlining tour for the Fall. Joining the band on these dates are fellow Another Century labelmates The Fame Riot. The upcoming trek kicks off in Colorado Springs, CO on November 11th – which coincides with the release date of the new record. A complete list of dates for the tour can be found at the end of this press release.

RADKEY is also featured in the next issue of Alternative Press, as part of the publication’s “AP Recommends” section. Hear what the leading voice in alternative rock music has to say about the band’s upcoming record:

“Now entering their early twenties, their new record, Delicious Rock Noise, sounds far more mature than their ages would belie. Vocalist/guitarist Dee Radke has a deep and energetic baritone that glides over riffs that’ll have you jumping up and down. His brothers Isaiah and Solomon lay down a tremendously groovy rhythm section, rounding out a powerhouse that sounds so much fuller than just three brothers from Missouri.”

RADKEY – “Dark Black Makeup” (Official Music Video)
Delicious Rock Noise is available for pre-order via CM Distro (which offers multiple bundle options) and various other music retailers. All digital pre-orders come with an Instant Grat download of the track “Dark Black Makeup”.  A complete list of pre-order options can be found below.

“Delicious Rock Noise is the album we’ve always dreamt of making. Since we were old enough to even think about stuff I think. It was really important to make an album the way we believe rock records should be made, and that’s pretty much writing anything you feel like writing and then recording it because you feel that it rocks exactly the way that you needed it too. Delicious Rock Noise is everything that we are, and we feel so lucky to have been able to make it just the way we wanted to.”

WEATHERS — ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR WITH SAINT MOTEL + SINGLE “HAPPY PILLS” #1 ADDED TO ALT RADIO

Los Angeles-based band, Weathers, announce they will be joining indie-pop band, Saint Motel, on their North American tour this fall.  The tour kicks off in San Diego, and will be making stops in a number of major cities including Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston.  Prior to the tour, Weathers will also be performing at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.  Tickets go are on sale now.  See full list of tour dates below.

Click HERE to purchase tickets.

Additionally, Weathers’ latest single “Happy Pills” is No. 1 Added at Alternative Radio. This marks the highest total adds so far this decade for a brand new artist at the alternative format.  “Happy Pills” was first introduced via an exclusive Neon Gold premiere (Click HERE). The darkly tinged, guitar-driven alt-rock song is about taking physical or metaphysical “Happy Pills” for a an easy fix, which stems from the idea that our culture has become too quick to prescribe pills to settle whatever ailments people of all ages may have, but these prescriptions may not actually be solving anyone’s problems. “Happy Pills” is now available at all digital retail providers.

Click HERE to watch lyric video.

“…A hook-heavy, serotonin-surging sync goldmine that already sounds dangerously close to being god damn everywhere this summer.” Neon Gold

The members of Weathers — lead singer/rhythm guitarist Cameron Boyer, guitarist Cameron Olsen, bassist Brennen Bates, and drummer Cole Carson are part of the post-Millennial Generation Z: Social media-saturated kids who grew up in an insecure world and raised by financially stressed parents affected by the economic downturn. It’s no wonder that a skeptical, unsettled mood permeates the songs that the Los Angeles-based band has written since they officially became Weathers in October 2015. Last month, they revealed their first track “I Don’t Wanna Know”.

Weathers has played Webster Hall in New York City and The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and performed at this year’s SXSW.  With the success of “Happy Pills”, Lollapalooza performance, and upcoming tour with Saint Motel, it is clear the alt-rock foursome is paving the way for a very promising future.

Faith No More Reissue Landmark Debut Album, We Care A Lot, on Aug. 19

FAITH NO MORE REISSUE LANDMARK DEBUT ALBUM, WE CARE A LOT, ON AUG. 19 VIA KOOLARROW RECORDS

LONG OUT OF PRINT RELEASE GETS DELUXE TREATMENT WITH NEW MIXES, DEMOS AND LIVE RECORDINGS; PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW

“With We Care A Lot, I always felt like I was part of something new and different than anything else out there at the time. It made me feel privileged to be a part of it. The other guys were so cool, and there was so much camaraderie. And that came across in the music; Bordin’s drums battling it out with Billy’s bass in antagonistic harmony, Roddy’s melodic atmosphere, swallowed up by Jim’s crunchy metal riffs. I found my place somewhere between them all, and when the album was finished, it didn’t sound like anything else.” – Chuck Mosley

SAN FRANCISCO, June 2, 2016 – Faith No More’s landmark debut, We Care A Lot, which was initially released in 1985 and has been out of print for 20 years, sees an Aug. 19 reissue via Bill Gould’s Koolarrow Records.

