Italy based, alternative rock quartet A CRIME CALLED has released the official music video for “Drown,” off of their newly released album, A New Path.
“’Drown’ is the result of an intercontinental travel; tthe video is shot in a former asylum, and the images give a feeling of abandonment and claustrophobia, which works against the meaning of the song. The concept is to resist, to try not to drown, maybe finding someone who is a salvation and a hope for you.” – A CRIME CALLED
“Drown” was produced by Dan Korneff (Paramore, Pierce The Veil, Papa Roach) and Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (Fear Factory, Mnemic) and was mastered by Ted Jensen (Bring Me The Horizon, Green Day, Deftones) at Sterling Sound Studios.
“Life is an ocean current of situations, people, sensations. Navigation, solitary as it may be, has its difficult moments which lead us to give up and desist. The destination is often only a necessary excuse to keep on traveling, to not die inside. Living is the only means we were bestowed to avoid being drowned by the current”. – Andrea Verdi (front-man)
A New Path Track List: 1. “Hide The Feelings” 2. “Drown” 3. “New Injection” 4. “Over Again” 5. “Sonic Fear” 6. “Tidal Waves” 7. “Weekend Odyssey” 8. “Pop Could Kill” 9. “Drown” (Acoustic)
“A New Path is an album which describes the courageous approach of the band, that have collaborated with different producers in each song to obtain a new result in terms of sound. “A New Path is our personal musical experience, with a travel around the World started some years ago in New York with the producer Dan Korneff. This album is a mix of genius and passion, with the contribution of many professionals of the music industry. We can’t wait to show you our new stuff!” – A CRIME CALLED
American Rock band FAITH & SCARS has released the official music video for “Rain.” Directed by Jaiden Hord Frost, “Rain” is off of their sophomore album, Revolver.
“This was the 1st video we filmed for Revolver, and it was a blast! In a lot of ways, filming this video was a dream come true. We spend a lot of time dreaming about what it would’ve been like to have a band in the MTV days, so it only made sense to set the video in that vision. The song itself was heavily influenced by the sounds of the 80’s & we’re so excited to have a video that matches that vibe. We did our absolute best to pay homage to Slash & Guns n’ Roses by recreating (to the best of our ability) the November Rain solo. It was so great to be able to pay homage to those who paved the way for us, & throw ourselves into their image. We really hope you dig it! Keep the Faith.” – FAITH & SCARS
Faith & Scars is an American Rock band. With members hailing from all around the US, (North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida) they are currently based out of Selma, NC. They come at you with a southern flare and a touch of soul. Even through their most difficult times, Faith & Scars has found a way to stick together; bound by their mantra: Keep the Faith.
The band states: “We’ve found that if you hold faith in something, and hold it tight – be it your dreams, family, a significant other, yourself, or God – You’ll find yourself possessing a force that will push you to be the best that you can be.”
Faith & Scars has a profound love for music and finds inspiration through many bands & artists. They proudly wear their 90’s-2000’s rock influence on their sleeves, yet distinctly display classic sounds comparative to Guns n Roses, Jimi Hendrix, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Blended all together, you get a sound that can be compared to bands such as Shinedown, Bon Jovi & Black Stone Cherry.
The band adds, “We just want to be the best we can be, and have a good time doing it. It’s a lot of hard work, and sometimes heartache to keep a band together, but if we can touch someone with a lyric, or affect anyone in a positive way by doing what we do… then we’ve done our job. We aim to put on the best show we can every time we step onto a stage. Whether it’s 2,000 people, or 2 people and the bartender – we play every show like it’s a sold out stadium.”
“We’re finding our way as an independent band. We’re working hard to reinvent ourselves at every step of the way. We believe we have done that with this record. We have full faith in Revolver, and we’re proud to have a product that we can stand behind. Our sights are set & we’re about to take our shot. We just hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do.”
Nashville, TN based Indie singer-songwriter KRANTZ has released the official music video for their inspiring new single, “Try Living Every Day.” Originally premiered on mxdwn, “Try Living Every Day” tells a poignant story of positivity and encouragement.
“I wrote this about a buddy at first, but ended up feeling like I was singing about myself,” said Krantz. “I’ve missed a lot of fun trips, big events, or even just get togethers with friends because I was afraid to take the day off from working. I just thought I had to make money and that was the most important thing, but came to realize I was missing what would have been great times in my life just to have more in my bank account. I’m not saying don’t work a job or anything like that, just don’t become a slave to it and make sure ya live everyday to the fullest. Pep talk over…” – KRANTZ
“The song opens with a dramatic hip-hop style beat and a simple piano figure, though as the synths enter it takes a bit of a swing into more left-field, psychedelic sounds not unlike The Flaming Lips. The song is told in a narrative style, describing “He came into the world / With vision quite obscured / His childhood was kind.”
The animated video follows the events of the song, featuring a pregnant woman, a newborn baby and a preschool age child watching television. Eventually he grows into a man who’s first priority is money and stability, something that’s hammered into us from a young age but in an age of increasing wealth disparity, becomes a life and soul-sucking mission for everyone but the richest of the rich.” – MATT MATASCI – mxdwn
After leaving his home state of Iowa, traveling the world, touring over 200 days per year with a band called The Effects* and opening for acts such as the Kings of Leon, Shinedown, Foreigner, and the Toadies, Jeffrey Krantz made the decision to “live the dream” and eventually landed in Nashville. There, he recorded his first self-produced solo album titled “KRANTZ” in between tapings of MTV’s music competition, American Supergroup, where he eventually became a finalist in the competition. While working nonstop at the Honky Tonks of Music City to reach his musical dream, Jeffrey Krantz kept writing, touring, and released “The Pennock Tapes” (2017) and his second album, “Misty Morning Dew.” The band “Krantz” brings a psychedelic/pop/rock edge equipped with an in-your-face attitude, intertwining meaningful lyrics, and authentic, no-holds rock and roll. As an alternative rock band in a land of country music, Krantz embraces a refreshing take on golden age rock acts, combining classic musical elements of The Beatles and T. Rex with more modern sounds of bands like Weezer and Green Day, creating whimsical and catchy melodies that are certain make your feet dance and heart throb.
