“At the end of 2020, I had a couple of weeks off and decided to turn my thoughts about this crazy Covid Pandemic into a collection of songs. Everything poured itself out of me during sessions at home and at my studio and hiking in the mountains above Burbank. These songs cover the gamut of emotions from trying to connect with loved ones in the hospital, to feeling disengaged from life, to hoping for a vaccine, to dealing with people wearing masks, to listening to experts and Instagram pundits talk and talk with conflicting messages, to the political landscape that seemed to intensify the harsh political divisions we are seeing in our country these days. Medicine Man hits all of those things.” – LISLE ENGLE

Fiesty One

Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Lisle Engle has been writing and performing for 35 years. He began in the early 80’s, honing his vocal abilities in the local club scene of Savannah with his cover band The Vital Signs. He founded his first original band, The Promise, while attending Boston University. They played many shows on the East Coast, including the Boston clubs The ParadiseThe RatThe Channel, and Bunrattys; as well as NYC dates at China ClubLimelight, and CBGB. After college, The Promise moved to Los Angeles, seeking fame and fortune. They played hundreds of shows all over the city, such as The Whiskey-A-Go-GoClub With No NameEnglish AcidThe Roxy, and Lingerie. The Promise later evolved into a project called HEAD, which got very close to the fabled big record deal but ultimately disbanded when they weren’t picked up.

After a short jaunt to Florida to produce a CDROM project, the world’s first interactive, multimedia concept album, Welcome To The Future, Lisle quickly returned to LA to form a new group including the amazing violinist Dorian Cheah, bass player Giuseppe Patane, and drummer Steve Holmes. They played all over the city and had a residency at the Cat Club for a year on the world famous Sunset Strip. They produced an album, California Miles, which garnered critical success but ended as its members pursued other endeavors.

In the last few years, Lisle has played in several band lineups, including a collaboration with well-known LA producer and studio engineer Matt Gruber, which produced the Mad West album, These Are The Terms. Mad West was about to play their first show when the Covid lockdowns arrived, closing all venues. The project ran out of steam over the interim and Lisle decided to once again strike out on his own with his latest solo endeavor, Medicine Man. Inspired by the events of 2020, Medicine Man is a record of observations of humans experience, the media, science, government, and how the events of the pandemic affected and continue to influence our lives.

Medicine Man contains 7 songs and runs 30 minus in length. It is a high-energy, politically and emotionally charged rock record with amazing lead guitar performances from a group of some of the best players in Los Angeles, including Bill AngarolaReza MoosaviJeff MileyChris Rife and Richard Dugay, as well as a special appearance from Pete Sjostedt, and vocal appearances by Jenny Lobel and Kristen Kohary; keyboard contributions appear courtesy of veteran Hollywood sound designer and synth collector Charles Maynes. The record was produced by Lisle Engle and mastered at The Manor Studios by Matt Vowels of the goth band Black Angel. If you are looking for some rocking new tunes with insight, social commentary, and emotional power; as well as killer rock production and many “guitar hero” level performances, Lisle Engle’s Medicine Man is definitely an album that you should check out for the new year!

Veio melds alt-rock’s anthemic allure to the exhilarating adventurism of prog metal like few before them.

The roots of Veio – a name taken from an ancient Etruscan city – reach back to the childhood musical collaborations of Cam and Brett Byrd (vocals/guitar and drums respectively). The brothers formed Veio after college, with the lineup completed by bassist Kris Lewis 5 years ago. With the 2017 debut album Infinite Light / Desperate Shadows and tireless touring efforts with the likes of Seether, Tremonti, and RED, the band earned legions of loyal fans. The band’s follow up 2020 album, Vitruvian, saw its first single, “Flare of Defiance,” storm the Billboard Rock Chart and entered Active Rock Radio’s Top 30.

Now a part of the revamped Silent Majority Group (Paramore, Creed, Sevendust), Veio’s music is garnering lofty comparisons to the thoughtful, artsy rock of Tool and A Perfect Circle, along with Thrice’s muscular, ultra-authentic optimism and the technical yet tuneful prog metal of Tesseract and Mastodon.

“We’ve always strived to have a unique sound that a mainstream audience can enjoy while still being mainly influenced by prog and metal bands,” Lewis states. “We hope both sides of the spectrum will enjoy the new music.”
Consistently creating soaring, singable material without compromising their love for odd time signatures and challenging polymeters, Veio displays the single-minded talent, passion, and work ethic to remain a chart fixture for years to come.