“This was an album that started as a demo, before any label had any interest in us,” explained Faith No More bass player Bill Gould. “There were a couple of reasons we decided to release this now: first of all, it’s been 20 years since it has been commercially available. Secondly, when cleaning out my basement, I discovered the original master reels, and we all thought that resurrecting this from the original tapes would be a great way to reintroduce We Care A Lot into the world. Lastly, this has been a band effort; we are releasing this in the same way as we recorded it, deciding everything amongst ourselves and getting our hands deep into the nuts and bolts… just like we used to.”

The original 10-song album, remastered by Maor Appelbaum via the original reels Gould eluded to, is enhanced with nine bonus tracks including demo versions (taken from the original 8-track tapes) of “Greed,” “Mark Bowen,” “Arabian Disco” and “Intro,” live versions of “The Jungle” and “New Beginnings” and new mixes, via Matt Wallace, of “We Care A Lot,” “Pills for Breakfast” and “As The Worm Turns.” Liner notes from keyboard player Roddy Bottum and behind-the-scenes photos will be included with the physical release. We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition) is available now for pre-order on CD (http://hyperurl.co/WeCareALotCD), digital (http://geni.us/WeCareALotDigital) and vinyl (http://hyperurl.co/WeCareALotLP).

We Care A Lot arrived in November 1985 via Maximum RocknRoll editor Ruth Schwartz’s Mordam Records. The seminal album, boasting the timeless title track, which can still be heard daily on radio stations worldwide, confounded music fans and critics alike. As Pitchfork said in a 2015 article dubbed “The Misunderstanding of Faith No More,” the unpredictable and hard-to-define band “had radically altered the parameters of popular music years before the fabled alternative revolution.” Rolling Stone called it a “raw punk album” whileSelect Magazine dubbed it “a lustful marriage of mutoid metal and dance floor verve.”

“When strangers ask what Faith No More is I’ve always said, ‘well, it’s kind of an art band…’ I say that mostly to distance us from the hard rock world that we’re often times lumped into. I mean, hard rock, sure, that was part of it, but our roots most definitely and pointedly stem from a specific freakout art time and place in San Francisco, a time that no longer exists. In 1982, the hippies mingled with the punks, the artists hung out with the musicians, the dance people and the punks were one and the Satanists and the sexual pioneers… all part of the same scene,” Bottum explains, colorfully setting the scene for the original inspiration for the band and We Care A Lot. “That weird SF window provided a platform from which we were free to express and cultivate a really uniquely odd sound experience. In Los Angeles, no one really cared much, but SF was always super supportive, encouraging us, directly and not, to get our collective freak on.”

“We felt like it was time to take the next step,” adds drummer Mike Bordin. “We raised as much money as we were able and booked time at Prairie Sun Studios just north of San Francisco. I can’t remember how long it took us to record the album, but not a lot, maybe a few days. The songs were sharp from having played most of them at various shows.  Very stripped down, basic as could be.  The place was on a farm in chicken country (Petaluma). Hard work, but a ton of fun too.”

Plague Vendor & The Garden to play Cattivo on June 16

Epitaph Records label mates Plague Vendor & The Garden will be coming to Pittsburgh to co-headline Cattivo on Thursday, June 16. Kim and the Created will open.

If you caught Plague Vendor on Warped Tour you know what a killer sound and show they have!  Don’t miss this intimate show…

PLAGUE VENDOR

Whitter, CA band Plague Vendor just released their sophomore album BLOODSWEAT on March 25 via Epitaph Records. Bloodsweat solidifies them as the purveyors of dark post-punk in the current scene. The band has taken their unique blend of bluesy dance-fueled rock on the road, heavily road testing every song on their new album before bringing them into the studio. Like their debut, Free to Eat, Plague Vendor aimed to capture each track in as few takes as possible, avoiding many overdubs and embracing the same minimal production they bring to their live performances. ‘BLOODSWEAT‘ invokes its own name as it unfurls, edged with a sense of danger and vulnerability. Watch the band perform “Jezebel” on  Last Call with Carson Daly here.