Idaho Rock Band Silent Theory has released the Official Music Video for their new single “Six Feet Under”. Created by Jon Kuritz of Make Waves Media House, “Six Feet Under” presents a poignant statement on the state of mental health awareness and treatment in the US.
“‘Six Feet Under’ is about the evolution of hate and ignorance to mental health. It was written during the marathon of mass shootings but it was never a stance on gun control. Only a wake up call observation of our mental healthcare system and our bare minimum efforts for prevention.” – SILENT THEORY
In a society where new bands pop up every day, Silent Theory is here to set a new standard. The band found success with their single, “Fragile Minds,” released June 2016, charting at #97 for Media Base Active-Rock and #29 for Under the Radar charts. It has since surpassed 5 million video views on YouTube and continues to grow rapidly. Following this success in June 2018, through Loudwire, the band released their second single off of the album, Delusions, “Watch Me Burn.” The single charted at #67 on the Media Base Active-Rock charts.

As of January 2019, they signed with Paul Crosby Management (founding member of Saliva), released their latest single, “Six Feet Under,” and are currently finishing a new album to be released later this year.

Deepfall drops their latest album, Broken, via Pavement Entertainment. Broken is available on CD through Pavement’s Online Store and on streaming platforms everywhere.
Rich Hopkins, the vocalist of Deepfall, says on Broken, “My favorite song performance wise from the new album would have to be ‘Ghost.’ It’s a fairly deep song for me, and playing it on stage is a bit of a rollercoaster ride.” He also appreciates seeing the different reactions fans have to Deepfall’s music. “Everyone who listens to our music can incorporate their own circumstances to each song. It’s amazing to see what our fans take away from it.”
Deepfall conjures an enveloping storm of carefully crafted hard rock that strikes the soul with stinging honesty. Masterfully capturing thematic darkness, the band leaves a sonic trail of scorched post-apocalyptic earth behind its musical machine, blazing a path through the heaviness of life with an equally heavy response.

DEEPFALL conjures an enveloping storm of carefully crafted hard rock that strikes the soul with stinging honesty.
Cutting to the bone with soaring instrumental passages, spirited choruses, and precisely placed breakdowns, the band thrives in the expanse of rock ’n’ roll’s vast sub-genres.
Masterfully capturing thematic darkness, the band leaves a sonic trail of scorched post-apocalyptic earth behind its musical machine, blazing a path through the heaviness of life with an equally heavy response.
Situated in Greenville, Michigan, the group’s current lineup, which began to take shape in 2015, is comprised of Rich Hopkins (vocals/guitar), Nick Gray (drums), Tim King (keyboards), Anthony Battista (lead guitar 1), Max Carrillo (lead guitar 2), and Taylor Brandt (bass).
In a short time, DEEPFALL has carved its place in the American rock scene with broad, muscular soundscapes forged in the studio and resurrected onstage. The band’s latest release, Broken, employs a signature brand of soulful songwriting rounded out by an unapologetic combination of surging guitars, rattling bass, mesmerizing keyboards, heavy drums and Hopkins’ roaring lead vocals.
Behind the veil of these ferocious soundscapes, DEEPFALL emerges as an outfit of determined musicians with a deep love for their craft and a hope to connect with listeners through engaging story-driven rock.
DEEPFALL has supported national acts such as Hinder, SOiL, Tantric, Smile Empty Soul, Saving Abel, The Iron Maidens, Texas Hippie Coalition, and Wayland, while having performed at venues such as The Intersection, The Stache, and The Music Factory. The band continues to play regionally, write new music, and keep its collective foot pressed down on the gas pedal towards endless possibility.
Portugal based hard rock band YELLOW DOG CONSPIRACY has released the official lyric video to their new single “Reaching for the Stars”. Directed by Pedro Salvado it is the first track from their highly anticipated, upcoming second album “Liberation”.
“We were so pleased with the end result of this first song that we didn’t want to wait and decided to release it straight away, rather than waiting to finish the rest of the entire album. It’s a song about how a romantic relationship break down can be the push that it is needed to find a new positive perspective in general and ultimately pave the way to find true happiness and a healthier approach to life and love. We can’t wait to start playing it live and seeing people’s reactions to the song.” – YELLOW DOG CONSPIRACY
“The chorus is very catchy with Vice’s high range vocals being showcased with the distinctive, non repetitive song structure and balanced by another brilliant guitar solo from Luiz.” – Joe Fortunato, mixer and producer
“It’s one of those rock tunes that just make you want to turn up the volume when you hear it” – Nuno Arantes, On the Rocks rock radio show host
“It’s a brilliantly catchy song that all rock fans will enjoy and sing along to and with a solo that guitar players will want to learn.” – Venice, Venice Beach rock radio show host
Reaching for the Stars” is the first single from their follow-up album to “Confrontation”, YDC’s debut album produced and mixed by Brad Cox and Mike Clink, legendary American producer of bands like Guns ’N’ Roses.