Toronto Rock Act ‘Wages’ Against The Machine

Toronto, Ontario Alt-Rock band, Cruel Hope, has released their debut single, “Wage Slave” fresh off their EP, I’m Not Sick. The track is a driving, hard rock anthem on an issue in the forefront of many people’s minds these days: the dwindling patience of a working-class who find themselves overworked, underpaid, and hungry – perhaps for something more than what you can find in the grocery store.

Lyrically, the song offers a biting commentary on the issue. “Wage Slave” speaks to the maddening frustration felt by today’s working-class as we are forced into ever-worsening working and living conditions,” says frontman Liam Horrigan. “It also cautions those in power that there is a limit beyond which working people cannot be further exploited and that they will soon reach it.”

Philadelphia’s Loud Love Releases Video For “Heavyweight”

Philadelphia rock band Loud Love has just dropped the official video for their single “Heavyweight”. “The lyrics for “Heavyweight” come from a very personal place,” explains bassist and vocalist Shannon Leeds. “I wrote these lyrics while 8 months pregnant after taking a walk near my home. I ran into a friend who didn’t think I’d be able to continue pursuing my passions with music. I channeled my frustration into these lyrics, hoping to get the point across that a woman shouldn’t be underestimated. Nothing will stand in our way if we are determined to succeed … especially if we pack a heavy punch!

Once the song was finished, Loud Love knew they had something special on their hands. So guitarist and vocalist Vinny Marone edited the song to a highlight reel of professional wrestlers Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker, DMD. “I sent the edit to Thunder Rosa and, she loved it so much that we agreed that the song should be the OFFICIAL Theme Song of her independent wrestling promotion, Mission Pro Wrestling!” says Marone.

The track, which has gone on to win regional awards, was a perfect match for Mission Pro Wrestling.  Shannon’s lyrics of women empowerment blended seamlessly with MPW’s creation as a space for women to be themselves in a safe, healthy, competitive environment in order to showcase their incredible talents. The cover of the single is graced by Thunder Rosa herself, as well as stars of MPW such as La Rosa Negra, Maddie Wrenkowski, Hollidead, Jennacide, and others.

For the video, Loud Love teamed up with R3 Stream, Inc at their amazing facility in Forked River, NJ, and brought along director Rob Shotwell to help put together an incredible music video. “The adrenaline-laced memories from that shoot will always be cherished by every one of us,” says the band. “The atmosphere on set was like being in the throes of a wild electrical storm, but at the same hyper-focused and professional as the entire staff and crew worked hard to film our video.”  Recorded and mixed by  Matt Weber at The Gradwell House Studios and mastered by Dave Downham, “Heavyweight” will be included on Loud Love’s upcoming EP, Survive Anything, due out on Jan 15th, 2022.

Listen to “Heavyweight” now on Spotify or watch the video on YouTube below:

Since 2020, Loud Love has taken the independent music scene in Philadelphia by storm by bridging the gap between local, home-grown artists and mainstream Master Craftsmen & women. Over the course of their first two years, Loud Love has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artists, Rock Legends, classically-trained musicians, and road warriors from around the world.
Their work has gained them notoriety in the indie music scene, scoring regional awards for categories like Best Music Video of 2020, Best Hard Rock Song of 2021 (Heavyweight), and Band of the Year of 2021.

Atlanta’s Fairshake Bring Them Anthem Rock With “High Risk”

Atlanta alternative rock band Fairshake has released their newest single, the emotionally driven modern rock anthem “High Risk”. The song was recorded and mixed by Jeremy Nichols (Dim) at SpaceJockey Sound, with percussion and production from Ben Cato (Dim, The Dangerous Summer).

“High Risk” is the first single from the High Risk LP, releasing in April 2022.  “We have never written a record so fast, but never has there been so much catalyst in a short amount of time,” explains guitarist and vocalist Shayne Goss. “Most of this record was from a very broken, betrayed, angry & suicidal place. Coming to terms with a luckily failed suicide attempt, and realizing the healing that was ahead and how deserving I was of that love & healing.”

Fairshake has also released a video to go along with the single. The band worked with SLPWLKR out of Chicago. “They did an amazing job on bringing the cinematic and trippy vision of the storyline for the music video to life,” says Goss.

