The inaugural Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit,happening Friday, October 25-Sunday, October 27 throughout downtown Asheville, is just around the corner! After announcing the outstanding, finalized lineup (included below), AC Entertainment is ready to share some more of what they have in store for attendees via two very special discussions taking place at the Diana Wortham Theatre on Saturday, October 26th – the Inventors’ Roundtable and an Artist Spotlight: An Interview with Gary Numan. A detailed description of both is below. Access will be limited to Mountain Oasis pass and ticket holders only; there is no additional charge to attend.

 

The festival’s schedule and a slew of other activities, including workshopsart installations and more, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Some of the most forward-thinking minds in the industry come together to discuss their projects, past and present, and the mark they’ve made on the burgeoning and ever-evolving world of electronic music. Moderated by Matthew Sherwood of Make Noise and Sherwood’s Music (builder of custom amplifiers), the Inventors’ Roundtable will feature participants including Paul Vo (inventor of the Moog Guitar and Vo-96 acoustic synthesizer, http://paulvomusic.com/), Richard Devine (electronic musician and sound designer, http://www.richard-devine.com/), Tony Rolando (founder of Make Noise,http://www.makenoisemusic.com/) and August Worley (inventor of the Pyradym,http://www.augustara.com/).

From his early days with Tubeway Army to his upcoming album, Splinter, the panel will cover Gary Numan’s expansive career, his influences, and what we can expect from the pioneer in the future. The interview will be conducted by Geary Yelton of Electronic Musician Magazine.

April 30, 2013 – Asheville, NC – AC Entertainment is proud to announce the initial line up for the 2013 Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, slated for the weekend of October 25 – 27 in beautiful downtownAsheville, NCNine Inch NailsBassnectar, and Pretty Lights will headline the three-day weekend, which also will feature a performance by Neutral Milk Hotel, who have not played live since 1998. Additionally, Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum is curating the night of music surrounding the band’s performance, including special guests Daniel Johnston and Half Japanese.

 

Other artists confirmed for this year’s initial Mountain Oasis 2013 line up: the avant-rock Animal Collective,Trent Reznor‘s new project How To Destroy Angels, electronic rock legend Gary Numan, Montreal-based post-rock visionaries Godspeed You! Black Emperor, producer/rapper and “trip hop” pioneer Tricky, the powerful collaboration between Zola Jesus and JG Thirwell which debuted last spring at the Guggenheim Museum, electro-pop diva Jessie Ware, legendary electro-producer The Bug, and electronica pioneers Silver Apples along with a vital sampling of who’s who of the new wave in electronica including DisclosureRustie,ChromaticsRobert DeLongJacques Greene, and Bondax.

 

Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks, with some 50 – 60 artists slated to perform in October.