“Confrontation” is a guitar driven, all out hard rock album. It features eleven tracks, ranging from political and rebellious subjects like “Enough Is Enough” and “Revenge”, to more soft and inspiring songs like “We Need a Change” and “One to Blame”. Thrown into the mix are some catchy tunes like “Falling Into You” and “Don’t Lie to Me”, some fiery and vibrant themes like “Cocaine to the Vein” and “Break it Down”, a very groovy Rock ’n’ Roll tune “Somebody Else” and some melodic punked up songs like “Skinny Little Man” and “Hello my Friend”.
The thread that runs through the entire album and ties the songs together is confrontation in its different forms, be it with the government, with people or with ourselves and own ghosts and demons. It aims to be a solid, original album with a modern twist showcasing YDC’s personality.
“Confrontation is a great release that should appeal to fans of good 80’s Hard Rock, however fans of Modern Melodic Hard Rock should also give these guys a chance – Portugal definitely rocks hard.” Mick Parry, in Fireworks Magazine
Links to songs from the band’s first album, Confrontation “Enough Is Enough (Official Audio)” an all out hard rock, calling for revolution anthem inspired by the US declaration of independence.
Minnesota based, cinematic rock band COYOTE KID has released their hotly anticipated concept album, Skeleton Man. Funded in large part through fan support via a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, Skeleton Man introduces fans to the dark world first revealed in the debut single, “Femme Fatale.”
“The Skeleton Man has been a passion project for us for the last two years. We wanted to build an action/adventure story with high stakes, but that still has universally relatable themes and ideas. Musically we wanted to write a coherent record without any confines to our genre, or the styles we’ve made in the past. We just wanted to be free to take our sound in any direction we wanted, and to try and build an album that will have something for everybody. We also wrote recurring motifs throughout the album that reflect the character’s growth as they change. Trying to make the album feel smooth and coherent, while still leaving the listener in a totally different place then where the album starts.” – Austin Durry – Vocals

To find the coordinates you’ll have to decipher the secret code hidden in the album. As soon as the album drops the hunt is on.”

Like oil and water, Durry’s true grit voice alongside Cassandra’s crystal clarity form a stirring, yet beautiful contrast. All being thrusted foreword by shimmering spaghetti-western guitars, growling base, and soaring brass. Their lyrics paint a thrilling picture of monsters and ghosts, murderers and thieves, love and guilt, and everything in between. Denver, CO based Heavy Rock Band LOLA BLACK has released their dark music video for their cover of the 1990 CONCRETE BLONDE classic single, “Bloodletting.” Originally premiered on Dread Central, “Bloodletting” will be available through The Label Group / INgrooves Music Group on Día de Muertos, Nov 1st, Day Of The Dead.
“Covering Bloodletting (the vampire song) by Concrete Blonde came very naturally to me. Johnette Napolitano was a pioneer at bringing a subtle darkness with a sexy swag into heavy alternative rock. She herself said that the song was inspired by Anne Rice and the Vampire Chronicles. At the time the mainstream didn’t believe “Bloodletting” would work but the song went on to become a cult classic and through our interpretation we want to keep that spirit going. Much like Concrete Blonde, our darker side has never been fully embraced so it is as if we were meant to cover this song and keep that middle finger in the air to the mainstream.” – LOLA

Out of the primordial soup comes A Primitive Evolution (A.P.E.). Given the gift of sentience, they are here to create a constantly evolving soundtrack to our world with their dark, alternative rock music. With its current release of full length recording “Becoming” the bands next mutation is underway. Recorded at their self-built Desolation Studios in Toronto, ON the album features collaborations with Writer / Producer Ian D’Sa (Billy Talent) and Audio Engineer Kenny Luong (Metric, Cancer Bats). In partnership with Metropolis Records, the band and label unleashed Becoming together, worldwide on October 5th. 2018. Known to be raw and visceral, with soul and beauty: A Primitive Evolution is best consumed at extremely loud volumes!
Awarded “Best Rock Band” by the 2015 Toronto Independent Music Awards, A Primitive Evolution has toured extensively, showcased at prestigious festivals CMW, NXNE & Indie Week Canada and received strong support from Canadian Music Industry stalwarts Alan Cross (CFNY 102.1 The Edge, ajournalofmusicalthings.com) and George Stroumboulopoulos (MuchMusic, CBC).
Pulling together a complex array of influences including Nine Inch Nails, Muse, The Cure, Tool, The Prodigy, Ministry, Radiohead, U2, Vivaldi, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses and more, A Primitive Evolution’s rhythm-based attack blurs the lines of rock, electronica and all aspects between.
“Creation is evolution” observes A.P.E. singer Brett Carruthers, “that’s what I figure we’re trying to say with A Primitive Evolution. As evolved as we think we are as humans or animals, we are very much at the beginning of the evolution of mankind. We have so much to learn and yet so much has changed in the last hundred years. We have a long way to go as a species. We want our band to reflect that too, showing our raw emotions, doing it out of instinct and evolving naturally; not overthinking, just having some fun existing on this planet.”
Wisconsin based Metalcore band VERSUS ME has released the official music video for “Far Behind,” the first single off of their upcoming LP, CONTINUOUS, due out 9/13/2019.
“Continuous has been a long time in the making. This album is a combination of all the styles that this band is capable of achieving. We feel like we really touched on a lot of different elements satisfying for Versus Me fans, yet inviting for new ones. Our first single, “Far Behind” is fast and sets the pace for the album. Riffs and catchy choruses…..what more would you want to kick off a record?! – James (Vocals)
VERSUS ME, from Janesville, Wisconsin is a band for today’s subcultural and mainstream pop crowds alike. They have crafted a sophomore album featuring the type of crowd-ready anthems heard in stadiums on the One Direction/5 Seconds Of Summer world tour, while simultaneously harnessing the heaviness and earnest delivery found each year on the Warped Tour’s main stage and in the pages of Alternative Press, Rocksound, Kerrang!