The message behind the video is based on a true story. A story that people who struggle with mental and emotional health will know all too well.  “I was inspired to write the script with the symbolism of the Hanged Man in Tarot,” says Goss. “Anyone familiar with this divination modality understands that the Hanged Man isn’t a literal death, but a dead-end to a way of being/perceiving. I believe that we build a tower of a character we call our identity around traumas. So, what happens when our tower falls we finally have to face those deep fears?”

Listen to “High Risk” on Spotify or watch the video on YouTube below:

Fairshake; In this moment you are judgment-free of everyone, especially yourself to learn from past unpleasant experiences and surrender into your highest form.  This never-ending journey with Shayne Goss since 2008 has been accompanied by many talented artists who have shared this vibration over the years.

Fairshake has experienced genre changes as the project has evolved, especially after inducting Tucker Harding and Chase Sammons in the fall of 2017.  The project, coming from emotionally charged singer-songwriter roots with pop melodies, has grown very naturally into the alternative rock, punk, and dare we say “emo” music that we all grew up on and love.

“High Risk” is only the beginning of an excruciatingly beautiful story.  This collection of songs is a perfect way to follow up the band’s previous EP, Sitcom (April 2020) featuring the Vocal premier of Lead Guitarist, Tucker Harding.

The track is being released under the banner of Wes Hoffman & Friends and features Émilie Plamondon on vocals. “This song is about losing people in your life and having to carry on without them,” says Hoffman. “We had a great experience working once again with Gabe Usery at Encapsulated Studios and we’re thankful to have had Émilie Plamondon lend us her voice for the bridge and final chorus. It’s an emotional, energetic song and a blast to play live!”

It’s all about believing that we all have the ability to rewrite our own story.”

Hoffman, who also runs a popular Instagram account and podcast that highlights the local scene in St. Louis, called 314 Punk, has released a video to go along with the single. “This is a mini-documentary about our first show back since taking a break because of the global pandemic. Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Singer-Songwriter Releases “Redefining Perfect”

Los Angeles-based @ Little Spiral @ has released her newest single, “Redefining Perfect”.  The song itself was written over four years ago, but singer-songwriter Suzanne Yada, who performs under the stage name @ Little Spiral @, has been waiting for the perfect time to release it

“I wrote this song with body positivity and LGBTQ+ acceptance in mind, but it’s really for anyone who struggles with who they see in the mirror. We’ve all inherited someone else’s idea of what perfection is, and this song gives us an opportunity to define it for ourselves,” she explains. “I had a friend in the film industry that was looking for songs about self-acceptance and being comfortable in your own skin. As a plus-size, queer woman, I knew a thing or two about that struggle. I knew I could write something for them.

“Redefining Perfect” has undergone a few iterations before finding its current form. “I wrote it as an upbeat song for the film since that’s what they were looking for.” she explains, “A songwriting friend pointed out that “upbeat” wasn’t this song’s real nature, and that it conveys everything perfectly when stripped down.

The track has taken on a life of its own, often standing out at Yada’s live performances. “Every time I play this song at live shows, audience members would invariably come up to me telling me how much that one song, out of the whole setlist, moved them to tears.” she says, “Every time I let it out of its shell, it speaks to the right people, at the right time, in the exact way they need to hear it.

The track was mixed by Case Newcomb with Yada recording and performing all of the music. To create the right feel, they purposefully turned the metronome off, so some organic imperfections could come through in the music. It is the first released single off of @ Littlte Spiral @’s upcoming EP, Part-Time Agnostic, a 5-track offering out in early 2022. This is her first public EP since 2018, but Yada has released over 45 songs through her Patreon Song Of the Month Club over the last three and a half years.

Year Of The Fist Releases Live At The Ivy Room 7-Inch

It was the most fun we’ve had,  playing live,  to an empty room,”  reminisces Oakland punk rock band Year Of The Fist. The band has just dropped their 4 song, 7-inch vinyl DCxPC Live Vol. 4 Presents Year of the Fist Live at the Ivy Room May 15, 2021. Ivy Room has been Year of the Fist’s East Bay home venue since it was re-established by summer and Lani in 2015.  Over the years they have played countless shows, even throwing their annual “Year of the Fistmas”, non-denominational rock ‘n roll holiday show each December to benefit local charities.  Once venues shut down in 2020, the band decided to put on a virtual Festival of Fistmas for Ivy Room and garnered some of their biggest supporters. “Through the fest we raised some much-needed funds to help them keep the lights on even though the venue had been dark for so many months,” explains the band.

