Violetness Remix Premiere on Interview Magazine
San Fermin features 17 tracks that are strongly influenced by Ellis Ludwig-Leone’s  unique background in classical music, which includes a job assisting composer/arranger Nico Muhly, and fittingly features instrumentalists from the likes of Bon IveryMusic, and Asphalt Orchestra.
After finishing his musical studies at Yale, Ludwig-Leone wrote San Fermin in six weeks while holed up in a studio on the mountainous border between Alberta and British Columbia. Pulling inspiration from Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, Ludwig-Leone conceived the album as a dialogue between an earnest, unhappy man and a cynical, elusive woman. Upon his return, he enlisted the help of longtime friend and vocalist Allen Tate as well as female vocalists Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe from the band Lucius to give voices to the characters he developed.

PINKISH BLACK set to release Razed to the Ground

Los Angeles, CA – “Lots of good, lots of bad…” is one way to describe Pinkish Black‘s star-crossed career thus far. Their first incarnation arose in Fort Worth, TX, when 2005 saw a trio of like-minded souls connect under the banner of The Great Tyrant and set about hewing a new definition for the word “heavy.” Following the tragic passing of original bass player Tommy Atkins, the remaining duo forged ahead, morphing into an even darker macabre entity. Now comprised of drummer Jon Teague and Daron Beck on vocals and synthesizer, the band go under the new moniker Pinkish Black.

“Jon and I have been playing music for over 2 decades,” Beck comments. “The whole process of getting to this point in our lives and our music has been very much a repeating cycle of building to inevitably tear down to build again to tear down and so on… it’s how all life is. Building, destroying, building, destroying…”

‘Razed to the Ground’ was recorded and mixed by the band and Matt Bernhart at The Echo Lab, and was mastered to ominous perfection by James Plotkin. The songs themselves pierce the same vein as the band’s earlier material; death rock, post-punk, doom, and electronic elements slither over and under one another.

“thick, powerful thuds, with rubber band-like distorted bass from a keyboard growling between dynamic drums, teasing synthesizer lines, and vocals that push between operatic majesty and guttural infamy.”

Be forewarned: ‘Razed to the Ground’ will see a September 17 release date from Century Media Records.  Check out the album cover and track listing:

WATAIN announces North American headlining tour with IN SOLITUDE, TRIBULATION

With the release of their forthcoming full-length, The Wild Hunt, drawing near, Swedish black metallers WATAIN are now ready to announce their first North American tour in support of the album. Featuring IN SOLITUDE and TRIBULATION as support, this month-long headlining trek (aptly named “The Wild Hunt North America”) showcases some of Sweden’s finest metal from coast to coast. See below for all upcoming dates.

WATAIN comments: “Starting the first full tour for ‘The Wild Hunt’ in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness…A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of WATAIN.”

Graveface Records announces Indiegogo fundraiser

Graveface Records launches fundraising effort with Indiegogo

Rare and recovered vinyl, test pressings, oddities, and more.

Graveface Records launched an Indiegogo fundraiser today in an effort to recoup money lost due to a basement flooding that destroyed an unspeakable amount of Graveface stock and the subsequent (very expensive) legal battle with the distributor who despite being contractually obligated to have insurance covering such disasters, in fact had none.A sad story, yes?

Three years of court dates later, Graveface Records eventually was awarded the recovered stock from the flood, which is now being made available for purchase, along with lots of other fun Graveface goodies.

With 20 tiers of “perks” (and more to come), you’ll find everything from MP3s and CDs to rare and unreleased vinyl to handmade “Ouija” style talking boards. Additionally, the new Marshmellow Ghosts Halloween album will be available exclusivelythrough this fundraiser.

Head on over to Indiegogo for lots more information and please help us spread the word by sharing the news with your readers.

Tor Miller is a 19 year old New York City native who spends his days attending NYU and his nights performing in legendary venues like The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall and The Slipper Room among others. Tor’s distinct voice has landed him gigs as far from home as London, where his i-Phone recorded tune “Hold The Phone” received a much coveted play as the “Next Hype” on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show. Support from Radio 1 is just the beginning of Tor’s international exposure, the much respected John Kennedy of London’s XFM has also begun putting Tor Miller records into rotation. 2013 has been a jam packed year so far and there are no signs of Tor Miller slowing his momentum anytime soon.