Even as Versus Me take aim for mainstream chart success, arena headlining shows and the attention of the diehard fans who drive the underground scene, the band’s number one goal remains simple. Versus Me wants nothing less than positivity, communication and connection with their audience. They want to show that their music, and all good music, can help people with life toughest trials and hardships. Versus Me yearn to connect with every person they can, whether to talk about music, or to learn about where people are coming from and who they are.
Packing an arsenal of melodies, hooks, breakdowns, electro fueled bounce and deep grooves, Versus Me’s message of uplifting goodwill is about to make itself heard loud and proud – from the stage, from cars, speakers, headphones and anywhere possible.

This review could be VERY easily completed with three words, to be honest. The night could be summed up as INCREDIBLE, FRESH and ENERGIZING.
I was very excited to get the chance to see and cover Greta Van Fleet. The only thing I wish was that they would have played a bigger venue. They SOLD OUT Mr. Small’s Funhouse in Millvale PA. Rather quickly too. And from what I was told, they turned away quite a few people looking to get tickets the night of the show. This band could have easily packed a bigger venue such as Stage AE or the likes thereof. But we can hope for that the next time they visit Pittsburgh.
The band that consists of brothers Josh Kiszka, Jake Kiszka and Sam Kiszka, and friend and drummer Danny Wagner. The three brothers are musically gifted and will be at the forefront of the music industry for many years to come.
The shows started with a ton of energy and finished the same way. Josh’s vocal’s while VERY Robert Plant-ish, are BEYOND incredible. What he can do LIVE is phenomenal. Let alone what he can do on a record. Playing in these smaller venues, there is no taped vocals nor anything mysterious to be done with the sound systems. At Mr. Small’s HE BLEW THE CROWD AWAY with his incredible range and power. I really don’t want to compare Josh to anything that Robert Pant ever did. Many currently are calling them very Led Zepplin-like. However, Josh’s vocals are fresh and more powerful in my opinion. Plus, he plays with his range and ability much more than Robert Plant ever did, so again, I don’t want to compare him to Plant like many have. However, as GREAT of a performer as Robert Plant was, I will compare Josh to him in that regard. Josh kept the crowd in the palm of his hand all night and left them screaming and hoping for more. Black Smoke Rising, Highway Tune and Safari Song were AMAZING. Simply jaw dropping with what Josh can do with his vocal range. Josh’s range and crisp tone were great and he is not showing any signs of wear or tear on his vocals. I hope he takes care of his talent. It is indeed rare and breathtaking to say the least.
Edge of Darkness, Flower Power and When The Cold Wind Blows were equally as impressive. Josh’s blew the roof off Mr. Small’s on Flower Power. Again, his range makes the song.
Jake Kiszka really brought a lot to the table on guitar. He’s young very gifted just like his two brothers. He did some great things on the guitar that only a seasoned very really should be doing. Josh’s other brother, Sam while quiet and mellow at first really stepped out of his shell halfway through the show and shined. His talent on the keyboards also put energized the show. By the end of the show, Sam was really loosened up and having a great time. With Danny Wagner on the drums and the only one outside the family, he really shined. No real solo, but did have some time where he got to shine on the skins.
The encore brought Highway Song and The Safari Song. INCREDIBLE set enders and the crowd really was into them. There is really nothing more than I can say about this band and the show. If they are putting on the same exact show now on the west coast that they did in Pittsburgh PA, the crowds are getting their money’s worth and telling their friends that they need to see this band and buy their CD. Which by chance, is being released November 10th. Their new CD will be available on iTunes then and I expect to sell very well and hopefully setting up another leg of an American tour. Hopefully, Pittsburgh and Stage AE are on it.
Following their hit “Matriarch” album, Veil of Mayahave finally released some fresh work with their latest album, “False Idol,” which dropped today. This will be Veil of Maya’s second album with their latest singer, Lukas Magyar, adding in clean vocals once again which was a very controversial topic on the album prior. On “Matriarch,” the vocals were a nice step up from previous albums leading up to their latest releases. With “False Idol,” curiosity was probably the best way to describe prior emotions for when the album was announced due to the new direction they were taking.
From the first two singles released (Doublespeak and Overthrow) we ended up with a little taste of what this albums true potential holds. We heard the fairly standard sound that we’ve grown accustom too listening to Veil of Maya, but in the end, is their sound really standard? Every song they’ve written has been intense, complex, and leaving musicians very confused over the years when it comes to the majority of their work due to oddball time signatures and a very unique playing style. Between the two singles released, we already received some of the best parts from Veil of Maya that we are fairly use to, which truly fills my metal influenced heart with bliss and joy. The killer breakdowns and fast tempo rhythms throughout them combined with the occasional newfound verse/chorus patterns just absolutely crush it with ease.
As I was listening to “False Idol” I was fairly intrigued on how their first true concept album would turnout, and so far I’m still hooked on the “sick licks” they came up with for this album. Luckily Veil of Maya had a lot more time to actually prepare this time around and was able to structure these songs properly instead of adding vocals/lyrics at the last minute with a fresh new vocalist. That particular situation was out of their hands at the time due to some bad timing involved on the last album, but in the end, were able to pull it together to create something fresh and new for everyone which ended up opening many new doors. Having the time to prepare this time definitely made a difference this time around listening to these tracks; “Manichee” is a prime example. When listening in on it, you can really hear the dynamics added into the vocals that match up with the music. It didn’t feel rushed or even pushed into the song, it sounded a lot more naturally involved one could say.