In the Spring of 2021, with the help of the show-going community, some grants from shuttered music festivals, and the desire to continue on, Ivy Room switched on the lights to start broadcasting live stream concerts from their stage.  So for the first time in over a year, the band got a call to perform live.

The announcement of the live stream caught the attention of DCxPC founder Mr. P. ” My love of Squeaky cannot be overstated.  From the first time I saw her on stage at the “Save the Sidebar” show in Baltimore with her old band Girlush Figure to when we most recently reconnected during the Fest of 2019 before the pandemic hit,” says Mr. P. “I saw her “new” to me band, and loved it, not just because she was in it but because it was a killer band with plenty of bangers. So when I saw her band was doing a live stream at the Ivy Room, I was like fuck yeah! And more importantly, would they be fucking willing to put out a 7” of their show with me?”

Of course, Year Of The Fist agreed. Along with the release of the vinyl, the band has released the single “Red Lights Flash” digitally on all major streaming platforms.

Year Of The Fist reaches from Oakland, California where there has been no shortage of great musicians and bands to play with or catch live on any night of the week.  Together their musical backgrounds span all genres, but all have a love for rock and roll.  This has led them to open for a wide spectrum of acts such as L7, Save Ferris, Iron Chic, 88 Fingers Louie, The Vibrators, Legendary Shack Shakers, and Zeke to name a few.  With 10 years under their belt as a band, Year Of The Fist has released two full-length albums, an EP, a handful of singles, has toured regionally as well as internationally, and released several music videos, with no end in sight.  From the studio to the stage Year of the Fist comes out swinging.

Charlotte, NC Hard Rock Band SCARS REMAIN Drops New Track

Hard Rock outfit Scars Remain has just dropped their latest single, “Never Leave“, a radio-ready, riff-heavy track that features a modern rock bounce, a great mixture of singing and screaming, and a sing-along chorus, ready to fill modern rock playlists and concert halls.

Never Leave is a song that really focuses on the questions that arise after ending a relationship,” says the band. “What type of relationship that is is left up to the listener to add their own angle on. Many times we are left with more questions than answers and this song highlights the internal dialogue that takes place in finding closure.

The track was mixed and mastered by Ken Lanyon. The band is also releasing a video for “Never Leave” soon with director Tyler Nottingham. “We were lucky to be able to work with Tyler Nottingham for our second video with him,” says the band. “We wanted an opportunity for our fans and people close with us to be featured and give a glimpse of a typical show day and hanging with our people. Tyler Does an excellent job of capturing these moments and capturing some of the best moments of a Scars live performance.”

Scars Remain is a Hard Rock band from Charlotte, NC. Even with plenty of experience under their belts, they still play with the same energy as when they first got together, continuously solidifying their foothold in the North Carolina scene.

Scars Remain was formed in 2017 by Travis Keziah (Vocals) and Kyle Spidel (Guitar), remnants of previous projects that had dissolved. The chemistry was immediate and was followed by the addition of Andy Allen (Bass) to hold down the low end who had been in projects with Kyle prior.  Fast forward to the latest additions of Neil Jackson (Guitar/Vocals) and Jim Clardy (Drums), Scars Remain is on the fast track to notoriety in their own right. The combination of Travis and Neil with soaring vocal harmonies, Kyle, Andy, and Neil with bone-crushing riffs, and Jim holding down the skins is one to pay attention to. The energy and emotion this group gives on stage really engages the audience and more so, you can feel a connection between them and their audience.

As an independent band, they have released 3 successful singles working with Pangea Productions, and another 2 acting as their own production, While playing with a plethora of national acts such as Silvertung, Saving Abel, The Veer Union, Puddle of Mudd, and Doyle, they have also appeared on numerous festivals including Operation Rock Fest, Carolina Uprising, and Metal Fest.

Columbus band Cotter releases emo punk “All In My Mind”

Columbus, Ohio’s emotionally charged pop-punk band Cotter has just dropped their latest single “All In My Mind”. The track begins with clean arpeggiated guitars and earnest vocals before kicking in with the full band. With a singalong chorus and a driving backbeat, the song will remind listeners of classic artists of the genre like Mayday Parade or Jimmy Eat World.

“All In My Mind” was actually the first song songwriters Howard Mesharer and Zach Lukkarila ever wrote together, as well as Cotter’s first song ever. “It was rerecorded and expanded into a full band song, rather than being acoustic,” explains the band. “The song is about being ghosted by someone you’re into.