Debut Album Full Blast Fuckery Out Now!

The FUCKERY has taken hold and people all over are singing the praises of WILSON.  Their debut album Full Blast Fuckery is available now and the band will be touring across the country in support of it.  If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, what the fuck are you waiting for?  Order it right HERE.Today WILSON has teamed up with Crave Online for an exclusive premiere of their video for “College Gangbang”.  The video was made by Detroit filmmakers Nick Ferguson and Raymond Rivard, who recently joined forces under the name Club Davison.  The video was filmed at the legendary Metal Frat in Ann Arbor, MI.

Frontman Chad Nicefield gave a rather long quote about the video; see if you can make it through.  (If you do, the video link is below it)…

“We are very excited to unleash our debut debaucherous music video for “College Gangbang” the 1st single off our brand spanking new album Full Blast Fuckery.

At a time when bands and fans alike are riddled with bad attitudes and overly stale states of mind, we over here at the WILSON camp have been training, preparing and formulating the correct way to adjust those attitudes.

We have enlisted a hero of epic proportions to turn these party frowns upside down. A man so hell-bent on making sure your life’s inner soiree is celebrated that he is even willing to kill for you. A man built so well endowed that any female that steps foot into his presence will surely be brought to her knees in pure ecstasy. A man so party that John Belushi himself came back from the grave just to stare into the eyes of a man more worthy. An enigma of a man so full of pure adulterating good times that Macaulay Culkin literally stepped down from his role in Party Monster 2 to hand over the baton. A TRUE hero of our times.

So grab your lady (ladies) or your man (men), a bong and your favorite 40oz of malt liquor and Experience The Gangbang.”

Check out the exclusive video premiere HERE.
In support of their new album WILSON is ready to bring the FUCKERY back out on the road. WILSON will team up with The Greenery for a co-headlining North American Tour billed as the “Pillage and Destroy” tour. WILSON are five dudes in a van with beards and big dicks- working harder than your parents.  But instead of giving their all as stockbrokers or auto-mechanics or assistant branch managers their job is to destroy your party.  When that WILSON van cruises into your town that shit is REAL. Real MUSIC. Real LIFE. Real LOUD. Real SWEATY. And real fucking FUN.

They’ll never quit on you.  And that’s real talk. That’s FUCKERY. And that’s WILSON.

NOTHNEGAL Unveils New Sea Demon-Themed Track ‘Rannamaari’ with

Maldivian melodic heavy metal band NOTHNEGAL and have just unleashed a brand new, exclusive track cut from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP, entitled ‘Rannamaari’. The track delves into the folklore theme of the EP, more specifically, sea demon folklore. Check out the track at this location.

“This track is about a mythical sea serpent which seeks a virgin as a sacrifice every full moon. The people of the islands are led to believe this but the truth is that the king is the one seeking these virgins while making the people believe otherwise. Rannamaari is the name of this serpent,” explains guitarist Hilarl.

NOTHNEGAL and their international label Season of Mist will release band’s upcoming experimental self-titled EP in North America on August 6, 2013. The EP is out today in all other territories. You can pre-order in North America here, and order internationally here.

About the Song:

The multi-talented Stereo Crew serves you another freebie in promotion of their upcoming, August 13th album release “Carz, Clubz & Theaterz”. Every thursday until the release, the Crew drops a newly recorded, free song on their Bandcamp page

The third song “Bruce Wayne’s Heart Theme” was produced by Stereo Boyz’ member Mixo aka Applauze Beetz. Contrary to the last drop “Big Dreams” this song has a darker feel, with a futuristic sounding beat, reminiscent of video game soundtracks.

Stereo Crew members Mic Audio, Mixo, Vinnie Bazz, Brand New and Kid Boombox lend thoughtful lyrics, sometimes melancholic, but also optimistic.

Mixo says: “Our upbringing & the trials of where we are from (Detroit/Chicago) have made us heroes in a sense. Like Bruce Wayne, we go from from living with the people to also living for the people & with great power comes responsibility that most people refuse to accept or really stand up for what they believe in. We are trying to inspire who we can & serve Poetic Justice.”