Going from the first half of this album to the second, it has a transitional point it feels like where it starts off fast and heavy, giving that well needed adrenaline rush before slowing it down actually and giving you a quick breather. That breather doesn’t really last too long since the last three songs go right back into some heavy hitting riffs. Let us not forget the fantastic bass lines and drum beats from Dan Hauser and Sam Applebaum. Who else are we missing? Quite possibly one of the most entertaining and talented guitarists to hit the scene as well, Mark Okubo. Where this group comes up with half of the things they do is a question that seems as if it will never be answered. Overall rating from our standpoint, 4 out 5 stars, a very high quality rating and an amazing album for all metal fans to indulge and simply enjoy. Personal recommendations of songs to listen to would be: Fracture, Pool Spray, Citadel, and Follow Me.
Chicago-based Andrew Belle has made a name for himself as one of our more compelling songwriters since releasing his debut albumThe Ladder in 2010. Though that album held strong at number one for several weeks on iTunes‘s singer-songwriter chart and earned dozens of television and film licenses, Belle boldly followed a new muse on the album’s electronic, alternative follow-up, Black Bear. His third and latest album Dive Deep doubles down on the ethereal electronic sound of Black Bear, and sees Belle pushing himself to new depths as a songwriter, a vocalist, and a composer. Soaring choruses and moody arrangements abound on Dive Deep, a thoughtfully crafted and deeply felt album that deserves consideration among peers like James Blake and Bon Iver.
The new album is FANTASTIC – very chill vibes with pleasing electronic beats, comforting acoustic sounds and thoughtful lyrics. Check out the press love so far:

Rather than meticulously plan things out or stick rigidly to any kind of template, when it comes to writing, The Black Dahlia Murder prefer to let things happen organically. In the hands of guitarist Brian Eschbach – who co-founded the band with front-man Trevor Strnad in 2001 – and new recruit Brandon Ellis (Arsis, ex-Cannabis Corpse), Nightbringers is rich with dynamic riffs that are at once fresh and classic The Black Dahlia Murder, resulting in a collection that shifts through many moods and effortlessly incorporates various elements of extreme metal. While Strnad explores a variety of themes and ideas with his lyrics, they are united by the album’s title, which embraces a tenet that has been central to The Black Dahlia Murder‘s output since the very beginning. “Death metal and nighttime are synonymous to me,” Strnad explains. “We are the rulers of the darkened hours that the Christian good fears. A lot of archaic ideas that are still upheld – such as marriage and monogamy – came from Christianity, whether people want to acknowledge it or not, and to me, death metal has always been bucking that. It’s ‘being-the-villain music’, because we’re the enemy of Christianity, the enemy of all that is good and traditional. Death metal is for free thinkers, it’s for showing people the path to inner strength and operating on your own will, instead of being told what to do and living in fear, and songs like the title track and ‘Kings Of The Nightworld’ are about leading a legion of awakened minds into battle.”

“Long Way Back” is the second single to be released from Crow’s current album Be Myself, which has been heralded by such outlets as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, and Rolling Stone, which called it “her toughest and best in a decade” and “a full-blown return to her fierce rock-queen glory.” Be Myself is available to purchase or stream here and available on vinyl at Barnes & Noblehere.

Mykki Blanco is the New York City writer, activist, and international performing artist who’s as well known for his gender-nonconforming attitude as he is for his genre-bending brand of hip hop. He released his debut studio album Mykki via !K7 Records in September 2016. The album was a culmination of Blanco’s years of recording, touring, work, and imagination and received much acclaim from the likes of The FADER, The Atlantic, Pitchfork (7.7), i-D and more.
Once again, Lancaster legends August Burns Red swung by Pittsburgh for the Messengers 10th anniversary tour. Since their “go to” venue has been shut down (Altar Bar) they ended up at Mr. Smalls for the occasion. Deciding to tour and celebrate one of their heaviest and fastest albums seemed like it would be a crazy idea for them after coming off of their most intricate album (Found in Far Away Places) to date. Luckily it brought out the diehard ABR fans to these shows who remember seeing them ten years ago when this album first came out. That being said, crazy may be an understatement for Wednesday night since there were endless crowd surfers and moshers from start to finish.
At the very start of the show, maybe about halfway through the first song, Jake Luhrs (vocals) stopped singing to help one of the photographers out of the pit actually because it ended up getting way to hectic for anyone to be down there with all the crowd surfers falling over the barricade. After leaving the stage, the band continued to finish the song before stopping to wait for the return of their frontman. When coming back on stage, he had a brief statement about having fun but staying safe. From that point they continued on with playing the Messengers album all the way through before returning to the stage for one of Matt’s famous drum solos followed by some of their hits such as: Empire, White Washed, and Ghosts.
Every single time I end up covering ABR I feel as if I always leave with a drive to listen and play music so much more than I ever would at another concert. From the professionalism to the offstage generosity these guys have is just mindboggling sometimes. Plus getting some of the best pictures of my career of them definitely helps. All in all, their shows are some of the best metalcore performances out there and the fact that they are in the writing process for another album makes my hair stand on edge for how excited I am.