Cotter showcases sincere sentimentality through a veil of shreddy, pop-punk anthemicism. Named in memory of a late friend who had tragically succumbed to a battle with depression, the band sets its foundations in relatable themes that cover a wide spectrum of emotionality and lived experience. For “All In My Mind” Cotter once again teamed up with Will Deely of Beartooth and Adam Gilbert of Starset. They previously collabed on the single “Keep Driving” earlier this year.

Formed mid-2019 as an acoustic act by long-time musical collaborators Howard Mesharer (vocals) and Zachary Lukkarila (guitar/vocals), the full band lineup evolved later that year with the addition of Kyle Spears (guitar), Ethan Geist (bass), and Andrew Brzeczkowski (drums). The complete collective took the stage for their first live performance that December, securing the experience just ahead of 2020’s crowdless era.

Cotter officially debuted within the broader alternative music scene the following September, dropping the single, “Clumsy,” weeks ahead of their five-track EP, On Sunset. Drawing on balladic melodies, post-hardcore aggression, and everything in-between, the tracklist serves as an eclectic display of 2000s emo-reminiscent sonic stylings—but not without a fresh breath of modernity.

Big Pop Traverses Interstellar Time Portal In Ambitious Episodic Musical Mini-Series

Akron, Ohio indie pop-rock supergroup Big Pop, has just dropped their debut single, the instantly catchy, attitude-driven “Can’t Even Tell“. “It was written about somebody that fell madly in love with some hip androgyne on a college campus somewhere.” explains the band.

“Can’t Even Tell” is the first part of an ambitious seven-part music/video series, with each song being released as a single.  Group founders Corey and Jeri wrote the songs by passing them back and forth between each other before the band was even formed. “It was all written during the Covid-19 pandemic so that vibe definitely hangs over every song,” says the band. “The seven-part music video we’re making plays out like an episodic mini-series, following a band who gets lured into an interstellar time portal by a mysterious figure and his henchmen!

Indeed, the “Can’t Even Tell” music video follows a band shooting their first music video. Unbeknownst to them, a mysterious figure known as “Kron” is plotting something nefarious. With the help of his henchman Agent Collins, and the video’s director, Corey, Jeri, Cody, and Samantha find themselves stumbling into an interstellar time portal instead of celebrating the making of their first music video at a bar! You can watch the video below:

Big Pop is a diverse Akron supergroup who are music-obsessed perma-children that have an itch to push modern music to a new level. Started as a remote side project during 2020’s pandemic by Corey Jenkins and Jeri Sapronetti. They started sending demos back and forth, and when Jeri broke her foot skateboarding after visiting Cars’ singer Benjamin Orr’s grave, she and Corey started working closely on making songs to pass the time.

Both were deeply invested in their bands at the time; Corey with power-pop outfit Fancy Legs, and Jeri with long-running Akron rock/psych band Time Cat. Early 2021 saw the break up of Jeri’s band, still with a show at a huge outdoor venue on the books. As soon as Time Cat ended, Jeri called Corey and they pulled the trigger on forming their group to play this big show only three months away. One week later, Big Pop had a name and a full band.

The pair tapped a group of experienced, diverse, and talented individuals with backgrounds in music including rock, hip-hop, pop, and metal. With a humongous sound, cleverly crafted pop songs, and lush vocal harmonies, Big Pop is a brand new band that will get inside of your head and blow your mind.

Robert Keith (bass guitar) formerly played in popular Akron group, The Dreemers, and currently runs a recording studio; the Electric Company. Samantha Grace (synth, vocals), is a classically trained vocalist who plays guitar, piano, and viola, and also performs and records as a solo artist. Holbrook Riles III (drums) is a human-metronome-beat-maker supreme and has played with a head-spinning number of artists, including rappers Floco Torres and Jul Big Green. Cody Miller, who rounds out the group as their shredding 3rd guitarist, has spent much of his musical career in metal bands as well as working as an audio engineer in a local studio.

Corey Jenkins (guitar/vocals) and Jeri Sapronetti (guitar/vocals) met ten years ago and bonded over their mutual obsession with David Bowie. Over the years, they have spurred each other on with their insatiable desire to keep making music and live the dream.