For me, Crocodiles represent everything I love about life-affirming Rock’n’Roll:  they bring light out of darkness; they match reckless noise with the most beautiful melodies; they catch you off guard whilst sounding like the most perfect kind of right for the right here, right now.

They remind me of all the things I’ve loved but they also make me hungry for what I’ve not yet tasted.  The claustrophobia and pain of the recent past is dealt with bravely and the road ahead is wide and open.  It is all my favorite records playing at once; the trick to it being the truth; the truth being that great, life-affirming music must be bittersweet; anger is an energy that can be churned to positive.

We who face the demons of derailment out to destroy dreams must harness the hate and turn it back on itself — it is from this that great art is begat.  And so these songs rage and chime at once, in organized chaos, like life.

Charles and Brandon have been making music together since they were 18.  They met in the dirty glow of San Diego sun and now split their lives between New York City and London.  Their music has grown up over the last decade just as they have. New blood in the form of producer Sune Rose Wagner of Raveonettes fame oversaw this recent endeavor and it was a quick, natural Los Angeles creation. Duncan Mills mixed for the third time, to maintain their catalogue lifeline.

Crimes Of Passion kicks off with “I Like It In The Dark,” which could be their best to date; a joyous hymn to atheism and closes with the aching beauty of “Un Chant D’Amour,” a simple and direct ode to heartbreak. These songs bookmark an album bursting with sounds inspired by the likes of the Soft Boys, Street Hassle era Lou Reed, the Notorious Byrd Brothers, the Jackson 5 and even Glenn Branca. This is certainly the most fully realised Crocodiles album to date.

It is a sadly accepted impression that life is cooler in song, on screen, in art, or in poetry, but it is far superior when the creative process is fed back into real life and an album like Crimes Of Passion is born.

August 2, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) – UK Progressive rock band TesseracT will be returning to North America for two tours!  First the band will hit the road with Katatonia, Cult of Luna and Intronaut.  That tour begins September 23rd in Boston, MA and runs through October 7th in San Francisco, CA.

Immediately following their dates with Katatonia, TesseracT has announced a headline tour with support being provided by Scale the Summit and Anciients.  These shows kick off October 9thand Vancouver and are currently set to wrap on October 27th in Greensboro, NC.  More dates may be added in the coming weeks.

The band commented on their return to this side of the pond:

“North America! We’re coming back. And for not 1, but 2 tours back to back. We’ve all been missing Cracker Barrel, and Timmy Ho’s, so it’s with great pleasure that we can announce that we will be touring your fair lands again. Ever since the first tour we did with DTP way back when Ashe was called Dan, you guys have always been so cool to us. A lot has changed since then, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been showing the Europeans for the past year. Firstly we’ll be on tour with Katatonia, Cult of Luna, and Intronaut, as part of the Uncrowned and Vertikal tour. This will be an intense evening of dark powerful prog. It’s so cool to be apart of this bill as all 4 bands create a completely different yet compatible atmosphere. Then we’ll start the Altered State tour, where we’ll have support from Scale The Summit and Anciients. Two bands that stretch progressive music to its limits. All of this is great, but you know the best bit…French Toast. Everyday for 5 weeks. Maple Syrup. Bacon. TubberacT.”

TesseracT‘s latest release Altered State came out earlier this year on Century Media Records.  The entering the Billboard Top 200 Chart at #94 as well as #88 on the Billboard Top Current Albums Chart and #4 on the Hard Music Chart.

A video for the song “Singularity” can be viewed HERE.

Altered State‘ is divided into four movements: Of MatterOf MindOf Reality and Of Energy,Altered State‘ represents the transformations that TESSERACT has gone through over the past few years.  The Law of Conservation of Energy states that: In a closed system energy is conserved, nothing is lost. It merely changes from one state to another.

Altered State was produced, mixed, mastered and engineered by TESSERACT guitarist, Acle Kahney, assisted by bassist, Amos Williams at Acle’s 4D Sounds studio, and marks the first full release with new vocalist, Ashe O’Hara.