The goth/metalcore unit, Motionless In White, out of Scranton, PA has surpassed a decade of popularising their brand of music, mixing screamo and clean vocals. With all the bands that come and go from the Warped Tour genre this is no easy feat. Their ability to pull in a female audience has much to do with that, appealing to a wide range of melodious metal enthusiasts. MIW is due to release a new album, Graveyard Shift(on Roadrunner Records), in May, recently putting out their single, “Eternally Yours” and currently touring with the likes of Issues and Falling In Reverse. The band has gone through some personnel changes over the years, but the constant presence of lead singer Chris Cerulli remains steady. For the most part, the lineup Wednesday night in Pittsburgh was the tight group that has been slugging it out on the road since 2012.
With a jack-o-lantern spotted, candle filled, graveyard type setting MIW launched in quickly with “570”, a spectacular opener due to the intensity, and followed it up with “A-M-E-R-I-C-A” (off of Infamous) accompanied by guest vocals from Michael Vampire of Dead Girls Academy, who opened earlier in the evening. As they went into “Everyone Sells Cocaine” their influences ranging from Nu-metal/industrial to New Wave to mainstream metal were readily apparent. Their rabid fans sang every word and security guards quickly had their hands full as the crowd surfing went full throttle. Of all the bands that performed it seemed that the energy level peaked with MIW. As Chris ‘Motionless’ worked the crowd, Devin ‘Ghost’ hammered his bass and let his red dyed flocks fly in abandon, Ricky ‘Horror’ Olson showed his tremendous prowess as a rhythym guitar player, Ryan Sitkowski stoically synched perfectly with Olson as he shred lead guitar, and newest member of the band Vinny Mauro on drums held down the low end. “Abigail”, “Undead Ahead”, “Death March” and “Devil’s Night” came in quick sucession.
Having witnessed MIW numerous times, it became readily apparent that they have matured not only in their sound, but their stage presence as well. The theatrics are still there via a dancing pumpkin head and a woman who throws out candy and shoots squirt guns, but the reliance on makeup and cliches from their genre has waned drastically. The latest release “Eternally Yours” certainly has the signature MIW sound of aggressive and light flip flops, but the vocals have progressed as well as the guitar and synth presence.
The highlight of the show though may have been their cover of System Of A Down‘s “Chop Suey”. With Devin and Ricky trading instruments, Chris did an amazing job impersonating Tankian (admittedly he’s no Tongo), and Devin handled the hush backing vocals of Malakian. The crowd went berserk and frankly, this one needs to be committed to wax because it is that well done. Check out a sample here:
Motionless finished off their set with “Dead As Fuck”, “Eternally Yours” and “Reincarnate”.
Motionless In White continue to prove themselves as not only a ‘stage’ entertaining band, but a band that is evolving musically without losing their identity and fan base. The new release on May 5 should be interesting to say the least.

Emperor Of Sand finds Mastodon returning to a deeply imaginative and complex conceptual storyline that ponders the nature of time. Threading together the myth of a man sentenced to death in a majestically malevolent desert, the band conjures the grains of a musical and lyrical odyssey slipping quickly through a cosmic hourglass. “Emperor of Sandis like the grim reaper,”says drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor. “Sand represents time. If you or anyone you know has ever received a terminal diagnosis, the first thought is about time. Invariably, you ask, ‘How much time is left?'”
“We’re reflecting on mortality,” adds bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders. “To that end, the album ties into our entire discography. It’s 17 years in the making, but it’s also a direct reaction to the last two years. We tend to draw inspiration from very real things in our lives.”
Emperor Of Sand was recorded at The Quarry Recording Studio in Kennesaw, just outside Mastodon’s hometown of Atlanta, with producer Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Neil Young, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine), whofirst worked with Mastodon on their seminal 2009 album Crack The Skye.
Over the course of Mastodon’s career, the band members have fearlessly continued to push themselves towards greater creative heights on their recorded output. Each studio album has united an ever-expanding worldwide legion of fans who have come to expect the unexpected twists and turns that have elevated Mastodon to become one of the most respected and influential creative forces in rock music.
“Mastodon are the greatest metal band of their generation – no one else comes close.” Rolling Stone
“The coolest band in rock!”Drum! Magazine
“Chances are you could use heavier rock in your life, and Mastodon’s riff-heavy epics are as friendly to non-metalheads as they are to heshers.” New York magazine
Mastodon kick off a Spring U.S. headline tour in support of Emperor Of Sand beginning April14th in Missoula, MT, with support from Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles. The tour also includes stops at several festivals, including the Carolina Rebellion Festival on May 5th.
Each pair of tickets purchased online for Mastodon (excluding festival dates and the May 6th Philadelphia show) includes a choice of a physical or digital copy of Emperor of Sand. Ticket purchasers will receive instructions via e-mail on how to redeem the album on March 31st. Tickets are on sale now. ALPHEN AAN DEN RIJN, NETHERLANDS — Pure, lush and warm, the guitar tones of yesteryear are alive and well thanks to NEXI Industries’ new Analog Chorus (CHO-01) guitar effects pedal. The player can call on the Chorus for many different styles of music and whenever a rich, thicker sound is needed. It’s “warm syrup” without the stickiness, leaving the player in full control of the tone they want to achieve. Whether this effect is used to broaden the arpeggiated chords of an 80s classic or to add depth to a modern dance jam, the Analog Chorus is a versatile pedal that players will want on their board’s regular lineup.
A chorus pedal essentially gives the effect of more than one guitar playing by doubling the original sound and then putting it slightly out of time and tune. NEXI’s Analog Chorus pedal has three onboard controls that give the player flexibility in how they dial in their tone. The Speed knob makes the wavering sound effect faster or slower, while the Depth knob controls how much effect the player gets. Or, switch the Ultra Classic knob to “on” for a pure effect that’s reminiscent of the early days when the chorus became popularized by some of the era’s most influential bands, including Pink Floyd, The Police and U2.
