“‘Never Alone’ is about being trapped in a chaotic time in life and just before it gets worse, A special force pulls you away from the evil in life whether it’s a person, a spirit, or your own self conscious, knowing now you’ll never be alone.

This video tells a story of where I was in life and how a significant other ripped me away from it all and brought me back to life” – Johnny Skulls

“Working with Adrienne Beacco and Jake Jones on this Video was such a blast! Both super creative people who made a lot of our ideas truly come to life! The video was shot in 2 full days with the performance scenes shot on a green screen set we built ourselves, along with the other scenes shot outside where we built the cemetery and dug the grave too, pretty stoked on how everything turned out!” – Dax Dabs

Active Rock Band HYPERDOSE has released the official music video for “Undeniable.” Directed by Adrienne Beacco, “Undeniable” is off of the band’s 2018 released EP, DISASTER.

“It’s Undeniable that there’s an existence that assembles our memories and desires. We connect, attach, & detach continuously. The remnants evolve, devolve, & remain. Can we find a way in? a way out? or does fate make the choice?” – HYPERDOSE

From the traces of the 2016 release of “Impact,” the American Active Rock Band, “HYPERDOSE” has deployed a remarkable sequel. On January 18th, 2018 Hyperdose released the New 2018 EP, entitled, DISASTER, recorded again at Crosstrax Studios in Memphis, TN with Grammy Nominated Producer Justin Rimer (12 StonesSaving AbelWaylandFull-Devil Jacket).

Disaster spawns an animated narrative engaging the listener to the deepest levels of hostility, battle & response. The outset song, “Disaster (Roll with the Punches)” vividly describes our world of defeat and digression, but only to inspire to “Roll with the Punches.” The forefront delivers heated and strong spirited vocals interwoven with shambolic and layered guitar riffs on a pillar of pillaging drums and spine-rattling bass. Each track explores its own panoramic view of emotional encounter.

“Undeniable” hits as a dynamic ballad sure to pierce the hearts and minds of music lovers. Other titles include “Phantom,” “See the Light,” and “Vile,” all of which have great hard rock experimentation and fallback on the meaning of “Hyperdose.” The Debut single entitled, “Take Control” was released April 2015 & features guest vocals from Gabe Aranda of the Modern Act Aranda. The Official Music Video for “Undeniable” is being released September 19, 2019. Adrienne Beacco (Atlanta, GA) was the videographer & editor, with live video being record by Harry Reese (Shiner, TX).

Hyperdose is:
Ben Rivera: Vocals
Blake Mattea: Guitars
Justin Mattea: Bass
Angel Delgado: Drums

All songs written and performed by Hyperdose & Justin Rimer.

Spearfish, SD based electronic alternative rock act Blacklite District has released the official music video for “Hard Pill to Swallow,” the lead single off of their upcoming 4th album, Through the Ages. Originally premiered on Billboard, “Hard Pill to Swallow” was filmed outside the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center in Anaheim, CA by DZFX Media.

“We worked with DZFX Media in Southern California on the video. I literally ran into him at Guitar Center while I was picking up something for our studio sessions for the new album. We started talking right there at the counter and ended up shooting three videos that week, with ‘Hard Pill to Swallow’ being the first.” – Kyle Pfeiffer

Blacklite District has experienced a meteoric rise over the past several months, with their YouTube following edging near 100,000 in less than a year and their wildly popular Minecraft videos–“Cold As Ice” and “The Struggle”–garnering around 70 million views cumulatively. Says Kyle, “I work with multiple major YouTube channels that promote my music to a huge worldwide audience. It’s been amazing as an independent artist of this generation to reach an audience of this size.” As a result of their rapidly expanding youth audience, the duo has seen incredible online sales and Spotify streams and playlistings, as well as significant Mainstream Rock Songs Billboard charting.

Blacklite District follows no rules. With sounds of everything from electronic, EDM and hip hop, to hard rock and alternative, the band truly stands out from the pack of what has becomes today’s generic sounding “Active Rock”. Formed in 2012 by Kyle Pfeiffer and Roman James, ages 12 and 11 respectively, the band grew organically in their local music scene through the years to come. In 2011, BLD was discovered by Grammy Award-winning producer, Stephen Short (Paul McCartney, Queen), which resulted in a 10 day recording session at the world’s largest residential recording studio, Sonic Ranch, just outside of Mexico in Tonillo, TX. The group re-located to Los Angeles and played some of the most famous venues in the world for the remainder of 2011.

In 2013, the group released “With Me Now” as the lead from it’s debut album Worldwide Controversy. “With Me Now” immediately went to #1 on SiriusXM channels Octane and Faction, hit the Top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart (#32), and sold 100,000 copies. BLD went on a very successful US tour with Saving Abel in Jan-Apr 2014, with 26 of those shows SOLD OUT. After a legal battle with their management and record label, Blacklite District went on hiatus in late 2014.