2. Drone
3. Fight
4. Clean
5. Lex Vision
6. I’m Forgetting
7. Screams
8. Iron Black
9. Always
10. Transmuting

Praise For Heaven’s Gate:

“The details are wonderful; especially the guitar work which jumps between fuzzy chaos and dark clarity, but it’s all tied together by front-woman Jess Paps and her incredible voice. At the best moments in “Drone,” she takes the common “wordless vocals,”trend so often associated with shoegaze and makes it sound muscular and brutally aggressive. There is nothing you would call a coo here; Paps is not fucking around. ” -–Stereogum

“Paps’ sharp-tongued twang lends fiery credence” — Spin

“Armed with ragged, airsick guitars, this self dubbed “powergaze” quintet from Brooklyn hurtle forward at an impressive rate” — NME

“Somewhere between noisey motorik and jangly pop-punk, these Brooklyn spazzes layer on the heavy, bawdy shit-gaze we’ve fallen in love with over and over…and over.”–Impose

“Brooklyn has some new badasses, and their name is Heaven’s Gate” –Noisey

“[Heaven’s Gate] acknowledges that the best kind of shoegaze melts dreamy vocals (here, at the hand of Jess Paps, who can work her way to gloriously shrill) against a healthy amount of slaying guitars.” — L Magazine

Listen To ‘Drone’ On Stereogum

Transmuting… is the debut LP from Heaven’s Gate. After releasing a 7″ EP on Fire Talk last year, the Brooklyn five-piece will deliver this candy-coated muscle relaxer to your eardrums on September 24, 2013. There are echoes of bands like The Raincoats, My Bloody Valentine, and Wire, but Jess Paps (vocals), Michael Sheffiled (guitar), Alex Cvetovich (bass), Jack Wolf (guitar) and Patrick Stankard (drums) have created a frightening new energy.

Recorded at a house in Englewood, NJ with Scott Andrews, there are an abundance of layers on each track- synths, pianos, experimental electronics, loops, feedback. But the record is also deeply personal; you get a sense of the warmth of the house it was recorded in against a backdrop of an isolated wintertime, when most of the songs were written. There is a feeling that there is no escaping the winter and the album embodies this eerie spatiality.

Transmuting… is about the process of tearing out of symbiosis and moving forward from loss. Raucous punk, polyrhythmic percussion, rich melodies and a wash of buzzsaw effects decorate each track. The songs deal with fading memories, reoccurring nightmares, facing demons, and the exorcism of the self. Piercing and meditative, dissonant and familiar, sparse yet mired, human yet digital; Transmuting serves as the long awaited bridge between the group’s birth and their self-actualization.

FRIGHTWIG… They Matter More Than Ever, So Wake Up!

FRIGHTWIG… They Matter More Than Ever, So Wake Up!

No one gave a shit about her, passed out drunken in your hall

Pissed because she broke your mirror, spilled your Mannitol

You’ll never get your ten bucks now, so really, she’s ahead

If you had her class, you’d be with her real punks are dead.

“Crawford” – FRIGHTWIG

THE WORLD we live in is getting crazier, as conservative America continues to pretend women don’t have rights over their bodies, and brute prejudices continue to try and trample over all the good people.

FRIGHTWIG loves to rock, FRIGHTWIG loves to party, but FRIGHTWIG is also angry. And when FRIGHTWIG gets angry, they speak their mind. And when FRIGHTWIG speaks, people step on board for the un-holiest, yet most righteous, of proper punk rock revivals.

They’ve been busy spreading their live message this year. In San Francisco standing up for Pussy Riot at a City Lights benefit last January! Playing benefits for San Francisco musicians in need. A triumphant Coming Out Of Hibernation hometown headliner at Cafe Du Nord! They are back from two barnstormers in LA with Imperial Teen at the Satellite and the Off Sunset Festival, showing FRIGHTWIG is deliciously prepared for live action.

This year, they’ve also been busy in the studio, recording the EP, HIT RETURN. It’s now mastered and the artwork is in the final stages.

To give a taste of what’s coming, go and soak up their new video of this same song, ‘Crawford’, which deals with the sadder side of their punk rock brethren’s mortality. Catchy, heavy, fuzzy, and underscored by Eric Drew Feldman’s psychedelic keyboard textures; ‘Crawford’ is a superb celebration of fallen loved ones. The video was filmed by Pow Zine (aka Dennis Gonzales) for POW! Productions. Shot with one camera and one iPad during a rehearsal last April 2013 in San Francisco! Shot in about 40 minutes - yes it’s gritty, but so is FRIGHTWIG! Here is the link for the ‘Crawford’ video:

Swedish threesome NONONO, aka lead singer Stina Wappling, and the production duo Astma & Rocwell formed in Stockholm during the spring of 2012, following Stina’s return from Brighton where she had spent three years studying for a degree in psychology – a subject which might have indirectly impacted her songwriting.