Like all NEXI pedals, the Analog Chorus was designed by boutique effect pedal creators, the self-declared “Vintage Analog Protection Squad,” who are committed to providing a unique tone without compromise. All NEXI pedals are true bypass and hybrid, and all are tailor-made to plug ‘n play. That means the Analog Chorus can be used standalone with a 9V battery or plugged right into the external power supply of NEXI’s revolutionary pedal board. Aptly named “The Solution,” this heavy-duty board has a two-channel switch and three-step booster to satisfy every guitarist’s ego. It’s also equipped with covers that protect ports against dirt and beverage spills (splash-proof), a built-in tuner and power supply, and two charging docks for tablet or smartphone. Players can rock confidently, knowing that their board—and their Analog Chorus pedal—are safe and sound.
The Analog Chorus pedal may be steeped in nostalgia, but it’s built with the durability, convenience and compatibility today’s players are seeking—and at the €99.95 (approx. USD $105) price point they can afford. Get a closer look and hear a demo at https://nexi.eu/products/analog-chorus.

The fully-instrumental album, which features his band The Creatures (bassist Ian Ross and drummer Rodger Carter), is set to hit stores on March 3, 2017. Century Media Records and legendary US metal act SANCTUARY have set February 24th, 2017 as the release date of Inception, the official prequel to 1988’s classic debut “Refuge Denied”.
Inception contains presumed lost 1986 studio recordings, which guitarist Lenny Rutledge discovered recently and which were magically restored, remixed and remastered by Zeuss (Queensrÿche, Hatebreed). You can watch the first video trailer here.
Guitarist Lenny Rutledge comments: “I found the masters in my barn. The second floor of the barn is on top of our current recording studio and is very rough and open to the elements. The ground level is where we recorded the bulk of ‘The Year The Sun Died’. We found the masters in an unknown box in the barn, full of water and just wasting away.“
Zeuss explains further how the Inception album was realized: “I got a call one day and Lenny said that he had discovered these tapes and had them transferred to digital. I was in the area and stopped over to check it out. The recordings were still in decent shape. We agreed that we wanted it to sound as good as possible without taking away from the original vibe and vision of what the band had back then. After a year of mixing on and off we were able to resurrect these original demos. I hope everyone enjoys these recordings as much as I did working on them especially being a huge fan myself.“
Recorded in March of 1986 (“Soldiers Of Steel”, “Battle Angels”) at Triad Studios in Redmond, Washington and Studio One in White Center between April and July 1986, Inception offers such previously unreleased highlights as “Dream of The Incubus” and “I Am Insane” as well as several classic Refuge Denied songs that are burning with fervour and intensity.
Apart from being expanded by art courtesy of Ed Repka, Inception is filled to the brim with tons of rare photos, flyers, early art designs, sketches plus detailed liner notes allowing you to delve deep into SANCTUARY’s history.
Inception will be released as Gatefold LP on 180 gram black and limited colored vinyl, includes an extensive LP-size booklet, poster, and the album on CD as additional extra. Apart from that it will be available as Special Edition CD Digipak and digital album.
Lenny concludes: “For me personally, I just wanted fans to be able to hear proper versions of the demos. They had a certain energy that was captured during the early days, maybe even more so than “Refuge Denied”. It’s no secret that you can find these on the internet but the quality is horrible. I think most people are under the impression that these are remastered or re-recorded versions of Refuge…”, but this is all a prequel!“
With several European festivals already booked for next year, a new album in the works, Inception being released, 2017 shall be the year when past and future of SANCTUARY unite. Look forward to the next assault of the soldiers of steel!
Yoke Lore layers the harmonies of Panda Bear, the soulful beats of M83, and the modern pop of Blackbird Blackbird to tell “the stories of how we are bound.” Galvin’s songs start with the folksy timbre of a banjo and add echoing waves of vocals and percussion to create unforgettable pop music with tactile sincerity and conviction.
Galvin grew up in an artistic family, his mother a director and his father an actor and sculptor. He was immersed in painting, photography, and ballet from an early age, eventually finding his first musical passion in the drums. While pursuing music, his artistry in other disciplines has not faltered, even lending his own artwork as the cover of his debut EP, Far Shore.
When he’s not writing and recording new music, Galvin can be found teaching yoga or performing with his modern dance company Boomerang in Brooklyn.
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA (Oct. 12 2016) — “Deluxe” isn’t always about high-gloss and highly figured tops; sometimes it comes down to excellence in sound and simplicity. Cort introduces the new Action DLX AS, an electric bass guitar model that delivers a deluxe sound and feel, along with a simple, yet attractive esthetic. With updated electronics and a rustic Ashwood, the Action DLX AS is ready to accommodate players of various styles who desire high-quality tone supported by solid construction.
With the new Markbass MB-1 EQ preamp, the Action DLX AS model advances the active electronics of its series counterpart, the Action DLX. This new setup features a three-band EQ, pickup balancer and master volume, and Active/Passive conversion switch that complements the PDX-5 pickups. The result is a wide range of controls that allow players to craft their unique sound according to their preferred style.
The advanced sonic control of the Action DLX AS is reinforced by its 34’’, bolt-on body constructed of Ashwood. This wood is known for its warm mid-range, as well as its appealing, grainy look that has excellent compatibility with clear coat finishes. These features are evident in the open pore natural color. Black hardware and diecasting tuners add bold accents to the wood’s natural beauty.