THE GARDEN

West Coast neo-punk twins, moonlighting models and provocateurs The Garden will be performing in support of their recent release Haha (Burger/Epitaph Records October 9). The constantly evolving duo of identical twin brothers; Wyatt (bass) and Fletcher (drums) Shears, from Orange County, CA have been conceptualizing their own style since well before the formation of the band in 2011. HaHa is the duo’s follow up to their debut LP The Life and Times of a Paperclip (2012). The duo represent a youthful punk scene in California with their DIY principles, thrift store-cum-glam fashion style and a list of pick ’n’ mix influences that stretch far beyond The Minutemen. Their minimalist two-piece bass and drums essence is dirty, raw and immediate, with a visceral live element. They strip off everything unnecessary about modern punk and get straight to the heart of it, consistently defying categorization and breaking new ground with their ‘Vada Vada*’ philosophy. PURSON PREMIERE “THE WINDOW CLEANER” VIDEO

“Desire’s Magic Theatre really is a slippery rabbit hole of a trip, a misfit alternative to Florence Welch’s mainstream oddness” – Mojo
PURSON have premiered their new video for “The Window Cleaner” from Desire’s Magic Theatre via Mojo. Watch it HERE and HERE.
Vocalist/guitarist Rosalie Cunningham said, “The songs on Desire’s Magic Theatre are very personal, like a diary. They tend to be about the psychedelic experience, something that’s been important to me since my teenage years, figuring out my own sense of spirituality, and ‘The Window Cleaner’ is a prime example.”
She continued, “I’d been up all night at a party, and I wasn’t really enjoying myself. It was all quite seedy. So in the morning, I went to the park with a friend to do some mushrooms. Afterwards, everything had become so beautiful that I went home and demo’d up the song in a couple of hours, and the album version is pretty much the same as that first demo. I think the video is a good representation of where the song sprang from.”
Desire’s Magic Theatre draws inspiration from the rock operas of the late ’60s and early ’70s. This 10-track outing sees the UK group touching on a variety of realms, including folk, prog, psychedelic, gothic, and classic rock, making telling use of classical instruments and complex arrangements along the way.
BLOOD RED THRONE To Release New Album Union of Flesh and Blood on July 15 Via Spinefarm/Candlelight Records

The kings of Norwegian death metal, BLOOD RED THRONE have been unleashing hell on earth since 1998. The band was formed by Daniel “DØD” Olaisen (formerly of Satyricon).
During the last 18 years the band has recorded seven albums with great critiques, toured internationally in headliner and co-headliner spots, and also ripped apart most of the greatest metal festivals on the planet. The band saw a major member-change in 2011 and a new extreme energy to their name.
Hungry as hell, founder “DØD” gathered Ole Bent Madsen (bass), Ivan ‘Meathook’ Gujic (guitar), Freddy Bolsø (original drummer) and Yngve “BOLT” Christiansen (vocals) to bring forward this Norwegian death-metal institution.
Together, they have brought BLOOD RED THRONE to a new level of crazy precision in this, their 18th year, and interest for the band has never been greater.
Live, Blood Red Throne delivers total mayhem of unstable brutality, mixed with deadly precision of speed, aggression and groove, which blows any crowd away.
On July 15BLOOD RED THRONE will release Union Of Flesh And Machine, their eighth studio album, and follow up to the success of BLOOD RED THRONE of 2013, on a newly signed record deal withSPINEFARM/CANDLELIGHT Records.
The album is available for Pre-Order.

Indie Folk Band Watching for Foxes Debut New Single “Two Lovers”

FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

UNDONE BIRD TO BE RELEASED JUNE 10
TH

[“Two Lovers” Soundcloud Stream]

– – – –
Los Angeles, CA – May 18, 2016 – Indie folk band Watching for Foxes are now premiering their new single “Two Lovers.” Fans can listen to the track at Songwriting Magazine or on the band’s official Soundcloud. “Two Lovers” is the first single off of Watching for Foxes’ debut full-length album Undone Bird, out June 10th.
“‘Two Lovers’ is a song about the internal pull between polar opposites,” singer Joey Frendo explained. “I found that when you are trying to find a way to love someone, when you are in a relationship, there are these two forces at odds with one and other. One is the undying urge to give everything you have to that other person, the part of you that would do anything for them. On the other hand, though, is the apprehensive side of ourselves that is selfish and broken and wounded; it will protect your own heart at all costs. I’ve found that in the relationships that populate my life these two dichotomous sides are often at war. ‘Two Lovers’ is a chronicle of this tug-of-war in my own personal life and how that strife often results in killing the thing that I set out to protect; we lose love and our own autonomy.”
Starting as a three-piece band, Watching for Foxes consisted of friends that grew up together in Fremont, MI rehearsing in a vacant high school. The band released 2 EP’s and started performing live in early 2014, touring the Midwest. Wanting to create a bigger sound live, they soon began looking for additional players. After going through some line-up changes, the band finally locked in their members and have been together ever since.
With the release of the upcoming full-length album, Undone Bird, Watching for Foxes brings new elements to a classic genre. Lush with beautiful progressions, a dynamic roots rock feel, and resounding choruses, the album boasts the aesthetic of indie folk anthems coupled with the ethereal angst of modern rock. Drawing heavily from an intoxicating mix of poetry, personal experience and Beat literature, the songs of Undone Bird are diverse and distinguishable. At its core stands a concept album delving into love and loss, transition and transcendence. Most importantly, the band never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from. Undone Bird is the band’s first release with their finalized full band line up.
Watching for Foxes is Joey Frendo (lead vocals), Geoffrey Kartes (cello/vocals), Conner Brogan (guitar/mandolin/trumpet/vocals), Jared Meeuwenberg (guitar), Cameron Barber (bass/banjo), Ricky Olmos (keyboard) and Bandon Hanes (drums).