The band are currently finishing their debut album, which they describe as “dark and beat-orientated,” for the most part, although the mood will likely improve as the seasons change in Sweden. The aim? “We would really like if someone gets a feeling that they can take from it. We want to make an impact and for people to be touched,” says Michel. “Most importantly, it is going to come from the heart”.

DIDN’T IT RAIN is Laurie’s second album and the follow-up to his celebrated 2011 debut album LET THEM TALK, was a New Orleans blues driven celebration that included guest vocals from Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint and Tom Jones. For DIDN’T IT RAIN, Laurie follows the trajectory of the blues upstream and into the American heartland. It includes songs dating back to early pioneers W.C. Handy (“St Louis Blues”)and Jelly Roll Morton (“I Hate A Man Like You”) to more recent artists such as Dr. John (“Wild Honey“) and Alan Price of The Animals (“Changes”). Produced by LET THEM TALK producer Joe Henry (Allen Toussaint, Bonnie Raitt, Billy Bragg), DIDN’T IT RAIN was recorded at Ocean Way Studio in Los Angeles in January of this year.

On Aug 3rd, PBS will air “Live On The Queen Mary,” an intimate live performance by Laurie with the incomparable Copper Bottom Band filmed — as the title indicates — aboard the historical Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. AUTHOR & PUNISHER: Tour With Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals Begins TODAY!

AUTHOR & PUNISHER: Tour With Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals Begins TODAY!

Today Tristan Shone’s AUTHOR & PUNISHER kicks off the long-anticipated North American live excursion supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. The Technicians Of Distortion Tour will commence this evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma with additional support provided by Warbeast.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER is touring in support of the mammoth Women & Children full-length, released to riotous applause last month via Seventh Rule Recordings. Metal Injection calls the record a “powerful and chilling piece of music,” further elaborating that, “Tristan Shone demonstrates the same talent for crafting harsh yet melodic songs that Trent Reznor possesses; the slavering ugliness and sci-fi horror atmosphere recalls Skinny Puppy; the sparse futurism and twitchy mechanical grind is reminiscent of Gridlock; and Shone, with his homemade electronic contraptions, has to at least be considered a spiritual successor to Einstürzende Neubauten.Art isn’t created in a vacuum, and the fact that AUTHOR & PUNISHER has some things in common with other bands doesn’t diminish that fact that Women & Children is a colossal album.”

Elsewhere, the reactions are equally positive. Stereogum gushes, Shone’s apocalyptic noise blends elements of industrial, doom, and dubstep, and contorts that mass into some chilling, unrecognizable form…,” Sputnik Music commends, “…an all-consuming trip into the realm of mental destruction that amazes with its potent use of musical machinery… Both greatly daring and innovative, the record is destined to be one of the most coveted underground releases of the year,” and HeavyBlogIsHeavy crowns Women & Children, “…a remarkably bleak and sinister record that explores the depressive and psychedelic in entirely new ways.” MetalSucks likens the AUTHOR & PUNISHER live ritual “extremely loud, bass-heavy, powerful and industrial, calling to mind Godflesh-gone-‘roidal,” Cvlt Nation christens Shone, “the perfect blend of man and machine; a musical cyborg locked into a rig that is both dark and twisted. Shone crafts a truly dense and unbridled set of doom and drove-inspired music, all of which is accompanied by a visceral, emotionally-rich live performance,” while Pitchfork boasts, “Traces of doom, dubstep, industrial, noise, and honest-to-goodness pop show up within Shone’s best songs. His music is immediate but mysterious, a chimera that’s recognizable but strange.”

Iconoclastic in the truest sense of the word, Tristan Shone inverts the tenets of doom metal completely, relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to sonically replicate the despondency of life. Described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” this one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine. The machines are designed to require significant force from the performer, aligning he/she with the plodding doom-influenced sounds that are created.