Much like its DLX counterpart, the Action DLX AS has a Canadian hard maple neck featuring a rosewood fingerboard (15 3/4’’ radius) with white dot inlays. The 34’’ scale is comprised of 24 large frets. Available in a four- or five-string model, the Action DLX AS delivers a range and tone that will benefit bassists of various genres.

making whimsical surf-pop may seem like a daunting task when you live states away from the nearest beach, but guitarist and vocalist jared corder was determined to make the music reminiscent of his california birthplace. the band was always intended to be a 3-piece: jared on guitar and vocals, andy herrin on drums, with female harmony vocals reminiscent of 1960s west coast beach pop.
while working on new sounds, it was suggested by producer, gregory lattimer [albert hammond jr, kink ador, the gills, the grayces] that corder’s wife, kristyn, sing in the band.
the trio once described by the nashville scene as (“dick dale’s snot-nosed grandkids”) tracked a single and two additional tracks with lattimer in a basement of their hometown of east nashville in late 2012. the band’s first single “12345678” was released in march 2013.
“history”, was released in september 2013, and “chemical reaction” was released feb 1, 2014, and preceded the band’s first full-length album, “bad latitude”, released in march 2014. another song from the album, “not the one” went into heavy rotation on nashville’s beloved lightning 100 (100.1FM).
*repeat repeat’s debut album “bad latitude” is available on on all major digital retailers (itunes, bandcamp, and repeatx2.storenvy.com/
“fans of yeah yeah yeahs, the ravonettes, or b-52’s are catching on to *repeat repeat.” – audiosocket
“…far and away one of the finest pop and rock bands currently in nashville. so many bands think that they must be either cool or fun, and never the two shall meet… *repeat repeat says fuck that, mashes them together, and throws 60’s tie-die vibes all over it. and glitter. to paraphrase jason lee’s character in the eternally great movie almost famous, if you’re not getting off, *repeat repeat will find you and get you off!…” – shop sessions @ dcxv industries
Beach Slang’s second full-length is a crash-and-thunder collection of songs about what it takes to keep yourself going, to make it through the rest of the night-hell, through the rest of your youth-and beyond. Frontman James Alex wrote much of A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings on their first album’s support tour, during which he spent a lot of time with the kids who’d picked up the record.
The band previously shared the song “Punks in Disco Bar”. The video was described byNPR as “…a glimpse into what it’s like to be young, misunderstood and out of place, yet finding belonging in each other. It’s the perfect complement to “Punks In A Disco Bar” and an ode to the motifs and life-affirming mission of Beach Slang.” Watch it HERE.
Nice things said about “Punks in a Disco Bar”;
“The song will certainly be instantly recognizable to fans of the band’s previous work, with the same never-caring, heart-punching, loud-things-loving lyrics and thick Minneapolis-style riffing of Beach Slang’s debut LP – if a touch wearier than last time out.” – Spin
“the heart-on-the-sleeve punks have already become the kind of band that fans rush to get tattooed all over their bodies. Well, those fans had better make room for some new ink…”
“We need endorphin-heavy, heart-on-sleeve, major-chord, grin-inducing punk rock right now. I mean we need it. There’s a goddamn duty of care: punk has to hold people to account and spit against authority, but sometimes you need to smile like an idiot and let go.” – Noisey
“This new track seeps with feelings of youth and their accompanying frustration. Very punk guitar drowns the entire two minutes and 41 seconds, and the vocals don’t hold anything back. It’s just what you’d expect from a song called “Punks In A Disco Bar,” and that’s not a bad thing.” WXPN

After unquestionably solidifying themselves as a band-to-watch in the technical progressive metal scene with 2008’s 3.14 demo and 2009’s Revitalized EP – the latter of whichNoCleanSinging.com called, “a creative fireball of attention-grabbing music,” andTeethOfTheDivine.com touted as “mind-blowing” – fans have been eagerly awaiting a full-fledged comeback. After dropping a track here (specifically 2014’s “DM”) and a hint there for the last few years, PAINTED IN EXILE are officially back with their brand new, first full-length album, The Ordeal, set for release on October 28, 2016.
Pre-orders are available for The Ordealnow via http://paintedinexile.bigcartel.com/.Featuring the band’s signature progressive sound that further melds classic rock, jazz, classical and even hip-hop influences, The Ordeal transcends far beyond what PAINTED IN EXILE has released to date, fully showcasing the band’s gifted and refreshed line-up.
The Ordeal was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Jamie King, who is recognized for his work with bands such as Between the Buried And Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit and other modern progressive metal mainstays. The album was recorded at both Basement Recording Studios in Winston-Salem, NC and The Fidelitorium in Kernersville, NC. Orchestral arrangements on the album were written by Alan Hankers. Additional production and engineering support was provided by PAINTED IN EXILE guitarist Ivan Chopik.
Producer Jamie King states, “This record is a truly great prog rock/metal record. And I’m not just saying that because I was hired to record it. I’m honored to have been a part of it. It will be revered as a classic!”
PAINTED IN EXILE guitarist Ivan Chopik adds, “The ingredients for The Ordeal had been brewing for several years, so we went into the recording process with a specific vision of what we wanted the record to sound like. When the opportunity came up to have Jamie King produce and engineer, it was a resounding ‘Yes’. He’d already worked on some of our favorite albums, so we knew the sonics would be on point. Beyond that, he gave us the environment to stay creative in the studio and pushed us to get our best, real performances. His vision and experience was integral to shaping The Ordeal.”
The Ordeal track listing:
House Of Cards
Welcome (One And Come All)
Not For Nothin’
Like A Memory
The Ordeal was fully crowd-funded due to massive fan support via Indiegogo campaign (the band actually surpassed their goal of $15,000).