Lyrically, the song is about a long for connection. “When I wrote the lyrics for Dibs On U, I thought of close friendship, the kind that you feel a void for when they’re over,’ explains vocalist Ryn Elise, “Your childhood best friend is probably not your best friend today, but you probably still think back on the good memories and miss the people you were when you were close.

This is Lucibelle’s first single as a newly formed trio, after adding drummer Colin Vana. “Colin added a much-needed element to the band,” explains Robert Clayton Sandifer Jr. “He brought energy and steered us toward a rock feel.”

Lyrically, The track tackles the world issues we’re facing today, with lines such as “If ever there’s a time that makes you wonder about the world we’re living in” driving the narrative home. “In a world where we’re stuck inside, living through the pandemic, lives are at stake, and people are more divided than ever, Miss Fortune believes it’s time to raise our questions, because it’s hard when gravity hits.” explains lead singer Mikey Sawyer.

Incorporating a Post-Hardcore, Pop-Punk, and Alternative Rock sound, the band have broadened their horizons with their latest album “Miss Fortune”, and branched out to Pop and even Contemporary Urban style production, creating a rollercoaster ride that one can only expect from a serious rock band cut from the cloth of genre-bending chaos. Producing the record completely Independently, whilst teaming up with super-producer Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember), their self-titled album has turned heads with an updated and more mature sound. The album has already charted on Billboard (#11 Heatseekers, #20 Hard Rock Albums, #30 Independent Albums), the band released an emotional acoustic album “Cruel Summer” in the same year consisting of B-sides spanning their 8 years as a band.

Starting 2021 off with a bang, the band has traced back their roots with the highly anticipated single “The Day The Sun Died” produced by Cameron Mizell.

The sound and music of Miss Fortune tell the cautionary tale of what it’s like to live life in the limelight, and be the center of focus in the public eye. Lead singer Mikey Sawyer is no stranger to controversy but has always shone through via the music and its message.

“Run Wild” With Circadia’s Latest Single

Circadia has released their newest single, “Run Wild”. The track is a cover of the For King & Country song of the same name. “This song is my favorite For King & Country song and they are my all-time favorite band,” explains Circadia. “I chose to do my own version of the song for a few reasons: One, to get For King & Country’s attention, Two, because what this song means and speaks about is simply to go for gold, reach for the stars, and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t accomplish your dreams in life.  Your anxiety, fears, and questioning whether you’re good enough… they’re all lies that your brain and others are telling you. We are made to Run Wild, live free, and love strong!

For the track, produced by Newkirk Productions, Circadia brought in Moriah Jane, a Mezzo-soprano with the  Cleveland Chamber Choir who has recently featured as a soloist in Haydn’s The Creation, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Fauré’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah. “Working with Moriah was a real treat,” says Circadia. “Not only is she one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, but she’s loads of fun to be around! On top of that, she has a beautiful voice!

The experience was exciting and new for Moriah as well.  “Working with Circadia has truly opened my eyes to the amazing modern music industry,” she says.  “I had been stuck in a choral music bubble and never really experimented with modern music twists. It was a blast to record with Circadia and watch the magic unfold! I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to working together in the future.”

Along with the single, Circadia has also released a music video for “Run Wild”, which you can watch below:

Circadia is an electronic pop-rock artist hailing from Ravenna, Ohio. All of their lyrics are positive and uplifting. Find out more about Circadia at the links below:

Hockey-Themed Punks Drop Vinyl Release Of CBGB and PRB Shows Spanning 16 Years

Legendary Long Island punk band Two Man Advantage is releasing a live vinyl album featuring two live performances, separated by 16 years!  Side A captures a show live at the legendary punk venue CBGB in August of 2002., while Side B is live at the Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas in May of 2018.

Released on Florida punk label DXPC Live, the album is pressed on 3-Stripe in Red, Black and White and features a special fold over cover, allowing people to choose the black and white cover that looks like an old V.M.Live cover, or reverse it and show the live photo cover.

For DXPC Live, the decision to release the live album was an easy one. “I had heard of 2MAN, but I had never seen them, so when this punk kid named Jizm asked me to book a show for 2MAN in Baltimore I didn’t quite know what to expect.  2MAN showed up, and I was honored that they did since they had been offered a chance to play the Hardcore Super Bowl in DC that same night with The Circle Jerks, Suicidal Tendencies, and many, many, many more. They turned down the offer because they felt they owed it to me. What followed was a beer-fueled, cheesecake-covered, sweaty mess of some of the best punk rock I’ve ever seen!”

