Serpentine Dominion’s Adam Dutkiewicz launches guitar play-through for new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”

Serpentine Dominion‘s Adam Dutkiewicz launches guitar play-through for new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”

Imagine Killswitch Engage at their heaviest, with the immediately recognizable guitar playing of Adam Dutkiewicz, the precision drumming of former The Black Dahlia Murder member Shannon Lucas, and the legendary death metal growl of Cannibal Corpse‘s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher – the result is Serpentine Dominion. After 7 years in the making, this highly anticipated project will finally be releasing their self-titled debut on October 28th via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the album, fans can check out a guitar play-through by Adam Dutkiewicz for the new track, “On the Brink of Devastation”, now: youtube.com | vimeo.com

The first single, “The Vengeance in Me”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/serpentinedominion – where Serpentine Dominion can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

The origins of Serpentine Dominioncan be traced back to 2009’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which boasted a line-up that includedKillswitch Engage, Cannibal Corpse, and The Black Dahlia Murder. During that fateful summer, Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz made a proposition to Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher: “George, I want to write you a record.” On the Mayhem Fest tour, Shannon Lucas, who performed with The Black Dahlia Murder through 2012, was tapped to record drums on the album. Between 2009 and 2016,Cannibal Corpse and Killswitch Engage released three albums each, so scheduling time to work on Serpentine Dominion was no easy feat – but when their rigorous schedules allowed, Serpentine Dominion began to come together, with Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach penning the lyrics, which touch on corruption within the government, religion, big business, and other timely issues. Ultimately, though, this debut is a pure passion project; it was written and recorded simply for why musicians get into music in the first place: fun.

Produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation), Proponent for Sentience is a musically complex, intelligent, and absorbing concept record that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the medium. With a lyrical arc rooted in science-fiction yet uncomfortably encroaching upon the reality of the present, it captures the Fort Collins, Colorado natives at their most ambitious and accomplished, pushing the boundaries even further than on their three previous critically acclaimed full-lengths. Allegaeon launches “All Hail Science” performance video online

On September 23rd, melodic death metal outfit Allegaeon will be releasing their fourth full-length, Proponent for Sentience, via Metal Blade Records. Today, the band has launched a performance video for the new album track, “All Hail Science”, which was shot at Black Sky Brewery in Denver, Colorado during the recording of Proponent for Sentience earlier this year. To watch the video, please visit: youtube.com or vimeo.com

Allegaeon‘s Greg Burgess (guitar) comments: “We had the great pleasure of being allowed to shoot ‘All Hail Science’ at Black Sky Brewery here in Denver. We have a great selection of metal bars here and Black Sky is by far my favorite. It has such a friendly atmosphere and the staff and owners are so supportive of our local scene. Basically Black Sky let us throw a free show/party for anyone who wanted to show up. It’s pretty apparent from the video, but we had a blast that day. Huge thanks to Black Sky for their hospitality, SSS Productions for running sound and lights, Vince Edwards from Metal Blade for filming us being dumb, and the fans who showed up to party!”

Whitechapel recently completed an extensive trek across the USA on the annual Warped Tour, touring in support of their sixth full-length, Mark of the Blade. Hailed as “an exciting milestone” (Alt Press), Mark of the Blade was produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse) and sees Whitechapel redefine who they are and what they are capable of with the resulting 11 tracks. Kicking off with “The Void” – which has a Slayer-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band’s three-guitar attack – the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on “Decennium” bring the record to a close, it’s impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. Alex Wade explains, “At this point in our career and as we grow older, we are taking a more open-minded approach to creating our music, allowing what we think sounds good to evolve naturally, rather than to just write what is expected of us.”

Volbeat Seals The Deal and Boogies with Killswitch Engage in Pittsburgh

The States have been fortunate as of late, having Danish “metalbilly” band Volbeat tour here with some stalwart bands.  Last time around it was Anthrax and Crobot and the current tour is with Killswitch Engage and Black Wizard.  Volbeat’s current line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Rob Caggiano, drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen and they have a rep for bringing the goods.  Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie was released worldwide on June 3 and their sixth record is one of their strongest starting off with singles, “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” and “For Evigt” (Forever) or the English version”The Bliss”.  Pittsburgh’s show at Stage AE was exceptional and there was a great blend of old and new material to entertain fans (see set below). Poulsen was a commanding presence and the acquisition of Anthrax’s Caggiano is certainly the coup of the band’s history.  The new record picks up where  Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies left off and their performance of the new tunes was spot on.

Metalcore act Killswitch Engage returned to Pittsburgh as well after a few years of absence again with lead singer Jesse Leach in tow.  No offense to Howard Jones (in between singer of KSE), but Leach’s return to the fold has made them more entertaining than ever.  Due to the intense heat, the stage antics of Adam Jonathan Dutkiewicz were a bit more subdued than usual, but the intensity was amped to replace the jumping around.  KSE is firing on all cylinders right now and seems to be even more back in the groove than ever before, making them a band to truly watch rise in popularity (if that’s possible).

Vancouver’s Black Wizard opened and brought their brand of doom-stoner metal to the masses.  These guys are definitely onto something as they have a great sound, look, and cool throwback chops.  You can check them out here http://www.blackwizard.org/.