On August 23, “The Struggle” was release to radio and To Whom It May Concern went for pre-order at digital retailers. Revolver Magazine premiered the music video for “The Struggle” on August 25. The band also announced a 41 date tour called “The Struggle Is Real Tour”. Blacklite District released a Nightcore remix of “The Struggle” to YouTube on September 6, which got over 2,000,000 plays and resulted in the single breaking the Top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Indicator chart at #36.

One month later, on October 6, the group released a Nightcore remix of “We Are The Danger” which got over 400,000 plays on YouTube. A couple of weeks later, the band released “Broken Souls” to radio, as well as a Nightcore remix which resulted in 500,000 plays and hitting #30 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator. This was the second song in the month of October to break the Top 40 (along with “The Struggle.”)

“The Ghost of You and Me” was released as a music video and a Nightcore remix on December 28, 2016. The song was yet again a success for Blacklite District resulting in 400,000.

On January 20, 2017, BLD released “Living In A Nightmare” as the first single from upcoming album Instant Gratification. With a coinciding Nightcore release, “Living In A Nightmare” broke the Top 25 on the BDS Indicator chart, marking the bands highest spot in chart history. The song has been streamed over 250,000 times.

On February 24, famed radio DJ Lou Brutus posted the bands video for “Cold As Ice”, which was released the same day. The song scored a whopping 350,000 streams in its first week alone, and as of May 2017, has over 3.5 million combined views on YouTube. “Cold As Ice” serves as the second single from Instant Gratification. In the summer of 2017, “Cold As Ice” was added to Spotify’s “Rock Hard” playlist, and was put into rotation on SiriusXM’s alternative channel Faction. In October, “Cold As Ice” was added to rotation on SiriusXM Octane, and it’s Minecraft music video has over 10 million views on YouTube. There are about 4 videos about a Herobrine invasion with zombies and “nether watchers” and how the main character, a player in a blue suit, survives. There are 4 songs in total in the order of The Struggle, Cold as Ice, We are the Danger (possibly not from Blacklite District), and Just so you Know.

Blacklite District released their third album Instant Gratification on September 22, going Top 10 on Amazon’s Top Electronic Albums chart.

Concert Review: A Perfect Circle at Peterson Events Center Pittsburgh

Maybe it was fitting that A Perfect Circle returned to The Steel City amidst the high academia setting of The University of Pittsburgh.  The last time this writer was able to witness them, they were a very different incarnation of the band (including Paz Lenchantin (Pixies) on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen (Failure/QOTSA) on guitar, and Josh Freese (NIN) on drums), as they played Beaver County Community College (CCBC) with their first release in 1999.  For a band that only has three records to date, they still command quite a crowd, largely in part due to the elusive frontman Maynard James Keenan most well known as the singer of TOOL.

Opening with “The Package” from their second effort, Thirteenth Step, the band wasted no time in performing familiar territory.  Set behind a gauze-like screen, the band’s silhouettes shown larger than life while projected from the rear through bright lighting.  The dark imagery would continue thematically throughout the evening even as the screen came down for “The Hollow” from Mer de Noms.   The crowd mainly was mainly subdued by the atmospheric music and dark lighting overall.  But they certainly came alive when certain songs were played or when the long blond wigged Maynard, never leaving his podium and partially hidden in dark shadow, set well behind the stage, had a few humorous words to interject.

APC went back to The Thirteenth Step (a reference to the 12 step program) by playing “The Noose”, an offbeat harmony set against haunting melodies and “Weak and Powerless”, a metaphor for overcoming whatever addictions we may face.  Billy Howerdel‘s guitar work creates the signature of the bands sound, at once TOOL-like, yet distinct enough on its own to distinguish from Adam Jones.  The intensity continued into “The Rose”, a song with grinding guitar yet eerie effects that is disturbing and thrilling in the same moment.  APC then went into a John Lennon cover of “Imagine” that deconstructed the tune and reworked it into a very different somber form.  The band also covered Depeche Mode’s “People Are People” a few songs later.

“Magdalena” and “3 Libras” and new tune “Hourlglass” provided quite a bit of entertainment, not only with James Iha (formerly Smashing Pumpkins) pulling double duty throughout the evening playing rhythm guitar and keys but also the stellar guitar work of Howerdel.  Maynard seemed in a particularly good mood, joking about quite a few things, including the wafts of marijuana smoke (interjected into lyrics) and then getting the munchies from said smoke, causing him to do something this writer has never witnessed in a show.  I’ve seen lead singers drink from various bottles, smoke illegal substances, make out with fans, suck down oxygen between songs, and spray their throats to keep them lubricated, but I have never seen a singer eat popcorn on stage.  Not only that, Maynard continued to eat the popcorn for roughly three songs, very openly, and with zero effect on his abilities.  The other odd bit of the night was James Iha’s intro to “The Outsider” complete with cheesy jokes ala a Vegas lounge act.