To promote the release, Two Man Advantage has released a live video of  “Zamboni Driving Maniac”, a single about a drunken Zamboni driver that landed the band in hot water upon its release. “The Zamboni company genuinely hates the song. When the studio version came out Zamboni looked into suing 2MAN.” says the band. Indeed, a Los Angeles Times article quoted a spokeswoman for the company as saying:

” “We’re taking a look at that with our trademark attorney”. Part of the company’s concern, Jensen said, is whether the song “implies an unsafe activity.” Part of what is upsetting the Zamboni Co. is the fact that the song has been played in hockey arenas all over North America.”

The video was made by No Vacancy Media by compiling a montage of video footage found online. You can watch the video below:

Together for more than 20 years, Two Man Advantage is the world’s premier hockey punk band. Known widely for their explosive live performances, the band has been featured in some of the country’s most high-profile media outlets: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, ESPN, and their music has been played in numerous NHL arenas.  Through it all, they remain true to their underground roots and continue to play dive bars, DIY spots, and punk houses across the country in support of their numerous full-length LPs and other releases. The album is available for pre-order now at DXPCLIVE.com.

Premiere: Pittsburgh Native SONNY BOY Releases Debut Single “The Homecoming”

Pittsburgh, PA based pop-rock singer-songwriter Sonny Boy has just dropped his debut single “The Homecoming“. The song rocks like The 1975 and features a great video, which you can watch below:

The video was a blast to film. It was filmed “run and gun” style, partially in my childhood hometown and due to the nature of it, we garnered a lot of curious stares and a lot of positive reactions. A lot of passers by even agreed to be in the video.” says Sonny Boy, who keeps his own name off of all promotional materials. You see, Sonny Boy is hoping you can’t tell how nervous he is. After too many years of trying to seem cool, he’s decided it’s not for him, and is embracing the idea of making music of a much more sincere and personal nature. His inaugural album “The Homecoming” is just that; Effectively serving as a concept album of his life and experiences so far. Being arguably more therapeutic than it is exhibitory “The Homecoming” serves as not only an example of music as entertainment, but also as a means of survival. Characterized by playful melodies, pounding drums and introspective lyrics, Sonny Boy attempts to capture in his music the beautifully awkward and tragically humorous process of living; Coping with the past and fearing the future, all the while hoping it’ll all turn out okay.

STFLR Shares New EP “A Collection of Bad Ideas”

Long Island pop-punk outfit STFLR has dropped their Sophomore EP, A Collection Of Bad Ideas. The 4 track EP features the single “Looking For Answers”, which is the culmination of the EP and one could argue the culmination of this era of the band. “This track was a collaborative effort by the whole band and that teamwork really shines through on the track,” says the band. From the opening riff to the cry-for-help ending, “Looking For Answers” is STFLR’s most mature and honest song yet. “The song feels like a goodbye,” explains the band. “While we don’t know what we’re really saying goodbye to, it feels like a chapter that has ended and it’s time to move on.

Lyrically, the single comes from a personal place. “Nick wrote the lyrics when he found out that he was going to be a dad and the feelings that followed were captured in the lyrics. All the insecurities and fears that come along with becoming a parent were poured into this track and we really feel it could be the best song ever written by any band, in any decade, in perpetuity until the end of time.”

The EP was recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by Anthony Lopardo and Ray Marte (drummer of Moon Tooth) at Westfall Recording Studios in Long Island, New York.  Thematically, the album deals with subjects ranging from regret, being taken advantage of, inadequacies. “The pandemic and quarantine were hard for a lot of people, ourselves included,” says the band. “Add becoming a new father in these uncertain times to the mix and you have yourself a whole new set of challenges and uncertainties. It’s safe to say our mental health suffered the last year and a half, but the art that has come from it is some of the most honest and pure stuff we have yet to put out.

Formed in the fall of 2019, STFLR started out more as therapy than a band for lifelong friends Nick Lopardo (vocals), Yianni Hansen (guitar), and Anthony Guiffrida (guitar). When their first EP was released, the trio realized they had found the release they were looking for and made STFLR a full-time band. With the addition of childhood friends Angelo Rodrigues (drums) and Mike Moran (bass), STFLR took shape to the lineup today. With catchy hooks and relatable lyrics, STFLR has proven that pop punk can be more than songs about leaving your hometown or leaving your girlfriend. Striving for a brand new sound aided by years of experience, STFLR is a breath of fresh air the scene needs. STFLR doesn’t worry about following typical song patterns and just write what they want to listen to. Having fun is their priority and having that positive energy allows them to freely explore all aspects of songwriting.