Whitechapel to tour with GWAR this Fall

Whitechapel is primed to hit the road with GWAR starting this October.

Masters of medieval metal, the mighty GWAR, are poised to return to the world of man as today they announced the first leg of their massive “Madness at the Core of Time” world tour, in support of their new album, Battle Maximus, which is out September 17th on Metal Blade Records. The tour, which features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims, is set to kick offOctober 2nd in Columbus, Ohio and runs through November 17th in Washington, DC. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 2nd.

Overlord Oderus Urungus allowed Whitechapel guitarist Alex Wade to comment on the tour:

”We’re extremely excited to announce that we will be direct supporting the almighty GWAR this fall.  The tour will be hitting some spots we haven’t been in a while and we’re looking forward to having a blast on tour with them so come out and get GWAR’ed with us!”

Of course Oderus had more to say (when doesn’t he?):

“Let me make something perfectly clear. DON’T commit suicide if your city/country/collection of mud-huts isn’t on the list. We can’t play every city in the world in one tour, as much as we would like to. There will be a whole year or more of shows in support of Battle Maximus, so either be patient, or take a fucking road trip!”

“Pop Music: Ten Albums to Own in 2013” – Earbuddy

Singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Tessa Rose Jackson may only be 20 years old, but she has already built quite the reputation for herself, winning over audiences and critics alike worldwide with her smart and heartfelt songwriting. In addition to playing sold-out shows in Amsterdam, the Dutch songstress has taken over the radio airwaves with “Lost and Found” in high rotation on the largest Dutch radio station, and performed live on the most popular late-night TV show.

“Lost and Found” was first featured as the iTunes US Single of the Week in May, ahead of the release of her debut album, (Songs From) The Sandbox, on April 5. The track is a delightfully catchy, pop-infused tune replete with rich harmonies, handclaps and swirling layers of instrumentation – and the video does not disappoint either. You can watch “Lost and Found”now on YouTube, and we encourage you to post and share! (Songs From) The Sandbox is now available via iTunes.

Influenced both by the music she grew up listening to (The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys) and by her time at the BRIT School in London (home to fellow artists Adele and Kate Nash), Jackson describes her music as a “more accessible Feist and a slightly poppier Fleet Foxes, with a nod to Ray Lamontagne and a bit of Edward Sharpe.”

(Songs From) The Sandbox opens with the instantly captivating “Stepping Stone,” a track with toe-tapping rhythm and light, airy vocals and that premiered with American Songwriter (seeHERE). “Change Time,” which was featured in a popular IKEA TV spot and is currently used in a LG ad in Brazil, is bursting with frenetic energy, both from Tessa Rose’s galloping vocals and a lively, bouncing beat. The slower, dreamy “405” on the other hand reels the listener in with its shimmering facets and its emotional depth.

In your face power as well as the California Groove sound the band pioneered.

DEVILDRIVER has always been a band on a three-pronged mission: Work hard, rock harder, and kick as many asses as possible in the process. The band tours forever and has since its beginnings. Their live performances and circle pits are as legendary as their music.

Coachwhips Announces ‘Hands On The Controls’ Reissue

Out September 3rd on Castle Face Records

Castle-Face Records is proud to announce the release of Hands On The Controls, on vinyl for the very first time, by the late, great sweat-n-fun factory Coachwhips. If you’re unfamiliar, pull up a chair – helmed by John Dwyer (currently of Thee Oh Sees) from 2001-2005, they were fast, nasty, unintelligible, brutally and primally basic. A telephone through a guitar amp, half a drum kit, a shitty Casio organ, and primal speed-trash riffs never sounded so good. Hands On The Controls was their first studio album and criminally never came out on vinyl – we’re here to remedy that. Dwyer has kindly opened the crypt and added 6 never-before released tracks to sweeten the deal, we’ve remastered the tracks for maximum bludgeon, cleaned up the artwork and even added some period photos from his own personal collection. Early ditties like “That Bitch Is Gonna End Up Dead”, “N.Y.C. L.O.V.E.” and my girlfriend’s personal favorite, “Look Into My Eyes When I Come” will leap off of your turntable, do all of your drugs, and will almost certainly get you in trouble. It’s out on Castle-Face September 3rd.