The best moment of the show had to be the powerful Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums.  The song from eMOTIVE, built off of two chords and a surging rhythm, is a heavy and creepy spinoff of the song “Pet” from Thirteenth Step that explores control, be it from drugs, political factors, or other manipulative factors.

Maynard promised a new release in 2018 much to the chagrin of the audience, no word as to if they will tour with the record.  With all of Maynard’s projects including making wine, Puscifer, and the off chance of hell freezing over and a new release from TOOL, it is anybody’s guess. (set list courtesy of Setlist.fm at bottom)

A Perfect Circle, who recently released “The Doomed,” the first new music to be heard from the band’s expected 2018 album, return with an accompanying video for the “apocalyptic” (Rolling Stone) track: http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVideo.

The video, which was directed by Jeremy Danger and Travis Shinn, arrives as the band is in the final two weeks of their North American tour. A Perfect Circle also recently announced their first European tour in fourteen years (dates below).

Upon arrival of “The Doomed” (http://smarturl.it/TheDoomedVevo), Maynard James Keenan said: “Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVeA new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”

“Years of life experience has brought our music to this moment,” offered Billy Howerdel. “We know where we came from. Deeply connected to the path we’re on.”

A Perfect Circle have signed a worldwide recording deal with BMG and are working with producer Dave Sardy on the follow-up to 2004’s eMOTIVe.

The new face of active rock, Citizen Zero is here to stay. They released their debut State of Mind in August and their single “Go (Let Me Save You)” is currently charting on Active Rock Charts.
They represent the faceless citizen. It’s the everyday person no better than anyone. All their songs they write are about the experiences they have faced as a band.

SABATON Prepares for Battle – U.S. Tour with Trivium and Huntress/Pittsburgh date 10/10 @StageAE

Introducing New Guitarist Tommy Johansson

New Album The Last Stand Out Now via Nuclear Blast

In just three weeks, Swedish metal favorites SABATON – recognized globally by fans for their unique brand of historical battle-themed metal – will return to the United States for the 2016 “Silence In The Snow” Fall Tour with headliners Trivium and fellow special guest Huntress. This is a can’t-miss line-up! The tour begins on September 15 in Columbus, OH and comes to a close on October 21 st in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Pick up your tickets via www.sabaton.net/tour and see below for all current tour dates.
These dates will be the first time U.S. fans get to see SABATON performing with their new guitarist Tommy Johansson. The band issued a statement yesterday regarding the departure of their former guitarist Thobbe En glund and the addition of Johansson: “Thank you Thobbe, welcome Tommy! Our guitar player Thobbe did his final concert with us on last Saturday’s very emotional show at the SABATON OPEN AIR festival. Celebrating the release of our new album while saying goodbye to a great friend is lots of mixed feelings. But the future is bright since this was not nearly our last stand, from now on you will see Tommy Johansson playing guitars with SABATON and we all look forward to see you on the road!”
Johansson added:“For me to be a part of the SABATON family is a huge honor and I couldn’t be happier! The guys are awesome and among the nicest people you can meet. I’ve been following SABATON since 2005 when I saw them live for the first time and I have loved the band ever since, so when they asked me to join there was no hesitation. Although, they did ask me already back in 2012 but for many personal reasons it was not a good time for me to hit the road and give everything that was needed to the band. So I declined, but we have stayed in touch since then. I also want to say that Thobbe is a great guitarist and such a wonderful guy! My job is not to replace him, it’s to contribute to the band with my own style of guitar playing but of course also to keep his fans happy by playing his wonderful solos with pride. I look forward to meet you all on tour and to do what I love the most in life – to play heavy metal!”
Last Friday, August 19, SABATON released their latest album The Last Stand via Nuclear Blast. You can order your copy of the heavy metal masterpiece now in various physical formats, or digitally. For fans who want a little extra, don’t miss the “Tank Edition”.

About SABATON:
Formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999, SABATON is best known for singing almost exclusively about historical wars and battles, a direction the band members decided to take on after watching the 1999 Academy Award-winning film Saving Private Ryan. The band thoroughly researches their topics to ensure the songs paint accurate and objective portraits of the historical event they’re singing about, which are narrated from an omniscient point-of-view or in first-person as a soldier caught in the line of fire.  Like their home country of Sweden,SABATON aims to remain politically neutral in their role as musical war historians.SABATON have reached their unshaken position as heavy metal’s AAA-torchbearer after releasing ingenious studio recordings and playing endless amount of unforgettable live shows. The Last Stand is another unquestionable and bulletproof evidence of SABATON‘s top class abilities and it will be followed by the band’s most gigantic world tour to date.