Alt-Country Act The Typical Tohnsons Releases Poignant Lyric Video For “Optimistic Nihilism”

The Typical Johnsons have released their newest single, the roots tinged alt-country track “Optimistic Nihilism”. “This single was written initially about some extremely painful real-life events, but after the song was realized in its recorded form we realized there were some universal truths in the song that others could relate to,” explains the band. “This is about the distance that grows between those we care about in our lives and the way we all deal with the human condition in our own way.”

Recorded by Patrick Himes at Reel Love Recording in Dayton Ohio. The track is a single off of the upcoming album “South of Somewhere Real“, a 12 track full-length due out this December on Punkerton Records. “Although this has been two years in the making, these songs feel more pertinent and relevant to us now than they ever did.” says the band.

This will be the band’s third full length, following their debut album The Sailor & The Siren (2016) and  Rust Belt Renaissance (2017) as well as two eps, In Other Words (2018) and Wreckage (2019). Along with the single, The Typical Johnsons has also released a lyric video for “Optimistic Nihilism“. The band used the format of a lyric video to help convey the feel of the song more than any live-action video ever could. You can watch the video below.

A little bit of Rock N Roll, a little bit of old time Country Music, mix in some Punk influence and some Roots Americana music, throw all that into the blender and you have what someone much smarter than the band described as “Dirty Northern Folk Rock”.

The music of The Typical Johnsons leans in a lot of different directions but isn’t necessarily codified by any of them. With influences ranging from Johnny Cash and  Drive-By Truckers to Social Distortion and Neil Young, there is something for everyone and each listener takes something different away with them.

Named after an idea that we’re all the same and that we all have the ability to get up and play and perform and write what we feel. The Typical Johnsons stand for the regular person playing guitar in the basement or banging away on the drum kit out in the garage on the weekend. The Typical Johnsons are the guys who get excited when they learn a new chord progression or bass line for a new song and so are their fans. They are Lo-Fi, if you will, regular typical people.

Heartland, grassroots, coming at you from the ground up, call it what you want, but it sounds like middle America to their fans.

Lynne Siegrist (Vocals)

Jeffrey Brogan (Bass)

The track is tied together by a strong, feel-good hook, ready for alternative radio!

The lyric ‘Smile Til It Hurts’ was taken from the track and has been used for a title for the upcoming EP.”

Pop Punkers College Radio Drop Anthemic banger “11:59”

Seattle alternative pop-punk band College Radio has just released their newest single, “11:59”. The track has an over-distorted, bouncy pop-punk feel reminiscent of 2000’s pop-punk along the lines of Green Day, with a walking bass line and a sarcastic chorus about “feeling fine” during the chaos of the current world.

Lyrically, the song is about the band’s feelings on last year’s lockdown. “This was one of the first tracks we recorded during the pandemic and it really showcases how we felt and how the world really felt,” explains the band. “Singing this one is our bass player Evan. He really hit the nail on what 2020 was like for pretty much all of us.”

“11:59” was engineered by Dane Stafford and mixed and mastered by John Espy. Along with the track, College Radio has also released a new music video. “This makes it the third video shot in our bass players house!”, says the band. “It was shot by our great friend King Zabb and we got wild in this one!” You can watch the video below:

Hailing from Washington, DC, post-hardcore singer/songwriter/producer Jamie Stoffa has just dropped his latest single, “Day 52”, a dark, heavy song about the apocalypse. Musically, the single gives off the feeling of impending doom from the first chord and never lets up.

Stoffa recruited his good friend Billy Tagg to co-write and produce the song. Tagg also performed rhythm and lead guitars. “It all started on day 52 of lockdown. I had sent Billy a drum track titled “Day 52” that I had created to nothing but a click track,” says Stoffa. “In a day or two, he responded with a perfect guitar part in my opinion. To me, the opening chord just says doom or dread every time I hear it, and that’s what I was hoping he’d create.

“Day 52” is being released with a comic book lyric video featuring illustration by Lawrence Crow. “The video features a comic book that dives deeper into the story,” explains Stoffa. “It was written by me, but the amazing illustration was done by Lawrence Crow and the video was done by Poseidon Media.