Linear Downfall
Spirit – May 29

8 p.m. – $7 – 21+

More info on the Facebook page / event page.

Linear Downfall, an experimental band from Nashville, is known for seamlessly blending psychotic noise along with beautiful melodies. Their music taps into the highs and lows of life and challenges one to look inward. Their live show is intense and jarring captivating the audience from beginning to end. They have self-released three albums and one EP, extensively toured the U.S., and caught the attention of the Flaming Lips which led to their side project called the Electric Würms.

Sufferland is a full-length album that is accompanied by a film. It is described as, “A walk through the many compartmentalized landscapes in the mind of a tormented girl who is under the control of a tormented man.” The film was chosen to be a part of the Nashville Film Festival 2015. The highly visceral music demonstrates to listeners that they can be free to feel and know that they are not alone.

“We all go through dark periods in our life but the main objective is to find the light. No matter what is taken from us and we feel empty, ugly, and alone we can always find the happiness to make us whole again.” – Linear Downfall

Reggie and The Full Effect at Altar Bar Pittsburgh

From The Get Up Kids to a stint with My Chemical Romance,  keyboardist James Dewees, is a one man wrecking crew.  Not that he came alone to Altar Bar in Pittsburgh on Saturday night February 15, 2014, but he has proven himself to be a hilarious force to be reckoned with.  Since the mid 1990’s Dewees has been toying with the sounds of “Reggie” and has always taken a bit of the joke approach.  But the music is certainly no joke.  In 2008 Dewees put Reggie and The Full Effect to rest for a bit only to resurrect them with a Kickstarter campaign in March of 2013 to fund the fantastically fun  No Country For Old Musicians.  Although Dewees plays nearly every instrument on Reggie’s recordings, he obviously cannot replicate that live, thus he brought in his band for the tour, but Reggie’s lineup for live performances changes frequently.  Check out our review of No Country For Old Musicians here.

And check out some pix from their stellar performance at Altar Bar…

moe Brings Their “Big World” Jam to Pittsburgh’s Stage AE

moe has an unbelievably dedicated fanbase. “The quintet has drawn upwards of 6,000 fans to two-night stands at such storied venues as New York’s Beacon Theatre, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and Denver’s Fillmore (Facebook)”.  Even though Stage AE was not packed to capacity, it was filled with some true fans who braved the cold to see their favorite band…and I mean their FAVORITE band.  I’ve never seen so many people with the headliners tee on from so many different tours and events.  I don’t think I saw any repeats at all.  That says a lot for these guys who formed out of The University of Buffalo.

moe is generally known as a jam band from the same branch as the Dead, Phish, etc.   Guitarist Al Schnier was asked to describe moe for those who have never heard their music: “It’s an amalgamation of a wide variety of the history of rock, all regurgitated and recycled through the eyes, ears, hands, whatever of the guys in our band and all of that with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, also a constant desire to push the envelope. All in this arena of taking chances, improvising live, and making things up on the spot. (Wikipedia)”.  They could fit on many a festival stage, but certainly have a sound all their own.  The surprising thing may be, for the un-initiated, is how incredibly proficient each of the members of moe is on their instrument, especially guitarists Chuck and Al, who are down right masters.  They are incredibly multi-faceted which allows them to blend many different genres into the moe brand.

The set played at Stage AE Pittsburgh was truly impressive and was a nice retrospective of their material.  the crowd certainly was into it the entire time, which is always a good judgement factor.  The lighting was also excellent and added to the overall mood of the show which was upbeat and playful.
